Goel (Hebrew: גואל, romanized: goʾel, lit. ‘redeemer’), in the Hebrew Bible and rabbinic Judaism, is a person who, as the nearest relative of someone, is charged with the duty of restoring that person’s rights and avenging wrongs done to him or her. One duty of the goel was to redeem (purchase back) a relative who had been sold into slavery. Another was to avenge the death of a relative who had been wrongly killed; one carrying out this vengeance was known as the goel hadam, commonly translated to English as “avenger of blood.”[1]
The term goel is also used for other forms of redemption. In the Book of Isaiah, God is called the redeemer of Israel,[2] as God redeems his people from captivity; the context shows that the redemption also involves moving on to something greater.
Duties of the goel

The obligations of the goel include the duty to redeem the relative from slavery if the latter had been obliged to sell himself into slavery (Leviticus 25:48–49); to repurchase the property of a relative who had had to sell it because of poverty; to avenge the blood of his relative; to marry his brother’s widow to have a son for his brother, in the case that the brother had no son to pass on his name (Deuteronomy 25:5–6); and to receive the restitution if the injured relative had died (Numbers 5:8).
Numbers 35:9–30 regulates the duties of the goel hadam. The congregation must judge the case before it puts a murderer in the hands of a goel. More than one witness is needed for conviction. In case of accidental manslaughter, the slayer can save his life by fleeing to a city of refuge and staying there until the death of the High Priest of Israel. Ransom is not accepted for murder. Revenge cannot be taken on the offender’s children or parents (Deuteronomy 24:16).
Leviticus 25:48–49 gives the order in which the nearest relative is considered the goel in the case of redeeming a slave: brother, uncle, male cousin and then other relatives. The same order was probably observed in the other cases, except in marrying a sister-in-law.
The blood-avenger in rabbinic tradition
Jewish tradition has also attributed the blood avenger role in modern times to a prosecuting attorney, who pleads on behalf of the victim in the case against the criminal. Thus, he is responsible for bringing the offender to court, finding evidence against him, presenting the case, and collecting damages from the offender. His task is also to argue against any attempts to pardon the sinner. It is presumed that the court would be the party who would avenge the wrongful death via the imposition of the death penalty,[3] though Deuteronomy 13:9 suggests that the witness to an offence and afterward the whole of the people would carry out the penalty of death by stoning.[4]

The Friday email, which was signed off by OADI Director William “Woodg” Horning, Dade and the entire OADI team, describes that the “very exciting” name change followed “think[ing] strategically about who we are and how all students see us across campus.”
The new name “aligns with the OADI mission and vision and the key goals of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education 一 curiosity and connection,” according to the email obtained by The Sun.
The office wanted to maintain the “signature moniker of ‘OADI’” due to its Arabic and Swahili meaning, according to the email. OADI’s website states that the word “refers to a cool protected passage route/valley through a desert, often formed by a seasonal river.”
The new name highlights OADI’s centering of “‘discovery’ for scholars as they approach and proceed through their academic journey” and the “‘impact’” each scholar brings to campus, according to the email.
According to its website, OADI works to ensure all students have equal access to educational and pre-professional programs and resources by offering academic support, scholarships, mentorship and community events. OADI’s origin spans back to 1963, through the historic Committee on Special Education Projects, which has been renamed and reorganized several times since.
“The new OADI emerged as a way for students to see themselves in our space be they first generation, low income, foster youth, Veterans, non-traditional, transfer, students from diverse backgrounds and/or any other student that finds space in our community,” the email reads.
In March, the University temporarily removed its diversity, equity and inclusion references and discrimination resources from its Equal Education and Employment Opportunity Statement. However, the University quickly adjusted the statement back to its near-original condition and explained the original revision as a “clerical error.”

Dr. Orosco joined the OSU Faculty in fall 2001. He received his Ph.D and M.A in Philosophy from the University of California, Riverside, and his B.A in philosophy from Reed College in Portland, Oregon. His primary area of interest is in social and political philosophy, particularly democratic theory and global justice. He teaches classes in American Philosophy and Latino/a and Latin American thought, with an emphasis on Mexican culture, history, and immigration to the United States.
Orosco is director of the Peace Studies program and teaches about issues of peace and nonviolence. Students can receive a Peace Studies certificate through the program.
Orosco has written on the political theory of various figures, including Josiah Royce, Jane Addams, Martin Luther King, Jr, and Cesar Chavez. In 2008, his first book, “Cesar Chavez and the Common Sense of Nonviolence,” was published by University of New Mexico Press.
He serves as a faculty advisor to MEChA and the and is a founding member of the OSU Faculty and Staff for Peace and Justice. I learned from sister, Vicki Presco, that the father of our niece, Drew Benton, passed away five days ago. Garth Benton married Christine Rosemond Presco in 1986. Garth was married to the actress, Harlee McBride, before that, and had two daughters, Jessica, and Bree.I was glad to hear that Drew was there for her father when he passed, with the help of Vicki. This is the family unity that I hoped for when I visited Vicki in June so we can go foreword. We have spent too much time at the stern of the ship looking at the destructive flotsam in our wake. We have been moving to the bow of the ship in order behold a brighter future.
For those who have inherited at least one of the Muses, let us continue to look to our creations, our beautiful children, and the loving bonds we made, for inspiration.

