“No man is an island!”

A roadtrip on the mythical island of Kalsoy – I Live as I Dream

Kalsoy – Wikipedia

Within three days of meeting my wife to be, Mary Ann Tharaldsen is showing me her copy of V and the signature of her ex-lover, Thomas Pynchon – who I never heard of. Thus, I was not impressed. I tried to read this book, and only read about fifty pages – and quit. On my birthday I identified the truth – no one wants me to be a writer – and Tom is a right-brained person, posing as a left brain person. With this revelation, I can suggest my ex-wife encouraged Thomas to write – from his right half – and when his friend, Richard Farina wrote his left-brianed book, his good friend wanted to try his hand at it. What we get is no romance or artistic atmosphere. We do not get any Wilderness Detective Writ that Norbert Davis was famous for – that caught the attention of Ludwig Wittgenstien. What we have is Tech-Writ where Pynchon gives far-out names to his hip-beat freaks, not able to do a real character study like a real social animal could. Farina was an Alpha Male Party Guy Chic Magnet – like Zed – who took a woman in his name….

“ZARDOZ!”

Zed is an Exterminator for THE HEAD, and wears a mask of his idol. He is lured into the Giant Hear by Arthur Frain, who is Thomas Pynchon – in disguise! When I saw the illustration of Thomas wearing a mask – the last piece of the puzzle fell into place. Some writers are asking why the villain of ‘No Time To Die’ want to kill off millions of people. Fellow authors don’t buy it – THE MOTIVE! What if, Thomas Pynchon had a stroke that left him with brain damage. The healthy part of his brain, that bids him to be an island unto himself, and, avoid all human beings – is working overtime! Using his Power of Seclusion, Tom contacts powerful people and bring them into his Private Vortex – or promises to. Owning the Bragging Right that you are having private chit-chats with Tom – is like a drug! People get addicted to his contacts – and will do anything for more! Tom makes contact with an old LSD manufacturer who was working on the idea of making Personal Acid Trips that enhance ones DNA. Being a secret Ian Fleming Freak, Tom enjoys going on Paranoiac Excursions in his brain. Like Mary Ann, he had been in one of John C. Lily’s deprivation tanks, where….The World Goes Away…along with all the people.

An hour ago I discovered there is a statue of a Selkie. I have been trying to identify why Rena Easton is afraid of the Ocean. I believe she is a Selkie, as is Mary Ann, as is Belle Burch, and my grandmother who was born on Heligoland Island. So was Mimi Farina, who I suspect Thomas fell in love with. Mary Ann descends from Leif Ericson – and Thor/ I suspect Tom is around three hundred years old. A group of Puritans may have found the Fountain of Eternal Youth. One thing for sure, the theory about the movie The Rock is very valid. Mary Ann fell in love with me when she saw my drawings of Atlantis.

STOP THE PRESSES! SPOILER ALERT!

I just found out Thomas Pynchon and Jack London are distant cousins! In theory they could contaminate each other with Heracles. On my birthday I got an answer as to why billionaires do not want me to write. I AM A SCRIBE! I am a Scribe of AAron who were Irish Druids of the Red Hand of O’Neill. There is a good chance The Rouge Hand Dragon authored REVELATIONS! Some one, is trying to wipe us out. Writers for Hollywood began to take over the whole world. A line has been crossed, between what is real, and what is fiction. The Scribes were formed to keep this from happening. What is really going on the Buck Institute of Aging? Did my sister Christine learn the secret? Now I understand why her autobiography was disappeared. A Harvard alumni paper said Thomas and Mary Ann were married. If true, Thomas is in our Rosy Family Tree.

I suspect Jack London had a twin brother. Consider Jacob and Essau. One was all right brain and the other all left. They do not share the same father. How is that possible? Tom and I have had sexual intercourse with the same woman who may be an Atlantian Selkie.

The Second Coming of Martin Eden

A Novel by John Gregory Presco a.k.a. John Wilson Rosamond

Yesterday, I discovered I am Martin Eden. I am a Futurian. I will always be a Bohemian Time Traveler. I can trace my Time Line back to Egypt. Why I did not see I was Martin, until recently, is most interesting because it is archeological proof Futurians exist. I am working on the correct term that describes the ability of a Muse to travel into the future and drastically affect someone, who then aspires to be a writer. What came first, the chicken or the egg in regards to Time Line Inspiration, is a very loaded question for a Futurian aimed at hiding, then limiting Time Line Crossovers. We have the ability to be two places at the same time. We experience many out of body experiences. I just had one when I discovered how similar my relationship is to Shell Mound Park, and, Janke Park which was owned and operated by one of my grandfathers.”

