Alas I saw The Bride of Frankenstein last night. I Texted my ex-friend Jill Hill and told her it was on. No reply. What’s the problem? I put her name next to a famous NY artist and Art Movement, and she snubs me? Does she want to be a famous artist, someday, and I fell short? Halloween is coming around. I asked Jill why she didn’t invite me to her big Spooky Show held on the grounds of where I live. I did not get the reason – why! Why?
Well, shed told me she needs money because she is going to be evicted. She put a vase of flowers at my door. I suspect she wants to use the name Christine Rosamond to save herself. I won’t allow it. Instead I put her name next to Heide Hatry, whom Christine shoved in the face when she went to kiss Stefan Eins at her art show. Anthoney Haden Guest was in shock. He and Christine talked. When he leatned she grew up on Beacon Hill, he took her hand…..and kissed it!
Later, Christine needed a roof job on her house. She has no money. I told her to get a hold of Guest and have him do a interview. She snubbed me, like Jill is snubbing me. I was going to send Christine a pic of CZ Guest, because I suspect she is her real mother.
The minute Jill left my home at 12L30 AM it began to thunder and lightening. I suspect Jill saw this as a TRANSFERENCE of art energy from me – to her! Alas she will be known, and her Screaming Rocks will fly off the shelf. When I saw the beginning of the Bride of Frankenstein, I saw the continuation of our creative conversation.
Christine hated Heridi’s show that consisted of bloodly animal skin sewn together. There was…….BLOOD!
How many days to Halloween?
FLASH! EXTRA!
Ten minutes after I posted the rough draft – it began to thunder and lightening. I call for one mighty strike – and get it! Unfortunately the battery on my phone, died, and I did not catch the crying of a dog.

Carmine Street Artists

Jackson Pollock lived on Carmine Street as did the De Koonings (No.63) who fought all the time. Stefan Eins helped Chris paint her apartment. He hung some of his works of art on her wall and pointed out a Ein’s Stain by her refrigerator. I asked Chris if Stefan considered her place his museum. Pollock’s mentor was the artist, Thomas Hart Benton, who also lived near the Village. Aarron Burr lived in Pollock’s abode that we see remodeled.

“The Guests are from real patrician stock, unlike the Vanderbilts and Rockefellers, who are descended from crooks.”
Definition of patrician
1 : a member of one of the original citizen families of ancient Rome
2 a : a person of high birth : aristocrat
- one of the most nobly born of English patricians
- —Sam Schulman
b : a person of breeding and cultivation
- a tall patrician … who looked as if she was accustomed to serving on boards and making important decisions
- —J. A. Michener
I have looked a lot of family trees, and knew one day I would come upon a statement like the one above. Here is C’s family tree.
After taking her hand and placing it on the cheek of Heidi Hatry, then – giving it a shove – Christine Wandel became aware of man standing nearby with a dropped jaw! This jaw belongs to Anthony Haden Guest who is kin to CZ Guest, who just may be the most titled person in American history. Her daughter is kin to William and Harry Windsor thru their mother, Princess Diana Spencer, and Winston Churchill. CZ is in the peerage, as are her parents. But what is astounding, the linage of her father is not followed. CZ descends from the Douglas Earls of Agnus, and may have Stewart and Tudor blood in her veins. If so, this would have put CZ in line to the throne of England – if she was a British citizen. Who disowned, who? These are more than Boston Brahmans. Christine is a Boston Blueblood, and she reminds me of CZ, who I think was an Enlightened Woman. I believe she is Monica in my unfinished masterpiece ‘The Gideon Computer’.
So, Anthony is staring at Christine, who says to her;
“No one has been possessive of me like this!”
He is suggesting this might be a good idea – brought back. Anthony asks C’s name, she gives it, and adds;
“I am from Boston.”
Anthony lights up with this information, takes C’s hand, and kisses it!
We have arrived at the Blenheim Palace Labyrinth that is at the core of my autobiography ‘Capturing Beauty’ that includes the true story of my late sister, who was the world famous artist ‘Rosamond’.
This morning I watched a video of Anthony being interviewed by Charlie Rose about his book ‘True Colors’. Christine has met a kindred soul. He is the art critic I have been searching for. There was an argument about “manners”. CZ was an authority on this. This is the tip of the iceberg. CZ aspired to be an actress and dated Errol Flynn, as did my mother and aunt, who died not knowing Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor is our kin. Anthony wrote the definitive book on art comingled with the pop and celebrity culture, that Liz trail blazed. I will read ‘True Colors’ so I can ground the success of my late sister in a reputable critique, that, good, or bad, will be an honest one. I would like to interview Anthony.

“I’m very intuitive, very sensitive to people,” C.Z. Guest says. “I have good judgment and common sense. I know the difference between right and wrong. Being what I am has helped me. I think manners are the most important thing in life. How you treat each other. That’s very important. To have respect, consideration. Goodness. I’ve been married to the same man for 30 years and manners have been very important in keeping us together.”
Manners have to be taught, the same way right and wrong have to be taught and there lies the crux of C.Z. Guest’s thesis.
Born in Paris, Haden-Guest is the son of Peter Haden-Guest, a United Nations diplomat who later became 4th Baron Haden-Guest. His mother was Elisabeth Haden-Guest, née Louise Ruth Wolpert. As Haden-Guest was born before his parents’ marriage, upon his father’s death the peerage passed to his younger half-brother, Christopher Guest, a comedian, actor, writer, director, musician and Grammy Award-winning composer.[2]
Debutante Years[edit]
Cornelia made her debut in the winter of 1981-1982 at the International Debutante Ball at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.[5] Her 18th birthday party included author Truman Capote (a childhood friend), Prince Egon von Fürstenberg (1946–2004), supermodel Cheryl Tiegs, John Bowes-Lyon who is Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, Andy Warhol (another childhood friend), make-up artist Way Bandy, heiress and philanthropist Doris Duke, and Jerry Zipkin, a socialite, escort, and confidante of First Lady Nancy Reagan, as guests.[5][6] Capote, a Guest family friend, explained to People magazine why Guest’s soiree attracted so many celebrities, royals, and powerful people: “Cornelia has a No. 1 name. The Guests are from real patrician stock, unlike the Vanderbilts and Rockefellers, who are descended from crooks.”[5]
Covering a period in which the prevailing artistic fashion has rapidly shifted and when art, money, talent, and celebrity have been confused, a study of the last twenty-five years of the contemporary art world offers vivid portraits of key artists as they strive to fulfill their ambitions. Tour.
Artists, dealers, collectors, auctioneers, critics — seemingly everyone involved with the contemporary art world makes an appearance in ”True Colors,” Anthony Haden-Guest’s devastating account of the art scene during the past three decades, when vested interests supplanted esthetic concerns. The book is top-heavy with revealing anecdotes and names — it sometimes reads like a directory. One must also endure Mr. Haden-Guest’s occasionally irritating prose, punctuated by snappy jargon and ho-hum metaphors. But drawing on his background as a cultural journalist, he proves a valuable guide through an art landscape that acquired ”a heated, garish quality, like the set for a game show.” ”True Colors” may surpass an outsider’s worst suspicions about the ”nonchalant ruthlessness” of ”an art world where all that anybody talked about was money.” ”I really enjoy sales. Sales is a form of conscious control,” says Jeff Koons, a one-time Wall Street broker who became a prominent artist in the mid-80’s. Advising other art dealers on how to handle their clients, Mary Boone suggests, ”Get them into debt. . . . Get them to buy lots of houses, get them to have expensive habits and girlfriends. . . . That’s what really drives them to produce.” There is ultimately a tedious sameness to such candid venality. But in addition to in-depth looks at Julian Schnabel, Jean-Michel Basquiat and their kind, the story is supplemented by a rich variety of stomach-churning reports on artists whose work entails self-mutilation. The grisly extremes some people have stooped to for their 15 minutes of attention suggest they would welcome even the scathing treatment they receive here.
The Family Tree of Fair Rosamomd and Princess Diana have roots at Blenheim palace, as does the Hart family. Though it can not be proven Ann Hart Hull had children from whom Royal Rosamond descends – at this time – my family is forever enjoined to the Legends of Rosamond that abound with speculations. When I connect Rosamond to the Holy Grail, then I will own all these legends that have come into my family in modern times. Fair Rosamond, and the seven Hart sisters, will be forever entwined.