The murals on the J. Paul Getty Museum’s garden walls have been seen by millions of visitors since the Malibu institution opened 20 years ago. But who knew that the artist who painted–and is now restoring–the realistic likenesses of columns, garlands and still-life arrangements is Garth Benton, a third cousin of Thomas Hart Benton? The 53-year-old artist never met his famous relative, an American regionalist painter who rejected modern abstraction and championed a muscular style of realism until his death in 1975. But the younger Benton was turned on to art at the age of 8 when he saw a book of his relative’s paintings, and he occasionally corresponded with the late artist, who spent much of his life in his home state of Missouri.
Fine art connoisseurs insist that Garth Benton creates the kind of exquisite murals that “should be admired and treasured.” Insiders say Benton’s “never-ending” skills are made manifest by the diversity of his commissions, which are inspired by everything from first-century Roman frescoes to eighteenth-century Chinese wallpaper to Art Deco and Modern designs.
Benton, who has been described as one of the top five muralists in the world, truly executes museum-quality pieces. He has worked on such notable projects as the 1,000-foot mural in the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu, and been published in fine art books. Benton studied art at UCLA and Art Center College of Design after being inspired by the work of his cousin, the late Thomas Hart Benton, a teacher of Jackson Pollock and a well-known artist in his own right.

Poor Baby Bree is really Bree Benton, 35 and a newcomer to cabaret. But her arresting characterization—unbroken for the length of her show—is worthy of a small theater. She drifts into view, worldly goods slung over her shoulder, and then, through vintage recitations and songs of woe, she recalls every defeated wretch who traipsed through early-20th-century America, looking for home and hanging on by a thread. Opening her bag, she pulls out her “babies”—antique dolls to whom she sings. Is she insane or just lonesome? Benton draws her laments from tattered sheet music and acoustic 78s; her voice is the frail warble heard on those tinny recordings, her face the portrait of despair immortalized by Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish and other silent-era waifs. Learning of Benton’s incongruous family connection—she’s the stepdaughter of Richard Belzer, the cranky, politically minded comic actor—makes you all the more curious: What led her to adopt this antique persona? So hauntingly does she inhabit it that you may conclude that Bree Benton is not of this time, nor even this world.
Producers of the abandoned revival of Funny Girl struggled to find a new Fanny Brice, someone with the requisite comedic chops and rafter-shaking voice who could shake the ghost of Streisand. They might have done well to consider Bree Benton, who, in the persona of Poor Baby Bree, evokes the comic pathos of Brice and her contemporaries while putting her own indelible stamp on vaudeville revisited. Since 2005, Benton has been performing in one-person shows as Poor Baby Bree, with musical director Franklin Bruno at piano—championing lost vaudeville songs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Baby Bree, a street-smart waif with stars in her eyes and “not a plug nickel” to her name, provides Benton with the ideal vehicle for her repertoire of vintage comic songs, ballads, and patter. In Benton’s skillful hands, tough-talkin’, sweet-singin’ Baby Bree is part Bette Davis, part Fanny Brice, part Judy Garland with a sprinkling of Olive Oyl—a sassy comedian one minute, a heart-breaking balladeer the next. Baby Bree’s latest adventure, “I Am Going to Run Away,” is now playing at La MaMa through April 29. In this outing, Baby Bree runs away from home to join the circus—only to find herself lost in the big city, with only her dolls for company. This provides the frame for such forgotten standards as the rousing “Oh! You Circus Day” from 1912—a lively celebration of big-top glamour—to the poignant “Laugh! Clown! Laugh!, ”a 1928 ditty about the tragic life of a circus clown. For the most part, Benton breezily walks the tightrope between funny and sad, as epitomized in her charming interpretation of the 1932 novelty song “The Angel Cake Lady (And the Ginger Bread Man),” replete with a dancing marionette, gingerbread man, and larger-than-life doughnut. In some places, however, she is still finding her comedic feet. Not all the jokes land, particularly in the awkward first 10 minutes. (A crack about a wild bear eating sauerkraut crashed with a thud). Under Bruno’s musical direction, the band provides lively accompaniment, driving the momentum while providing rich period sound. Consulting director David Schweizer has built a solid framework—though sometimes the transitions drag—particularly the long, unnecessarily complicated and literal shift from the “woods” to the city. (The action stops to a halt as two stagehands dismantle trees and put up a garbage pail and crates). Still, this is charming evening—a celebration of old songs whose cleverness and emotional truth still resonate—and a showcase for prodigious performer. Frederick Joseph Benton, born 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the hereditary son of Petronella of Naples, and Frederick Joseph Benton I, he has lived in Europe and the United States. His grandparents were required to renounce all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign king, prince, potentate or sovereignty, as a condition to acquire United States citizenship in 1920 when the family tree was sealed, and has subsequently not made a claim of succession to the thrones of Europe. His lifelong interest in extra sensory perception was the topic of conversation with the Dutches of Bedford, on Monti Carlo television and on several public appearances throughout the years. He appeared on popular television programs in the United States and England during the nineteen seventies.
A marriage to the Principessa Lorena di Torremuzza from 1975 till 1982 was later dissolved. Two days ago I gave Ivanna Drew Benton’s birthday so she can make a death certificate. I just found out I got it wrong after looking at my nieces Facebook that does not list any family members. Drew had no children. Did she run out of reasons for living?
If I had not discovered Raif took his life, I would not have delved deeper and discovered Christine and Garth’s daughter had taken her life, too If this discovery was not made, then Drew’s body would have remained on……THE BURN PILE! She would have been cremated all alone, without family knowing. A society would come and spread her ashes. They would not see a birthday. How close does this come to having never existed? In my ceremony I honor Drew’s wish to no longer exist.
Drew was born September 25, 1984. The passage “I have taken you out of the sheepcote.” came to mind. I discovered John the Baptist ate wasps and ants that found a home in the Acacia tree. First he would eat the wasp that burrowed into the bulb, and when the ants moved in, he came again, and ate them. He must have been very thin, and, he owned nothing. This is my answer to a great riddle about what John ate that I found in the empty space Drew left behind. Every death contains these spaces. On August 20th. Michael Dundon and I had a long text chat on facebook, then got on the phone for another two hours of recalling and reminiscing. We talked about Blue River, compared notes, and refreshed our memory. In doing research this morning I found out a logging company came to Finn Rock from Arkansas and thus this community was called Arkyville. More on this later. Did John the Baptist Eat Bugs, Beans, or Pancakes?

