This morning I discovered Liz Taylor’s brother, Howard, founded a famous commune on the island of Hawaii, called ‘Taylor’s Camp’. He rounded up hippies off the streets of Berkeley where I lived, and flew them to his Utopia where everyone was free! Today, Howard has set me free! I lived in several communes the foremost being ‘Idle Hands’ founded by the Zorthian Sisters, Nancy Hamren, and myself. Howard Taylor was named after his uncle, Howard Young who married Mabel Rosemond, whose sister, Elizabeth Rosemond, married Francis Taylor. This is the group of relative my late sister would want to be associated with, and not the group that came under the control of the ‘Caretaker’, the non-family and outsider, Stacey Pierrot ‘The Un-Rose’. It is extremely rare that two women who bare the name Rosamond and Rosemond on their birth certificate would become big players in the Art World, along with family members. Christine Rosamond Benton, and Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, are distant cousins who share the same great grandfather, James Rosamond.
What is profound two Rosemond sisters married Liz’s grandfather, and uncle, both who were famous art dealers. Liz’s uncle, Francis Marion Taylor, married Elizabeth Mary Rosemond. Francis had a gallery in the Elysee Chateau, where many Hollywood Stars resided, and later in the Beverley Hills Hotel, where Marilyn Monroe lived. Howard had a gallery in the Pierre Hotel in New York, and was a good friend of President Dwight Eisenhower.

Christine Rosamond Benton had two galleries in Carmel, and was a partner with an advisor for the Getty family who were friends of the artist, Garth Benton, the cousin of the artist, Thomas Hart Benton. Garth is the daughter of my artistic niece, Drew Benton. Jessie and Susan Benton, had salons in San Francisco and Paris. We are looking at a Artistic Dynasty.
Also of interest, there is a Francis Marion Rosamond who was named after Francis Marion, the ‘Swamp Fox’.
My grandfather’s cousin, Leonard “Lenn” Duckworth married Jessie N. Rosemond, daughter of Morton M. Rosemond aka Moses Rosemond and Martha Lakes/Lokes, on 28 Dec 1891 in Sangamon Co., IL. Jessie’s siblings were Elizabeth M. Rosemond b. abt 1868, who married Frank Taylor 27 Feb 1890 in Sangamon Co., Frank Rosemond b. abt 1873, OH, and Mabel Rosemond, b. abt. 1878, who married S. Christine and Elizabeth can trace their roots to the Ozark Mountains in Missouri where my grandfather, Frank Wesley Rosamond lived, and where he wrote several novels, short stories, and poems that appeared in Otto Rayburn’s magazine ‘Arcadian Life’. Royal Reuben Rosamond (Frank’s pen name) founded his own publishing company, Gem Publishing. In 1997 I founded Royal Rosamond Press Co. that is listed in Lane County Oregon as a publishing company. I am the President of my own newspaper.

The four Rosamond sisters were child models. Rosemary and Lillian dated the actor, Errol Flynn.
Mrs. E. M. Taylor’s sister (Mabel Rosemond) had married Howard Young, a famous artist who had galleries in St. Louis, then New York, and London.
The war was devastating Europe in 1939 and found Francis and Sara Southern Taylor, both American nationals, running an art gallery in England for Francis’ multimillionaire uncle, Howard Young, a well-known dealer with an important gallery in New York. To avoid the growing conflict, Francis Taylor sent his wife and two children home to America while he remained behind to close out his uncle’s business. They visited briefly in Arkansas City before going to Pacific Palisades, near Hollywood where the Warmbrodt family was then living. In a few weeks Howard joined his family and opened his own art gallery in Los Angeles.”
Christine Rosamond Presco was discovered and promoted by Ira Cohen, of Ira Roberts Art Gallery on Lacienaga in Los Angeles. Christine married Garth Benton, the cousin of the famous artist, Thomas Hart Benton, and in 1986 she became partners with Lawrence Chazen in the Crossroads Arty Gallery in Carmel. This was the first Rosamond gallery. Chazen was a financial advisor of J.Paul Getty, and was a partner in the Plump/Jack resturant chain, along with the Nancy Pelosi family, and ex-mayor of San Francsico, Gavin Newsom. The Getty family amassed one of the largest art collections in the world. The Getty Museum overlooks the City of Angels. Garth Benton and my niece, Shannon Benton Sidel rendered the beautiful murals found in the Getty Villa. Chazen is a CEO of Noble Oil who will restart the drilling for black gold in the Gulf.

