If I had found his paper – then I would know the purging of the name of my relative from the cam[us of Oregon State – would be the Jewel in the Crown of the genealogical study of my Family Tree. Has Joseph Oresco done his family tree? What if he did – after he wrote his great paper that got him all of of attention (and a salary as a professor) and he discovered his great great grandfather was Joseph Lane, who was the first Governor of Oregon, Would this bid Joseph to write another more merciful paper – because Lane is related to Benton, and other historic white people? This paper bid me to look at the history of Attila the Hun and Genghis Kahan, and theorize, if my Bohemian ancestors, (with the help of the Knight Templars?) would not have stopped Khan from conquering THE NORDIC RACE of Europe, then the white race would cease to exist, and thus Hitler and Trump would not have obtained so much power. Joseph contends Khan would be content to be the Emperor of Peaceful Yurt Dwellers, who sustain themself by killing animal with a bow and arrow while riding horses. Senator Thomas Hart Benton was not a king, but a politician that was elected to serve five terms in the State of Missouri that sent thousands of Scot-Irish Immigrants to the Oregon Territory to secure it from rule by the King of England. If the democratic voters of Missouri did not like what Benton was selling, then they would have voted him out of office. Therefore, as a elected official, Benton is above being punished by a college President who rules like a Lord of the British Empire, his paying subjects! Non-white Citizens of Oregon are in the minority. But, it is the cunning psychology of the Guilt Meisters like Joseph Orosco, who seize power from the people of Oregon – without a ballot! To what end? How many people of color want the Guilt Meister to speak for them, and set the course of their lives? Is Ed Ray preparing to run for office?
Alexander Webb is in my family tree. He was the Regent of the City College of New York. He won the Congressional Medal Honor for his Gallantry at the battle of Gettysburg. Webb helped put an end to the Treason of Robert E. Lee, who is also in my family tree. I suggest Alexander’s name and image replace all tributes to Lee. On this day June 1, 2019, I found the Alexander Webb Collegiate History Society that will consist of a panel of white men and women, who will do extensive research, and ferret out racists and white supremist! The AWCHS will vote on new names for buildings.
The reason people of color will not be admitted to this society, is the contention one reads over and over again that White People are in denial, and own a innate racism, that does not allow them to police, and correct – past mistakes, transgressions, and trespasses. Dear Governor Kotek; There is a pending class action lawsuit against Governor DeSantis, that I want to be part of. I suggest the State of Oregon also join this suit because there is a racist history between the University of Oregon football team, and the University of Florida, that would not allow to black players to play a bowl game on their Florida campus. DeSantis is trying to defund all college lessons that look like Woke. What I see is people joining teams they believe represent them. This is dangerous. Five black police officers were arrest today for beating a black man to death. Did they see themselves as a team – against the world? The NCAA may be the most successfully integrated institution – in the world. Perhaps Phil Knight can help bring about true equity?

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – When an Oregon State University doctoral student had his visa suddenly revoked by the Trump Administration on April 4, he was told he must depart the U.S. “immediately.”
But according to the ACLU of Oregon, Aaron Ortega Gonzalez’s immigration status was terminated for no legal reason — effectively violating his student F-1 status and halting his research in rangeland ecology and management at the university’s College of Agricultural Sciences.Port of Portland to vote on revoking DEI policies
Now the ACLU is suing the Trump Administration on Gonzalez’s behalf for allegedly violating his due process rights. According to the lawsuit, the government is required to have a reason to terminate someone’s immigration status as well as give advance notice of — and an opportunity to respond to — his status revocation.

Nameless Nobodies On The March

When you are a nobody, a nothing, with no famous people in your family tree, you might be motivated to go after people who are somebody – and their family – so you can feel like somebody! I grew up on westerns that depicted a novice gunslinger going after a gun man with a reputation so as to – own a reputation!
Many Universities have been given large grants by wealthy and famous families. Many buildings are given the names of these people. A wealthy friend of mine donated to the new Eugene Library and he has a shelf baring his name, and my own – along with a third friend! How generous. This (nameless) friend was the head of a department at the Univversity Oregon and was put in charge of making sure Latino Studies was on par with other departments. I have photos of the demonstrations.
With the appearance of Robert Mueller on T.V. yesterday, saying he did not clear our President of Obstruction of Justice, a inventory needs to be taken of how many President of Universities voted for Trump – after hearing powerful evidence he is a racist, and, he condones sex abuse! Trump asked when Joe Paterno is coming back. President of OSU, Ed Ray, led the crusade to punish the Nitny Lions.
Did Ed vote for Trump? Did Ed contribute to any Republican candidates? Prelude to The World Holy Word War

