The Tie-Dye Poet With Muse

I blew-up my pic of Rena and took her to a poetry reading. Mr.Izzy Tie-Dye was there, and asked if Rena Easton can be his muse – too! Above is Izzy with star of Animal House in front of Kesey mural. Izzy and Kenny Reed were in the documentary about the making of this famous movie, that is honored at every Duck game.

renap0003Marilyn Reed called me about 5:00 P.M. and told me this was the last Jazz & Poetry Night at the Granary. After three years, it was time for the Muse of Poetry and Jazz, to seek another abode. Many hearts did she warm. Many bright words came from starry beings.

I had little time to prepare. I wanted to bring my blow-up of Rena’s photo that she gave me in 1970 when she was 18. I had brought my muse here before in order to read my poem I wrote about her. Now that we were exchanging words, I wanted to read her poem while the audience beheld her beauty.

While reading ‘All Winter Long’ I wished there was a young woman who would read Rena’s poem. All of a sudden, Marilyn’s daughter walked in and sat next to me. I have known Nisha since 1987 when she was four years old. She was my surrogate daughter before my daughter came into my life. Marilyn was my first girlfriend. She has memories of all members of my family, and I hold memories of her family.

Marilyn read a poem, and then sang the words while her husband’s Jazz band backed her up. Nisha missed this. She had never read a poem in public. She played Cello at the Universtity of Oregon and performs Asian Music all over town.

After reading Rena’s poem, twice, her step-father called us up to read. After reading it once, Nisha started to read it again, but then, she began to sing. She never sings, least on stage. Her voice became an instrument. It was spell binding because Nisha’s muse took hold of her, and, Rena at eighteen years old, came into the room. There was magic and light in the room. I now own the end of my autobiography. I am with those who love the Muse.

There is nothing more I expect of Rena Victoria Easton. We have been embraced. We are made complete with the sharing of our love, our soul, and our story. This video is a true miracle.

In her letter Rena says “I have a million poems memorized.” that she recites while she works. So, for now the Muse will be broadcasting sonnets from KMUS Bozeman Montana while accompanied by – vacuum cleaner?

ater I am awake, and am working on Rena Christensen’s charater.

RENA: After her husband dies, she discovers the families lost mineral rights they thought they owned, was misfiled as a Deed to 131,444 acres of land outside Bozeman that everyone assumed was owned by the Feds. Selling off 100,000 acres made Rena a wealthy woman, and she built a fabulous log cabin on the remaining acres where she raises horses. She hired six young men who call themselves The Proud Brown Hat Boys’ who act as Rena’s bodyguards because she is afraid of just about everything, but horses. She can ride like the wind.

So, I got off my sofa and googled ‘large ranches Montana” and struck – GOLD! I discovered Ten Turner owns a large ranch outside of Bozeman. Then I google Jane Fonda – and she owns a ranch in New Mexico. Jane was involved with the Black Panthers and, she and Tom Hayden adopted a girl whose father was a Black Panther in Oakland…….WHAT? I founded the Marin Shipmates after the Black Panthers, and, my childhood sweetheart’s sister knew the Black Panthers. Shauna and Carlos Moore co-authored ‘Fela: This Bitch of a life’ that became a off Broadway musical! WHAT!!!!

What I would like to do is use Ted and Jane’s real names in my semi-fiction Bond novel ‘The Royal Janitor’ that is inspired by Rena Easton who I believe has a split personality. Don’t get on her dark side. She is both Victoria and Miriam. I am John von John who discovers he has a twin brother who works for BAD and is called ‘The Wizard’.

I have been following the High Noon and ZARDOZ theme in much of the fiction I am writing.

SYNOPSIS: Widow Easton funds the Bozeman Art and MADA Happening with her windfall. She loathes the Hillary Bunch, and considers Biden a lackey for a vast conspiracy disguised as a World Ecological movement. She wants to make sure Montana remains a Red State. Her neighbor, Ted Turner gets wind of her right-wing art show, and plans an entry into the opening Grand Parade. Jane Fonda hears about this showdown, and puts todether a leftists artsey-fartsey crew of Hollywood Liberal. There is a rumor the New Black Panther Party is making a float – with band!

Seeing her Right-wing Art Festival is turning into a Left-wing affair, Rena contacts Ted Cruz and gives him a invite. She had heard Ted had a French Horn Ensemble he put together called ‘The Texas Plowboys’. Most of the members are grandchildren of Cuban spies who took part in the Bay of Pigs fiasco. Veteran, Jesus Gonzales was one of the first Cuban militiamen to hit the beach, and is the conductor. Here they are playing a tune from Beauty and the Beast.

I am in negotiation with a couple who I saw singing in a bar in the little Oregon town of Scappoose that I saw on a Ken Babb’s facebook. Now they are playing hard to get. I thought I could drop $20 dollars in their fundme page, but, after saying I am making a James Bond movie – they probably want a cool million.

“Can she be my muse, too?”

When I heard Izzy Whetstine ask this question after Nisha and I were done doing our multimedia presentation of Rena Easton’s poem, I winced. Rena is not going to know who that is. She will think he is a dirty old man. Well, Izzy is just that, but, he is also a well-known poet and performer, and a Merry Prankster. Izzy was also in the movie Animal House, he the guy who measures the dead horse.

So, in doing an inventory of things I might have done wrong in the eyes of the Perfect One, who spends eight hours a day in the tower of whirling dervishes reciting all of Rumi’s poem in order to achieve enlightenment, Izzy’s gravelly voice came up as a major suspect. In her mind, I have dragged the Pure One out of her tower and into the mean streets of denigration. Oh, what steps Rena took to make shure that never happened. And she trusted me, again – with her life!

I had taken that image of Rena to the poetry reading before, and read my poem about her to this image. After arriving back at my home, I saw Rena in the front seat of my Ford Truck where I had fantasy’s of seeing her one day. I took a photo of her. Then another. I made a video saying to myself;

“Am I really going to do this? This might be taken the wrong way.”

I think Dan Mayland’s file is going to be huge by the time I’m done.

ITEM 205 Ms. Easton’s effigy kidnapped by Merry Pranksters and humiliated at Wild Bongo Poetry Reading.

As I took these photos, Erik and Christine crossed my mind. Phantom of the Poetry! This looks like a arty poetic kidnapping, or, another rescue of Rena from a prison in Siberia. I mean, her letter paints a very pathetic picture of an ex-ballerina who takes lonely walks in the snow looking at wolf tracks. And for fun, she sits in Starbucks after work gauging her fear level. Does she take walks with her husband, whose name I was not told? When’s the last time he took her out – to trip the lights fantastic?

Rena promises we would get to the “fun stuff” in her letter, but, come Saturday night in her neck of the woods, one get their kicks counting wolf steps in the snow while reciting the Poems of Edgar Allen Poe. What a colorless world right out of Doctor Zhivago. Give me my tied-dyed rainbow freaks right here in the Emerald Valley. In Montana, they only got one color, Red-neck, and one on-going poetry reading – that no one attends!

Why don’t you make a video of you reading your poems? You always were a chicken-shit, afraid of the ocean, and now – most of life? Does the sheriff wear an apron? I ask this because it looks like cowboys in Montana are afraid of Poets. This wasn’t the case when my grandfather rode the range.