How did I miss Howard Taylor – the no-good Hippie Weirdo, that exploiters of Liz, would want to seep under the carpet like a piece of dirt. I know how he feels, and Liz, who obviously loved her brother, and was supportive of him. When you put the two portraits of Brother and Sister, side by side, you see the resemblance.
To behold that beautiful naked woman on the beach, who was a member of Taylor Camp, is so LIBERATING! Belle and I discussed whether or not she was going to pose nude for me. I told her that might be a possibility, but, I was interested in her face, using it for my portrait of Fair Rosamond Clifford who is kin to Maud Beauchamp.
Sarah Churchill married Anthony Beauchamp who photographed Marilyn Monroe, and was considered her photographer. He also photographed my kin, Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, who is also in the peerage, and was considered Andy Warhol’s muse. The two most beautiful women in the world are now in my Rosy Camp. Perhaps my rebellious muses will be more cooperative, now that they are in this Royal Rose Circle? Everything is coming up roses – for me and you!

In 1988 I wrote and recorded my story ‘The Birth of Venus’. I spliced in Enya’s music that Marilyn Reed had put on a tape for me. I sent a copy of this to Rena Easton, in hope she would choreograph a dance to it. I wanted Belle to do the same thing. Look at the photograph of the Beauty of Taylor Camp on the beach, and make her come alive to this music. The Eternal Hippie Dance – begins!
Everything has come together. An incredible Art and Photography Dynasty is now visible – thanks to me. My siblings and the fake ‘Caretaker’ – along with my daughter and her family – did everything to get me out of Their Picture, that is the Picture of Dorian Grey. They created a monster that destroyed a valuable Rosamond estate that I have raised the dead – with the help of Howard’s Hippies!
My decision to become a professional photographer was one I should have made years ago. When Christine Rosamond took me for a drive in the Woodland Hills, and offered to teach me her style – so I could be rich and famous, too – I should have asked her to found ‘Rosamond Portraits’ a high scale photography studio located in Westwood Village. My brother had studied photography and could have taught me. Indeed, he could have done some of the shoots. All in the Rosy Family! But, then I found her giant projector in her closet while looking for the restroom. Christine looked very guilty because she knew I was a pure artist who wanted my work to hang amongst the greats. She knew her work was very commercial, thus her offer to me. She was threatened by me. She knew no matter how much money she made, I was a better artist than her. If I became a commercial photographer, than, all’s well that ends well.

“Christine worked almost exclusively from photographs and figures she cut from magazines like Vanity Fair and Vogue and Glamour,” Garth recalls. “That’s why the women in her middle period were so exquisite – the inspiration for them came from elegant magazines that set the standard.”
Here is a photo taken of Marilyn Reed by her friend, Steven Silverstein, on Malibu Beach. they were friends. Steven was just getting started he on his way to becoming a famous fashion photographer. Marilyn made the dress she is wearing.
In 1974, Rosamond took these two photographs of me in her studio. She wanted me to be her first male subject. These images are now famous due to my extensive research. I am a Rosamond model. Christine was the model for several of her paintings. She did not use my image when she noticed this energy around me, that was also on the roll that Bryan Purvis shot and handed her.
One explanation that I came up with, it was caused by a neon light. For sure my input was thwarted by executor, Sydney Morris, who mishandled the Weston Family legacy. My friend, Michael Harkins, helped me investigate the lies that surrounded Rosamond;s death. He was a good friend of the Stackpole family. Peter Stackpole shot Liz for LIFE magazine. Eutrophia did some modeling, as did the Rosamond children. Did Royal Rosamond take these photos? Royal says the famous illustrator, Fanny Cory.
Rena Easton looked for her sister to be on the cover of a famous magazine in July of 1970. Rena has a lot to do with the marriage of my late sister into the Benton family. American magazines held beauty contests for seventy years. Jessie Benton came close to being the Queen of America.
Rena and I were meant to get married. I should have put Robert and James in the back seat, like tramps, and kept them there. I should have taught Rena how to drive, and if James gave me any lip, I would kick him out of the car like his buddy Brian did to me when he kidnapped Rena.
Rena would have been kin to real artists and writers. She should have been the Muse of Muses, painted by many famous artists. Fate had much in store for this beautiful woman.