According to our earliest source the one known as “John the Baptist,” (literally “John the Dipper”) followed a strict ascetic lifestyle reflected most prominently in his austere dress and diet:
Now John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey (Mark 1:6; cf. Matthew 3:4).
We also read in a earlier source now embedded in Luke and Matthew, that John, in contrast to Jesus, came “neither eating nor drinking,” or “neither eating bread nor drinking wine.” Such phrases indicate the lifestyle of one who is strictly vegetarian, avoids even bread since it has to be processed from grain, and shuns all alcohol (Luke 7:33-34; Matthew 11:18-19).
The contemporary Jewish historian Josephus recounts the execution of John the Baptist at the desert fortress of Macherus by Herod Antipas in his work Jewish Antiquities, see the passage here. [1] According to Josephus, Herod’s main motivation was John’s great popularity with the crowds and the possibility that he could lead an insurrection. Mark gives an alternative account, namely that Herod had John beheaded at his birthday celebration, reluctantly, at the urging of his wife Herodias, following the famously provocative dance of her daughter Salome. Herodias was upset that John was openly condemning her marriage to Antipas as adulterous, since she had been originally married to his brother Philip (Mark 6:16-29).
Josephus describes him as “a good man who commanded the Jews to exercise virtue,” but does not specifically comment on his lifestyle in the Greek version of the Antiquities that is our standard text. There is an Old Russian version of Josephus’s Antiquities, usually referred to as “Slavonic Josephus,” that describes John the Baptizer as living on “roots and fruits of the tree” and insists that he never touched bread, not even the unleavened bread nor the flesh of a lamb, at Passover. [2]
The most commonly held view of John’s diet, based on our text in Mark, is that he ate locusts, a migratory form of the grasshopper of the family Acrididae, still commonly consumed by desert peoples in Arabia. Others have suggested the word translated “locusts” refers to the beans of the carob tree, commonly called “St. John’s bread.” However, the Greek word translated “locusts,” (akris/ακρις) seems to clearly refer to a species of grasshopper. The problem is such eating of “flesh,” even if that of an insect, seems to contradict the sources that emphasize his ascetic vegetarian ideal. Paul, for example, refers to members of the Jesus movement who abstain from eating meat and drinking wine (Roman 14:1-4). We also have traditions that James, the brother of Jesus, practiced a strictly vegetarian lifestyle, which was also common among the Jewish Christian community that became known as the “Ebionites,” see my post here. Somehow “locusts” seem out of place.
A possible solution to this confusion about John’s desert diet is found in the fragments we have of the lost “Gospel of the Ebionites,” as quoted by the 4th-century Christian writer Epiphanius (Panarion 30.13.4-5), who hated the group but fortunately, nonetheless, can’t resist quoting them–thus preserving some precious material. The Greek word for locusts (akris/ἀκρίδες) is very similar to the Greek word for “honey cake” (enkris/έγκρίς) that is used for the “manna” that the Israelites ate in the desert in the days of Moses. According to this ancient text was not locusts but these cakes cooked in olive oil. If this is the case then John would have eaten a cake of some type, made from a desert plant, similar to the “manna” that the ancient Israelites ate in the desert in the days of Moses. This “bread from heaven” is described as “like coriander seed, white, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey” (Exodus 16:31; Numbers 11:8). This kind of “pancake” baked in oil, and sweetened with honey, would then reflect and emulate the ideal holiness of the desert wanderings of Israel when the people had to look to God alone for “daily bread.”