I talked to Christine in New York City last night. It had been almost a year.
Christine grew up in a four story home on Hancock Street on Beacon Hill. Her father was a doctor that had his office on the first floor, and treated the Blue Bloods of Boston. Chris went to the finest schools, and attended Mills College in Oakland California where she majored in Theology. Religion is in her blood.
In looking for Christine Wandel’s ancestors, I found Marie-Louis Wandel who at the time was the Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations from Denmark. I had Christine give her a call. Marie-Louise told Christine all the Wandels lived in a city in Denmark and are kin to a Bishop. After talking to Chris last night, I have found this Bishop, and the city. It is the oldest in Denmark. Johan Wendt-Wandal-Vandel-Wandel was appointed the Bishop of Ribe by King Christian 111 because Wandel was a disciple of Martin Luther, and was with him when he nailed his theses on the church door in Wittenberg.
Johan was a Wend. Vandal (Wenth ell Slavus), Johan – 1541, a Lutheran Reformer and Bishop indicated (on tombstone in Ribe) as born in Goslar. Prince Phillip is the living history of what was set in stone by King Christian the Reformer. King Waldemer IV of Denmark who died in 1375, assumed the official title of “King of the Wends”. This title was used until 1972.
In 1509, Douglas married Margaret Hepburn, daughter of the Earl of Bothwell. After her death, and that of his father, in 1513, on 6 August 1514 the new Earl of Angus married the dowager queen and regent, Margaret Tudor, widow of James IV, mother of two-year-old James V, and elder sister of Henry VIII of England. The marriage stirred up the jealousy of the nobles and the opposition of the faction supporting French influence in Scotland. Civil war broke out, and Margaret lost the regency to John Stewart, Duke of Albany.
Lucy Douglas “C. Z.” Guest (née Cochrane; February 19, 1920 – November 8, 2003) was an American stage actress, author, columnist, horsewoman, fashion designer, and socialite who achieved a degree of fame as a fashion icon. She was frequently seen wearing elegant designs by famous designers like Mainbocher. Her unfussy, clean-cut style was seen as typically American, and she was named to the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1959.[1]

She was born on February 19, 1920, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Vivian Wessell and Alexander Lynde Cochrane, an investment banker. Her brother called her “Sissy” and she transformed that into “C.Z.”[2] She dabbled in acting, including an appearance in the Ziegfeld Follies in 1944.
One of Bruce Weber’s collections of photographs of the American super-smart has a sequence about CZ Guest, who has died aged 83. There are her couture clothes awaiting amendment in the sewing room at Templeton, Old Westbury, New York; her puggy, poochy pets; her portrait in oils; and silver-framed snaps of her sharing a joke at half a century of classy society functions.
But the only direct shot of CZ shows just a bejewelled ear, and the flick at the end of her cap of straight hair. She had simplified herself into a logo, and nothing more than that flick was needed to suggest to America this pin-up of old money who had become a respected gardening adviser.
CZ had loved plants ever since she pestered the gardener to her Bostonian family (papa a banker, mama a showgirl) in the grounds of their 40-room mansion. She had her own little garden, with corn, beans, lettuce, zinnias and marigolds. She also had horses: throughout her life, she assumed, said designer Oscar de la Renta, “that everybody had a pony”; she hunted foxes with General Franco, and was trained to compete at equestrian shows. It was the standard Boston Brahmin apprenticeship for matrimony, but she rebelled.
Her brother had called her Sissy, for sister; she adapted it to CZ – pronounced See Zee – and, acknowledged at 17 to be the golden goddess of the Massachusetts north shore, fled for a few flagrant years. She went on stage, first in a local revue, then as a Broadway showgirl in the 1944 Ziegfeld Follies. After heading for California, she studied at the 20th Century Fox studio; she never got into a movie, but figured big in gossip columns, dating, among others, Errol Flynn. She went to Mexico and posed in the nude for Diego Rivera.
Rumour goes that when, in 1947, CZ married Winston Frederick Churchill Guest, heir to a steel fortune, his family bought the picture from the Mexico City bar where it hung. Their unBostonian wedding was at the Havana home of best man Ernest Hemingway, a big-game hunting chum of the groom. CZ was, as Guest’s second wife, a perfect match. He was a polo champion, and organised the French racing stables they owned; she ran their stables in Virginia. Nor did “ran” mean waving imperiously at stablehands; she exercised her horses every day, and rode in major shows.
Her jodhpur-clad attitude to clothes was important to the history of American fashion. A sporty, outdoorsy style had developed there since the 1890s: tennis wear, sailing gear and riding clothes were the natural uniform of the upper classes and Hollywood stars, and were copied by everybody. But then the success of Dior’s Parisian New Look in 1947 persuaded American women that high fashion must be unsporting and indoorsy.
On March 8, 1947, she married Winston Frederick Churchill Guest, the son of Frederick Guest, who was a son of Ivor Bertie Guest, 1st Baron Wimborne, and Lady Cornelia Henrietta Maria Spencer-Churchill (daughter of John Spencer-Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough) who, through his mother, was a first cousin of Sir Winston Churchill, and was a national polo champion.[2][3] Ernest Hemingway was best man at the wedding, which took place at Hemingway’s home in Havana, Cuba. The couple had two children, Alexander Guest and Cornelia Guest. C. Z. Guest was pictured on the cover of the July 20, 1962, issue of TIME magazine as part of an article on American society. [1]
After a horse riding accident in 1976, Guest was asked by the New York Post to write a column on gardening. Her first book, First Garden, was illustrated by her friend Cecil Beaton. Other friends included Truman Capote, Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur, Barbara Hutton, Diana Vreeland, Babe Paley and William S. Paley, Gloria Guinness and Thomas “Loel” Guinness and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor who were the godparents of their children.
Much photographed, she was also painted by Diego Rivera, Salvador Dalí, Kenneth Paul Block and Andy Warhol. [2]
In 1985 she designed a small fashion collection consisting mainly of cashmere sweaters that was introduced at a show of the designer Adolfo Domínguez. In 1986, she expanded her design work to include a limited line of sportswear sold under license, and in 1990 she came out with a fragrant insect repellent and other garden merchandise. [3]
Death[edit]
Guest died on November 8, 2003 in Old Westbury, New York at age 83. A friend was driving her to the hospital after she was experiencing breathing difficulties at home.[2]
Anthony Haden-Guest (born 2 February 1937) is a British-American writer, reporter, cartoonist, art critic, poet, and socialite who lives in New York City and London. He is a frequent contributor to major magazines and has had several books published.[1][2]