Recently two paintings by Andy Warhol of Liz Taylor sold for a hundred million dollars. ‘The Men In Her Life’ sold for $60,000,000 million dollars. Eddie Fisher is in this Warhol work, he the father of the actress , Carrie Fischer, who wrote a screenplay about my later sister, who is the mother of the artists, Drew Benton.
Christine and Drew are kin to John Fremont who was a co-founder of Republican Party, and its firs Presidential Candidate. Three years ago I registered as a Republican in order to stand in the way of the take over my kindred’s party by the Evangelical Cult that promotes a Utopia founded by Jesus. But there was whisperings in the inky night, and hushed tales reaching earth from distant stars, and in great tales yet to be stored in the hold of the moon, whose round sails traversed the sky, its sails adjusted and trimmed to the moods of the months and seasons, but not to the moods man, for even the gods did not have their whims as yet.
Then there was talking amongst the great rocks that buttressed into the sea, so deep and ancient the voices that only the seagulls could hear them and amass took flight over the horizon. There were rumors in the pounding waves as they marched to the shore that eternity was coming to dwell on Earth, and until then, only the breaking waves could count it. And they consulted the prophets in the rocks who had no form, who let the great waves take them bit by bit and turn them into sand till they fell like colossus back into the sea. But they were not vanquished for they dwelt in the spirit of all the land and had the wisdom to know they were not immortal, that their demise would take almost forever. Thanks to a bitter disagreement between Elizabeth Taylor’s brother and the Hawaiian government, a group of hippies, surfers and Vietnam veterans were able to create their own utopia on a seven-acre stretch of beach in 1969.
Taylor camp, as it became known, was named after Howard Taylor, the actress’s older brother who owned the stretch of land on the north shore of Kauai.
An oceanographer and marine artist, Taylor lived across the bay from the plot and planned to extend his estate by building on the land.
Howard Young starting out with a photography studio, became a wealthy art dealer, hobnobbing with the rich and famous. Today he is forgotten except for his minor claim to fame of being the great-uncle of Elizabeth Taylor

A late biography or perhaps obituary states that he “left his home at the age of 10 to make his way in the world” which of course is nonsense. It is true however, that he started young in the art of photography. However the idea that he amassed a fortune of $400,000 and then lost it, is again nonsense.

By 1920 the Youngs, with Francis Taylor had relocated to New York City where Howard opened the Howard Young Galleries showcasing work of various artists of the United States and eventually Europe as well. He and Francis went on art buying expeditions as well.
Howard was class conscious, when Francis Taylor wanted to marry the actress Sarah Viola Warmbrodt known on the stage as “Sara Sothern”, Young opposed the match, until Sarah informed him that she intended to quit the stage. Francis and Sarah located in London, to start that cities branch of the Howard Young Galleries, and it was here that they had their two children Howard Taylor, named for his uncle, and Elizabeth Taylor the actress.
Howard worth several million dollars, had a penthouse in New York City overlooking Central Park, as well as a home in Wisconsin, one in Florida, and one in Connecticut. Howard was a friend of President Eisenhower. When Elizabeth Taylor’s boyfriend Glenn Davis was going to be shipped to the war in Korea, she tried to get her uncle to talk to Ike, to let Glenn out of the Army.
However, the local government had other plans and rejected Taylor’s repeated requests for building permits, as they had the intention to condemn the lot and turn it into a state park.

Linda Woolverton is a award winning writer for Disney studios. She wrote ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and both Alice in Wonderland movies. Lewis Carroll was a good friend of the Rossettis, and took numerous photographs of this gifted family that produced two poets, a artist, and the publisher of a Pre-Raphaelite magazine titled ‘The Germ’. In 1969 I declared myself a New Pre-Raphaelite and considered if my siblings and I might emulate them. Christine heard me, and took up art in 1972. Then there are our muses and models, some of them our children.

According to my aunt Lillian, her father, Royal Rosamond, taught Earle Stanley Gardener the rudiments of writing. In a taped interview Lillian told me she would fall asleep in the Rosamond home in Ventura to the sound of Roy and Earl pecking away on the Royal typewriter. Gardener is the creator of Perry Mason, an old television series about an attorney who never fails to win a case.
According to my mother, Rosemary, Royal used to sail out to the Channel Islands with his friend, Dashiell Hammett, and camp overnight. I found old photographs of my grandmother and Roy camping on one of these islands, and will post them later.
Henry Meade Bland was the Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County ad a friend of Joaquin Miller ‘The Poet of the Sierras’. Miller would come down from his poet and artist’s retreat called ‘The Heights’ and carry my father on his lap as he rode with my grandmother on the trolley to catch a ferry to San Francisco. My German kinfolk owned a orchard in the city of Fruit Vale that later became incorporated into the city of Oakland where I was born. I assume they sold their fruit to the canneries located in what is now called Jingletown, a community of Bohemians and Artists.