You can put this in your files, Dan Wayland. Here is my Redneck Woman, my neighbor Alberta Hurt who used to have a farm nearby, where she had prisoner help. Dudes were let out on furlough to come help her collect her eggs. She was all by herself. For kicks she rides around with the Springfield K9 Unit. Here we are off to Cowboy Church where she was hot to read her poem, but this guest cowboy from Jesus – would not yield the podium. So my friend had me park (illegally) in a dark alley, while she read me her poem. Hmmmm!

Yep! We know what the folks in Montana raise – chicken-shit!

“Sometimes when I got ‘Big Blue’ out on the highway I make a left turn in my mind, and come to Nebraska to get you. And then we head to Alaska where we build our cabin. Have you ever wanted to build a house from scratch? Do you wear blue overalls?”

Here I am three miles out of town on 99 with the Dirty Old Lady who’s had a crush on me the day she lay eyes on me at the Texas Hold-em game. Folks can tell ya, she’s been stalking me! After her scheme to get me to live in the spare bedroom, failed, and when I did not come calling enough, she moved to another complex down the street, because, I broke her heart. She wanted just her and I to ride off into the sunset, like the Misfits, because she watches that Jesus-freak on T.V. telling her the world is going to end. I love Alberta. At ninety years of age, the only thing she fears is – Armageddon – and the Lord!

About 150 people showed up at the Borders bookstore in Eugene without a clue as to what would unfold unfold – inline  when Kesey’s friends arrived to promote a citywide reading initiative that encourages residents to read Kesey’s book “Sometimes a Great Notion.”

“That’s part of the beauty of the Pranksters. You don’t know Don’t know (DK, DKed)

Pranks are fun and unexpected, not malicious. Kind of a cosmic gotcha (jargon, programming) gotcha – A misfeature of a system, especially a programming language or environment, that tends to breed bugs or mistakes because it both enticingly easy to invoke and completely unexpected and/or unreasonable in its outcome. .”

Sass, who has been a Kesey follower since 1967, waited at the bookstore Saturday afternoon for the Pranksters to arrive.

He said he didn’t want to miss any of the fun, even if he didn’t know what to expect.

Even the bookstore employees were uncertain of the antics that would invade their store as Kesey’s longtime friend Ken Babbs and other Pranksters arrived.

“It’s a mystery,” merchandise manager Craig Winter said. “They haven’t told us what they’re doing.”

The Pranksters’ appearance Saturday was one of several they’ve planned at area bookstores later this month and in March to encourage people to read and discuss “Sometimes a Great Notion.”

The reading initiative will last until April 1, when the first of two screenings of a movie based on the book will be held at the McDonald Theatre downtown.

“When they show up in the bus, it’s like the ice cream man showing up in the neighborhood on a hot summer day,” Gayle Miller of Eugene said as Kesey fans spilled into the Borders parking lot to greet the Pranksters.

During the 45-minute event, the main Pranksters for the day – Babbs, Whetstine and Dietz – shared stories about Kesey, read e-mails they were sent after the author’s death and read excerpts of his writings.

“Ken might be dead, but he keeps me up every night,” Babbs said. “I had too much to dream last night.”

Babbs said Kesey’s “dream state” is a busy place to be.

In his dreams, Babbs said, Kesey encourages him to promote events, such as the reading initiative.

“It’s a continuation of Kesey’s work, and a way of extending from him to the people his best wishes and his writing,” Babbs said after the event.

He said the Pranksters’ appearances will be more entertaining in the future as they have more time to practice their antics.

“We’ll look to do little acts like we did today,” he said. “By the end of this (initiative) we should have something down pretty good.”

The group’s pranks were few on Saturday, but the audience was receptive.

When Whetstine approached the microphone to read a short message about Kesey, the microphone fell from its stand.

Babbs and Whetstine struggled with it without immediate success.

“We’re getting nowhere,” Whetstine said.

“But older. We’re getting nowhere but older,” Babbs added.

The whirling dance or Sufi whirling that is proverbially associated with Dervishes is best known in the West by the practices (performances) of the Mevlevi order in Turkey, and is part of a formal ceremony known as the Sema. It is, however, also practiced by other orders. The Sema is only one of the many Sufi ceremonies performed to try to reach religious ecstasy (majdhb, fana). The name Mevlevi comes from the Persian poet, Rumi who was a Dervish himself. This practice, though not intended as entertainment, has become a tourist attraction in Turkey.[9] [10][11]

was a 13th-century Persian[1][6] poet, jurist, theologian, and Sufi mystic.[7] Iranians, Turks, Afghans, Tajiks, and other Central Asian Muslims as well as the Muslims of South Asia have greatly appreciated his spiritual legacy in the past seven centuries.[8] Rumi’s importance is considered to transcend national and ethnic borders. His poems have been widely translated into many of the world’s languages and transposed into various formats. In 2007, he was described as the “most popular poet in America.”[9]

A funny thing happened to me on the way to the Lane County Historical Society & Museum, I found the car John Belishi drove at the end of the movie ‘Animal House’. It is located inside a vintage warehouse located on Franklin Street a hundred yards from where a convention center is to be built. This building and about twelve homes were under the wrecking ball ten years ago when a company owned by Dubai royalty tried to buy up this property in order to build a hotel apartment complex. Five years ago I was introduced to Jim who owned a home on Brooklyn Street that Dubai and Sid Leiken wanted to buy – and tear down. Jim is an old Bohemian who along with his neighbors, asked a million dollars for his land. This nixed the deal with Dubai.

Now, the same plan is back under new names. There exist an extensive study made in 2006, paid for by the tax payers – that is being hidden. The Stakeholders were not summoned again to view the Son of Glenwood. I will be meeting with the archivest at the Lane Museum this morning. When I suggested she acquire Belushi’s car, she said there was no room for it. I told her this car would bring folks from all over the world to look at it, and thus, there would be visitors, verses, no visitors! The question I will be putting forth in my blogs for the next week, is.. Why build a convention/hotel complex using tax payers money, when there is nothing TO SEE when the out-of-towners get here, because our City Leaders keep tearing down, and throwing away, the NORMAL STUFF most folks want to city in other cities! My friend Kenny Reed appeared in a documentary about the making of Animal House, along with Izzy, a Merry Prankster.

What we got here is that classic movie where a town of Small People are being pushed around by a Big Developer who is backed by Oil Sheiks from Dubai who want to build a giant Crescent Moon with Star in the heart of Springtucky.

Bluto’s son is the King of the Belusihi Bohemians who live in Gypsy wagons camped down by the river, and is married to Esmerelda, the Dancing Goat Girl, who leads a band of merry campers against the Evil Axis of Apex, and the legal team put together by Bill Gate’s father who wins a legal battle to prevent Esmerelda’s goats from grazing on the grass by the river. When all seems lost, the Tea Party Stakeholders come riding to the rescue.

El Sid Laiken went to college with the royal brothers from Dubai whose names escape me. They have gone underground, and was on the team to bring Dubai royalty into our valley.

Consider this blog to be the movie script I will be sending out to some producers.