Family[edit]
Born in Paris, Haden-Guest is the son of Peter Haden-Guest, a United Nations diplomat who later became 4th Baron Haden-Guest. His mother was Elisabeth Haden-Guest, née Louise Ruth Wolpert. As Haden-Guest was born before his parents’ marriage, upon his father’s death the peerage passed to his younger half-brother, Christopher Guest, a comedian, actor, writer, director, musician and Grammy Award-winning composer.[2]
A humorous blurb on the back cover of The Chronicles of Now, a book of Haden-Guest’s cartoons published by Allworth Press, reads as follows:[1]
Boring, pompous, and a complete and utter waste of time. I don’t know what my brother was thinking.
—Christopher Guest.
Through Christopher Guest, Haden-Guest is brother-in-law of actress Jamie Lee Curtis. The heir presumptive to the barony is actor Nicholas Guest, younger half-brother of Anthony and brother to Christopher.[1]
Career[edit]
Haden-Guest formerly penned a weekend column on art collection for the Financial Times[3][4] His drawings have appeared in the New York Observer and he has contributed articles and stories to the Sunday Telegraph, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Paris Review, Sunday Times, Esquire, GQ (UK), The Observer, Radar and other major publications. In 1979 he was awarded a New York Emmy for writing and narrating the PBS documentary The Affluent Immigrants.[1][2][5] Wrote Down the Programmed Rabbit-Hole‘ a collection of essays on 1970s corporates.
Haden-Guest frequently turns to upscale Manhattan social life for his subject matter as seen in the following sample of his work from Rolling Stone:[6]
The lead singer had been married to one of those decadent European rich so numerous in Manhattan nowadays—”International White Trash,” as the uncharitable put it—and there was a sizeable splinter group of fashionable uptown faces cruising among the downtown regulars, their expressions mingling curiosity, distaste, alarm. We fetched drinks. Making small talk would have been strenuous … We left. He got into a Maserati the colour of arterial blood. The three of us followed in the rich girl’s Mercedes. Although almost brand-new, it was already dented and scarred by careless driving.
One reviewer said about Haden-Guest’s book The Last Party: Studio 54, Disco, and the Culture of the Night, published by William Morrow & Co.,[7]
British socialite and writer Anthony Haden-Guest has been a champion party-goer for more than 30 years. There are few people more qualified to lead a reader, as he does in The Last Party, past the velvet ropes and doorman and into the tornado of 1970s disco, drug excess, and excessive sex that was Studio 54. Unlike some of his contemporaries whose memories are dulled by years of hard living, Haden-Guest seems to actually recall many of his experiences at Studio. His book is therefore part personal memoir, part reportage.
Haden-Guest was a guest on Charlie Rose[8] while promoting his book True Colors: The Real Life of the Art World, published by Grove Atlantic.
Personality[edit]
Haden-Guest is known for being humorously irreverent, as seen in the following quote on Gawker.com:[9]
The massive streak of Puritanism in America has reasserted itself, especially amongst liberals. When I moved to New York there were still a bunch of good writers, often half-drunk, but still very good writers. That doesn’t exist any more. Where do they go? They probably go and teach at Bard.
In response to a suggestion that Peter Fallow in the Tom Wolfe novel The Bonfire of the Vanities (1987) was based on British expatriate journalist Christopher Hitchens, Hitchens said that Haden-Guest was a more likely candidate. A website maintained by the University of Kent cites Haden-Guest as the inspiration for Fallow.[2]
Once known for his late-night antics, Haden-Guest was named the winner of Spy magazine’s “Iron Man Decathlon” in 1988 and 1989.
Peter Haden-Guest, 4th Baron Haden-Guest
Peter Albert Michael Haden-Guest, 4th Baron Haden-Guest (29 August 1913 – 8 April 1996), was a British United Nations diplomat and member of the British House of Lords. A dancer and choreographer who performed as Peter Michael with the Markova-Dolin Ballet, Ballet Divertissement, Ballet Theatre, Ballet Joos, and the Repertory Dance Theatre from 1935 until 1945, Haden-Guest was a United Nations official from 1946 to 1972.[1] He inherited his title in 1987.
Haden-Guest was the third son of Leslie Haden-Guest, 1st Baron Haden-Guest and Muriel Carmel (née Goldsmid), daughter of Albert Goldsmid (Muriel was the 1st Baron’s second wife). Peter Haden-Guest’s father was a convert to Judaism who had later “renounced” the religion.[2][3][4] Haden-Guest’s maternal grandparents were both converts to Judaism, though both were of partial Jewish ancestry.[5] Haden-Guest was an atheist.[6]
Haden-Guest was married twice, his wives being:
- Elisabeth Wolpert (née Louise Ruth Wolpert, 1910—2002), a German-born writer and socialite better known as Elisabeth Furse; she and Peter Haden-Guest married in 1939 and divorced in 1945. They had one child, Anthony Haden-Guest (2 February 1937—)
- Jean Pauline Hindes, whom he married in 1945. They had three children: Christopher (1948—), Nicholas (1951—), and Elissa (1953—).
Upon his death, Lord Haden-Guest was succeeded by his son Christopher, an actor who is married to the actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Lord Haden-Guest’s eldest son, New York journalist Anthony Haden-Guest, was born before his parents were married and was thus ineligible for the title.
Wallis, Duchess of Windsor (born Bessie Wallis Warfield; 19 June 1896[1] – 24 April 1986), commonly known by her second married name of Wallis Simpson and previously as Wallis Spencer, was an American socialite whose intended marriage to King Edward VIII caused him to abdicate his throne.
Wallis’s father died shortly after her birth and she and her widowed mother were partly supported by their wealthier relatives. Her first marriage, to U.S. naval officer Win Spencer, was punctuated by periods of separation and eventually ended in divorce. In 1931, during her second marriage, to Ernest Simpson, she met Edward, then Prince of Wales. Five years later, after Edward’s accession as King of the United Kingdom, Wallis divorced her second husband to marry Edward.
The King’s desire to marry a woman who had two living ex-husbands threatened to cause a constitutional crisis in the United Kingdom and the Dominions, and ultimately led to his abdication in December 1936 to marry “the woman I love”.[2] After abdicating, the former king was created Duke of Windsor by his brother and successor, King George VI. Edward married Wallis six months later, after which she was formally known as the Duchess of Windsor, without the style “Her Royal Highness“. She was instead styled as “Her Grace“, a style normally reserved for non-royal dukes and duchesses.
Before, during, and after the Second World War, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor were suspected by many in government and society of being Nazi sympathisers. In 1937, they visited Germany and met Adolf Hitler. In 1940, the Duke was appointed governor of the Bahamas, and the couple moved to the islands until he relinquished the office in 1945. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Duke and Duchess shuttled between Europe and the United States living a life of leisure as society celebrities. After the Duke’s death in 1972, the Duchess lived in seclusion and was rarely seen in public. Her private life has been a source of much speculation, and she remains a controversial figure in British history.