Meade wrote a piece about George James in the same edition of Out West magazine that Royal Rosamond’s story ‘Camping on Ananapa’ is found. Below is Meade’s history written by Eugene T. Sawyers who was titled ‘The King of Dime Novelists’. Eugene authored the Nick Carter series. Hammett was titled “The dean of the hard-boiled’ school of detective fiction”. Royal wrote several love stories for early California Romance magazines. Rosamond’s poems are found next to George Sterling’s and Joaquin Millers.
When you remove the extras and the troubles others have brought to the creative endeavors of two abused siblings – who against all odds performed a miracle – then alas the light they shared come forth without cunning and destructive obstructions. Step back from the decaying fray and fraudulent claims, and behold the beautiful women Christine Rosamond Presco, rendered, and the New Pre-Raphaelite Newspaper, John Gregory Presco, has been publishing for twenty years! The world wants to know how we did it, a high school drop out, and a single mother raising her daughter on welfare. Our abusive alcoholic parents contributed nothing to our miracle. Instead, they put before us what appeared to be insurmountable obstacles. Then, there are the bad business people who bankrupted this important artistic legacy, and took Garth Benton’s side in the divorce – before Christine mysteriously drowned – and after!
Christine would bless this post on Royal Rosamond Press, verses the ‘The Final Divorce’ that a ghost writer published in order to posthumously blame everything on Rosamond – and her mother, Rosemary, who is in contention for the role of the Evil Queen.
I would love to paint everyone in a wonderful light, but, they will not cease crawling around in the dark trying to manipulate the outcome. After my own daughter disqualified me, in yet another elimination round, I trust no living member of my family. They are unredeemable. However, Belle and her Sleepy Street Urchins, are going to play a big role, and are redeemable, because they wanted to help the Homeless.

Two years ago I received in the mail a book I ordered on E-Bay. I quickly scanned it to see if their were any illustrations or photographs. Then, I found it, what amounts to my personal Holy Grail. Joaquin Miller dedicated his book of poems ‘Songs of The Sun-Land’ to the Rossetti family that includes Gariel, Michael, and, Christine. Gabriel was a artist and poet, Michael, a publisher, and Christine, a poet.

There is controversy over this dedication. Michael is against it. He is critical of Miller’s poems that takes the reader to the Holy Land. Joaquin is describing a personal relationship with the Savior that reminds me of how Bohemians and Hippies would view Jesus, he a Nature Boy of sorts.
Gabriel, who had Joaquin over to his house for dinner, where he met several members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood seems to address his brother’s objections in a letter, and gives a tentative go ahead. He talks about Miller sending him a photograph of himself and bids him to say a word or two at the bottom of it, that does not exist. This photo may be the famous one taken by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, who is better known as Lewis Carrol the author of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. If Joaquin had glued this portrait to a piece of paper, then we might have seen it on the dedication page.
What is going on here is extremely profound. Miller has exported his vision and lifestyle to the England, where he wrote Song of the Sierras, and now he is importing to America a cultural brand that contains Grail and Arthurian subject matter that was at the epicenter of the work of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
The Rossettis may not have been too happy with Miller attaching himself to their star because the British are very protective of their culture. I wish I could say the same thing about the University of Oregon that is about to tear down homes that were once in the city limits of Fairmount, the city founded by Joaquin’s brother, George Miller.
The homes the Miller brothers lived in are registered and protected as Monuments. There is a Joaquin Miller State Park near Florence that was founded by George who also promoted the Winnemucca to the Sea Highway. There needs to be a Monument for George. I suggest the homes on Columbia Terrace be spared, and this city block declared a National Monument. I have suggested these homes be used to house homeless Vets going to college, but now I see a Free College on this site due to the student loan crisis.
This college will teach alternatives to prospective students of the UofO, such as having parents of students purchase a home in Eugene. In many cases a mortgage is cheaper than rent. Teaching your children how to get a job rather then attend college, will produce more home ownership that the UofO who promises jobs – that don’t exist!
The Miller Brothers were born on a farm near Coburg. They went into the world and achieved much. They are a cultural icon too Oregon and California. On page ten of the prelude, we read;
“By unnamed rivers of the Oregon north’
That roll dark-heaved into turbulent hills,
I have made my home….The Wild heart thrills
With memories fierce, and world storms forth.”
I once read that many college students didn’t know there was a Oregon, and if they did, they didn’t know where it is. The Rossettis more than likely read these words. Did they go to a globe to see where Joaquin and George live?
How many students at the UofO know who the Miller brothers were, and the Brotherhood.