I am going to found a Bohemian Government in the Emerald Valley that will conduct the normal business Bohemians have been conducting for centuries. We’ll just pretend elected officials don’t exist. However, we will invite The Mayors to have lunch with us once a month in hope the cultural warfare being waged against Bohemians, will one day be over.

We will then rename the EMERALD Valley, ESMERALDA Valley, where it will be Country Fair time everyday!

The local development group, Glenwood H&CC LLC, announced the project April 2. The group said it has secured the money needed to build the 150-suite riverfront hotel behind the Ramsey Waite equipment dealership. They estimate the hotel would cost nearly $26 million.

Five days later, the Springfield City Council committed up to $2.5 million in public funds over the next decade to help build the adjacent conference center, estimated to cost $17.1 million. The council made the decision quickly and with no discussion.

Bohemianism is the practice of an unconventional lifestyle, often in the company of like-minded people, with few permanent ties, involving musical, artistic, or literary pursuits. In this context, Bohemians may be wanderers, adventurers, or vagabonds.

This use of the word bohemian first appeared in the English language in the nineteenth century[1] to describe the non-traditional lifestyles of marginalized and impoverished artists, writers, journalists, musicians, and actors in major European cities. Bohemians were associated with unorthodox or anti-establishment political or social viewpoints, which often were expressed through free love, frugality, and—in some cases—voluntary poverty. A wealthy and privileged, even aristocratic, bohemian circle is sometimes referred to as the haute bohème[2] (“high bohemians”).[3]

The term Bohemianism emerged in France in the early nineteenth century when artists and creators began to concentrate in the lower-rent, lower class, gypsy neighborhoods. Bohémien was a common term for the Romani people of France, who had reached Western Europe via Bohemia.[4]

Documentary crew returns to recount ‘Animal House’ filming

Posted: Wednesday, Feb 13th, 2013 By Jon Stinnett The Cottage Grove Sentinel

photo by Jon Stinnett James “Izzy” Whetstine, left, and drummer Kenny Reed take a break from filming a documentary on the making of ‘Animal House’ Friday. Whetstine played a janitor responsible for dealing with a dead horse in the movie.

Many longtime Cottage Grove residents can recall a raucous parade that occurred downtown on Main Street in 1978. Today, scenes from that day live on as the zany finale to the highest-grossing comedy film of all time, Warner Bros.’ Animal House, and last week, a documentary film crew returned to the scene of the action to recount the part Cottage Grove played in film history. The documentary, “Animal House of Blues,” started as a project for a group of students at the University of Oregon, according to its creator, Katherine Wilson. “The class covered films of interest from the 1970s,” she said. “But after the class ended, my students told me that they needed to be interns and get some experience, that they wanted to make a movie.” Wilson said her students wanted to help her complete “Animal House of Blues,” a project she’d sought to finish herself for over a decade. “I’d been trying for 10 years, and it was going to cost me $100,000,” she said. “But we got to work, and the kids had everything I didn’t. We shot a short film in five weeks, and the students graduated with honors. Then they started telling me that they wanted to make the whole thing (the entire film.)” Wilson knew she couldn’t afford the licensing from Warner Bros. necessary to include parts of ‘Animal House’ in her own film, but she and her students entered their documentary in the Eugene International Film Festival anyway. There, ‘Animal House of Blues’ received an award for best documentary, and soon after, Wilson was meeting with representatives from Lion’s Gate and ABC Video about preparing the film for worldwide distribution. She said the film is slated for release in May, and last week, she rounded up a cast of characters to film scenes reminiscent of those in the original ‘Animal House’ and the anniversary toga party that happened here in 2003, an event Wilson called “the most incredible thing any town has ever put on.” For the complete article see the 02-13-2013 issue.

Ken Kesey‘s brother Chuck, and Chuck’s wife Sue started the Springfield Creamery in 1960, and the business survives today based partly on sales of their flagship product, Nancy’s Yogurt, developed from recipes of Nancy Hamren. The project would be the third attempt at a major redevelopment project in Glenwood in about the past decade. In 2006, the city picked Apex Investment Group, an international development firm, to redevelop a 48-acre stretch of riverfront between Franklin Boulevard and the river. Apex later dropped out, saying market conditions were unfavorable. The city had rejected another development proposal from a local group that included Greg Vik, president of a local construction company who is now a member of Glenwood H&CC LLC. Vik and his partner then proposed building a hotel with a 50,000-square-foot convention center in Glenwood, but that project never got off the ground. Richard Boyles, president and co-founder of Springfield-based InnSight Hotel Management Group, which manages about a dozen hotels in Oregon and Washington, remains skeptical of the latest Glenwood project. Boyles said Vik approached him a year or two ago about joining the project. Boyles passed on the venture. Boyles questioned whether there is a enough conference business to make the project profitable. He also wondered whether conference bookers will be keen to hold events at that location when some attendees would have to stay elsewhere. “Its time will come,” Boyles said of Glenwood. “But to lead that redevelopment with a hotel I didn’t feel would be a successful venture.” Allen Lonstron, another member of the local development group, acknowledged that attendees would have to stay at other hotels in the area until Glenwood redevelops with more hotel rooms. But he said that’s typically the case with conference centers and doesn’t see it as a setback. Boyles is “partly right because we don’t have enough (full-service) hotel rooms,” Lonstron said. “That’s not going to keep us from having business.” Lonstron said the Eugene-Springfield area has fewer rooms and meeting space at full-service hotels, which include rooms, meeting space and in-house food service, than it did a decade ago. The area has three full-service hotels: the Hilton Eugene, the Valley River Inn and the Holiday Inn Eugene/Springfield. The Lane Events Center and Lane Community College have meeting space but no hotel rooms on site. They’re not alone The hotel and conference center proposal comes as developers increasingly focus on Glenwood. Next door to the proposed hotel site, two developers are scheduled to begin construction on a $22 million affordable-housing development next year that also will receive government subsidies. When completed, it would feature two or three buildings with 150 apartments, ground-floor commercial spaces and meeting rooms. “This is an important opportunity for the community to further develop Glenwood while providing much needed affordable housing,” said Richard Herman, executive director of the nonprofit Cornerstone Community Housing, one of the partners in the project.

Director Leiken asked if SEDA members were allowed to contact representatives of the

Portland Development Corporation about its experience with APEX. SEDA Attorney Joe

Leahy stated that since no decision regarding a contract with APEX would be made at the

current meeting, such contact was permitted.

Mr. Tamulonis reviewed previous consideration of a request from the Southwestern

Oregon Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for matching funds for a

grant it had received to conduct an Urban Riverfront Corridor Study. He said he had

received support for the project from Apex representatives.

Mr. Tamulonis reported that Glenwood Society for Livable Communities, a committee

made up of area residents, had been formed and would be considered for official recognition

at a later date.

He explained that it would include a series of forums and charrettes bringing together

civic leaders and interested citizens to shape a vision for its future. He said the Franklin

Urban Riverfront Corridor Study was the only project funded in the state of Oregon.