Talitha Dina Pol was born in Java, then part of the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), daughter of the artists Willem Jilts Pol (nl) (1905–88) and Arnoldine Adriana “Adine” Mees (1908–1948).[1]

Her father subsequently married Poppet John (1912–97), daughter of the painter Augustus John (1878–1961), a pivotal figure in the world of Bohemian culture and fashion. She was thus the step-granddaughter of both Augustus John and his muse and second wife, Dorothy “Dorelia” McNeil (1881–1969), who was a fashion icon in the early years of the 20th century. By Ian Fleming‘s widowed mother, Evelyn Ste Croix Fleming née Rose, Augustus John had a daughter and Talitha’s aunt, Amaryllis Fleming (1925–1999), who became a noted cellist.

Born in London, Francis moved to Hollywood during the second world war and set set up his own gallery in the Beverley Hills Hotel, where it attracted film star clients including Hedda Hopper and Greta Garbo.

Francis Taylor exclusively represented the Welsh painter Augustus John in America, a relationship that had developed when the Taylor family moved into John’s former house in Hampstead, where Elizabeth was born in 1932. The Christie’s sale includes 21 works by John, including Portrait of Poppet in Black Hat, which Elizabeth inherited from her father and, says Bertazzoni, “cherished all her life”.

Thomas Pynchon Unmasked (altaonline.com)

Why I believed that dumb Pynchon death hoax: The elusive novelist is tailor-made to be the butt of bizarre rumors | Salon.com

Greed, Revenge or Chaos? Making Sense of Safin’s Masterplan in ‘No Time To Die’ (newsweek.com)

As the movie comes towards its end, we learn that Safin (played by Rami Malek) has adapted the Heracles Project to make a DNA-targeted chemical weapon that could wipe out millions across the world. The problem is the film never actually explains why he would want to do this.

Greed, Revenge or Chaos? Making Sense of Safin’s Masterplan in ‘No Time To Die’ (newsweek.com)

The long and narrow Kalsoy island is the new James Bond island. Actually, it is Safin’s island but it surely becomes James Bond’s island towards the film’s end. The island is a visually striking place filled with unbelievable mountains and mystic valleys.

In the movie, the island is located between Russia and Japan. In real life, it is a far-flung island in the Faroe Islands known for majestic landscapes.

The island’s northernly tip is the most beautiful and impressive part of Kalsoy island. Valleys here are deep and cliffs incredible steep. The island has been digitally edited in the movie so only the last quarter of the island is used when maps of the island are shown in the movie.

for their in-house guide, Bomarc Service News. The aerospace giant was just then developing the Minuteman, a nuclear-capable missile that likely inspired Pynchon, years later, to cast Germany’s World War II–era V-2 rocket as the screaming menace of Gravity’s Rainbow. (One of the joys of tracking Pynchon is tracing the far-flung interconnections in his work to unlikely real-world experiences—dating an NSA worker; seeing Charles de Gaulle in Mexico; fooling around on a primitive music synthesizer in 1972.)

This morning, a rumor began going around that novelist Thomas Pynchon – author of “Gravity’s Rainbow” and “Inherent Vice” – had died. Internet rumors and online misinformation are not exactly hard to find these days, but this one had a special weird resonance to it, a touch of “meta” or inside joke alongside the grimness. Even when it turned out to be a hoax — when we found out that the novelist was alive and well — there was still something eerie about it.

Why did the hoaxer pick Pynchon – instead of say, Cormac McCarthy or Toni Morrison, both of whom are older than the 78-year-old Long Island native? And why did so many of us believe, or at least half-believe, the rumors when we heard them, despite the web’s sorta spotty record on conveying accurate information, especially about famous people?Advertisement:

The chatter on this one started after this Tweet from “DonDeLilloOfficial”:

We probably should have been skeptical of this missive, since this fake DeLillo had just joined the day before, this was his first communication of substance and the verb tense is off.

But a sudden, unexplained announcement of just about anything involving Pynchon makes more sense than the equivalent involving almost any other writer.

The most obvious reason is because Pynchon is a recluse: The details of his life are better known today than they were for a long time – he lives in New York City, has a young son, is married to his literary agent.

But for a long time, even Pynchon zealots were not quite sure where he was. He once – reportedly — jumped out of a Mexico City window to dodge a photographer sent to photograph the novelist whose first book, “V.,” was beginning to draw attention. When Pynchon won the National Book Award for “Gravity’s Rainbow,” in 1974 he dispatched a comedian to collect the award for him. And between then and “Vineland,” from 1990, Pynchon produced not a single novel: He seemed to be turning into J.D.