I am looking for descendants of Philip Rosemond and Moses Morton Rosemond
who lived in Guernsey County, OH in the mid-1800s. This family descended
from a James Rosemond who lived in County Leitrim, Ireland in the early
1700s. Other members of this same family settled in Lanark, Ontario, Canada.
The southern Rosamond family is also said to be descended from this same
family, as are the Rosamond families in Australia and New Zealand. I am
trying to tie all the branches of the family together. The information on
the family in Guernsey County, OH is shown below. I'd appreciate hearing
from anyone who has any information regarding this family.

Ark Citians recollect connections with Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor’s brother and his wife returned home Wednesday night after a distressing day that included a trip to the dentist in Taos, N.M.
Howard Taylor and his wife Mara had learned earlier that day that his younger sister — the legendary actress with beautiful violet eyes — had died of congestive heart failure at age 79.
Just before bedtime, he went to his computer and googled “Elizabeth Taylor.” Eventually he found a picture and clicked on it.
It showed Elizabeth and him as young children in an outdoor setting. She was on a pedestal, holding a little kitten in her hand, and he was standing beside her with a pet dog.
“I had to be in town yesterday most of the time. I had a root canal,” Howard said in a phone interview Thursday. “By the time I got home, we were pretty confused and distraught.”
A private funeral service for Elizabeth Taylor was held Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, a Los Angeles suburb.
Elizabeth and Howard Taylor visited Arkansas City on several occasions when they were little children, according to several sources, including Ark City residents and former residents — some living and some who have passed away.
The two children attended Roosevelt Elementary School while on one of those visits.
Ark City was their mother’s birthplace and the town where both the mother, Sara Warmbrodt, and their father, Francis Taylor, grew up.
Elizabeth and Howard’s paternal grandparents made their home in Ark City. The Taylor grandparents lived in a brick house at 310 N. A St. where the Taylor children stayed on several occasions.
In the interview Thursday, Howard Taylor confirmed that he and Elizabeth stayed in Ark City with their grandparents and went to school here. But he said he doesn’t remember much about that experience.
But in a previous phone interview with the Traveler in June 2006, Howard’s wife Mara provided a few more details.
Elizabeth attended kindergarten and Howard attended third grade for a brief time, Mara Taylor said.
“He just said that he and his family traveled there from England to visit the Taylors, and that Mrs. Taylor wasn’t well,” she said. “He thought it was really nifty that he got to wear the kind of kidney-colored long pants that boys wore then to school.”
In 1997 or 1998, Howard and Mara Taylor took a driving trip to Kansas to buy a camper shell for Howard’s pickup truck in Paola, Mara Taylor said in the 2006 interview. They also stopped at Cedar Vale but didn’t travel to Ark City, she recalled.
Howard and Elizabeth took different career paths. He said he had no interest in the movie business.
“Not at all. I did my very best to stay out of it. And that’s one of the biggest successes in my life.”
Howard Taylor, 81, pursued multiple careers, including oceanography and marine painting, according to the biography, “Liz,” by C. David Heymann. He and his family moved to Taos from Kauai, Hawaii, in 1980.
He opened a branch of the Taylor Art Gallery, a business his father Francis started, according to Heymann’s biography.
Howard Taylor’s avocations have included horseback riding and skiing, he said, but he doesn’t pursue those now that he is older, he said.
Arkansas City Friends of the Taylors
Elizabeth Taylor’s parents had a close connection to the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Howard, former Ark City residents.
Ric Howard, of New Orleans, is the grandson of Harry and Dorothy Howard. In an email and phone interview, he provided information about his grandparents’ friendship with Francis and Sara Warmbrodt Taylor.
He said that Sara Taylor was maid of honor at his grandparents’ wedding, and the Howards were close friends with the Taylors.
“My father, Richard R. Howard (a physician), was godchild to Sara Taylor,” said Ric Howard, who has a doctorate in biochemistry from Tulane.
The Taylors — particularly Francis — corresponded with Dorothy Howard, he said, “talking about Elizabeth’s breakthrough in acting and the filming of ‘National Velvet’ at that time.”
Howard said he personally saw those letters and also a Christmas card sent to his grandparents with Elizabeth’s photo on the set of “Lassie.”