Yesterday, on October 6, 2023, I went to the Knight Library to look for a book I found twenty years ago, that proves Jesus was a Priest overturning rulings by the Sanhedrin. He was not a prophet, or a Zealot, though I believe his judgements were the PRELUDE to the War of the Jews against Rome. When his revolt was defeated, his history was altered to keep the suppression of his followers – going – as long as it takes. The suppression of Jesus ‘The Freedom Fighter’ led to the attack on Israel – on the Sabbat. I did not find that book, but took this pic of me amongst a wall of books about the Jews. I knew my prophecies were about to come true. I am for Reformed Judaism which is being demonized by Israelis.
When I left the library, I thought about my ex-friend, Mark Gall, who was the head of the Department of Education at the University of Oregon. I could see the building he worked in when we first met. I was going to send him this article about Christians being attacked by Orthodox Jews. For years we had arguments about ‘The Israeli Right to Exist’. Mark still knows nothing about comparative religion – or just plain religion. I sent him articles on how orthodox Jews are attacking Christians. I am now convinced the Galls are writing a biography – behind my back – knowing I have been working on my autobiography for years. I have asked Mark Gall to help me. He authored many books. I suspect he showed one of my e-mails to the Corbin brothers, and is why I was un-invited to a wake for their father. I exceeded the limit of words I could send you, then I saw the light. In the two photographs of my Stuttmeister-Janke grandfathers, I saw they were framed by two trees – TWO PINE TREES! Are these the two trees that were-are found in Twin Pines Park that is located at the center of the City of Belmont? Before you and President Biden won the White House fair and square, I and Ed Howard were combining our Oakland History, the city where I was born. Were you born in Oakland where my kin took refuge after the Great San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. They lived below Joaquin Miller who brother published Jack London’s ‘Martin Eden’ in the Pacific Monthly. Jack lived and worked in Belmont and grew up in Oakland.
When the Belmont Historical Society did not respond to the photographs I posted on their sites, I wondered if they were looking at who I am on the internet. I posted my blogs on you and the Turnverein Abolitionists who chose John Fremont to run in the newly formed Republican Party. I am related to Fremont. I also posted one of my famous sisters paintings ‘Lena and Her Sisters’. Lena was our ‘Black maid who raised us when my mother went to work to support her four children. I surmised I was dealing with racists’, but, it is much worse than that. I dealing with people like Governor DeSantis and his people, who are engaging in SELECT HISTORY. They have gone way beyond EDITING HISTORY, they are passing laws that OUTLAWS HISTORY they do not like. Denny Lawher did not like your amazing history. I am still appalled – and in shock two years later. What Denny is saying ism “Thanks for your deposit of you family history! Now – GET LOST! There is a wreath and rifle in the tree if you look closely in one of the photos of my family which highly suggests they are paying traditional honor to their ancestors – who are buried in Twin Pines Park! It is traditional for Oddfellows to meet at the graves of loved ones on Sunday, and have a picnic. This order has genealogical archives like the Mormons do. Christians had an interest in suppressing the Oddfellows, then – and now! With the rise of Christian Nationalism inside the Republican Party, ONLY, a religious war is taking place in our Democracy. WASHINGTON – Today, the NAACP Board of Directors issued a formal travel advisory for the state of Florida. The travel advisory comes in direct response to Governor Ron DeSantis’ aggressive attempts to erase Black history and to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in Florida schools.
The formal travel notice states, “Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals. Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color.”
“Let me be clear – failing to teach an accurate representation of the horrors and inequalities that Black Americans have faced and continue to face is a disservice to students and a dereliction of duty to all,” said NAACP President & CEO Derrick Johnson. “Under the leadership of Governor Desantis, the state of Florida has become hostile to Black Americans and in direct conflict with the democratic ideals that our union was founded upon. He should know that democracy will prevail because its defenders are prepared to stand up and fight. We’re not backing down, and we encourage our allies to join us in the battle for the soul of our nation.”
The travel advisory was initially proposed to the Board of Directors by NAACP’s Florida State Conference. NAACP’s collective consideration of this advisory is a result from unrelenting attacks on fundamental freedoms from the Governor and his legislative body.
“Once again, hate-inspired state leaders have chosen to put politics over people. Governor Ron DeSantis and the state of Florida have engaged in a blatant war against principles of diversity and inclusion and rejected our shared identities to appeal to a dangerous, extremist minority,” said Chair of the NAACP Board of Directors, Leon Russell. “We will not not allow our rights and history to be held hostage for political grandstanding. The NAACP proudly fights against the malicious attacks in Florida, against Black Americans. I encourage my fellow Floridians to join in this fight to protect ourselves and our democracy.”
Following Gov. DeSantis’ so-called leadership in driving the state to reject students’ access to AP African American studies course in March, the NAACP distributed 10,000 books to 25 predominantly Black communities across the state in collaboration with the American Federation of Teachers’s Reading Opens the World program. The majority of the books donated were titles banned under the state’s increasingly restrictive laws. The NAACP continues to encourage local branches and youth councils to start community libraries to ensure access to representative literature.