The estate given by the nation to Marlborough for the new palace was the manor of Woodstock, sometimes called the Palace of Woodstock, which had been a royal demesne, in reality little more than a deer park. Legend has obscured the manor’s origins. King Henry I enclosed the park to contain the deer. Henry II housed his mistress Rosamund Clifford (sometimes known as “Fair Rosamund”) there in a “bower and labyrinth”; a spring where she is said to have bathed remains, named after her. It seems the unostentatious hunting lodge was rebuilt many times
The Spencer family is one of Britain’s most illustrious aristocratic families. This noble family descended in the male line from Henry Spencer, claimed to be a descendant of the cadet branch of the ancient House Le Despencer (died c. 1478), male-line ancestor of the Earls of Sunderland, the Dukes of Marlborough, and the Earls Spencer. Two prominent members of the family were Winston Churchill and Diana, Princess of Wales.
The Spencers later joined the Churchills upon the marriage of Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland and Lady Anne Churchill, daughter of the most celebrated Duke of Marlborough. From them descends the current line of the Spencer family which was divided into two branches. The senior line are currently the ducal line of the Spencer family who holds the Dukedom of Marlborough. The 5th Duke of Marlborough later changed their surname to Spencer-Churchill to emphasize their descent from the first duke. The junior line are currently the comital branch of the family who holds the title Earl Spencer.
The comital branch of the Spencer family can trace their ancestry to most of Britain’s nobility as well as to most of Europe’s royal houses. The Spencers are direct descendants albeit illegitimate of the House of Stuart, with the family boasting at-least five line of direct descendancy from the Stuarts, and from them, the Spencers can trace their ancestry to other royal houses such as the Bourbons, the Medicis, the Wittelsbachs, the Hanovers, the Sforzas, and the Habsburgs. More-so, the Spencers are one of the very few British noble families to be the heirs body of a once sovereign family, being the senior female-line descendants of John Churchill, the once sovereign Prince of Mindelheim.

The House of Windsor has been teetering on its weak foundation due to the world looking at the death of Princess Diana. Putting Kate Duchess of Cambridge next to Diana, is problematic for many reasons. However, when you put these three royal woman next to one another, and add the New York History of the Brevoort, Macomb, and Jerome families, then, it is easy declare Diana and her Sons, an Honorary Sovereigns of Detroit and New York. Make it so!
Above is the Chateau de Navarre owned by a woman who claimed she descends Robert de Navarre and the Navarre Royal Line that descends from Marguerite de Navarre ‘The Mother of the Renaissance’ . This lineage is contested, Many are. Should the ancestors of Robert Brevoort be declared delusional – and insane? I will be laying down the blueprint for a New Renaissance between Britain and the United States that will carry forth the Vision of Winston Churchill, and Franklin Delanore Roosevelt, the Democrat.
The home of Alexander Macomb was the first White House. We see a stylized painting of the interior of this home located on 39 Broadway. There is an arch that is symbolic of the Washington Square Arch, from where Artists Actors declared Greenwich Village a Sovereign Nation. Let us install a statue of Diana, there. Another statue of the Princess will be put on Dark Island.

The Spencer family is one of Britain’s preeminent aristocratic families. Over time, several family members have been made knights, baronets, and peers. Hereditary titles held by the Spencers include the dukedom of Marlborough, the earldoms of Sunderland and Spencer, and the Churchill viscountcy. Two prominent members of the family during the 20th century were Sir Winston Churchill and Diana, Princess of Wales.