Mr. Paz said the study would be the first comprehensive urban design analysis of the

main linkage between Eugene and Springfield and their shared riverfront. He noted

that the description of the project recognized that limited “piece-meal” studies that had

been conducted which were focused on commercial real estate development and corresponding

zoning issues. He emphasized the value of the partnership of the University

of Oregon in the project. He said the grant matching funds being requested from

SEDA and the City of Eugene would enable publication of the findings of the study.

Eric Gunderson stated that he also represented the Southwestern Oregon AIA Chapter.

He distributed copies of AIA Architecture, published by the chapter containing information

about the project, and a document entitled “Bridging Communities: Franklin

Corridor Study 2007 – It’s All Here.” He reviewed plans for workshops to be included.

He emphasized the comprehensive nature and significance of public involvement in it.

Director Ralston asked if the end-product of the study would have a practical use. Mr.

Paz replied that the study was more than an “educational exercise” and would be embedded

in the community. He said administrative staffs of Eugene, Springfield, and

University of Oregon supported the project, as did the Mayor of Eugene and Lane

Transit District (LTD). He said outcomes of the study would include recommendations

for streetscape designs and setback studies. He said it was not intended to develop

uniform standards for the entire corridor, but be based on conversations with interested

design professionals and citizens regarding each subsection. He said its main

value would be to provide a comprehensive view of the entire study area.

Director Lundberg said she believed the studies were a natural next step in the redevelopment

of Glenwood and would need to be done even without the involvement of

the APEX proposal. She said she was interested in the possibility of a quid pro quo

response from APEX.

Director Stewart said he had heard APEX representatives express the need for updated

market studies before it made a final decision to go forward with its redevelopment

proposal. He suggested that SEDA funding of the proposed studies was a “good

faith” gesture and that he did not believe SEDA was in a position to request that APEX

share the cost.

Director Pishioneri moved, seconded by Director Leiken, to request that the City

of Springfield contract with Leland Consulting Group for market and feasibility

studies of properties in the Glenwood Riverfront area; and to provide for SEDA

reimbursement to the City for the proposed services.

Legal Counsel Joe Leahy stated that SEDA did not have contracting policies in place

and the motion would facilitate establishing the needed legal arrangements for the

studies. He said he had received assurances from other Civil Attorneys that the arrangement

was appropriate and efficacious. He said if the motion was adopted, an

agreement for its implementation would be presented at the next SEDA meeting.

The motion was adopted unanimously, 8:0.

E. Outside Legal Counsel

Mr. Leahy referred to Agenda item support material regarding a proposal to engage

The group’s original goal was to protect African Americans from police brutality, but continued to evolve into a revolutionary movement that worked to change social and economic inequality that Black Americans continued to face following civil rights legislation.

In 1968, Fonda was pregnant and living in France with her then-husband Roger Vadim. She decided to return to the United States, leading civil rights protests with members of the Black Panther Party. She also contributed personal donations and solicited funds for the group.

Mary Luana “Lulu” Williams was born on October 13, 1967, the fifth daughter to Randy and Mary Williams. Both of her parents were members of the Black Panther Party, a hate group known for fear and intimidation. The family lived at the heart of the movement in East Oakland, California, during the height of the Vietnam WarRace riots and Civil Rights Movement, in an era Williams would later describe as “violent and frenzied”.[2][3] Mary’s father Randy was a captain within the Panthers militaristic hierarchy and participated in the controversial Armed Citizens’ Patrol, where Panthers would tail police and patrol neighborhoods, ready to defend any blacks they saw being threatened by police. In April 1970, Williams’ father and other Panthers witnessed several police officers arresting four black marijuana suspects and they intervened, ambushing and wounding three of the officers before fleeing. Thirty patrol cars pursued them on a high speed car chase while the Panthers tried to discourage pursuit by throwing molotov cocktails. Randy Williams was apprehended, charged with assault with intent to murder and given a seven-year sentence at a Correctional Training Facility near Soledad, California. At the time, Williams was four. Her mother was left to care for Williams and her five siblings, eventually becoming physically abusive while descending into alcoholism.[3] Williams’s family further deteriorated when one of her siblings ran away and another turned to street prostitution as well as crack cocaine.[4] Williams and her siblings were signed up for Laurel Springs Children’s Camp, a camp started by Fonda that was located on 160 acres near Santa Monica, California. She got to know Fonda while at the camp, and returned over successive years even when her siblings did not.

Turner’s penchant for controversial statements earned him the nicknames “The Mouth of the South” and “Captain Outrageous”.[4][5] Turner has also devoted his assets to environmental causes. He was the largest private landowner in the United States until John C. Turner’s penchant for controversial statements earned him the nicknames “The Mouth of the South” and “Captain Outrageous”.[4][5] Turner has also devoted his assets to environmental causes. He was the largest private landowner in the United States until John C. Malone surpassed him in 2011.[6][7] He uses much of his land for ranches to re-popularize bison meat (for his Ted’s Montana Grill chain), amassing the largest herd in the world. He also created the environmental-themed animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers.[8]

Ted Turner – Wikipedia

Turner’s net worth rose to $100 million. He bought a 5,000-acre (20 km2) plantation in Jacksonboro, South Carolina, for $2 million.[18

Having now acquired MGM’s library of 2,200 films made before 1986, Turner had them syndicated on his nationwide television stations.[29] When broadcasting their older films, he aired colorized versions of ones originally shot in black-and-white.[32] Opposition arose from cinephiles, actors, and directors to Turner’s colorization efforts. Film critic Roger Ebert wrote on Turner’s broadcasting of a colorized Casablanca, “that will be one of the saddest days in the history of the movies. It is sad because it demonstrates that there is no movie that Turner will spare, no classic however great that is safe from the vulgarity of his computerized graffiti gangs.”[33] Thanks in part to Turner’s colorization, the Library of Congress established the National Film Registry with the aim to preserve American films in their original format.[34]

In 1990, he created the Turner Foundation, which focuses on philanthropic grants concerning issues pertaining to the environment and overpopulation. In the same year he created Captain Planet, an environmental superhero. Turner produced the TV series Captain Planet and the Planeteers and its later sequel series with Captain Planet as the featured character.[36]

On September 19, 2006, in a Reuters Newsmaker conference, Turner said of Iran’s nuclear position: “They’re a sovereign state. We have 28,000. Why can’t they have 10? We don’t say anything about Israel‍—‌they’ve got 100 of them approximately‍—‌or India or Pakistan or Russia.”[64]

A proponent of healthcare reform bills, Turner has said: “We’re the only first-world country that doesn’t have universal healthcare and it’s a disgrace.”[65]

In 2010, during the wake of both the devastating Deepwater Horizon environmental disaster and the Upper Big Branch Mine disaster that killed 29 miners in West Virginia, Turner stated on CNN that “I’m just wondering if God is telling us He doesn’t want to drill offshore. And right before that, we had that coal mine disaster in West Virginia where we lost 29 miners… Maybe the Lord’s tired of having the mountains of West Virginia, the tops knocked off of them so they may get more coal. I think maybe we ought to just leave the coal in the ground and go with solar and wind power and geothermals…”[66]

Turner endorsed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the run-up for the 2016 U.S. presidential election.[67] In 2018 he revealed he had once considered a run for president when he was married to Jane Fonda, who told him she’d leave him if he did.[68]

Turner claims to have predicted the demise of newspapers 30 years ago and has called print journalism an “obsolete way of distributing information”.[65] Turner also became more critical of media consolidation around 2004. He expressed some regret that he took advantage of the relaxed rules that allowed greater concentration of media ownership, and raised concerns about the quality of information and debate in an environment where the news is controlled by only a few corporations and individuals.[81]

Jane Fonda – Wikipedia

Fonda was a visible political activist in the counterculture era during the Vietnam War. She was photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun on a 1972 visit to Hanoi, during which she gained the nickname “Hanoi Jane”. During this time she was effectively blacklisted in Hollywood. She has also protested the Iraq War and violence against women, and describes herself as a feminist and environmental activist.[6] In 2005, along with Robin Morgan and Gloria Steinem, she co-founded the Women’s Media Center, an organization that works to amplify the voices of women in the media through advocacy, media and leadership training, and the creation of original content. Fonda serves on the board of the organization.