Sons Of Confederate Veterans In Leadership Dispute

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV), a 109-year-old organization honored for its direct ties to the soldiers of the Confederacy, is reeling from a bitter brawl among its topmost leaders, a brawl that resulted in the ouster last month of Commander-in-Chief Denne Sweeney and five of his lieutenants.
On March 9 the removal was reversed by court order, putting Sweeney and the others back in power – but leaving a troubled future for the venerable organization.
With the SCV’s board of directors, known as the General Executive Council (GEC), split practically down the middle, the half opposing Sweeney held a meeting Feb. 16 by conference call and removed Sweeney and the officers whom he had appointed. Seeking legal clout to back themselves up, the following day the board filed suit in local court (known as Chancery Court) in Maury County, Tenn., where the SCV is headquartered. The judge issued a temporary restraining order supporting the board’s actions pending a full hearing March 9.
Automatically succeeding Sweeney was the GEC’s second-in-command, Lieutenant Commander-in-Chief Anthony Hodges. The other empty posts were also quickly filled.
The coup was the culmination of months of increasingly bitter division among the SCV leadership, which was troubled even before Sweeney’s narrow election to commander-in-chief at the national SCV convention last July, in Dalton, Ga. Spokesmen on both sides describe an organization split even at the state level between an “old guard,” that prefers a traditional approach of quietly honoring the Confederate past, and a new, more confrontational wing that is determined to tackle affronts to Confederate heritage in the courts and on the streets.
Following the Feb. 17 court action, Commander-in-chief Hodges, in a statement posted on the Internet, sought to assure the organization’s 30,000 to 35,000 members that the ouster was “mandatory,” and that “the GEC acted in the best interests of the SCV.”
“Never before have we faced such an atmosphere of intimidation in the SCV, in which members, officers and GEC members have been suspended or threatened with suspension or expulsion for little or no reason,” Hodges wrote. “Our pride in history has become, for a few, a faÁade masking anger, resentment and an apparent desire to browbeat the SCV into a new direction, one with [a] politically ideological path determined by a select few.”
Hodges listed eight allegations against Sweeney, including suspensions and threatened suspensions of board members, conducting “harassing investigations” against opponents on the board, and “creating and maintaining a hostile work environment.”
Hodges closed by warning members, “Be very skeptical of the shrill voices of contentiousness.” He asked for members’ “prayers, support and patience” in the board’s efforts “to return the SCV to an organization committed to reasonable conduct, a precious heritage and the rule of law.”
However, Sweeney predicted victory at the March 9 hearing, saying the other side “misrepresented a lot of things to the court.”
Sweeney added, “Close to 90 percent of the members are not happy about this. They’re not happy about a democratically elected board being overthrown.” Hodges and his supporters “have become like a little monarchy. Some people describe it as a house of lords.” Sweeney said he was getting 200 to 300 e-mails of support a day from members.
Sweeney’s appointees removed from the board by the Feb. 17 temporary restraining order included Adjutant-in-Chief Jim Dark, Chaplain-in-Chief Ron Rumberg, Editor-in-Chief (of SCV’s Confederate Veteran magazine) Frank Powell, Judge Advocate-in-Chief Sam Currin, and Chief of Staff Ron Casteel. The board also removed Trans-Mississippi Department council member Chuck Norred, who had been appointed by Sweeney to fill a vacancy.
Turnabout came on March 9, when Judge Robert Jones of the Chancery Court quashed his temporary restraining order and reinstated Sweeney and his appointees. Jones said the rump group of directors had given insufficient notice for the Feb. 16 conference call, and had unfairly barred Sweeney and his followers from joining in.
But the judge also ruled against several of Sweeney’s actions, including his suspension of past commanders-in-chief, who hold board positions on the GEC, and unilaterally filling the Trans-Mississippi vacancy.
Former commanders-in-chief with voting privileges, now numbering 11 out of the board’s 23 members, have a life term on the GEC. Other council members are elected every two years by delegates representing SCV camps around the country.
Sweeney blamed the infighting partly on “an ideological difference. A lot of the past commanders-in-chief are uncomfortable with being a more aggressive organization actively promoting Civil War heritage. They really want us to be a history club.”
But ideology “is not what’s driving this,” he said. “Past commanders-in-chief have controlled things for many years. Commander-in-Chief Wilson and myself were the first reform candidates. We haven’t gone along with what they wanted.” Ron Wilson preceded Sweeney as commander-in-chief, with Sweeney serving as his No.2.
Sweeney, a 15-year veteran of the SCV, added, “I have no radical agenda” other than “to defeat a lot of this political correctness” that has targeted Confederate symbols.
As for the immediate future, Sweeney acknowledged, “The board is severely divided between past commanders-in-chief and their supporters and the current administration. But we’re going to try to smooth things out and move forward. We’ll stop yelling at each other.” He said he would send the board an advance of his next article for Confederate Veteran, “and if they think there’s something defamatory, I’ll change it.” But he added, “I don’t know if we’ll ever get to the point of being good buddies again.”
Those close to the situation point to an elevation of tensions last year, when Wilson unilaterally removed an old-guard council member, a former commander-in-chief, citing the suspension of his law license in Missouri. The member sued in Chancery Court, and in an out-of-court settlement was allowed to return to the board. After Sweeney took command, he suspended him again.
Jim Dark, Sweeney’s adjutant-in-chief, said Sweeney removed the council member because Sweeney was threatened with a lawsuit by more than 200 members who wanted the man out.
But Jeff Massey, who served as adjutant-in-chief for the three weeks that Hodges took command, had another point of view. “Mr. Sweeney felt he had the god-given right to suspend him. He wanted to take his vote away. He had no right to do that.”
Sweeney also suspended another GEC member, citing voting fraud at the July convention. The suspensions took place in December at a GEC meeting outside Charlotte, N.C. Several old-guard members boycotted the meeting, a tactic used before. Sweeney got around the lack of quorum by declaring a temporary suspension of five who failed to show – thereby reducing the number needed. Judge Jones nullified the December meeting, saying Sweeney did not have the authority to suspend board members.
Massey, whose brother Troy Massey lost in the July election to Sweeney by 53 to 47 percent, said the SCV leadership under Wilson and Sweeney was “based on fluff and hyperbole. There is nothing there.”
“They don’t want any oversight,” Massey said. “They want these people (the old guard) gone. There’s a real drive to get rid of accountability.”
Massey said the March 9 ruling actually represented a triumph for the old guard, in that “All the substantive legal points were decided in favor of the past commanders-in-chief.” Although Sweeney and his appointees were reinstated, he said, the judge “dressed Mr. Sweeney down” and told him “he’d abused his office.”
“I believe the words were ‘dictatorial’ and ‘dictator,’” Massey said. “Now that he can no longer suspend people, the court effectively emasculated Mr. Sweeney’s ability to influence the board.”
Sweeney said Judge Jones urged the GEC to begin working together again. Sweeney cited April23 as a likely meeting date, outside Charlotte. But he also raised the specter of an emergency special convention, where SCV members could take matters into their own hands – possibly including the removal of board members.
A convention is scheduled for July, but Sweeney said many members don’t want to wait that long.
“I see a lot of grassroots support for a special convention,” he said. “A lot of members are agitating for it.” He said he would “confer with the GEC” before calling a convention.
Massey called the notion of a special convention “a colossal waste of time,” given the one scheduled for July. He said Sweeney’s real purpose was to avoid holding a board meeting until a special convention, when “I suspect they’ll try to throw all the past commanders-in-chief off the board.” He said the board’s voting makeup at present is “effectively an 11-to-10 split” against Sweeney.
Massey predicted that if a special convention is held, it will be in Virginia or the Carolinas, where Sweeney’s views are widely embraced and delegates to the meeting would be on his side. In order to make a quorum for a convention, the SCV must have 20 percent of its roughly 180 camps represented.
“This is a desperate power play they’re attempting,” said Massey. “It clearly demonstrates the vindictiveness of this group of people desiring to hold power.”
Massey downplayed the reaction of the membership, however.