Rosalie Ritz and Upstairs Art Association
Posted on December 9, 2014 by Royal Rosamond Press

I found Rosalie Ritz before her huge easel in and old Victorian office building on Broadway in downtown Oakland. I had come to get some more brass fittings from the old bait and tackle shop, but, they had moved. I was the only model boat sailor in the East Bay. I had rigged a automatic tacking device on my catamaran that would eventually bring it to the edge of the unused model boat lagoon that was built by the WPA located in Berkley’s Aquatic Park. It was all mine, now. The WPA had built Jaunita Miller’s Woodminster Theater and Water Wonder. I made my model at the time Altamont was being lauded as the West Coast Woodstock. My friend Peter Shapiro asked me if I was going and I told him it is going to be a disaster. I am a prophet.
I was moving away from the hippie scene, and was finding unique things to do, by myself. Exploring Old Oakland was now my cup of tea. Who was this ‘Mad Woman’? Why is she here? Obviously she is crazy, and thus I liked her instantly. In fifteen minutes, Rosalie has set the hook, and I am being reeled in to the most mad cap Alice in Wonderland scene I have ever been a part of. It would end with Ms. Ritz locking the board of directors of the Upstairs Art Association in a antique room, pulling the fire alarm, and calling the police.
Rosy was a one woman riot who could not understand why these crazy-ass black artists she surrounded herself with, were not on the front page at least once a week. Rosalie had become famous for her courtroom sketches of extremely radical people, and things began to go wrong when we disappointed her, let her down, exhibited over and over again we did not have the right stuff. This woman was a Publicity Stunt. On Halloween Eve, she convinced the television stations to cover an ancient couple from outer space who were going to take thirty UAA artists home to their planet.
After I told Ritz who my sister was, and my mother worked with the woman that headed California’s National Endowment for the Arts, I was made General Manager and put in charge of a painting crew whose job was to restore these vintage offices with a ornate fireplaces in each one. When we put paint stripper on them, we exposed hand-painted tiles from Europe.
One day I walk in wearing an old surplus Norwegian army cap that I found in the greatest surplus store in the world once found on Market Street in San Francisco. It looked a barrette. It had some letters on it. I think they were RNA. One look at it, and Ritz goes nuts.
“Where did you get that hat!” Rosalie asks as she yanks it off my head.
“In a surplus store in San Francis…..”
“How much did it cost?” she shouts, as she puts it on.
“A dolla……”
“Are there more!”
“There’s a whole big box…..”
Rosalie runs for her purse and hands me a twenty dollar bill and some money for BART. In two hours we are going to have a big social event at the old train station. Walter Dallas and his troupe of actors is going to put on a skit. No sooner do I walk in the door, then Ms. Ritz has grabbed a handful of these foreign army hats, and I insisting these black actors wear them.
Rosalie did the courtroom sketches for Pattie Hurst’s trial, Angela Davis of the Black Panthers. Just then, the crème de la crème of Oakland Society start coming through the door in their tuxedos. I took at the startled look on their faces. Uh-oh! I could see where this was going. Two of my friends who belonged to the Symbionese Liberation Army had been questioned by the FBI. Then, there is a loud “BANG!” as the balloon this beautiful black thespian was blowing up, got lose, hit the ceiling, and exploded! Let the DISASTER MOVIE….begin!
Here are some images Rosalie rendered of the Upstairs Art Association.

Rosalie Ritz (August 6, 1923 – April 18, 2008),[1] born Rosalie Jane Mislove in Racine, Wisconsin, was an award-winning journalist and courtroom artist who covered major United States trials in the 1960s through the 1990s. She worked with both CBS and Associated Press, and was presented with the Associated Press Award for Excellence in 1972.
The seventh of ten children, Ritz showed artistic talent at an early age. She attended the Layton School of Art, married World War II navy veteran and athlete, Erwin Ritz in 1946 and is the mother of four children: Barbara Bray, Sandra Ritz, Terry Leach and The Environmentalist Publisher and Managing Editor, Janet Ritz.
Early career[edit]
After her marriage to Erwin Ritz in 1946, Ritz moved from Milwaukee, WI, where she grew up, to Washington DC. There, she worked with a group of artists in Georgetown. During this time, several of Ritz’s selected works (oil paintings) won places in national juried shows at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian, and received an honorable mention at the Flower Gallery.
It was during these years in Washington DC, that Ritz first covered US Senate and US Congressional hearings, including the McCarthy Hearings, where cameras were barred. Ritz worked under contract for the Washington Post, CBS, Public TV, and the Associated Press. Selected drawings appeared in the Washington Post from these hearings.
Courtroom Art[edit]
In 1966, at the height of the Haight Ashbury counter-culture era, Ritz moved with her family to the San Francisco Bay Area. Ritz’s sketches of the street scenes were published in the City Magazine and the San Francisco Examiner. Her work in Washington DC brought her to the attention of the local public television station KQED. From there, she began a career covering trials for the local CBS outlet, (KPIX) and for the Associated Press. This included the Patty Hearst trial, the Sirhan Sirhan trial, the Charles Manson trial, the trials of the Black Panthers, including Huey Newton, Eldridge Cleaver and David Hilliard, the trials of Angela Davis and Ruchell Magee, and the trials of the Soledad Brothers, the San Quentin Six, Mass Murderer Juan Corona, John Linley Frazier, the Presidio Mutiny Court-Martial at Fort Ord, the Billy Dean Smith Court-Martial, Inez Garcia (second trial), Bill and Emily Harris (Symbionese Liberation Army), Russell Little and Joseph Remiro (Murder of Marcus Foster/Symbionese Liberation Army), Wendy Yoshimura, Camarillo State Hospital Grand Jury Hearings, the Hell’s Angels, Alioto-Look Magazine Libel Trial, Alioto Conflict of Interest Trial, the Bonanno Brothers, Stephanie Kline, Larry Layton, Dan White, San Francisco Proposition Hearings, Sara Jane Moore, and Daniel Ellsberg and Anthony Russo/Pentagon Papers.[2]
While covering these trials, Ritz worked with several journalists, including the late New York Daily News reporter Theo Wilson, Associated Press senior trial reporter and special correspondent, Linda Deutsch, and Associated Press chief United Nations correspondent, Edie Lederer.
Ritz’s courtroom drawings of the Angela Davis trial were featured in the 2012 documentary, Free Angela and All Political Prisoners.[3]
Ritz continued to cover trials through the early 1980s. In the 1990s, the Associated Press brought Ritz out of retirement to cover the O.J. Simpson civil trial.
Shows and Exhibitions[edit]
Early in Ritz’s career, selected works (oil paintings) went on display at national juried shows at Corcoran Gallery of Art and at the Smithsonian.
During her years as a Courtroom Artist, Ritz’s sketches appeared in numerous publications, including the Washington Post and various Associated Press affiliates. Ritz’s sketches were also used on CBS news broadcasts and other media outlets.
In 1993, Ritz donated 1,837 courtroom drawings to the UC Berkeley Bancroft Library. Guide to Rosalie Ritz’s courtroom drawings 1968-1982 – Online Archive of California
In 2005, the UC Berkeley Art Museum held an exposition of Ritz’s sketches.
Later that year, the California Senate followed up with an exposition of Ritz’s selected works.
Death[edit]
Rosalie Ritz died in California on April 18, 2008, nine months after the passing of her husband of 61 years, Erwin Ritz. She is survived by four children, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.[4]