Now 52, Lulu is the biological daughter of two Black Panthers. As a child, her father was imprisoned while attempting to intervene during a police arrest. As a consequence, Lulu and her four siblings were brought up solely by their mother and Lulu describes the family environment as less than ideal as her mother descended into alcoholism and eventually became physically abusive toward her children.

Rosey Montana Opens Fire!

Posted on April 20, 2020 by Royal Rosamond Press

Rena is an Aries. All hell has broken out in Montana where she lives. Yesterday I joined the ‘Montana Liberty Rally’….and they opened fire – the women of Montana. They implied I was drunk and insane – off my meds! You know the drill….The American Woman is extremely ugly! and they don’t care, because they have bonded with ugly male Gun Grunts who pretend to be Loyal Cowboys for Jesus’.

I put a hypothetical question to the Protectors of Their Children;

“There is a scene in the movie ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ where Atticus shoots a rabid dog. What if you took your kids to the park and a drunk came at them shouting; “I got the flue and I’m going to cough in your face and give it to you!”. What would you do?”

Not being readers, these proud and ignorant women took vicious shots at me. Their Goo-goo brained male morons, joined in the shooting fest. One guy said this was the most fun he had since he was locked-up. Another dude suggested my input be a Netflix series – NOT!

I then posted on Artaud and ‘The Theatre as The Plaque’. I posted on my High Noon Art Festival in Bozeman. I the said;

“Mose cities in the world are concerned with protecting their artists, poets, writers. Didn’t Hemingway live in Montana? What is this obsession with saiving a bunch of nobodies just because they wave the American flag – and are white?”

I then posted this video that has Atticus telling his children to stay away from the mad dog he just shot dead – because it is still dangerous! It was rabid. It had a disease that can be passed on to humans. I was out of there! I go banned, unfriended, and silenced!

New York City is canceling concerts, festivals and parades, including the 2020 Pride march, through June as the city seeks to drive down its coronavirus infection rate, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday.

On Friday, De Blasio canceled nonessential events through May and a city-sponsored concert series that was scheduled start June 22. In extending the cancellations through June, de Blasio said it was a decision “we have to make.” Most of the events will be rescheduled, he said.

“That joy and that pride that all of these events bring, that celebration, will be back,” de Blasio said at a press conference, noting that the new cancellations include the 50th annual gay pride parade marking the 1969 uprising at the Stonewall Inn.

When Rena Easton said I was “Left-leaning” in her letter, I took it to mean, she (and her husband) love America more than I do. This idea is a Theme to many white people who head North, or were born there. My grandfather, Royal Rosamond, says he was born in Helena. He wrote several stories about Montana.

Royal Rosamond’s Gem Publishing

In her Proclamation Right-wing of the Aryan Rancher Flag of America, a hot cultural battle began. In 2014, I sent into battle two creative Frenchmen – foreigners! I wonder how Rena feels about a man accused of rape, suggesting women should apologize to the whole country (and Israel) ? What horrible things have THEY said about Israel? How many of  The Squad said horrible things about Israel? Evangelicals have a vested interest in seeing the Temple rebuilt – in Israel! This is why POTUS is titled ‘Messiah’ – in Israel! Is Trump defending America – or Israel? If so, is this part of his – other calling?

Friend and Foe alike have mocked me and called me insane for blogging on these issues for the last ten years. It’s like I was crossing a vast plane and alas caught up with the wagon train. I am a Psychic Trailblazer! Did I declare myself the King of Jerusalem in anticipation of the Christian-right anointing their False Political Messiah? This is the new ‘Gone With The Wind’. They found a cache of bones in the Teutonic Cemetery in Rome. I know why they are there. I will keep it a secret – for now!

I don’t believe the four Congresswomen are capable of loving our Country. They should apologize to America (and Israel) for the horrible (hateful) things they have said. They are destroying the Democrat Party, but are weak & insecure people who can never destroy our great Nation!”

Here is when I began seeing the future – that was coming to Montana. To have  literary confrontation with a five hundred pound ignorant Grunt Woman about whether I own the Right To Write, is utterly profound. Kim Haffner and her Stupid Girl Gang, wanted me out of here. Their Dude said I should be “Locked up!”

The daughter of James Joyce was “locked up” in a sanitarium because she was mentally ill. Millions of Americans suffer from mental illness. Perhaps they should all go back from where they came?

“When I received a letter from my muse, I was in big-idea-war with the author Charles L. Shields who un-friended me on facebook. Charles wrote ‘And So It Goes’ the biography of Kurt Vonnegut, my only hero. Charle’s friend, Boris Kachka, wrote an article for the New York Magazine about my ex-wife who was married to the author Thomas Pynchon. Mary Ann Tharaldsen was the sister-in-law of Christine Rosamond Benton, whose muse was my muse.”

When Rena said; “I see you are quite left-leaning.” in her letter, I turned her into an Art Piece. It was my hope to go to Bozeman and watch her dance – as Lucia Joyce. She chose instead to play the terrorized Aryan Cow Woman on the Sacred Last Hill of White Power with her Beef Rancher Husband. This felt real good to her. She tells me after forty years alas she has friends. I put Antonin Artaud and Vincent Van Gough on the train to Bozeman to attend the Art Festival. These men are – Frenchman.

Below is the response of a group of Rabbis to the Devilish  and Dangerous Dribble of a dude born in fucking Van Nuys. My Rose kin are buried in Montana!

I can not believe the canned music attached to Lucia’s video.

Collins, meanwhile, hopes that his unique profile can overcome a yawning partisan gap. Montana, while it has elected Democrat Jon Tester three times to the Senate and has a Democratic governor, is deep red in presidential years. When Collins arrived in Montana in 1994, he had spent two years and seven months navigating the United States asylum process. He’d fled Liberia’s civil war, which took two of his brothers and forced him to leave home for good. Twenty-three years later, he defeated 16-year incumbent Jim Smith to become Helena’s first black mayor — and the first black mayor in the state’s history. A Liberian refugee, elected mayor in the heart of Trump country.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court did a batch of peyote and took our democracy on a vision quest. They declared a company has a mortal soul and thus a right to protect it’s religious freedoms. Artists make logos for companies and help brand them. I pointed this out with Target, a logo that Jaspar John’s made famous that is a new age cross. In HOBBY LOBBY I see HOLY LOBBY.

