Is God Dead – Again?

If the Orthodox Jews of Israel get their way, then all Israeli citizens will be required to read the Torah.

The Jews have been accused of worshipping four gods in one in regards to the Tetragrammaton. Evangelical Senators and Congressman have given religious permission for Right-wing Jews to do what they please. Trump and Netanyahu should be in prison. Is God – dead?

NYLiberalStateOfMind: A Different Take On Church and State

JERUSALEM, July 26 (Reuters) – Israeli army reservist Avishai Cohen says his decision to stop reporting for duty was perhaps the hardest of his life. But he is ready to face the consequences, including possible jail time, as he protests against moves to limit the judiciary’s authority.

He is one of a growing number of reservists who have said they will stop serving in protest at steps by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to make changes to the judiciary, seeing a threat to Israel’s democracy.

Jewish Groups React to Passage of “Reasonableness” Judicial Reform Bill

Multiple American Jewish groups criticized the Israeli government’s passage of a judicial reform that limits the Supreme Court’s ability to strike down government decisions based on the “reasonableness” standard.

The bill passed in the Knesset 64-0, with the opposition boycotting the vote altogether. Protests have been raging across Israel over the bill and the ruling coalition’s broader push for judicial reform; some military reservists even said after the July 24 bill passed that they would no longer voluntarily serve in the military to protest the bill.

Various Jewish groups expressed concern that the bill passed without a “broad consensus” in the country.

“We are deeply disappointed that the Israeli government passed the controversial Reasonableness Bill, failing to heed the call of President Herzog and others to reach a compromise rooted in a broad societal consensus,” the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said in a statement. “As we have previously said, this initiative and other judicial overhaul proposals could weaken Israeli democracy and harm Israel’s founding principles as laid out in the Declaration of Independence. The failure to reach a compromise has led to unprecedented divisions within Israeli society, threatening both the country’s social cohesion, economic well-being and, according to experts, its security preparedness.” They later added: “We continue to believe that in this historic moment, all Israeli political leaders should demonstrate courage and willingness to compromise and make concessions. There is no legislation that is more important than the well-being of the Israeli society. We strongly urge the Israeli government to refrain from moving additional judicial overhaul bills forward and focus instead on working together with Israeli civil leadership to build consensus and cohesion aimed at healing the wounds within Israeli society.”

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) expressed their “profound disappointment” in a similar statement. “The new law was pushed through unilaterally by the governing coalition amid deepening divisions in Israeli society as evidenced by the hundreds of thousands of Israelis who have taken to the streets,” the AJC said. “Of particular concern to AJC, the continued effort to press forward on judicial reform rather than seeking compromise has sown discord within the Israeli Defense Forces at a time of elevated threats to the Jewish homeland and has strained the vital relationship between Israel and Diaspora Jewry. While many Israelis agree that some reform of Israel’s judicial system is warranted, AJC has consistently maintained that reform to the institutions core to Israeli democracy should only be adopted on the basis of the broadest possible consensus. That is why we have been strongly supportive of President Herzog’s efforts to find compromise. President Herzog’s successful visit to the United States last week reminded us that a thoughtful and pragmatic approach can gain support across political lines.”

Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish American Organizations Chair Harriet P. Schleifer and CEO William Daroff said in a statement, “We must remember the dangers that discord and division can pose to the Jewish people. We call on Israel’s leaders to seek compromise and unity. Responsible political actors must ease tensions that have run dangerously high. The Conference of Presidents will always advocate in support of the bilateral relationship between the United States and Israel, which is crucial to the security and well-being of both nations. Israel is a Jewish and democratic state. Both countries benefit immeasurably from this strategic partnership and abiding friendship, and will continue to do so because of our fundamental bonds and common interests.”

The European Leadership Network (ELNET) tweeted, “ELNET, being apolitical and non-partisan, is deeply concerned about the ramifications of this vote and has called upon the government to reach a broad national consensus on constitutional changes. ELNET believes both mutual interests and common democratic values are the basis for relations between Israel and Europe. ELNET will carefully monitor developments moving forward.”