Goel (Hebrew: גואל, romanized: goʾel}redeemer), in the Hebrew Bible and rabbinic Judaism, is a person who, as the nearest relative of someone, is charged with the duty of restoring that person’s rights and avenging wrongs done to him or her. One duty of the goel was to redeem (purchase back) a relative who had been sold into slavery. Another was to avenge the death of a relative who had been wrongly killed; one carrying out this vengeance was known as the goel hadam, commonly translated to English as “avenger of blood.”[1]
The obligations of the goel include the duty to redeem the relative from slavery if the latter had been obliged to sell himself into slavery (Leviticus 25:48–49); to repurchase the property of a relative who had had to sell it because of poverty; to avenge the blood of his relative; to marry his brother’s widow to have a son for his brother, in the case that the brother had no son to pass on his name (Deuteronomy 25:5–6); and to receive the restitution if the injured relative had died (Numbers 5:8).
Jewish tradition has also attributed the blood avenger role in modern times to a prosecuting attorney, who pleads on behalf of the victim in the case against the criminal. Thus, he is responsible for bringing the offender to court, finding evidence against him, presenting the case, and collecting damages from the offender. His task is also to argue against any attempts to pardon the sinner. It is presumed that the court would be the party who would avenge the wrongful death via the imposition of the death penalty,[3] though Deuteronomy 13:9 suggests that the witness to an offence and afterward the whole of the people would carry out the penalty of death by stoning.[4]

A huge dragon banner unfolds, declaring war. People panic: men sharpen hatchets; shops are shuttered. Wong Low Get is summoned from Sacramento to take revenge for Hop’s death. He is stunned when the council president, Nog Hong Fah, tells him that Sun Yat Ming, his friend since childhood, is the guilty party. Sun is surprised and pleased to see Wong. He has prepared for his own assassination: His will leaves everything to his old friend. He also asks Wong to raise his little daughter, Toya San, and marry her when she comes of age. Wong agrees—and then reveals that he is the Lem Sing Tong hatchet man. Wong swears before the Buddha that Toya will never know “the song of sorrow.” Sun calmly kneels and prays and forgives Wong’s “innocent hand its stroke of justice.”
Chinatown “today”.. “a far cry from what we have just seen. Gone are the warring Tongs—Gone are the queues and chop-sticks.” Wong, a prominent businessman, is wealthy and happy. Nog detests change, especially the way that women are being spoiled “by intelligence and freedom”. It is Toya’s birthday; it should be the day of her betrothal. Nog is appalled to learn that Wong will defy tradition and give her a choice.
Wong offers Toya his mother’s ring and declares his love. He is overjoyed when she replies “My father’s wish is also mine.” He kneels before the statue of Buddha, affirming his promise to bring her only happiness.
On the day of the wedding, the Bing Foo, an outlaw Tong based in Sacramento, declares war. Wong fears a nationwide conflict and the transformation of Tongs into gangsters. Nog hires bodyguards, and the handsome young gangster, Harry En Hai (Leslie Fenton) is assigned to Wong. Toya is a modern girl with a good education, and at first she gives Harry the brush off.
Wong and Toya are happy together, but threats and blackmail from Sacramento continue. Wong’s devoted clerk, Chung Ho, is killed, and Wong goes to Sacramento to meet with the Bing Foo. Only Big Jim Malone, the white gangster who started the war, refuses to cooperate. Wong eliminates him, and the war ends.
Meanwhile, Harry has seduced Toya. When Wong returns, he finds them embracing passionately. She steps between Harry and Wong, and recalls his promise to make her happy, always. Wong gives Toya and her happiness to Harry, making him swear, warning that if he breaks faith Buddha will find him. Because of this “unworthy act”, Wong is stricken from the Tong’s records everywhere. Shunned, he falls into poverty.
At last, Wong hears from Toya in a note, “written from a living death” in China, to tell him she loves only him. The government caught Harry selling opium, and deported both of them. Wong redeems his hatchets from pawn and heads across the Pacific to China, working as a stoker.
Toya is prisoner in an opium den/brothel, sold to Madame Si-Si by Harry. Harry sees Wong, but thinks he is a drug-induced hallucination. Toya faints when she sees him, but Wong has only love for her. He confronts Madame Si-Si and demands his wife, by ancient Chinese law and on the honor of a hatchet man. Madame SiSi scoffs; he proves it by hitting the eye of a dragon in a wall painting. Toya and Wong leave. He promises to return for Harry. On the other side of the partition, Madame Si Si shrieks at an unresponsive Harry while her servant removes the hatchet from the partition—and from Harry’s skull. Harry’s body falls, Cut to the statue of Buddha; Wong repeats his warning to Harry. “The great Lord Buddha will find you no matter where you are on the face of the Earth”.
I should have received a copy of Drew Taylor Rosamond Benton’s Death Certificate – TWO WEEKS AGO! When I talked to officer Holstrom she knew Drew had been in a cold icebox FOR 23 DAYS! Is this – the norm? What is the average time it takes to SPEED the dead to yon hither side?
Holstrom knew Drew’s relatives could not be found. Why would she say “Why do you want a report?” Is she suggesting there might be a delay, if I want the report BEFORE I PAY? Did she know there was a problem, and thus I best whip out one of my credit cards, PAY, and walk away? Let the Bosley Boys do what they will.
I became a member of the Oddfellows a year ago. This is what I DO NOT want to know……
Was Drew Benton tortured and crucified with a blunt and sharp instrument, then thrown over a three story balcony? She survived the impact that broke her pelvis, and was crawling on the ground when fellow tenants saw her. She was talking. Did she say she was thrown over the railing, and name anybody? Did this person say she tried to kill herself? Did she tell the rescue people in the ambulance someone tried to murder her? Did they wonder if she was on a drug that drove her crazy? Did they strap her down in a padded room because she is screaming? Did they hook her up to any monitors? Was she in handcuffs? Did she die of a heart attack, and is found ten minutes later when the screaming stops?
I am just WONDERING! I have a right to WONDER! I have an obligation – TO WONDER! Did anyone know she jumped and severely broke her pelvis? Did the rescue people pick her up – and she is screaming in pain? Is she swinging at them telling them to – STOP? Do the police – put her in handcuffs. Is she strapped down which causes more pain – that causes her to have a heart attack at 38 years of age? Cardiac Arrest can be caused by very rapid heart rate. When was it discovered my niece had a broken pelvis – at her autopsy? When did the idea she took her life – come up?
Under the circumstances Holstrom should have given me getting this report – TOP PRIORITY! Why didn’t the Bullhead Police Department give this Death Report – TOP PRIORITY? Do you think this is a good question? I mean, most people don’t want to get involved in anything controversial. Right? They tend to walk away, or turn their backs. My niece Shannon Rosamond Benton – DID NOT – respond to my Facebook messages informing her half-sister was dead! WHY? Would you like to know?
On September 25, 2025, at Noon, I left a message for Noah, who is a reporter for KEZI News in Eugene. On 8-12-24 Noah said he would call officer Holstrom and get her to talk to me.