Massey said the SCV was not paying the legal fees for the rump group that ousted Sweeney “at this time.” Asked who was, he said, “I prefer not to say. Many people are coming forward.”
Sweeney and his associates set up a legal defense fund of their own and hired what Ron Casteel, Sweeney’s chief of staff, described as “a highly regarded legal firm.”
Dark, Sweeney’s adjutant-in-chief, said he joined the board’s Feb 16 conference call and “protested the legality of it, but I was basically cussed at and abused.”
He said of the “little group of conspirators,” “They moved in a very unethical manner. They basically removed everybody on the council they could that opposed them, and refilled the positions with toadies who would do as they’re told.” At the grassroots level, he said, “Probably 90 percent of the membership is behind Sweeney.”
Dark said the trouble was that there were “two groups of individuals with very, very different opinions about where the SCV should be heading.” The “old-timers” were uneasy about “some fairly progressive programs” that were instituted in recent years, including the Sam Davis Youth Camp, a week-long summer camp on Southern history, and a program, modeled after the National Rifle Association, that established field representatives to recruit new members.
A 12-year member of the SCV, Dark said the ideological struggle began when he was a new member. “In response to political correctness, we decided we weren’t going to prevail if we decided to just be a bunch of nice guys.”
The struggle is also under way in some state divisions, according to Dark. Florida, for example, is split down the middle, he said, while in North Carolina “the vast majority of the membership are activists.”
Casteel said the old guard had controlled the SCV until Wilson and Sweeney took the helm, and pursued a more activist agenda that appealed to the membership. “The last two administrations have been very mindful of the desires of the membership at large,” he said. “The old guard couldn’t really care less what they think.”
Casteel said that from a public-relations point of view, by going to court to oust Sweeney the dissident council members “committed a form of suicide.” He added, “It’s going to be real interesting” to hear from the members at the nextconvention.
“When I use the word catastrophic, I really mean that,” said Casteel. The board members who ousted Sweeney “seriously underestimated the reaction of the membership. This shows you how out of touch those old goats are.”