But they vowed, if God should favour them with any issue, they would devote it to the service of the Lord; on which account they went at every feast in the year to the temple of the Lord 1

When I began to study the Torah in 1988, I would close my eyes and find myself walking on McClure’s Beach. I would come to the cave my friends and I had stood in back in 1965. The sun is setting. At the back of the cave is the Tree of Life – filled with the cosmos! I would sit before it in the sand that sparkled like the Milky Way. Then, they came, the Monsters After The Light. I and God put up a barrier at both ends of the beach. In horror I watched them pile up against this Glass of God, their faces twisted, and full of grotesque lust for want of  The Light of God. I identified these creatures as evangelical leaders who were entering politics, they coming in the back door to feed on the Tree of Life and grow powerful. As a Nazarite after Samson and John the Baptist, I have kept them at bay.

Above are the images of Joaquim and Anna holding the infant Mary, mother of Jesus. They have taken the Oath of the Nazarite because Anna was barren and could not conceive. Her womb had been shut, and is opened by God. This is the definition of ‘Virgin Birth’. This has nothing to do with the breaking of hymen. Joseph will have intercourse with Joaquim’s daughter, but, her womb has been shut – as was her cousin’s – Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. What we have here is a lineage of Nazarites! I am a Nazarite.

Today is Easter Sunday. I will not hear from any member of my family. Yesterday I found a family art show I was not invited to. It was held by Stacey Simons-Pierrot who titles herself “custodian”. She reads from her ghost writers book ‘The Book of Drunks’ by Julie Lynch ‘The Parasite’. My niece, Drew Benton was there. She did not attend her mother’s funeral. Vicki Presco told me she has no fond feelings for Christine Rosamond, whose name is misspelled. To her credit, Drew shows her art for the first stunt. But, in my opinion, she should be hooked up to a Lie Detector and quizzed about her mother’s death. Why haven’t we heard her account? Is she protecting her late father, Garth Benton – who may have dropped Drew off at Rocky Point?

Was my daughter, Heater Hanson, there? She is her mother’s Immaculate Conception born to meet Rosamund one day, and inherit the gauntlet of Fame. Heather un-born me when she disappeared from my life when she was seventeen so she could be with my family. She told my aunt that her unborn child was going o be name after her Lily-Rose. All this is not supposed to hurt me, because I am not fully human. They believe I lost my humanity when I got caught up in a sibling rivalry with a word famous – female artist. Yesterday I wrote an open letter to Michael Dundon, where I set the record straight. These Liars break the Oath of the Nazarite by getting near a dead body, and by having the fake custodian read drunken stories to Christine’s and my daughter.

I have been elected by their exclusion!

She shall, according to your vow, be devoted to the Lord from her infancy, and be filled with the Holy Ghost from her mother’s womb; 3

11 She shall neither eat nor drink anything which is unclean, nor shall her conversation be without among the common people, but in the temple of the Lord; that so she may not fall under any slander or suspicion of what is bad.

Several days ago I told Marilyn about seeing a flying saucer on the horizon of the sea – after I saw God. He was sitting on a rock with one foot in the water, and the other on the sand. This ship is His Ark. He is coming to take His Children home. The first to board will be my Foundling-Child, Amy Sargent, who called me “Daddy” and wished I was in her home for Easter Sunday Dinner. I was not going to reveal anything this day, until she called me a father. I am no longer an orphan!

The Fatherhood of Joaquin, his been rubbed out, disappeared, all but forgotten. This morning, The Father of Mary Rose of the Word’…….came out if his cave! The countdown has begun! My Zulu Nazarites gather on the Mount to behold Elijah and his Chariot of Fire. Until the Ninth Judge is chosen, God Himself fills the vacancy! Repent!

Elisha said, “Let me have twice your spirit.”

10 Elijah said, “You’ve made a difficult request. If you can see me when I’m taken from you, then it will be yours. If you don’t see me, it won’t happen.”

11 They were walking along, talking, when suddenly a fiery chariot and fiery horses appeared and separated the two of them. Then Elijah went to heaven in a windstorm.

12 Elisha was watching, and he cried out, “Oh, my father, my father! Israel’s chariots and its riders!” When he could no longer see him, Elisha took hold of his clothes and ripped them in two.

It is said that the late founder of the Shembe movement was alone on a hillside when struck down by lightning. The Voice of the Lord thundered the command: “Go south!”. Isaiah Shembe was carried, unconscious, to his hut. He was paralysed, and taken for dead. The women of his village wailed and ululated in hysterical fear.
Sangomas and witchdoctors were summoned, and rituals performed to revive Shembe. When he came to, he told his followers that he was among spirits who had instructed him to go south. He duly left on his pilgrimage, carrying his Bible, blanket, stick and precious gifts from his followers.