Not Quite Not A Rose

“Artist Heide Hatry understands the fundamental human desire to have the dead with us always – as image, as memory, as physical remnant.”
Several days ago Saint C described to me what she considered a “DEATH CULT”. She had confronted a woman three months ago, who tried to kiss Stefan in a European way. She karate chopped her wrist. This woman is Heidi Hatry. Later, When Heidi saw Chris again, she threw her hands up – in surrender. Why then did she try to kiss Stefan again? Christine moved in! She shoved Heidi’s face away. She looked startled. Heidi said it was customary to kiss people like this in Europe.
“This isn’t Europe! This is America! We have manners!”
“I have manners!” Heidi declared.
“No you don’t!”
Heidi has made a name for herself for her rude and impertinent art, that is a slap in the face to serious artists, and lovers of art. Christine is accusing Heidi of being CHEEKY. She told me she was going to confront Heidi – and fight for her man! Now, this is High Art!
adjective: impertinent
- 1.not showing proper respect; rude.”an impertinent question”
synonyms:rude, insolent, impolite, ill-mannered, bad-mannered, uncivil, discourteous, disrespectful; Moreimpudent, cheeky, pert, audacious, bold, brazen, brash, presumptuous, forward;tactless, undiplomatic;informalsaucy, sassy, smart-alecky“impertinent remarks”antonyms:polite - 2.formalnot pertinent to a particular matter; irrelevant.”talk of “rhetoric” and “strategy” is impertinent to this process”
Christine told me she was defending Stefan from evil spells. This is Grace Kelly getting off the train, and running back into town to – DEFEND HER MAN!
It is alleged Grace Kelly was involved with a Death Cult, as were members of the ROSEMONT family, who may be my kin. Heidi’s Declaration that she has removed Beauty from the Rose, and destroyed the Rose as a symbol of beauty – in the name of art – in her book ‘Not A Rose’ made me wonder if she know what she is doing, and, getting herself into! There are REAL DEAD BODIES wearing DEAD SKIN, in this one Heidi. Are you shocked? Has your comfort level been – challenged?
Saint C described this cult as escaped mental patients engaged in a macabre basket-weaving contest to see who can be the most C00-Coo. Heidi has given some very smart men and women PERMISSION to disregard the input of the Church in regards to dealing with IMMORTALITY – which involves being with the dead in the after-life! This is a SHOW-DOWN. Saint C delivered a Courtesy Warning……
“Don’t fuck with my man – or the dead!”
Who do the dead belong to, anyway? I hereby copyright all Dead People! The book that begs to be written is how ancient celtic women tried to cheat death, trick Mr. D up a tree in order to keep him from taking – their man. Best be safe than sorry, was Saint C’s reasoning. That corpse on a stick (the crucifixion) begs European Pagan Men to give up and surrender to the Slave Masters of Rome, who raped children they captured.
Is Heidi seeking commissions from those NEAR DEATH, she famous for doing portraits of DEAD PEOPLE in order to immortalize them? How like the black robed priest who appear at the foot of the bed, and after dismissing the family, he bend down and whispers;
“Give me your gold, or, burn in hell!”
Saint C compares Heidi to the Nazi Cultist that produced images of mounds of teeth containing gold fillings, and, mounds of cropped hair. Death is rendered into mounds of Cash! There is an American flag painted on human skin. From where did Heidi, and others, find permission to render these things? Where did they get the human skin? The key word is PERMISSION! How human beings come to own such ghoulish and murderous permission, is the stuff that real art and literature is about. Saint C made a stand against this Permission.
This far, and no further! Didn’t Hatry hear about the famous fight Saint C had with Brook McGowan that is now a traditional Art Happening presented by New York’s newest artist. A witness to this, came forth and kissed C’s hand. This is the new cultural high water mark and litmus test, that I suspect will catch on. The rarer the stamp, the more precious!
In the age of ‘Me Too’ why shouldn’t Artists and Writers construct the rules for TOUCHING. Let us end the age of ‘Anything Goes’.
‘You must fight for your bench!”
Heidi……………..retreated!
You are now in the Rosy Labyrinth. Prepare yourself for the Labyrinth Run!

| Ashes to ashes, ashes to art. Only Heide Hatry could have dared to confront (and collaborate with) eons of belief systems and taboos to produce these evocative portraits of mortality and its mirror image. Lucy R. Lippard (art critic, curator, activist)Artist Heide Hatry understands the fundamental human desire to have the dead with us always – as image, as memory, as physical remnant. Her portraits made from the ashes of the deceased are haunting modern-day relics, poignant to any viewer, virtually sacred to those who knew and loved the departed. Each is a compelling likeness, a personal shrine. Rainier Outraged By Scandalous TV Report That . . . Princess Grace Was A Sex-Cult Priestess Prince Rainier of Monaco is furiously denying an investigation that claims Princess Grace was a secret priestess in a bizarre sex cult! Grace joined the Order of the Solar Temple just months before her death in 1982, according to a blockbuster TV documentary. They say she stripped and underwent a sexual initiation ceremony -- and she handed over more than $9 million before she eventually turned against the cult's charismatic leader shortly before she died following a car accident. "Grace was a woman of many secrets," said TV producer David Cohen, who spent a year investigating the cult. "Her lovers are only one aspect of the story. She was an extremely religious woman -- and it was her search for spirituality that delivered her to the Order of the Solar Temple." Prince Rainier "is furious about these claims," a Monaco insider told The ENQUIRER. "He thinks it's all just sensational rubbish to grab TV ratings and a cheap shot at somebody who can't answer back," the insider said. "He's convinced it never happened, and he is sure she couldn't have given them so much money without him knowing. Prince Rainier is going to make sure this program is never shown in Monaco." The cult became notorious three years ago after 69 members in Canada and Europe died in an apparent mass suicide, which now is being probed as mass murder. According to the program, Grace was not alone among the European upper class duped by the Solar Temple. Many rich and powerful people in Monaco and Europe were lured to join and then conned out of money by cult leader Joseph di Mambro. They were told the Order gave them special access to God during ceremonies that involved part- Catholic, part-mystic mumbo jumbo. Di Mambro convinced his recruits he was in touch with 33 spiritual masters who watched over the world from the Himalayas. He also told followers that they were reincarnated from biblical figures or saints. Producers for the program -- to be aired in Britain this month -- say their evidence comes from interviews with the cult leader's chauffeur/security guard and an acupuncturist who stripped and prepared Grace for the initiation ceremony. When the Princess arrived at the ancient church in the South of France for the rite, she was "frightened and apprehensive" at first. But she was sexually aroused by the acupuncturist, then given a drugged drink before being told to lie on a huge round altar in the church's crypt during the ceremony. One of the cult's top leaders, Luc Jouret, then declared her a "High Priestess of the Order." She was asked to donate $10 million. She paid $9 million, but soon had second thoughts. Cohen said, "The notion of somebody as loved and respected as Princess Grace joining a cult -- after undergoing the sexually loaded initiation ceremony -- was hard to believe when we first stumbled across her secret two years ago." Despite Prince Rainier's strong denials, Cohen said he is convinced the story is true. Cohen claims Grace fought with di Mambro when she demanded her money back, threatening to expose him as a fraud. Then she died. "Her attitude frightened di Mambro," Cohen said. "It draws attention to the mysterious circumstances of her death." -- JOHN COOKE
The Rose Portal of the Eight Beauties
Posted on October 29, 2012 by Royal Rosamond Press