“The case that led to the 1993 act was a 1990 decision by the Supreme Court that upheld Oregon’s denial of unemployment claims by two men who were fired by the Native American Church for ingesting peyote. In ruling against the men, the high court tossed out previously used balancing test in First Amendment cases involving the free exercise of religion. The 1993 was overwhelmingly bipartisan.”

On December 29, 2013, I posted this on the Facebook of Charles J. Shield who wrote ‘And so it goes’ the biography of Kurk Vonnegut, my idol. I suggested Lucia Joyce take peyote with Antonin Artaud and go on a vision quest. Lucia is transported in time and finds herself dancing at the Fillmore to the Grateful Dead – who we see in Mary Ann’s art?

“If Lucia had her way, she would go with a Dance Drama, a tale of how a classic Anglo-Saxon novel is assimilated into the Hippie Dance Music Culture. The Grateful Dead will do Finnagan’s Wake, and, here come the Lucettes! Turn down volume on India dance and leave Love song.”

For four days I debated about doing a review of Mary Ann Tharaldsen’s Art Movie, but, I was being driven. I kept going into a creative trance. I am a Seer who did not want to interfere with a fellow artist’s vision. Let my ex do her thing. Don’t glom on to her history. Let her go her own way. But, then I awoke and beheld the fresh pine wood I have leaning against my wall that appears in several of my videos. In several of these videos I discuss Charles Shields and his biography of Kurt Vonnegut ‘And So It Goes’.

I became a FB friend of Charles when I saw he was a FB friend of Mary Ann. I assumed Charles read the article Boris Kachka wrote in the New York magazine. When Charles asked who was going to author Lucia Joyce’s biography, I suggested I would, with the help of the spirit of Antonin who came to America in the 50’s and took part in the Peyote rituals. I got ridiculed, was labeled mad, and Charles unfriended me when I proved this was not a fantastic idea.

Goose Bumps

(Deirdre Mulrooney’s article appeared in The Irish Times, 6/21.)

James Joyce’s daughter Lucia was a remarkable dancer – something that has been buried in her troubled historye

Lucia Joyce, born to James Joyce and Nora Barnacle in Trieste in 1907, has captured the imagination of many writers and artists as tragic muse. Film-makers, dramatists and novelists have projected everything from Mills & Boon-style narratives where the real protagonists are famous male writers – Samuel Beckett, one of Joyce’s many boyfriends; and her father – for whom she is just a bridge, to unfounded stories of incest and child abuse, to comic-strip extravaganzas.

How did Lucia get to be such a supine, empty space? Apart from Carol Loeb Shloss’s groundbreaking and controversial 2003, biography Lucia Joyce: To Dance in the Wake, you don’t hear much about the facts of Joyce the dancer, who once declared in exasperation, “C’est moi qui est l’artiste,” or “It’s me who’s the artist.” I’m most intrigued by Lucia Joyce the artist in her own right, of whom the Paris Times remarked, in 1928: “When she reaches her full capacity for rhythmic dancing, James Joyce may yet be known as his daughter’s father.”

With her impressive avant-garde dance training, Joyce would have had a lot to contribute to the Abbey Theatre Ballets

Liberian Refugee Wilmot Collins, Mayor of Helena, Launches Bid for Montana Senate Seat

https://www.mtpr.org/post/montana-rabbis-speak-trump-tweet-daines-support

A group of rabbis in Montana sent an open letter to Republican U.S. Sen. Steve Daines this week following his recent Tweet in support of Pres. Donald Trump.

On Monday, Senator Steve Daines Tweeted, “Montanans are sick and tired of listening to anti-American, anti-Semite, radical Democrats trash our country and our ideals.”

It came following Tweets from Pres. Trump telling unnamed Democratic Congresswomen to go back and fix the places they came from.

Five people from the Montana Association of Rabbis, a coalition of Jewish leaders in the state, sent an open letter to multiple newspapers in Montana on Wednesday in response.

It says, “We do not feel safer or supported by Senator Daines’ comments, rather we fear the legitimization the president and the senator are giving to racism, xenophobia, misogyny and hatred.”

The letter denounces what the rabbis say is Daines’ alignment with recent Tweets by President Trump and a rhetoric of hate.

Student Rabbi Erik Uriarte, who serves a congregation in Billings and says he speaks only for himself, signed the letter.

He says he takes issue with Daines’ use of loaded terms like “anti-American,” especially as a Jew of Nicaraguan descent who is a U.S. citizen.

“I have been told by people who didn’t really know me, ‘go back to the country you came from.’ So, regardless of whether or not I agree or disagree with the target of Senator Daines’ Tweet, that type of language as a Jew, as a Latino, is just not acceptable or appropriate and needs to be called out,” says Uriarte.

He says he also finds Daines’ use of “anti-Semite” in this context problematic, especially when used by someone who does not identify as Jewish.

“Anybody who is a sincere ally, I welcome, but I also really hope that they come out and meet us in our communities and understand what anti-Semitism is,” he says.

Mark Kula, a post-denominational rabbi in Bozeman and Missoula, also signed off on the letter.

Kula says Trump’s original Tweets for the Congresswomen to go back where they came from brings back historical memories of what’s happened in the past to other populations and minorities in the country.

“Because once President Trump did his Tweets, to just join on board with just a few words, key phrases, to push buttons, was of concern to us, and that’s why felt we had to speak up,” says Kula.

Not all rabbis in the state reacted that way.

Chaim Bruk is an Orthodox Rabbi based in Bozeman and executive director of a Jewish outreach organization with three branches in the state. He says he’s been friends with Daines for years.

Bruk is not a member of the Montana Association of Rabbis and disagrees with the letter itself.

“I think it’s sort of insinuating that he is not a supporter or not an understander of the Jewish community or somehow he sympathizes with white supremacy or with anti-Semitism, which is ludicrous,” says Bruk.

Bruk says Daines has been vocal in his support of the Jewish community and says he feels supported by all of Montana’s officials.

Daines was one of the representatives to sign a bi-partisan letter denouncing a planned neo-Nazi march in Whitefish in 2016, along with U.S. Senator Jon Tester, Governor Steve Bullock, Montana Attorney General Tim Fox and then-U.S. Representative Ryan Zinke.

In a statement to YPR News, Daines spokesperson Julia Doyle wrote, “Steve is a strong supporter of Israel and the Jewish people. And as you saw in his recent tweet, he believes the anti-Semitic rhetoric from radical Democratic lawmakers is astounding.”

Doyle also wrote, “Steve would be happy to find a time to meet with Montana’s rabbis.”

As of Thursday afternoon, rabbis that signed the letter said they have not heard from Daines.

Beauty and The Lawsuit

I was saving this for my book, but, my tale has burst out upon the world political scene. Many foreign leaders shudder at the vision of Donald Trump being President. These sane men and women may have former Miss Universe to thank if Trump’s rise to power comes crashing back to earth!