EXTRA! I just sent this message. I wondered why officer Holstrom did not look in Drew’s phone and computier for her relatives. Maybe some did repond, and got a cold reception. Holstrom had to know Drew died of Cardiac arrest. I believe she told me she took her life. I have notes all over the place.
Forty-three days ago, Noah, a reporter for KEZI. said he would call the Bullhead City police and get the officer who handled the death of my niece to call me. She is kin to Senator Thomas Hart Benton. This was forty-three days ago. Several days later I request a police report that I have not received. I got Drew Benton’s ashes with a death certificate that says she died of “Multiple blunt and sharp force injuries”. Her autopsy says she died of cardiac arrest in the hospital at thirty-eight years of age at midnight. The certificate says she died at 10:P/M. two hours earlier of an attempted suicide. Later, Cynthia McCarthy said my posts were removed to be judged if they ARE SPAM, and would be put back up – if they pass the litmus test. I wondered if the unknown moderators – were racists – and had rifled through my blog to see WHAT KIND OF MAN I AM. Last night before I went to bed, the news was talking about the controversy surrounding Kamala Harris. Thar controversy began in my posts. made over three years ago.
When someone is buried they are put below ground. In trying to ascertain when the Jankes were dug out of their grave beneath the Bay tree, I found a citation saying the DAR did a survey in 1937 of grave markers. Doris Vannier says the Jankes were dug up in the middle of the night, but, does not say what year. Cynthia McCarthy had to know about this DIGGING UP – and was hiding it from me. This is why she ABUSED ME on Facebook. Everyone has the right – TO HONNOR THEIR DEAD!
Above is a photo of a young man who had come across headstones on the beach. He is reading the name and the date – with natural reverence – even though he is not related to the deceased. The grave marker we see in the Union Cemetery was not made in 1937. I demand the City of Belmont hire a private investigator to SEARCH for the lost Janke tombstone. This is extremely upsetting to me. The idea of Eternal Rest has been shattered – for me!

Yesterday I received information from Shirley Schwoerer of the Redwood City Library, that said my ancestor, Carl August Janke, was instrumental in establishing a Turnverien in Belmont, and the Bay Area. Was it the first?