This gray, water-stained parchment, damaged during the South Carolina Inter-State and West Indian Exposition of 1901–1902, can no longer be read. The large escutcheon in the upper left is the coat of arms of the Salvador family—a lion rampant between three gold fleurs de lys.
Francis Salvador’s grandfather was a Portuguese Jew who had migrated to England from Amsterdam early in the 18th century. The family had previously secured the right to a coat of arms, perhaps in Portugal or the Netherlands. The grant issued by the College of Heralds, while not a patent of nobility, permitted the elder Salvador to call himself “gentleman.”

“George Washington Hodges, one of the oldest and most respectable citizens of
Abbeville county, died at his late residence in the town of Hodges on Friday
night last (1876) after an illness of two days, at the advanced age of 84
years, and as his career has been an eventful one, we append some sketches
or incidents connected with his life which we doubt not will be read with much
interest:
“Gen. Hodges’ grandfather, of Culpepper, and his grandmother, of Richmond, Va.,
were married and emigrated to this country prior to the Revolution and settled
near where the town of Hodges now stands. They were the first settlers of that
vicinity, where they bought a tract of land, a portion of the English grant to
Salvador, the Jew, which had been sold to Rapley, an Englishman, and comprised
perhaps one-fourth of the land in Abbeville county, and was for a great many
years known as “The Jew’s Land.”
“During the Revolutionary war, General Hodges’ father, John Hodges, who held
the commission of major in the army of the Revolution, and the general’s
grandfather were actively engaged in the war against the tories and the redmen.
On one occasion the grandfather was at home on leave of absence, when the fact
was ascertained by the Indians, who came to this house unexpectedly, shot the
furloughed soldier dead in the presence of his family, tied the ladies, his
daughters, some four in number, preparatory to burning them and the house,
when the Indian chief, who was with the murderous gang, became enamored of the
beauty of one of the sisters, Dorothy, and proposed to her that if she would
become his wife her life should be saved.
“Her condition then might not be easily imagined. Here she was in the hands of
the murderers of her father, in the presence of his lifeless body, tied with her
sisters in the house which was soon to be enveloped with the consuming element.
Her only rescue from the impending doom was to swear that she would ever love,
cherish and obey, and keep in sickness and health a natural enemy and the murderer
of her father and sisters. The exultation of the demoniac fiends over the grief
and heartrending exclamations of these defenseless and distressed creatures was
beyond description. Finally, when this young lady, more beautiful than the rest,
was forced to a choice, she reluctantly consented to be the wife of the Indian
chief, and was loosed from the cords which bound her limbs, to be the more firmly
bound soul and body by a solemn oath to the leader of these cruel assassins.
Being removed from the dwelling she was rescued from the flames whilst the torch
was applied to the house, and her sisters perished in her presence whilst the war
dance and the song kept up the fiendish carnival.
UNWILLING BRIDE.
“Dorothy was perhaps the most unhappy and the most unwilling bride upon whom
the genial sunlight of South Carolina had ever fallen.
“She was carried west with the retreating foe of the white man, as the whites
gained supremacy, and as the days, weeks and months passed she was farther
removed from the pale of civilization. In the meantime, however, her husband
loved her with a devotion not characteristic of the Indian. The chief was proud
of and rejoiced in the possession of his beautiful “pale faced wife.” His love
for her and his association with her had a wonderfully refining influence over
the red man. At the birth of their son his affection seemed warmer than before.
If Dorothy had not learned to love her husband this child was loved by the mother
as only mothers can love. Away from the presence or association of a white person,
it seemed that her whole soul concentrated in her babe, and the love of father and
mother met in the infant boy, and they held sweet communion with each other as to
their child.
“Years passed by and the Indian was as kind as one of his nature could be, and she
had almost become reconciled to her fate.
“After the war had smoothed his wrinkled front” Dorothy expressed to her husband
a desire to see her friends and relatives in Carolina, and her husband, having
unbounded confidence in her loyalty now, arrangements were soon completed for a
visit to her old home. They were then living in Alabama. The Indian chief,
accompanied by Dorothy and her child, set out on the journey. When the husband
had come to the borders of the state, as far as it was safe at that time for him
to come, pledging anew their faith and love for each other, and after making
arrangements as to when he should meet her at the same place, on her return,
they separated.
“Little did either think that this was their final separation, but it was even so.
At the time in this country there was but little facility for the conveyance of
letters anywhere, but especially was this true as regards communication between
this place and the territory occupied by the unfriendly Indian. As a consequence
no word had been heard from her since her capture years before, and her friends
had mourned for her as for the dead.
“Very unexpectedly to everybody she returned to Cokesbury, and her friends
greatly rejoiced. At the meetiing of her relatives tears of joy were shed
and the father of General Hodges gave a grand feast to which all the relatives
and neighbors were invited, and they assembled in joy to greet the long lost
friend and relative.
“Once more in the bosom of her family, she became the prey of a thousand
conflicting emotions, until at last, when the time arrived for her return,
she yielded to the intercession of her friends and cast in her lot with
them henceforth.
“In the course of years she seemed to forget her troubles, and being yet of
fine personal appearance and possessed of attractive manners, a citizen by the
name of Rosemond sought her heart and hand in marriage. In the course of time
they were married, after which they remained in this county for a number of years
and to them were born a number of children. The family moved west, taking all
the children by the second marriage, and it is believed that there is now no
descendant of this branch of the Hodges family remaining in Abbeville county.
RETURNS TO FATHER.
“Before their departure the little Indian boy grew up, was sent to school,
and soon began to show the characteristics of the race. Having heard of his
father and wishing to learn more of his father and his people, he set out
before he had arrived at the age of maturity for the Indian territory from
which he never returned, and from him nothing was ever afterwards heard.
“General Hodges remembered seeing the Indian boy and heard the story, which we
have just related, from his mother’s own lips.
“General Hodges father lived within a mile and a half of the present site of
Hodges’ depot. General Hodges himself lived all his life within a mile and a
half of his birthplace. When he first went to housekeeping there was but little
cleared land in the county, and game was so plentiful that it ravaged the crops–
Mrs. Hodges once having shot a deer that was feeding in their turnip patch.
“General Hodges, by his industry and economy, managed to amass a considerable
fortune, and when he built his late dwelling 54 years ago, it was considered
the finest house above Columbia.
MEMBER LEGISLATURE.
“He was once a member of the state legislature, and long held a commissioned
office in the militia of the Savannah regiment. In all matters of public
interest he always took an active part, and at one time he was sent as
commissioner to the Indians, with whom he was exceedingly poplar, and who
were delighted because of his smoking with them the pipe of peace. The general
could send up volumes of smoke so much larger than they could, and they were so
much delighted that great numbers of the men and women of the neighborhood
assembled on the second day after his arrival to see the white man smoke the
pipe of peace.
“The town of Hodges was named for him, on the establishment of the railroad
depot at that place. When the telegraph line was finished to that place a few
years ago the first message, a congratulatory epistle was addressed to him as
the “Patriarch.” He preserved this message, which is still in possession of
the family. He was the ‘Pater Familias’ of the town which bears his name.”