One could say I am the return of Noah, and this blog is God’s Ark wherein its hold are stored THE NAMES that will be saved. JONATHAN means ‘The Gift of God’ ROSAMOND means ‘The Rose of the World’. These two names can mean the Gift of Eternal Life given to those who ROSE FROM THE DEAD. In Mathew 27:53 we see many saints rose from the dead just after Jesus says; “It is done!” What the Go-el Redeemer meant by this, is, The New Heaven and Earth has been installed. God’s Kingdom has come to dwell on Earth.
When I died, I saw a great Ark resting upon the horizon of the sea.

Last night I went to the Poetry Slam at the Tsunami Books Store in Eugene, and sat in the front row. Before the contest began, the MC was having trouble with with the mike that was omitting static.

“Some kind of strange sea sound!” she said.
“Tsunami!” I offered, and was given a prize for the shortest and most powerful poem of the evening – in jest!

In the painting above it looks like the Go’el Redeemer is holding up a boarding list. How many Christians are missing the boat as I type because they have surrounded hungry children like vultures, and are grabbing the food out of their mouths.

Fleet Week and The Theory

Posted on October 7, 2021 by Royal Rosamond Press

Growing up in the Bay Area, Fleet Week was a big deal for male teenagers. Being in the Navy, Rosemary took her sons, and our two best friends to an event, and we ended up on a submarine. The Theory that James Bond was arrested and spent time on Alcatraz – is blowing my mind! Rena Easton and I spent two nights in a tent in a backyard in Oakland. She would later marry Admiral Ian Easton. The Eastons inspired me to author my James Bond novel ‘The Royal Janitor’ starring Victoria Rosemond Bond the granddaughter of James Bond.

I am kin to Ian Fleming via my cousin, Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, who was married to Secretary of the Navy, John Warner. Today I am firmly rooted in all the myths surrounding James Bond and Ian Fleming. Victoria Bond kept having dreams about a Ghost Fleet, and, today there exists a – Ghost Bond! The fleet – is in! I am – VICTORIOUS!

Here’s The Guardian on a 2003 documentary:

One writer, Jules Siegel, tells how his wife ran off with Pynchon in the 1960s, and alleges, bizarrely, that Pynchon was involved with the US government’s LSD experiments on unwitting subjects. Others tell anecdotes of Pynchon haunting bookshops in disguise, or turning up incognito at Pynchon-lookalike parties. The man himself, of course, is nowhere to be seen.

One of the weirdest rumors about Pynchon that circulated in the early 1990s, and which the new film does not discuss, was that he was the Unabomber.

Remember him?

Beyond this, though, the sudden leaking of the author’s death on the Internet – out of the blue, without reports of decline or illness – is like something out of a Pynchon book. At least since his second novel – the slim but mighty “Crying of Lot 49” – Pynchon has been interested in underground or alternate means of communications (the book’s key symbol is a muted postal horn.) Alongside this — and accompanying his famous paranoia, something he shares with DeLillo – is a distrust of official truths. (“The X-Files” and a whole line of paranoid pop culture would not exist without Pynchon.)Advertisement:

The Internet’s combination of mystery and conspiratorial nonsense makes it the perfect vehicle for puzzling news about the writer. (Similarly, one of the best sources on the novels is the Pynchon Wiki.)

Not to mention the fact that Pynchon’s work can be so complicated and multi-layered that some of it remains elusive even after you’ve read it lots of times: It’s not literary clarity, which he’s certainly capable of, but a larger sense that there’s something unknowable about the guy and the way his mind works.

Fans like me have had our scare; the rumor has been debunked. It’s probably over, for now, instead of turning into a Paul-is-dead mythos that resonates like a legend. But who knows? Internet Pynchon misinformation seems like too inevitable a phenomenon – perhaps this is the beginning of a strange new cottage industry that will haunt us for years to come.

Mary Ann Tharaldsen & Thomas Pynchon

One of the readers of this blog gave me a heads-up about my ex-wife giving accounts of her relationship with Thomas Pynchon in the New York magazine. When I googled for a picture for this magazine, I came upon a ‘Fashion’ issue. On the cover was a woman with a rose tattoo. I found another photo of this tattoo. Is it real? These photos blow my mind!

Last week Mary Ann and I talked about reforming a light-weight bond with “no drama”. But it was a life size drawing of Mary Ann – my wife – that started a very dramatic battle.

Mary Ann had told me while living in Mexico with Pynchon he had her stand nude before a mirror holding a rose.