Janke may be the first real estate developer in the San Francisco bay area.
I had a psychic hit that there was trouble coming. Add to this posts on facebook I read where Trump supporters declared they will fight to the death, one did not need to be – that much of a Seer! Why then didn’t any of our spendy Intelligence agencies SEE what was coming? How about foreign spies? Do Russia and Israel keep a close score which way the wind is blowing in our Un-United States? How about black leaders and journalists? Did they sound a warning – that went unheeded. AFTA was being blamed – before hand! Did the FBI get fooled by this right-wing smokescreen? I don’t like the Capitol Insurrection Hearing, so far, because THE MAIN TARGET of these white militias – is black people.
February is Black History Month. In July of last year I founded the Black Turners and the Marin Shipmates, a all Black Navy. I posted this video of the Chilean army doing the goosestep – on a Black Panther group! I was banned. I formed the New Army of the Potomac, so there will forever be s standing force of Black Soldiers prepared for the next attack of neo-Confederate Racists – who will never give up! Never!
What I suggest is the formation of a First Patriot Alert System where eight Congressman are linked to a special message system on their phones and computers. There will be four Republicans, and four Democrats. If four of the eight see a dire emergency, they will sound the alarm, that will launch the New Army of the Potomac into action. And, here they come, marching down Pennsylvania Avenue with United Nations armored vehicles – because the United Nations should play a role in safeguarding our elections that are being conducted along racial, and radical religious, lines. The American Taliban – is real! They present an ever increasing threat to Black People – they target! Let their worse nightmare – come true! We are dealing with dangerous mentally ill paranoids.
I am for Washington D.C. becoming a State, and, Sovereign Democratic Nation that will represent all the Democracies of the World…..The United Democratic Nations. UDN. William Stuttmeister married Augustus Janke at Ralston Hall. His father sailed from Germany to New York, and then Chile, where the Forty-Eighters had made a colony. They are Prussians. Is this why the Chilean Government adopted the Prussian style parade.
Two nights ago, I saw black tombstones stuck in the mud along a river fifty miles from our Capitol. A black cemetery was closed, and the markers with names were used to shore up the river. The desecration of graves and statures has to stop. The TEARING DOWN stage – is over! I am going to apply for a grant so that I can hire other researchers into the role the Turners and Forty-Eigters played in freeing the slaves. I suspect the Turner history of Belmont was deliberately erased during World War One when there was ant-German sentiment. The Jessie Benton Scouts waged a covert war with the Emperor of Mexico and France. Drew Benton is kin to Emperor Napoleon the third.
The children in the tree at Belmont Park may be the cherished offspring of the Oddfellow’s. Eight thousand came to Belmont on the train, and, by ship.

I suspect the Janke-Stuttmeister family waa targeted – along with the Oddfellows – when our graves were dug open, and our bodies evicted from our graves. The Oddfellows had a special bond and vow they made with their dead. We never recovered – till now! In Berlin the Stuttmeisters were very wealthy merchants and owned much property. They gave it all up. There had to be a reason. I believe they were leaders of the Turnverein Forty-Eighters, many who became military leaders for the Union, and personal bodyguards to Jessie and John Fremont, a co-founder of the Abolitionist Republican Party.
Alice Stuttmeister is the woman at the base of the tree, to the right of the portly gentleman, who may be Carl Janke, her grandfather. She married William Broderick, who is seated next to her. This was taken in the Oakland Hills.
Democratic fury over the mob attack on the Capitol and its aftermath is spilling into nearly every aspect of life in the House, squashing hopes for comity and threatening even mundane legislative tasks like the naming of a local post office.

Sund, who had raised the idea of calling on the National Guard for backup days earlier, specifically recounted a 1:09 p.m. phone call he made to the then-sergeant-at-arms of the House, Paul Irving, his superior, requesting National Guard troops.
Sund said he was told they would run it up the chain of command .
Irving said he has no recollection of the conversation at that time and instead recalls a conversation nearly 20 minutes later. He said the 1:09 p.m. call does not show up on his cellphone log.
Intelligence warnings of an armed uprising by extremist groups heading to the Capitol didn’t rise to the level of alarm — or even get passed up the chain of command — in time for the Jan. 6 attack.
Crucially, a key warning flare from the FBI field office in Norfolk, Virginia, of a “war” on the Capitol was sent the night before to the Capitol Police’s intelligence division. But then-Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund testified that he only learned about it the day before Tuesday’s hearing.
Instead, Sund said he was bracing for demonstrations on par with other armed protests by mobs of Trump’s supporters in the nation’s capital in November and December after the presidential election.
Four years ago, Virginia State Senator Richard Stuart and his wife Lisa were exploring their new farm on the Potomac River when they saw something in the water that brought tears to her eyes and made him feel ill.
“Lisa and I looked at each other, and both of us said, is that a headstone? Then we looked, and we saw another and another and another,” the lawmaker told CBS News’ Chip Reid.

A popular Union commander and native German, Major GeneralFranz Sigel was the highest ranking German-American officer in the Union Army, with many Germans enlisting to “fight mit Sigel.” Sigel was a political appointment of President Abraham Lincoln, who hoped that Sigel’s immense popularity would help deliver the votes of the increasingly important German segment of the population[citation needed]. He was a member of the Forty-Eighters, a political movement of the revolutions in German states that led to thousands of Germans emigrating to the United States. These included such future Civil War officers as Maj. Gen. Carl Schurz, Brig. Gen. August Willich, Louis Blenker, Max Weber and Alexander Schimmelfennig.
Yesterday I discovered one of my great grandfathers founded a Turnverein Hall on Bush Street in San Francisco. This hall was a place one could go hear music and practice gymnastics. The Seamens Friendly Union met here, and the Vigilance Committee. Plays were performed, and debates held. This is the radical root of San Francisco that I have traced to the Longshoreman’s Hall and the first Acid Tests. The Turner hall offered music and other entertainment as an alternative to gambling and prostitution. My father was a Merchant Marine and would be pleased to know the first institution for furthering sailor rights met in the Bush hall.