Black Turnverein

Yesterday, I admitted I have gotten out of shape due to COVID-19. Today I founded the Black Turnverein Channel that hopefully will be broadcast across America. Many black athletes will not be taking the field in our Nation’s colleges. I moved to Springfield fourteen years ago and bonded with some of the black Oregon Ducks. For awhile there was a group of blacks who met near the playground to do exercise. I joined them. I was seventy years – young!
With the coming of Black Live’s Matter, the whole world is looking at major issues that can, and will change the course of world history. It was traditional for Turnverein Clubs to hold debates of all kinds. These German immigrants go involved in our Democracy and served in the Union Army and helped defeat the Confederate Conspiracy – which is still alive! With my discovery my kin, John Fremont, formed the Radical Democracy Party in order to get Abraham Lincoln to drop out of the rice, opens up a huge field of topics in regards to how thoroughly black slaves were oppressed in the United States.
I would like to see the Black Panthers found a Black Turnverein in Oakland California. There is talk about armed Black Militias. My kin, Carl Janke, founded a Turnverein in Belmont and San Francisco where a armed Vigilante Committee may have been preparing to fight the Confederacy – as well as maintaining Law and Order. These issue are up! This history has returned.
I am for seeing armed black groups – if they take advantage of the Turnverein history. I would love to see the Black Panthers marching down Broadway and parading at Merritt College – after the coronavirus is no longer a threat. Being of sound body and mind was the motive of the Turnverein that admitted Jews who went on of the create Muscular Judaism, and, founded the New Israel. Are we to see Jews doing the goosestep in Los Angeles where live the largest Jewish population outside Israel? I have roots in Reformed Judaism.
I highly suggest BLM contact Ursula Von Der Leyen who went to Stanford. Tell her you want to set up a cultural exchange with Germany. Blacks should learn German. English is the language of the slave masters. I would start classical music clubs and learn the goose step that many nations south of the Trump Wall have adopted. I would recognize Cuba, who were taught to goose step by the Russians – who learned it from my Prussian kin. The Germans were for the cultural advancement of the black slaves – they were determined to set free! Germany did take part in the slave trade and there is reparation conversation about the genocide of Africans. Perhaps Germans will donate violins and other instrument to black students – who may not go back to school. The Black Turnverein channel can teach children to play and speak German. Why Trump and the Republicans snub Germany, is to say:
“The enemy of my enemy – is my friend!”
“Donald Trump is suggesting the United States should treat Germany more like an enemy because the two countries were adversaries in World War II as the president again lobbied for closer US-Russian relations.”
Huey Newton came up with a plan he titles ‘Internationalism’. I know Black Lives Matter has stepped into the Limelight of History – that is on their side! There are around forty-two million black people in America and the same amount for Americans with German roots. I have a vision of black men and women speaking in German in a public place. They are discussing the German and Black Composers. I see a black man standing on stage at Carnegie Hall singing the BLM anthem, a blues number sang to Beethoven’s Sonata Claro de Luna. This is the first victory song. as a historian, I testify BLM won it’s first victory. We have a major contender on the World Stage.