In my studio, I had my wife pose nude but for a sheet that hung over one shoulder. The edge of it did not cover the V of her mound, whom she told me her doctor told her he had never seen a more beautiful one. I concur!

Now, go pick yourself a rose, and put it in Mary Ann’s hand – and all hell breaks lose.

Mary Ann’s fifteen year old son was very upset when he saw this drawing. We had not told him we were going to L.A. to get married, and now, I am beholding his adopted mother in the buff. There was no complaint when we made love in a vocal manner.

If the truth be known, Art has destroyed my life – and my marriage! Is it any wonder Thomas flies under the radar.

In the top photo is Mary Ann singing along with Bryan McLean of ‘Love’. My jealous girlfriend tore this photo, and many others. I think Rena’s little photo did not survive. I believe I was the one who told Bryan he could be in love with almost everyone when he came to me for advice. He loved Christine Rosamond, but, there were other roses in his life he wanted to – enjoy!

Like his mother, Bryan was a gifted artist. His drawing of beach bunnies and surfers, would be in a museum, if they survived. We worked on our creations together in one class at University High. Marilyn was there, and became a fashion designer. She is just out of the picture.

Love’s ‘The Red Telephone’ was chosen for the best depiction of an LSD high – with concert! We had so much guts – so much love! I regret nothing! I get that acid taste and sensation in my throat just looking at that cosmic crowd and hearing Ravi Shankar.

Who, or, what, is offering the world anything like this? To see children dying from poison gas – is soul shattering!

This is not our world!

New York magazine’s Fall Fashion issue (out on Monday), enjoy a sneak preview of the cover image featuring actress-director Lake Bell, whose new movie, “In A World …,” opens this weekend. Shot by Mark Seliger for New York, Bell wears a (fake) tattoo of her husband Scott Campbell’s design.

“Two of Pynchon’s Cornell friends, his future girlfriend Tharaldsen and her then-husband, David Seidler, had moved to Seattle and encouraged Pynchon to join them. Tharaldsen says Pynchon arrived “depressed—very down.” She worked for Boeing, and hooked him up with a job writing technical copy for their in-house guide, Bomarc Service News.

“…one afternoon in the mid-sixties, he and his then-girlfriend, Mary Ann Tharaldsen, were driving through Big Sur when she complained of nausea. She wanted to stop at a bar and have a shot to settle her stomach. According to Tharaldsen, he exploded, telling her he would not tolerate midday drinking. When she asked why, he told her he’d seen his mother, after drinking, accidentally puncture his father’s eye with a clothespin. It was the only time, says Tharaldsen, who lived with him, that he ever mentioned his family. “He was disconnected from them,” she says. “There seems to have been something not good there.”

Pynchon left Cornell in order to enlist in another Cold War operation, the Navy. He once wrote that calculus was “the only class I ever failed,” but he’s always used self-deprecation to deflect inquiries, and professors remembered universally good grades. Tharaldsen says she saw Pynchon’s IQ score, somewhere in the 190s. So why would he leave? He wrote much later about feeling in college “a sense of that other world humming out there”—a sense that would surely nag him from one city to another for the rest of his life. He was also in thrall to Thomas Wolfe and Lord Byron. Most likely he wanted to follow their examples, to experience adventure at ground level and not from the command centers

http://www.vulture.com/2013/08/thomas-pynchon-bleeding-edge.html

One colleague remembered Pynchon as ornery and solitary on the job. But he managed to turn in V. eighteen months after signing the contract, meeting his own arbitrary deadline on the nose. After a few months of intense editing by mail, he used the $1,000 to quit his job at Boeing, vowing never to work for a corporation again. He called it his “escape money,” and he wanted to make it last—by running again, this time to Mexico.

Love Song to a Stranger

How long since I’ve spent a whole night in a twin bed with a stranger?
His warm arms all around me
How long since I’ve gazed in the dark eyes that melted my soul down
To a place where it longs to be?
All of your history has little to do with your face
You’re mainly a mystery with violins filling in space

You stood in the nude by the mirror and picked out a rose
From the bouquet in our hotel
And lay down beside me again and I watched the rose
On the pillow as it fell
I sank and I slept in a twilight with only one care
To know that when day broke and I woke that you’d still be there
You’d still be there

The hours for once they passed slowly, unendingly by
Like a sweet breeze on a field
Your gentleness came down upon me and I guess I thanked you
When you caused me to yield
We spoke not a sentence, took not a footstep beyond
Our two days together which seemingly soon would be gone
Soon would be gone