Israel was founded by Socialists who got a foothold in Palestine via the Maccabi Sports Clubs that sprang from the German Turnverein, or, Turn Verein, Turner Societies, founded by Freiderich Jahn a Prussian, who is considered by some to be the Father of National-Socialisms, or, the Nazis. I suspect my kin, Carl Janke, was a Turnverein and established a Turner Society in Belmont that later merged with the Oddfellows. William Ralston, whose home was in Belmont, provided the funds to spread the Oddfellows throughout Europe, beginning in Germany, where Jews and Gentiles met in Turnverien clubs, worked out together, talked business, and promoted the idea that their children should marry. Then the Germans wanted the Jews out, and they formed their own Turnverein clubs that became the Maccabi gymnasts who began to colonize Palastine.
After world war one there was a prejudice against Germans, and Turnverein was changed to Tanforan, the alleged kin of a Mexican Spaniard.

“In 1849 the family came around the Horn on an old Clipper ship, and Mr. Janke brought with him on the trip the material for six portable houses. He set up these houses, and at once engaged in a successful business, as a building contractor.”
This information confirms my theory that the Tanforan cottages in the Mission, are the Turnverein cottages that Janke brought around the Cape in order to establish a German community of Freethinkers in the New Western Land of the Free -free of church rule! The Jüdischen Turnverein was established for the same reason. For awhile Jews and Germans shared the same Turnverien in Berlin, and were seen as Liberal-Socialists. San Francisco is considered the most Liberal and ethnically diverse city in the world where folks from the old world can practice their traditions of total freedom. Hitler banned and persecuted the Freethinkers, and outlawed the Turnverein.
The membership of the new clubs was more inclusive, as the cor of students and academics which had made up the rank and file of the Turnverein in its early years was joined by a large contingent of craft workers, along with many Jewish members, often in positions of leadership. These gymnastic clubs were often closely aligned with workers’ organizations and democratic clubs with whom they shared a desire for reform and a rejection of traditional hierarchies.
They even imparted a new spirit to their gymnastic program by initiating training sessions for children and, far more radical in light of the times, for women as well. Flaunting their rebellious spirit, the gymnasts of Vormärz wore their hair long and sported large black hats decorated with a rooster feather instead of the more formal attire of the Biedermeier period.
Given the radicalization of the movement in the 1840s, it is not surprising that the German gymnasts were directly involved in the 1848 revolutions. Turnverein leaders won renown for their leading roles in local uprisings,
The Turnverein as an organization was most closely associated with the uprisings in Baden, the center of the radical sentiment in southwest Germany
The Fremont family spent much time in Europe. I believe Elizabeth Fremont burned the reason why. John and Jessie had a bodyguard made up of foreigners. They feared a foreign invasion, and Lincoln was aware of this;
“President knew we were on the eve of England, France and Spain recognizing the South: they were anxious for a pretext to do so; England on account of her cotton interests, and France because the Emperor dislikes us.”
Above is a photo of Germans reenacting Civil War battles. This is because 200,000 Germans fought in this bloody war. Many of them were Turners. My Prussian and German ancestors were Turners in the Bay Area and had to know what role they would play before my kindred in South Carolina went to war with the Union.
I suspect Carl Janke was part of an effort to make California a colony of the German Unification, if not the Liberal Prussian Capital of a revolt that was taking place throughout Europe led by the Forty-Eighters who made up the Radical Republicans, who nominated John Fremont as their first candidate for office of President of the United States. Lincoln could not have become President without the Germans who must have backed the Fourteenth Amendment so their children could be recognized Citizens of the U.S.A.
In Sunshine magazine, Jessie Fremont says Britain was getting ready to import (deport) thousands of pesky Irish Catholics to California, who could be made into an army to fight for the Confederacy. If the Union fell, I suspect Fremont was prepared to declare a Nation of the West, and launch a European front to defeat the foreign allies of Slave Masters Consider ISIS Slave Masters recruiting Europeans to come take young girls slaves, and rape them. Mary Confederate Generals raped young black slaves.
When Janke brought six portable house around the Cape and erected them in Belmont, it is said he did so to provide housing for gold miners who struck it rich. But gold had not been discovered. I believe these homes were made for leaders of the Prussian Unification and founding of the Prussian State of California and a United West, that was not a part of the Union. I suspect John Fremont gave much of his gold to this Nation Building.
Seamens Friendly Union Society All seamen are invited to attend at the Turn Verein Hall on Bush Street between Stockton and Powell Streets on Thursday Evening, January 11 at 7 1/2 o’clock to form a Seamens Society for the Pacific Coast.
This meeting resulted in organization of the Seamens Friendly Union and Protective Society. Alfred Enquist was elected president and George McAlpine, secretary. It was the first organization of seamen in this country, perhaps the first in the world. In 1875, the United Seamen’s Association was formed in the port of New York, and it sent a delegation to Congress to petition for laws to protect seamen. The delegation, according to a news report in The New York Times of January 21, was “graciously received by the President.”
No more was heard of this organization.
The Seamen’s Friendly Union and Protective Society in San Francisco did not last long, and the next organization to come along was the Seamen’s Protective Union formed in San Francisco in 1878 with 800 members. It, too, had a short life.

It is time for Democrats to reach out to members of the Republican Party and show them their traditional roots. Down with Big Brother Jesus and the ‘one arm workout’ that makes the rich and powerful – stronger! Let us rescue our obese children from the Fat Cat Billionaire Club, and launch a new Physical Education Program that will get young people away from their electronic gadgets made overseas.