In the a tower of Arginy Castle, members of a neo-Templar group that is not the Solar Temple group, drew portals on the wall so that diseased Knights Templars could come through and reveal occult secrets and the whereabouts of the vast Templar treasure that was concealed long ago. The De Rosemont family was involved in several searches for this treasure. Jacques Breyer had formed a new Rosicrucian cosmology. The Solar Temple attached itself to the Arginy Knights of the Rose Cross, and allegedly committed mass suicides and murders so members can pass into another realm, perhaps travel to a distant star. Consider the suicides by the Heaven’s Gate cult.
When important truths and facts were concealed just after the death of my sister, Christine Rosamond Benton, I said in letters a cult was formed. It may not have been intentional, but, cults strive on secrets. This secret cult sucked in my daughter who at sixteen was involved in Scientology, along with their mother. I met with the leader of the west coast Scineltogists, and told her she was using Heather Hanons like a slave. In two months Heather has cut off all means to contact her, and has contacted Vicki Presco in order to strike up a relationship with her – knowing we are at odds over her account of how our sister died. Heather was a minor child, who was counting on my relationship with members of my family never being mended! Heather, and her family, are like maggots living in the terrible wound death often leaves in a family. I suspect Heather’s aunt, Linda Comstock, and her attorney husband, were instructing Heather on how to handle me, how to own power over me – for starters!
For the reason I may never see my grandson again, I am bid to put a Time capsule, a Portal, for him and his children to find me, his grandfather. This is my ineage. Tyler Hunt’s father never wanted him, and his father, disowned Ryan Hunt.
Some people believe members of the Solar Temple were murdered. I tend to concur for the reason several babies were demonized and butchered. This looks like someone, or a group of people, were trying to demonize and discredit the Solar Temple. If true, who is that group? It is as if monsters came through portals all over the world, and slay these people whose bodies were placed in a star formation, and burned.

Chateau d’Arginy & Secret of the Knights Templar
A friend of mine just told me about a very cool chateau in Charentay, not too far from Lyon. I visited it and have become rather obsessed about it.
Gorgeous, n’est-ce pas?
You can click here to read more about it in English and see some amazing photos. (I google translated the website for you, so the text is a little funky.)
The castle sits upon an ancient salt mine from the time of the Gauls. A Roman lieutenant named Arginusae built a small town upon the site, hence the castle’s name, Arginy.
In the 11th century, a castle with three towers and a donjon, or house, was built upon the site. The castle has been lived in by noble families, non-stop (With perhaps an exception during the French Revolution), since its creation. Much of the castle we see today was constructed in 1533.
It is said that the castle contains a treasure of the Knights Templar. This would most likely be secret writings. Documents, which if reveled today, would knock the Catholic church on its behind. Kind of like the Da Vinci Code ….
People have been hunting for this treasure since the 15th century. (The treasure would have been from the 13th century when Pope Innocent III launched a campaign to exterminate all Cathars and Templar Knights in 1208–such an innocent guy. The treasure was apparently later transported to a “place of safety”, le Chateau d’Arginy?)
Each time people dig for the treasure, there is a mortal accident, someones head gets crushed. In 1883, a man’s foot was crushed as he descended into a vertical gallery. In 1914, Count Pierre de Rosemont, the owner, was given a “spiritual order” to stop looking for the treasure. People believe that he may have found the sarcophagus of the Knight Templar who was buried in an underground chamber and who is responsible for writing mystical symbols on the wall of the burial chamber. (Click here for photos of the symbols)
In 1953, a team of occultists from the l’ordre souverain du Temple solaire, or Sovereign Order of the Solar Temple were called in by the owner, Jacques de Rosement. They declared that there are 11 ghosts of the Knights Templar guarding a treasure.
Several books have been written on the chateau d’Arginy, most notably Time out of Time by Gabrielle Carmi.
The current owners are not keen on people visiting. Please respect their wish for privacy if you decide to visit the area.