Don’t tell me of love everlasting and other sad dreams
I don’t want to hear
Just tell me of passionate strangers who rescue each other
From a lifetime of cares
‘Cause if love means forever expecting nothing returned
Then I hope I’ll be given another whole lifetime to learn

‘Cause you gave to me oh so many things it makes me wonder
How they could belong to me
And I gave you only my dark eyes which melted your soul down
To the place where it longs to be

A roadtrip on the mythical island of Kalsoy – I Live as I Dream

One evening, a young man from Mikladalur went to the beach to watch the selkies dance as he always did on the twelfth night every year, when the seals, who are believed to be former humans who voluntarily sought death in the ocean, come on land, shed their skins and dance under cover of darkness. That night, the young man fell in love with one of the selkies and decided to steal her skin, so she couldn’t go back into the ocean. He forced the selkie to marry him, and hid her skin in a chest, and kept the key with him at all times. They lived together for many years and had several children together.
One day, the man went out fishing and discovered that he had forgotten to bring the key for the chest. When he returned home, he saw that his wife had left him and his children. He ran to the beach and in the distance, he saw the selkie swimming away with her seal-husband, who had been waiting for her for all of those years.
Then one day, the men of Mikladalur went hunting for seals. The night before, the selkie had appeared to the man in a dream and said to make sure not to kill the great bull seal that would be lying at the

they were her two young sons. She described their skins so he would know them, but the man didn’t listen to her. He joined the others on the hunt, and they killed all the seals they could see, and when the catch was later divided up, the man received the large bull seal and both the front and the hind flippers of the young pups.
That evening, the selkie appeared again in form of a terrifying ogre and promised revenge on all the men of Mikladalur, announcing that some would die at sea and others would fall from the mountain tops, until there had been so many deaths that the dead could link hands around the island of Kalsoy. Today, it is still feared that the number of victims is not yet great enough, and so the deaths will continue happening.

Down at the shore in Mikladalur stands the statue of the selkie, reminding the village of its inevitable destiny according to the legend.

In Celtic and Norse mythology, selkies (also spelled silkiessylkiesselchies) or selkie folk (Scotsselkie fowk) meaning ‘seal folk[a] are mythological beings capable of therianthropy, changing from seal to human form by shedding their skin. They are found in folktales and mythology originating from the Northern Isles of Scotland.

The folk-tales frequently revolve around female selkies being coerced into relationships with humans by someone stealing and hiding their sealskin, thus exhibiting the tale motif of the swan maiden type.

There are counterparts in Faroese and Icelandic folklore that speak of seal-women and seal-skin.

Selkie – Wikipedia

Scottish legend[edit]

Many of the folk-tales on selkie folk have been collected from the Northern Isles (Orkney and Shetland).[14]

In Orkney lore, selkie is said to denote various seals of greater size than the grey seal; only these large seals are credited with the ability to shapeshift into humans, and are called “selkie folk”. The type of large seals that might have been seen on the islands include the Greenland seal (also known as the Harp Seal) and the crested seal (also known as the hooded seal).[15] Something similar is stated in Shetland tradition, that the mermen and mermaids prefer to assume the shape of larger seals, referred to as Haaf-fish.[16]

Selkie wife and human lover[edit]

A typical folk-tale is that of a man who steals a female selkie’s skin, finds her naked on the sea shore, and compels her to become his wife.[17] But the wife will spend her time in captivity longing for the sea, her true home, and will often be seen gazing longingly at the ocean. She may bear several children by her human husband, but once she discovers her skin, she will immediately return to the sea and abandon the children she loved. Sometimes, one of her children discovers or knows the whereabouts of the skin.[c][d] Sometimes it is revealed she already had a first husband of her own kind.[18][21] Although in some children’s story versions, the selkie revisits her family on land once a year, in the typical folktale she is never seen again by them.[22] In one version, the selkie wife was never seen again (at least in human form) by the family, but the children would witness a large seal approach them and “greet” them plaintively.[23]

Male selkies are described as being very handsome in their human form, and having great seductive powers over human women. They typically seek those who are dissatisfied with their lives, such as married women waiting for their fishermen husbands.[15] In one popular tattletale version about a certain “Ursilla” of Orkney (a pseudonym), it was rumoured that when she wished to make contact with her male selkie she would shed seven tears into the sea.[24]

Children born between man and seal-folk may have webbed hands, as in the case of the Shetland mermaid whose children had “a sort of web between their fingers”,[25] or “Ursilla” rumoured to have children sired by a male selkie, such that the children had to have the webbing between their fingers and toes made of horny material clipped away intermittently. Some of the descendants actually did have these hereditary traits, according to Walter Traill Dennison who was related to the family.[26][27]
