My Political Campaign Ad

I’m still waiting to pass a test in order to be approved as a candidate for the Governor of Oregon. I’ve always wanted to make a campaign ad, so, I best do it now before I am rejected for some reason – or more. Yesterday my friend told me he spotted a man who looked just like Jesus walking along a highway in the country of Oregon. He was carrying a cross.

OPENING SCENE: A straight two lane highway is seen from the air, near La Pine. It is less traveled. We see a figure in the distance. Getting closer we see a man carrying a cross with a wheel on the base. He looks just like Jesus. We hear music. There is a close-up of his strained face. Then, a speeding truck passes with rednecks in the back.

“GET A JOB – HIPPIE!” one of them shouts.

The walker lifts an arm and his first words are not heard as the driver lays on the horn.

“……YOU!”

The man turns to the camera and says;

“Don’t vote for John Presco. He’s too middle of the road!”

The truck passes a camera down the road, and a young cowboy type shouts this while waving his hat:

“YEEEEEEEE-HAWWWW!”

Take to the highway won’t you lend me your name
Your way and my way seem to be one and the same

Mama don’t understand it
She wants to know where I’ve been
I’d have to be some kind of natural born fool
To want to pass that way again
But you know I could feel it
On a country road

Sail on home to Jesus won’t you good girls and boys
I’m all in pieces, you can have your own choice
But I can hear a heavenly band full of angels
And they’re coming to set me free
I don’t know nothing ’bout the why or when
But I can tell that it’s bound to be
Because I could feel it, child, yeah
On a country road

I guess my feet know where they want me to go
Walking on a country road

Take to the highway won’t you lend me your name
Your way and my way seem to be one and the same, child
Mama don’t understand it
She wants to know where I’ve been
I’d have to be some kind of natural born fool
I wanna pass that way again
But I could feel it, oh
On a country road

Walk on down, walk on down, walk on down
Walk on down, walk on down a country road
La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la
Country road, oh, yeah
Walking on a country road

Country road, uh
Country road