Earliest legend of an Oddfellows fraternity is linked to the exile of the Israelites in Babylon, when many banded together into a brotherhood for mutual support. After the fall of Jerusalem (AD70), the fraternity is said to have continued amongst Jewish prisoners and was taken to Rome. It was recognised by Emperor Titus Caesar and from there it spread across the Empire.

Janke Park, Hall, And Stagecoach Line

Very few families can say their kindred owned a Stagecoach Line, Theme Park, and a Turnverein Hall, or two. Carl Janke was half owner of the Belmont Accommodation Company that ran between Belmont ‘Beautiful Mountain’, and Halfmoon Bay. Mrs. Walter E. Janke was the President of the Cap and Bells Club that employed the cap of the Jester in its emblem. Consider the Merry Pranksters. Musicals, plays, and “Jinks” were performed. Consider the Hi-jinks of the all male Bohemian Club. Is this a feminists answer? It appears the Cap and Bells founded an art gallery. Was this the formation of the Outdoor Art League?

My first posts were about Turnverein Germans, and Forty-Eighters who founded the Republican Abolitionist Party and fought Confederate Traitors to free slaves. This is the main reason I got in trouble because the white folks of Belmont want their city to remain a white enclave, and not have a direct descendant of the founder if Belmont, put his history in my back pocket -to do with it what I will. This is a new brand of Fascism, where any white sympathizer of black causes, is MARKED as a undesirable, their history erased, and then they are publicly SHAMED? What kind of attorney will hand my suit? This is hardly the kind of treatment one would expect when asked to contribute your history.

I came to the Belmont Historical Society via my friend, Ed Howard, and my therapist who treated ne for PTSD. I promised to start promoting myself. I have been promoting Ed Howard’s history of Oakland because we were born in Oakland. The four Presco Children were raised by a black maid who took Christine home with her to share her with her three sisters who had been maids in mansions in Mississippi. Then came the call for ship workers in Marin.
I posted Rosamond’s painting ‘Lena And Her Sister’s and it was taken down. Ed’s brother was going to drive me to the Naval cemetery to see my parents who served. My two siblings went over to the dark side when a outsider bought my families creative legacy, and they did not tell me my father was dead, and, my other was dying, My brother is a racist neo-Nazi who also descends from Carl Janke and William Stuttmeister, two men who lived in Belmont. I thought I would establish my history on a Belmont site, and then apply for several grants, that would help Ed and I preserve the history of Oakland, and our families. Is this the history Bemont wants….

I began to wonder if racism was their motive when after I posted on my famous sister, then on our cousin, Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, I got no response. It was hard to believe. THEY did not want these famous white people backing black people – especially when they are kin to my family members they captured, and made them THEIR prisoners. Yesterday I discovered one of my great grandfathers founded a Turnverein Hall on Bush Street in San Francisco. This hall was a place one could go hear music and practice gymnastics. The Seamens Friendly Union met here, and the Vigilance Committee. Plays were performed, and debates held. This is the radical root of San Francisco that I have traced to the Longshoreman’s Hall and the first Acid Tests. The Turner hall offered music and other entertainment as an alternative to gambling and prostitution. My father was a Merchant Marine and would be pleased to know the first institution for furthering sailor rights met in the Bush hall.
“All seamen are invited to attend at the Turn Verein Hall on Bush Street between Stockton and Powell Streets on Thursday Evening, January 11 at 7 1/2 o’clock to form a Seamens Society for the Pacific Coast.”
The Vigilance Committee combatted corruption and violence. These were idealists that lay the groundwork for a city famous for it cultural revolutions.