Godstow Abbey
The ruins of a 12th-century abbey, or nunnery, stand in a meadow beside the River Thames at Godstow, just north of the city. Godstow Abbey is famed as the burial place of ‘Fair Rosamund’ de Clifford, Henry II’s mistress.
History
The abbey was founded by Edith of Winchester, the widow of Sir William Launceline, in 1133. Edith, or Ediva, had a vision telling her to settle near Oxford and wait for a token from God bidding her to build a place in his name. She dwelt for some time at Binsey, until one night she heard a voice bidding her to ‘go where a light from heaven’ reached the ground, and there build a nunnery for 24 gentlewomen. She looked north and saw a light over Godstow. Edith went to Henry I and told him of her vision, and the king approved of her new foundation.
She was granted land on an island in the River Thames by John of St John, a local landowner, and established a Benedictine nunnery dedicated to St Mary and St John the Baptist. The abbey was enriched by a further grant of land by St John, and the church was finished by 1139.
It was dedicated in the presence of King Stephen, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and several bishops. The royal family was the major benefactor of Godstow Abbey, but leading nobles followed their example. Godstow was always a nunnery for aristocratic ladies, and women from many noble families in south-western England became nuns here.
Inside the chapel
Fair Rosamund
Tradition says that Rosamund de Clifford, Henry II’s mistress, was educated at Godstow Abbey, that she retired to the Abbey to live out her last few years, and that she died and was buried here in 1176.
That tradition may be based on a misreading of documentary evidence. What we know for certain is that Rosamund died at Woodstock, and was buried at Godstow. It made sense to bury her at Godstow Abbey since it was a nearby holy place for ladies of her class. There is no evidence to support the tale that she was poisoned by Queen Eleanor out of jealousy.
We also know that in 1176 Henry sent building materials to the Abbey, and gave it the income from two churches, presumably to make the abbey church a more suitable place for his mistress’s tomb.
In 1180 Walter de Clifford, Rosamund’s ambitious father, mentions in a deed that his wife and daughter were both buried at Godstow. From this evidence, we can be sure that Rosamund was buried at Godstow, but whether she had any other tie to the Abbey seems dubious.
In 1191 Bishop Hugh of Lincoln visited the Abbey and reported that Rosamund’s tomb beside the high altar was being treated like the shrine of a saint, which is not too surprising when you consider that it was a great honour for the nunnery to be the burial place of a king’s mistress.
Bishop Hugh was not happy seeing the reverence given to Rosamund de Clifford’s grave and ordered the body exhumed and reburied in the chapter house. A legend grew up that Rosamund’s spirit was disturbed by this move, and her ghost is said to wander amid the abbey ruins.
The medieval south wall
In 1284 Archbishop Peckham instructed the nuns to avoid contact with the scholars of Oxford following reports of unchaste behaviour by the sub-prioress. Worse was to follow, for in 1290 a carriage belonging to Godstow was stopped by persons unknown and a nun carried off. The nun may have been aware of the plot for shortly afterwards she was excommunicated.
The church authorities fought a losing battle against contact between the nuns and outsiders, particularly scholars from Oxford University.
The Abbey was never rich, for the aristocratic nuns maintained an expensive lifestyle, and in 1316 the king had to take the abbey into his protection due to its poverty.
At the Dissolution of the Monasteries Godstow had 16 nuns under the abbess. The abbess was given a pension of 50 pounds and smaller sums were granted the sisters. The abbey itself was given to Henry VIII’s physician, George Owen.
Owen tore down the abbey church and built a mansion called Godstow House from the abbey ruins. In 1645 Godstow House was badly damaged in the Civil War, and stone from the site was robbed for local buildings.
The site passed to the Earl of Abingdon in 1702 and stayed part of the Abingdon estates until 1902. In 1924 it was given to Oxford University in trust for the nation.
Standing remains of the abbey show a large rectangular enclosure bounded by rubble walls. There is a blocked doorway in the east wall and a pair of blocked arches in the north wall. The best-preserved part of the abbey ruins is an early 16th century chapel in the south-east corner of the site.
The chapel may have formed part of the abbess’s lodging. It follows the plan of a private chapel, with first-floor gallery giving access to a domestic building, now vanished. The most impressive feature of the chapel is a large east window with finely made tracery.
There have been numerous burials discovered on the site of the church, and tiles have been found on the riverbank, suggesting that the abbey buildings extended east as far as the water, which is now much further west than it was originally due to a new cut dug in 1780 and extended in 1885.
The south and west walls appear medieval, but the remainder probably daes to the 16th or 17th centuries.
Visiting
Godstow Abbey is located on the Thames Path long distance trail. It can be reached from central Oxford by following the footpath from Folly Bridge, along the river to Binsey. This walk is one frequently taken by Oxford writers CS Lewis and JRR Tolkein. Carry on north opposite Port Meadow and you will find the abbey ruins just past Godstow Lock.
An easier route is to park at Lower Wolvercote, where there is a parking area at the north-west edge of Port Meadow. Follow the road past the Trout Inn, over a narrow bridge, and turn left onto the Thames Path. You will see the abbey in the field ahead of you.