Isaiah Mloyiswa Mdliwamafa Shembe (c.1865[1][2]– 2 May 1935), was the founder of the Ibandla lamaNazarethaSouth Africa, which was the largest African-initiated church in Africa during his lifetime.[3] A self-styled prophet who claimed to have been sent directly by God, Shembe started his religious career as an itinerant evangelist and faith healer in 1910. Within ten years he had built up a large following in Natal with dozens of congregations across the province. Although the Nazarites were eventually eclipsed in size by several other Zionist Churches, the Nazarite church eventually had well over one million members before it began to splinter into competing groups in the 1980s.

THE blessed and ever glorious Virgin Mary, sprung from the royal race and family of David, was born in the city of Nazareth, and educated at Jerusalem, in the temple of the Lord.

2 Her father’s name was Joachim, and her mother’s Anna. The family of her father was of Galilee and the city of Nazareth. The family of her mother was of Bethlehem.

3 Their lives were plain and right in the sight of the Lord, pious and faultless before men. For they divided all their substance into three parts:

4 One of which they devoted

p. 18

to the temple and officers of the temple; another they distributed among strangers, and persons in poor circumstances; and the third they reserved for themselves and the uses of their own family.

5 In this manner they lived for about twenty years chastely, in the favour of God, and the esteem of men, without any children.

6 But they vowed, if God should favour them with any issue, they would devote it to the service of the Lord; on which account they went at every feast in the year to the temple of the Lord 1

7 ¶ And it came to pass, that when the feast of the dedication drew near, Joachim, with some others of his tribe, went up to Jerusalem, and at that time, Issachar was high-priest;

8 Who, when he saw Joachim along with the rest of his neighbours, bringing his offering, despised both him and his offerings, and asked him,

9 Why he, who had no children, would presume to appear among those who had? Adding, that his offerings could never be acceptable to God, who was

judged by him unworthy to have children; the Scripture having said, Cursed is every one who shall not beget a male in Israel.

10. He further said, that he ought first to be free from that curse by begetting some issue, and then come with his offerings into the presence of God.

11 But Joachim being much confounded with the shame of such reproach, retired to the shepherds, who were with the cattle in their pastures;

12 For he was not inclined to return home, lest his neighbours, who were present and heard all this from the high-priest, should publicly reproach him in the same manner.

CHAP. II.

1 An angel appears to Joachim, 9 and informs him that Anna shall conceive and bring forth a daughter, who shall be called Mary, 11 be brought up in the temple, 12 and while yet a virgin, in a way unparalleled, bring forth the Son of God: 13 gives him a sign, 14 and departs.

BUT when he had been there for some time, on a certain day when he was alone, the angel of the Lord stood by him with a prodigious light.

2 To whom, being troubled at the appearance, the angel who had appeared to him, endeavouring to compose him said:

3 Be not afraid, Joachim, nor troubled at the sight of me, for I am an angel of the Lord sent by him to you, that I might inform you, that your prayers are heard, and your alms ascended in the sight of God. 2

4 For he hath surely seen your shame, and heard you unjustly reproached for not having children: for God is the avenger of sin, and not of nature;

5 And so when he shuts the womb of any person, he does it for this reason, that he may in a more wonderful manner again open it, and that which is born appear to be not the product of lust, but the gift of God.

6 For the first mother of your nation Sarah, was she not barren even till her eightieth year: And yet even in the end of her old age brought forth Isaac, in whom the promise was made a blessing to all nations. 3

p. 19

7 Rachel also, so much in favour with God, and beloved so much by holy Jacob, continued barren for a long time, yet afterwards was the mot her of Joseph, who was not only governor of Egypt, but delivered many nations from perishing with hunger. 1

8 Who among the judges was more valiant than Samson, or more holy than Samuel? And yet both their mothers were barren. 2

9 But if reason will not convince you of the truth of my words, that there are frequent conceptions in advanced years, and that those who were barren have brought forth to their great surprise; therefore Anna your wife shall bring you a daughter, and you shall call her name Mary;

10 She shall, according to your vow, be devoted to the Lord from her infancy, and be filled with the Holy Ghost from her mother’s womb; 3

11 She shall neither eat nor drink anything which is unclean, nor shall her conversation be without among the common people, but in the temple of the Lord; that so she may not fall under any slander or suspicion of what is bad.