Piggy and the Beast

From the beginning, it was my desire to make Belle Burch famous. This beauty asks about me getting sober. Alas, here is my unedited reply that I am still composing. Mishelle McMindes claimed Ken Kesey took her story and made it his own. Mishelle is from Grand Island Nebraska and posed for Playboy. Rena was from Grand Island. Add them up, the Beautiful Muses who have been captured…….one way or another:

Mishelle McMindes; Alicia Machado; Natriana Shorter, Rena Easton, Belle Burch; Christine Rosamond.

I add Daria Halprin to this list. She starred in movie about radical hippies in revolt, called ‘Zabriskie Point’. I am an original hippie, who along with my hippie friends, did not go see this movie because it is a case of Art Imitating Life.  Ken Kesey appears to be sexless. He married Faye when he was young, and, it looks like he was loyal to her. However, he did screw that Beauty from Nebraska. Daria was married to Denis Hopper, the star of Easy Rider. I’m just looking for some cool and beautiful chics to be in my movie, books, and paintings, so I can be a Pop Culture Icon – too!

John Warner just endorsed Hillary. John is in my family tree because he was married to Movie Icon, Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor.

http://popcultureaddict.com/movies-2/zabriskiepoint-htm/

The other star of Zabriskie Point was a Mel Lyman devotee, Mark Frechette, who held up a bank with another Lyman Family member after he made his movie. He had real-life interests. Mel Lyman is my kindred who created a network of MUSicians, Actors, and Artists. He is in my family tree. He married Jessie Benton, a cousin of my ex-brother-in-law, Garth Benton who acted in movies, as did his first wife, Alli McBride.

MiSchelle McMindes and Mike Hagen piled into Hagen’s Ford Mustang and drove 325 miles west from Eastern Oregon to see Ken Kesey.

Both had high hopes as they set out from Pendleton to Kesey’s farm, about 15 minutes southeast of Eugene.

McMindes was a 26-year-old go-getter from Grand Island, Neb., a brunet beauty-pageant scholarship winner recently turned private eye. She had an idea for a movie about the quintessential Oregon sporting event—the Pendleton Round-Up, a famed annual rodeo that began in 1910. McMindes had spent months researching the Round-Up’s history and collecting photographs before teaming up with Hagen, a 46-year-old television and commercial sound engineer in Pendleton.

All they needed was a screenwriter, and Hagen knew just the guy—Kesey. Hagen had been Kesey’s fraternity brother at the University of Oregon. And in the 1960s, he was one of Kesey’s Merry Pranksters as well as a co-pilot on the LSD-fueled cross-country odyssey that Tom Wolfe chronicled in The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Kesey was a natural to tell the Round-Up story. He was an Oregon literary legend and countercultural icon who knew how to spin a yarn. And he had time on his hands.

They came to him with the tall-but-true tale of how a Nez Percé Indian named Jackson Sundown, a popular black cowboy named George Fletcher (known in 1911 by a derogatory nickname), and a white Tennessee bronco-buster named Jonathan E. Lee Spain competed together during the 1911 Round-Up. A tale long familiar to Pendleton natives, it blended racial enlightenment far ahead of its time, Oregon lore and rodeo hijinks. They called the project Last Go Round.

By January 1984, McMindes and Hagen had what they thought was a deal with Kesey. And nine months later, they had a Kesey script.

Then things got messier than a loose bronco.

I never told Hollis about my bout with homelessness, because I was careful not to upstage him, put him on the other side of a fence. For helping him, he wanted to help me. He wanted me to get religion. I tried to tell him I already got religion, but, then I beheld the look on his face.

One evening he took me to Ken Kesey’s cousin’s house where he lived for a year. This cousin is a Christian and has a open house for the homeless and the hungry. We got there too late for the meal. Getting out of bed, I got and google and looked for that Cristian’s name. In minutes, I am beholding photos of a beautiful naked woman from Grand Island Nebraska who approached Ken Kesey about him authoring a screenplay about a famous cowboy. Chills came over me. Rena lived in Grand Island Nebraska. I was homeless when we met. This beautiful young woman lived with me a tent for fifty days. Her three sister’s were models. No homeless person has ever been so – blessed!

When I was homeless in 1996, I lived a month in a tent up in Blue River. At a AA meeting I shared the awful nightmare of how the vultures and parasite swooped down and started feeding on the body of my dead sister, the world famous artist, Rosamond. A woman in the group started crying. The chair asked why. She said she wanted to talk to me in private after the meeting.

My sponsor took me to her house where she proceed to tell me that people around me do these things because they want a taste of IMMORTALITY. She told me she had bought the rights to a Kesey novel, and had hired a writer to author a screenplay. Everything went wrong, because everyone wants this view of living forever to be seen through their eyes – only!

Belle Burch and other members of Sleeps have accused me of stalking my ex-muse. They accused me of Cyberstalking.  But, it is God who is authoring this Beautiful Story. Here is the proof.  I would meet the author of the Kesey script in a graveyard near the University of Oregon. He owned a three-legged dog.

 To Whom it May Concern:

I have agreed to write a screenplay about bygone rodeo greats Jackson Sundown and Nigger George Fletcher, concerning their historic confrontation at the Pendleton Round Up in 1916 [sic]. The name of the production company that I am writing for is SUNDOWN FLETCHER INC. and the people I am dealing with are Mike Hagen and MiSchelle McMindes.

The combination of Kesey’s relentless ability to self-promote and local newspapermen’s interest in a new Oregon-centric Hollywood film got Last Go Round a good bit of buzz in 1984. On Sept. 14, The Oregonian quoted Kesey as claiming that the 1985 Pendleton Round-Up might form the setting of a $10 million feature film with “cowboys, Indians and a story so good it stops the hand midway between the mouth and the popcorn box.”

Back in December, after Natriana Shorter, who is African-American, won the crown for Miss Oregon, Albert commented on a KEZI news story that, “I know this is going to sound racist and it’s not my intention. But I can’t help but think it’s awfully strange that a woman of color would represent [the] state of Oregon. The state that has one of the smallest amount of minorities of any race compared to other states. And yes, she is very beautiful.”

I met Katherine Wilson at an AA meeting held in the McKenzie Bridge Christian Church. My sponsor had come and got me at the loggers campground I was staying at. I had been homeless two months. After Micahael Dundon’s wife took him back in, the owner of this land wanted me to………move on. I had oversdtsye my welcome.

My kin was a foreman for for several of the established family owned logging companies up the McKenzie. After many close calls he wanted out of the forest. We were fixing up a old lunch wagon, when Michael went to to town to get his wife out of a bar where she was feeding her inheritence into a electronic poker machine. She threw us both out. No one telkls her what to do with her families cosmetic money. Her folks were dying all over the place and leaving each other their money they got selling lipstick. We thyught there was better things she could do in Oregon themn sit in a dark bar sucking on ciggerettes, and pushing a button over and over. Guess not!

It rained almost everyday that April. My concern was keeping my Brother world processor dry, and the two novels I had begun. There was the beggining of a biography getting soggy under the brown plastic I threw over my tent. Micahale gave me a look that said;

“There’s another big waste of time! My best ffiend sits arond pecking on a keyboard while I scrape off years of grease on my new enterprise. All I want is to fry sine eggs and turn over a  golden patch of hash brown ptotatos. This is what makes the world go round, not gambing and writing bad novels.”