Voila! Gros bisous des château hanté et a demain.
According to “Peronnik” (a pseudonym of temple member Robert Chabrier) in his book, “Pourquoi la Résurgence de l’Ordre du Temple? Tome Premier: Le Corps” (“Why a Revival of the Order of the Solar Temple? Vol. One: The Body”) 1975, pp. 147–149 [1], the aims of the Order of the Solar Temple included: establishing “correct notions of authority and power in the world”; an affirmation of the primacy of the spiritual over the temporal; assisting humanity through a great “transition”; preparing for the Second Coming of Jesus as a solar god-king; and furthering a unification of all Christian churches and Islam. The group reportedly drew some inspiration for its teachings from British occultist Aleister Crowley, who headed the Order of Eastern Temple from 1923 until his death in 1947, and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a 19th century Rosicrucian Order Crowley belonged to briefly.[2] Both occult groups had a grade system somewhat similar to the Solar Temple. Another Rosicrucian group, the Rosicrucian Fellowship headed by Max Heindel, also mentioned Rosicrucians worship Christ as “The Solar Logos” (Rays from the Cross Magazine, June, 1933), although this is not traditional Christian doctrine.
There were Solar Temple lodges in Morin Heights and Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade, Quebec, Canada, as well as in Australia, Switzerland, Martinique and other countries. The Temple’s activities were a mix of early Protestant Christianity and New Age philosophy using variously adapted Freemason rituals. Jouret was interested in attractive, wealthy and influential members, and it was reputed that several affluent Europeans were secret members of the group..
[edit] Structure
According to the literature of the OTS, the central authority was the Synarchy of the Temple, whose membership was secret. Its top 33 members were known as the Elder Brothers of the Rosy Cross (an alternative name for the Rosicrucians), and were headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland. The Council of the Order formed Lodges which were run by a Regional Commander and three Elders. Progression in the Order was by levels and grades, with three grades per level – the levels being The Brothers of Parvis, The Knights of the Alliance and the Brothers of the Ancient Times in ascending order. There were many organizations associated with the OTS including the International Archedia Sciences and Tradition, Archedia Clubs, Menta Clubs, Agata Clubs and Atlanta Clubs, all of which offered the teachings of Luc Jouret both to the general public and privately to OTS members. The Lodges had altars, rituals and costumes. Members were initiated at each stage of advancement in ceremonies which included expensive purchases, jewellery, costumes, regalia, and the payment of initiation fees. During ceremonies, members wore Crusader-type robes and were to hold in awe a sword which Di Mambro said was an authentic Templar artifact, given to him a thousand years ago in a previous life.
[edit] Mass murders and suicides
In October 1994 Tony Dutoit’s infant son (Emmanuel Dutoit), aged three months, was killed at the group’s centre in Morin Heights, Quebec. The baby had been stabbed repeatedly with a wooden stake. It is believed that Di Mambro ordered the murder, because he identified the baby as the Anti-Christ described in the Bible. He believed that the Anti-Christ was born into the order to prevent Di Mambro from succeeding in his spiritual aim.
A few days later, Di Mambro and twelve followers performed a ritual Last Supper. A few days after that, apparent mass suicides and murders were conducted at Cheiry and Salvan, two villages in Western Switzerland, and at Morin Heights — 15 inner circle members committed suicide with poison, 30 were killed by bullets or smothering, and 8 others were killed by other causes. In Switzerland, many of the victims were found in a secret underground chapel lined with mirrors and other items of Templar symbolism. The bodies were dressed in the order’s ceremonial robes and were in a circle, feet together, heads outward, most with plastic bags tied over their heads; they had each been shot in the head. It is believed that the plastic bags were a symbol of the ecological disaster that would befall the human race after the OTS members moved on to Sirius. It is also believed that these bags were used as part of the OTS rituals, and that members would have voluntarily worn them without being placed under duress. There was also evidence that many of the victims in Switzerland were drugged before they were shot. Other victims were found in three ski chalets; several dead children were lying together. The tragedy was discovered when officers rushed to the sites to fight the fires which had been ignited by remote-control devices. Farewell letters left by the believers stated that they believed they were leaving to escape the “hypocrisies and oppression of this world.”
A mayor, a journalist, a civil servant and a sales manager were found among the dead in Switzerland. Records seized by the Quebec police showed that some members had personally donated over $1 million to the group’s leader Joseph Di Mambro. There was also another attempted mass suicide of the remaining members which was thwarted in the late 1990s[citation needed]. All the suicide/murders and attempts occurred around the dates of the equinoxes and solstices in some relation to the beliefs of the group.
Another massacre related to the OTS took place during the night between the 15 and 16 December 1995. On 23 December 1995, 16 bodies were discovered in a star-formation in the Vercors region in France. It was found later that two of them shot the others and then committed suicide by firearm and immolation.
On the morning of March 23, 1997, five members of the OTS took their own lives in Saint-Casimir, Quebec. A small house exploded into flames, leaving behind five charred bodies for the police to pull from the rubble. Three teenagers aged 13, 14 and 16, the children of one of the couples that died in the fire, were discovered in a shed behind the house, alive but heavily drugged.
Michael Tabachnik, an internationally renowned Swiss musician and conductor, was arrested as a leader of the Solar Temple in the late 1990s. He was indicted for “participation in a criminal organization,” and murder. He came to trial in Grenoble, France during the spring of 2001 and was acquitted. French prosecutors appealed the verdict and an appellate court ordered a second trial beginning October 24, 2006. He was again cleared less than two months later on December 20.[3]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ1O1vb9AUU

Heide Hatry Not a Rose

I only know of Heide Hatry through her pigskin portraits of people. They were fascinating and intriguing but also weird and a little bit ugly. Her new work at Stux Gallery in New York is delicate and very beautiful, but still gross! Those delicate looking flowers are actually dead animal parts.
Fish innards, pig tongues, lobster gills, duck tongues, cow vaginas, sheep cocks, clams, deer lips, squid bodies, and the list goes on. All used to fashion these beautiful little creations below.

This little beauty above is made using duck tongues and the stomach of a bull.

This one is still beautiful but you sense there’s something not quite right. And you would be right to sense that as the flowers are made using cicade legs and deer lips.

Who would have thought pig tongues and lobster antennae could look so good?

And last one, pigs ears. The artist grew up on a pig farm in Germany. She would have had a ready supply of art materials growing up ![]()
The artist says..
“The biological and social purpose of even the demurest flower is seduction. My flowers are also intended to seduce, but only to seduce the unthinking into thought and the thinking into imagining. In creating images of beautiful flowers from animal parts that most of us would find impossible to consume (even though we eat the flesh of those very same animals, most of them victims of mechanized mass slaughter) without a thought. I want subtly to remind my viewer that his or her every act of mindless consumption is an abdication of our moral and ethical substance, to arouse reflection where there had been mere reflex. We want to be seduced by beauty, to permit difficult questions to remain lingering unasked, hidden behind its veil.”
Heide Hatry’s “Not a Rose” is showing at the Stux Gallery in New York but you have to be quick as the exhibition closes on the 3rd of July. You can see more of her work from this series at the Stux Gallery website or the artist has a website here.
Heide Hatry‘s neo-conceptual photographs in “Not a Rose“ look like your standard calendar-worthy nature photography.
But if you think you are looking at a beautiful flower in bloom, think again. You’re actually staring at a cow’s vagina and a sheep’s penis, and you cannot un-see it.

In Hatry’s secret-filled garden, flowers are replaced with the flesh and sex organs of deceased animals. The scrubbed animal parts blend in surprisingly well with the plant-filled backdrop. Although the image of raw flesh can almost pass for that of a pansy, we imagine the accompanying scent would be telling. The stark juxtaposition of bloom and decay presents a dark take on the ephemeral nature of life — whether plant or animal.
Hatry’s work pins our aesthetic taste against our ethical judgment, hyperbolizing the ways in which sex organs can simultaneously attract and repulse. Her fleshy flowers suggest that perhaps Mother Nature’s most beloved eye candy is not as tame as it first appears. Whether you fall for Hatry’s non-vegan garden or would prefer your roses organ-free, we guarantee you’ll never look at a flower the same way again.
“Not A Rose” runs from May 23 until June 22, 2013 at Stux Gallery in New York. For another interpretation on lewd flowers check out Christopher Beane’s orchid orgies