12 So in the process of her years, as she shall be in a miraculous manner born of one that was barren, so she shall, while yet a virgin, in a way unparalleled, bring forth the Son of the most High God, who shall, be called Jesus, and, according to the signification of his name, be the Saviour of all nations. 4

13 And this shall be a sign to you of the things which I declare, namely, when you come to the golden gate of Jerusalem, you shall there meet your wife Anna, who being very much troubled that you returned no sooner, shall then rejoice to see you.

14 When the angel had said this he departed from him.

CHAP. III.

1 The angel appears to Anna; 2 tells her a daughter shall be born unto her, 3 devoted to the service of the Lord in the temple, 5, who, being a virgin and not knowing man, shall bring forth the Lord, 6 and gives her a sign therefore. 8 Joachim and Anna meet and rejoice, 10 and praise the Lord. 11 Anna conceives, and brings forth a daughter called Mary.

AFTERWARDS the angel appeared to Anna his wife saying: Fear not, neither think that which you see is a spirit. 5

2 For I am that angel who hath offered up your prayers and alms before God, and am now sent to you, that I may inform you, that a daughter will be born unto you, who shall be called Mary, and shall be blessed above all women. 6

3 She shall be, immediately upon her birth, full of the grace of the Lord, and shall continue during the three years of her weaning in her father’s house, and afterwards, being devoted to the service of the Lord, shall not depart from the temple, till she arrives to years of discretion.

4 In a word, she shall there serve the Lord night and day in fasting and prayer, 7 shall abstain from every unclean thing, and never know any man;

5 But, being an unparalleled instance without any pollution or defilement, and a virgin not

p. 20

knowing any man, shall bring forth a son, and a maid shall bring forth the Lord, who both by his grace and name and works, shall be the Saviour of the world.

6 Arise therefore, and go up to Jerusalem, and when you shall come to that which is called the golden gate (because it is gilt with gold), as a sign of what I have told you, you shall meet your husband, for whose safety you have been so much concerned.

7 When therefore you find these things thus accomplished, believe that all the rest which I have told you, shall also undoubtedly be accomplished.

8 ¶ According therefore to the command of the angel, both of them left the places where they were, and when they came to the place specified in the angel’s prediction, they met each other.

9 Then, rejoicing at each other’s vision, and being fully satisfied in the promise of a child, they gave due thanks to the Lord, who exalts the humble.

10 After having praised the Lord, they returned home, and lived in a cheerful and assured expectation of the promise of God.

11 ¶ So Anna conceived, and brought forth a daughter, and, according to the angel’s command, the parents did call her name Mary.

Shrouded by twenty centuries of legend, close scrutiny by biblical scholars has cleared away legend and established a more accurate and factual account, however meager, of Sts Joachim and Anna. There is no denying the word of the Apostle James, who saw fit to go to great lengths to glean facts about the parents of Mary which he describes in a letter that somehow failed to find official acceptance.

Conflicting views notwithstanding, it is definitely known that St Anna was of the prestigious Hebrew tribe of Levi and that she was the daughter of the high priest Nathan, wed to a namesake Mary. This high priest had two daughters besides the Mary who mothered Anna. They were called Sovin and Anna, both of whom became mothers in Bethlehem, but Anna was married in Galilee where Mary, the Theotokos, was born. There is no denying Joachim was favored of God, who answered his prayer that a child be born to the barren union with Anna. The answer was Mary, of course, and thereafter was set in motion the world’s greatest faith, so overwhelming that St Joachim fades from view in misty swirls that surround the sweet mysteries of Christianity. It is enough to know St Joachim was the father of Mary, the mother who bore Jesus Christ, the divine Saviour who changed the course of world history and set it on another path which, if followed, leads to eternal life.

The fact that God moves in a mysterious way was evident when Joachim and Anna prayed for a child they knew not whether they were being granted a son or a daughter so they had no knowledge of what lay in store for them and for the world. The Apostle James has quoted an angel of the Lord as saying to Anna, “the Lord hath heard thy prayer, and thou shalt conceive and bring forth, and thy seed shall be spoken of in all the world.” There was no mention of the sex of the child as the Apostle James goes on to say that Anna accepted with the words: “As the Lord my God liveth if I beget male or female, I will bring it as a gift to the Lord my God; and it shall minister unto him holy things all the days of its life.” The use of the word “it” indicates Anna may have had premonitions but certainly no advance notice that ‘it’ was to be “she,” who in turn knowingly brought forth the Son of God. Indeed God does move in a mysterious way.