Are you sure?

So, there I am at the AA meeting smelling like shit because I have not had a shower in weeks. My sponser would come by and visit me as I sat in front of Gino’s Crazy-making store in Blue River. He, his wife, and kids, were traring up the town. The model McKenzie river boat I made was sitting behind the borken window. If it was for sale it was It was another sob story. Gino’s wife was convince her husband was cheating on her, She got out a ballpen hammer, and smashed away.

My sponser is aking me if I have any good ideas on how to save Blue River. He wanted to take me to a Lion’s Club meeting. It never occured to him to invite me to his home for a cup of coffee, and let me use his shower. A wee earlier he took me to the McKenzie Bridge Store where in back was a little art gallery that needed saving.

“Do you think you can save this little home spun Art Thing. I think Art may be the asnwer to akll our problems. Arent your kindred famous artists?”

The year is 1995. My famous sister has been dead a year. The fight over her cretive legacy, is hideous beyond compare. There is talk about a book and a  movie. With both of te family artists out of the way, this should be a cakewalk. The Sane Ones know how to get it done. Artists and Gamblers are difficult, hard to get long with. I got crysty-butt. I sit at the far end of the table so my fellow alchys dont get a whiff.

“Do you think we need more fern plants in the window, Jon? “

“Well, actually I know a man who logs eugcyltpus in the Oakland Hills employung his miniature railroad he built. Hes’ thinking about relocating, We can run it thre Blue River up towards the old gold mine. You dont have to go all the ways there. You just need a Destination, and an ice cream parlor alongside the tracks. Folks will drive a hundred miles out of theor way to get their kids a ‘Little Red Cabose Cone’ made from an old loggers wives recpe broght to America from Finland.

“Sounds like sa really Big Idea to me! How about some planters and lattice work out front? Will this bring in the Art Buyers, lure them in off the highway, Jon?”

My sponser had led a revolt against my our old minister, Gary, who flipped out. He was at my graduation from Serenity Lane in 1987, alog with my childhood fried, Nancy Hamren.who gave the Kesey family her grandmothers recipe for yogurt. She wondered who Gary was, and why he speaking about God and Jesus at my big event. He was talking some real shit. One Sunday mornings Gary share this with the River Crowd;

“I hope the Russians drop an atomic bomb on San Francisco and kill all the homosexuals!”

Gary worked the old Blue Overall Boys at the White Water cafe. These grey haired relics owned the woods. There ancestors fled North as Confederate Traitors. they were officers. They got themselves some big saws. These are the Peckerwoods Mim’s talks albout that kept the niggers out of their Country. No black man ever cut down a tree in their rnecks of the woods. They hated progress – and change. They liked Michael because he was the best tree-topper around. He was their tree-climbing moneky that made then a million. I was his kin, and waskin to his wife, a Frye. The Fryes were lived in Finn Rock for five generations. The last time I was up there, I discovered I am releated to everyone who lives and works up river. We took over the Ranger Station by spreadint our gentic material all over the place. I talked to my kind who runs a Deli. I ran past hi an idea on how to bring more folks up river so ehty will buy a cornbeef and rye sandwhich from him;

“Welllllllllllllllllllllllll. To tell you the truth, we don’t want more folks coming up here and trashing the place. We just want our stuff to mysteriouskt  fly off the shelf so we dont have to move to town and get a citified job. Are yu going to buy one my my nick nacks after I wasted myt time jawing with you. How about a cut borwn bear fishing in a burchbark canoe?”

I told this yongster about our Old End Time Plan,

“We were going to fell trees acorss 126. When we went to town we made sure we got pleanty of dented can food at that store with the sloppy rainbow. I forgot the name.”

Then we started doing cocaine and drinking too much. Our workd came crashing down around us. Our children were thrown into a dysfntional whirpool. There was wife-swapping going on. We thiught we were cool. Everyone wanted more white powder that coud only be gotten in the city. We never thiyught about gorwing cociane trees and getting some big iron pots to cook it in. We’ed have to get a rocket launcher to shoot DEA helicipter out of the sky.

So, who the fucks  Katherine Willson and why s she balling her eyes out as I share my twisted convoluted tale about the legal family fued over a shitload of Rosamond prints that no one could sell, while christine was alive, but, now that she was dead our sibkling – who knew nothing about art – were convicnced they would sell like hotcakes. They had pused the adult heir and her uncle to the side in a very brutal manner, and had cone to bievled they had a forest of old growth redwood that would make them wealthy beyond belief. We are talking about a Real Windfall! They ase not in Rosamond’s Will.

“Kesey abandoned prose as ‘archaic’ and set off to make The Movie,” says Mark Christensen, a Los Angeles writer and former WW staffer who’s completing a study of Kesey, Timothy Leary and other ’60s narcotics gurus titled Acid Christ for Schaffner Press. “He bought into the dream, which is the old cliché of Hollywood: What I really want to do is direct. In other words, he wanted into the movie business! This was in the wave of all that French New Wave shit, where people literally believed the novel was dead, and cinema was going to be the new medium. And Kesey bought that dream.”

Katherine Wilson, Oregon filmmaker

October 10th, 2012 by Anne Richardson · 1 Comment · Oregon filmmaker, Oregon producer,Oregon writer

Katherine Wilson stepped into the role of writer-producer with Animal House Of Blues (2012)  after a lifetime working in location casting and location scouting.

When John Landis needed local college girls for the pillow fight in Animal House, it was Katherine who auditioned them. When Milos Forman came to Oregon State Hospital to shoot One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, it was Katherine who served as the liaison between that production and the Oregon Film Commission. Having seen for herself what Oregon had to offer Hollywood, and vice versa, she spent her entire career encouraging her home state to develop the economic potential of its film industry.

She worked on Stand By Me, The High Cost Of Living and Personal Best, among others. Without leaving home, she worked with Michael Douglas, Milos Forman, Rob Reiner, Robert Towne, John Belushi, and Jack Nicolson.

Her first film as writer-producer, Animal House of Blues, uses interviews and archival photos to tell the story of how Curtis Salgado, a young Eugene blues singer, taught visiting actor John Belushi how to sing the blues. Belushi paid close attention and later used  Salgado’s trademark sunglasses-fedora-harmonica combination to create The Blues Brothers with Dan Ackroyd. As a friend of both Salgado and Belushi, Katherine Wilson was witness to the entire, slightly Faustian, saga.

Here you can see Katherine Wilson preparing extras for the parade scene finale in Animal House, the film which launched her career.

Here’s Katherine in Deafula, a lost Oregon movie I am dying to see. Katherine acted in Deafula and did the make up and art direction.

Here she is with Ken Kesey, who taught her to splice videos using scotch tape, a lesson she definitely wouldn’t have learned in film school.

Along with launching Animal House Of Blues, Katherine Wilson is also in pre-production for a feature length narrative film about the legendary Nez Perce rodeo champion, Jackson Sundown. She is the fifth Oregon Movies, A to Zfilm figure to come from Klamath Falls, joining an illustrious list which includes James Ivory, Marc Davis, William Kittridge and Chris Eyre, pictured with her below.