Yesterday I received information from Shirley Schwoerer of the Redwood City Library, that said my ancestor, Carl August Janke, was instrumental in establishing a Turnverien in Belmont, and the Bay Area. Was it the first?
“He erected the old amusement hall of the Turnverein, and managed this for several years.”
Janke may be the first real estate developer in the San Francisco bay area.
“In 1849 the family came around the Horn on an old Clipper ship, and Mr. Janke brought with him on the trip the material for six portable houses. He set up these houses, and at once engaged in a successful business, as a building contractor.”
Visiting the sick was a daring, bold thing to do in 1819, and indeed for in excess of one hundred years more, because of the very real possibility the visitors would contract the illness or disease. Odd Fellows, and Rebekahs after they came into existence in 1851, visited the sick as a matter of course. Odd Fellows and Rebekahs continue to this day to make special efforts to visit the sick.
Relief of the distressed was a major goal of most or all fraternal organizations, then and now. Odd Fellow Lodges normally provided monetary sick benefits to its members who were ill or injured and unable to work. A few California lodges still provide monetary sick and/or death benefits for members. Assistance to those in need, whether in the form of donations to charities, or donations of money or goods and services to members or others in the community is commonly provided today by all lodges.
In addition, lodges commonly provided all kinds of assistance to members who were in need, such as a box of groceries, a cord of wood, or a member or visiting nurse to care for a seriously ill member at home. With the modern day social welfare programs operated by government agencies, these services by the Order are no longer as vital as they once were, but Odd Fellows and Rebekahs still provide friendship that members require for a wholesome and full life.
Odd Fellow Lodges continue to conduct funeral and memorial services for members when requested prior to their death or by their families. This may be the only service, or may be in conjunction with a church service or with other organizations.
Educating the orphan was also taken seriously, and orphans of Odd Fellows, and Rebekahs too, could expect to receive at least a high school education through the lodge. In California the Rebekahs were in the forefront of caring for the orphans, and in the late 1800’s they were granted authority to establish the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Children’s Home in Gilroy. They likewise were in the forefront of providing funds to insure an education for orphans and needy children of members.
The “Big Four” cemeteries were Odd Fellows’, Masonic, Laurel Hill, and Calvary. They were located in the Inner Richmond area of San Francisco, and surrounded Lone Mountain, with Odd Fellows’ to the west, Masonic to the south, Laurel Hill to the north, and Calvary to the east. These are the cemeteries on which A Second Final Rest concentrates. While many other cemeteries came and went before the “Big Four” were removed, the “Big Four” were the ones most directly affected by legal battles and referenda that finally banished almost all cemeteries from San Francisco. They were removed from San Francisco between the early 1930s and 1947. All bodies were exhumed and relocated by 1941, but lack of manpower due to World War II prevented the complete removal of monuments from Laurel Hill until 1947.
What happened to the bodies once they were removed from the cemeteries?
The vast majority of bodies were moved to mass gravesites in Colma, a small town known as “The City of Souls”, just a few miles south of San Francisco. Colma has the peculiar distinction of being home to approximately 2,000 living and 2 million deceased individuals. Colma has seventeen cemeteries, including a pet cemetery.

I suspect the Republicans were giving clear messages to foreign entities that they had won the Civil War and the United States would honor the debts it incurred putting down Insurrectionists, so, that if there arose another rebellion, the same foreign powers would come to the aid of Democracy – and not those who killed to own human beings. This amendment is rewarding loyalty, and punishing disloyalty. Those who engaged in insurrection on Jan 6th. were punished. Lawmakers who support the Insurrectionist this very day, should be disqualified from voting on the Debt Ceiling – and not be allowed to run for office.

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

My Odd Fellow Kindred Evicted From Graves

At great expense to himself, my great-grandfather, William Suttmeister, moved the bodies of his wife and kindred from the Laurel Hill cemetery in San Francisco to a tomb in Colma where I brought my daughter and grandson so they can own their heritage. These bodies were evicted from their graves. Many tombstones were used to make a sea wall.
- Continued use of the Belmont campus for academic purposes, furthering the tradition of higher education in the city.
- A campus design that welcomes community access to recreation and walking paths.
- A commitment to continue Stanford’s strong record in sustainable development and campus management – including sustainable buildings, operations, and transportation programs.
- Continuing the residential nature of the campus by providing a minimum of 50 housing units for Stanford affiliates, and up to 200, depending on programmatic needs.
- Ralston Mansion – Stanford will invest in the restoration and preservation of Ralston Mansion, and will create opportunities for the community to again utilize the facility, which was closed in 2012.
- Koret Field – Koret Field will be available for use and/or rental by the community.
- Ralston corridor transportation improvements – During the first phase of new development, and in consultation with the City, Stanford will design and fund improvements to the Ralston Avenue/campus entrance intersection to improve existing congestion on Ralston Avenue. In addition, Stanford will commit to improving bicycle access to the train station along the Ralston corridor.