The Greek Orthodox Church has a hymn which sings gloriously,

“As we celebrate the remembrance of thy righteous grand- parents, through them we beseech thee, O Lord, to save our souls” .

Joachim and Anna

Since the genealogies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke do not explicitly name either of Mary’s parents, but apparently name two different fathers for Saint Joseph, many scholars from John of Damascus (8th century), and particularly Protestant scholars, argue that the genealogy in Luke is actually the family tree of Mary, and that Heli is her father.[2] To resolve the problem of Joseph having two fathers – one descended from Solomon, son of David, one descended from Nathan (son of David), traditions from the 7th century specify that Heli was a first cousin of Joachim.[3]

According to tradition, Saint Anne was born in Bethlehem, and married Joachim of Nazareth, both descendants of David.[4] In the Protoevangelium of James, Joachim is described as a rich and pious man, who regularly gave to the poor and to the synagogue at Sepphoris. Tradition has it that the parents of the Blessed Virgin, who, apparently, first lived in Galilee, came later on to settle in Jerusalem.[5] However, as his wife was barren, the high priest rejected Joachim and his sacrifice, as his wife’s childlessness was interpreted as a sign of divine displeasure. Joachim consequently withdrew to the desert where he fasted and did penance for forty days. Angels then appeared to both Joachim and Anne to promise them a child. Joachim later returned to Jerusalem and embraced Anne at the city gate. There was ancient belief that a child born of an elderly mother who had given up hope of having offspring was destined for great things. Parallels occur in the Old Testament in the case of Hannah, mother of Samuel.[6]

Joachim and Anne Meeting at the Golden Gate was a popular subject in artistic renditions of the Life of the Virgin.

The cycle of legends concerning Joachim and Anne were included in the Golden Legend and remained popular in Christian art until the Council of Trent restricted the depiction of apocryphal events.

No liturgical celebration of Saint Joachim was included in the Tridentine Calendar. It was added to the General Roman Calendar in 1584, for celebration on March 20, the day after the feast day of Saint Joseph. In 1738, it was transferred to the Sunday after the Octave of the Assumption of Mary. As part of his effort to allow the liturgy of Sundays to be celebrated, Pope Pius X transferred it to August 16, the day after the Assumption, so that Joachim may be remembered in the celebration of Mary’s triumph.[7] It was then celebrated as a Double of the 2nd Class, a rank that was changed in 1960 to that of 2nd Class Feast. In the 1969 revision of the General Roman Calendar it was joined to that of Anne, for celebration on July 26.[8]

The Eastern Orthodox Churches and Greek Catholics commemorate Joachim on September 9, the Synaxis of Joachim and Anne, the day after the Nativity of the Theotokos.

The Gospel of James, also known as the Infancy Gospel of James or the Protoevangelium of James, is an apocryphal Gospel probably written about AD 145, which expands backward in time the infancy stories contained in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, and presents a narrative concerning the birth and upbringing of Mary herself. It is the oldest source to assert the virginity of Mary not only prior to but during (and after) the birth of Jesus.[1] The ancient manuscripts that preserve the book have different titles, including “The Birth of Mary”, “The Story of the Birth of Saint Mary, Mother of God,” and “The Birth of Mary; The Revelation of James.”[2]

Conversely, some Eastern Orthodox Christians and Roman Catholics argue that that the Old Testament shows that consecrated virginity had been practiced in Judaism since the days of the prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 2:22),[5] and the idea of Mary being a consecrated temple virgin is not far-fetched.

Epiphanius likewise cites a passage concerning the death of Zacharias, which is not in Jerome’s copy, viz. “That it was the occasion of the death of Zacharias in the temple, that when he had seen a vision, he, through surprise, was willing to disclose it, and his mouth was stopped. That which he saw was at the time of his offering incense, and it was a man standing in the form of an ass. When he was gone out, and had a mind to speak thus to the people, Woe unto you, whom do ye worship? he who had appeared to him in the temple took away the use of his speech. Afterwards when he recovered it, and was able to speak, he declared this to the Jews, and they slew him. They add (viz. the Gnostics in this book), that on this very account the high-priest was appointed by their lawgiver (by God to Moses), to carry little bells, that whensoever he went into the temple to sacrifice, he, whom they worshipped, hearing the noise of the bells, might have time enough to hide himself; and not be caught in that ugly shape and figure.”—The principal part of this Gospel is contained in the Protevangelion of James, which follows next in order.]