“I had possession of these letters, but regrettably they were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina,” he said.
Howard and Elizabeth also stayed at Harry and Dorothy Howard’s Ark City home on several occasions in the 1930s, when Elizabeth’s parents or grandparents were out of town, Ric Howard said.
“This was early on, I believe, before Elizabeth’s career,” he said.
Arkansas City native Barclay Howard Ross is another member of the Howard family. Ross now lives with her family in Kansas City. In a phone interview, she recalled that her mother met Elizabeth when she was a little girl.
“All she could talk about was (Elizabeth’s) beautiful violet-blue eyes,” Barclay Ross said, referring to her mother, the late Jeri Ames Howard.
Jeri Howard told her daughter about meeting Elizabeth who was only about 4 years old at the time, Barclay Ross said. That was around 1936 when Jeri was 16 years old.
The meeting took place during a visit by Jeri to her aunt, Lena Moore, who lived next door to the Taylor house on A Street, Ross said that her mother told her.
“(Elizabeth) was just next door; they were in the yard,” Ross said.
More Ark City connections
Ark City resident Bill Eikleberry lived and worked in the Los Angeles area in the mid-1980s when he met Elizabeth Taylor.
Eikleberry worked for a designer shoe and clothing store in an upscale shopping area on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
Many movie stars shopped there, he said. And he waited on many of them including Harrison Ford, Goldie Hawn, Sally Field, Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand, Jodi Foster, Liza Minnelli, Kevin Costner, Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks.
But meeting Elizabeth Taylor was different, said Eikleberry, a Kansas native who moved to Ark City six years ago.
“She was special, an icon, even back then,” he said.
Eikleberry knew that Taylor wanted everything she bought delivered, he said. And after he sold her a pair of high-heeled dress shoes, he took it on himself to deliver them to her in person.
“I took (the shoes) to her house and didn’t get past the guard gate,” he said. “I couldn’t even see the house because the drive was so long.”
Another former Ark City resident, the late Elizabeth Asbell Hentrich, had fond memories of the Taylor house on A Street. Hentrich died five years ago at age 94 in Wichita, where she lived in her later years.
Hentrich worked as a maid for the Taylors at the A Street house. Although she never met Elizabeth Taylor or her brother Howard, she became close to some of the Taylor family members.
In a 2006 interview, Hentrich’s daughter provided the Traveler information from her ailing mother on her memories of the Taylors.
As a young, unmarried woman, Hentrich — then called by her maiden name, Asbell — worked as a housekeeper for Elizabeth’s paternal grandparents. That was sometime in the 1930s, said Hentrich’s daughter, Janice Whitaker.
Her mother did housework, cooking and tending to the Taylors’ needs, said Whitaker, also an Arkansas City native who now lives in Wichita.
The Taylors’ grandchildren lived in England at the time that Hentrich worked there, she said.
“Mom said Francis and Sara (Elizabeth Taylor’s parents) never lived in Ark City during the 1929-1941 years,” Whitaker said. “They would come from London for a visit but never to live.”
But her mother did meet Elizabeth Taylor’s father, Francis, when he visited his grandparents in Ark City.
“He never brought his family,” Whitaker said. “She couldn’t remember the years he visited. She said he was a very nice man.”
The famed actress’s grandparents, Francis M. Taylor and Elizabeth M. Taylor, were generous people, according to Whitaker’s mother. They bought their housekeeper gifts and were “exceptionally kind,” she said.
The Taylors were members of Central Christian Church before transferring their membership to the Presbyterian Church, she said. Their interests included listening to the radio and playing cards with friends.
“I did housework and cooking,” Hentrich said. “I took care of their household needs. I was allowed to sit with them to eat their meals. I was treated very well.”
Hentrich said that she worked for the Taylors for three or four years. During that time, Francis Taylor worked in insurance and his wife stayed at home.
“I know my mother quit school in her junior year in high school so she could help her family during the Depression,” Whitaker said. “I also know she worked for them when (President Franklin D.) Roosevelt closed the banks.”
Elizabeth Taylor and her brother, Howard, made another visit that has been written about.
Sara Warmbrodt — whose stage name was Sara Sothern — wrote that her daughter spent her first Christmas, when she was 10 months old, “with Mother and Daddy Taylor in Kansas.”
