The Sheriff and Coroner of Monterey County have the taped telephone conversation I made with a recuse person who helped get my sister, Christine Rosamond Benton, out of the choppy ocean and put in an ambulance where she expired. He told me;
“When I got up, I saw white caps to the horizon!”
This is part of the public record that testifies to the REAL WARNING given to Christine, and ALL others around her, that it was DANGEROUS to go near the ocean. On top of that, was Shamus hearing STRONG GUSTS OF WIND that told him – and everyone who heard this wind – that there would be large waves that morning – at high tide!
The first theory I owned weeks after Christine drowned, was that Vicki, Shamus, and Drew, went down to look at the large geyser of water – shooting a hundred feet into the air when it came in that narrow crag – and hitting a wall! One or more members of my family were taken in. Someone ran up to the house to call 911. Christine ran down to save Drew. Rather than tell the truth, for evil monetary reasons, I was MADE OUT TO BE INSANE. I and my family did not know I had A TEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. When Heather Hanson came into my life, members of my family convinced her I WAS INSANE by wanting to believe my sister – was murdered!
It is hard to believe, that thousands of people FLOCKED to the edge of the ocean to watch the tsunami roll in – AFTER BEING WARNED! Where was Christine’s concern for her eight year old daughter – that she would not let get near a lake when they went camping? Christine was – not there! She ran down to save her child.

Surfers, beachgoers rescued amid tsunami advisory at SF’s Ocean Beach (sfgate.com)
When the San Francisco Fire Department’s public information officer John Baxter received a call on Saturday morning that a tsunami advisory had been issued for coastal California, including parts of the Bay Area, the first thing he did was look out the window of his home, located about a mile and a half from Ocean Beach.
After making sure his family, pets and property were safe, he climbed up the roof with a pair of binoculars in hand and observed the coastline.
“I didn’t see what I’ve seen in Hollywood, like a huge wave coming toward us or anything,” said Baxter.

Christine lived in the Carmel area for over twenty years. Being deathly afraid of large waves – she had many nightmares about them – she must have zeroed in on how she would, could survive if she ever found herself in, or near, what she feared the most. My sister knew, that when there was a strong wind – the waves were higher! One of the rescue people who lives on a cliff overlooking the sea, said;

Here is Shamus saying it was “windy” on one of my yahoo chat-groups. All the women in my family get/got cold easily. I was not told Vicki was dead – till ten days later! Why? I was not told – she was dying! Why? Because, people on death’s door – make a confession!
I lost all my family, and all our friends, when I DARE SPEAK about Shamus Dundon using the word “windy” The President of the United States is becoming undone, after he played games with the wind! Once you add THE WIND, then the motherly concern for her nine year old daughter – IS EXTREME! Try as they may, they could not remove this TRUTH!
I knew I would be ostracized by all members of my family if I mentioned the wind. Again Shamus told me I lost everyone when I accused people of murder.
In my report to the Sherriff, the Coroner, John Detro, and the Probate, I repeated what my Detective friend told me.
“Now that we know they told one vital lie (the wind) then we have to assume everything we have been told is a lie – until it can be proven – true! We have to consider all possibilities, even murder.”
This is how all Detectives work! I told Shamus on the phone seven days ago, that the No.1 theory I have, that fits most of the facts, is that you took Drew down to ocean to fish.
“Vic told me you stopped by his house Friday afternoon to pick up his fishing poles. ”
“I didn’t get any poles.”
“What did you get?”
“I don’t recall.”
BULLSHIT!
My father told me Vicki and he were not talking, and she stayed in the car. Ask Shamus why they were not speaking. Surely he knew he was being put on the spot. In the Pincecone account, Vicki suggest they go to town and rent fishing poles. Vicki talks abut the full moon and tidal action. Passover fell on Saturday.

there cliff ended (sand meeting water) and worked our way back up the cliffs. I
seperated from them early on after not seeing any sea urchins etc (I
was hoping for tidal pool type stuff) I went find lizards after
running around the cliffs for about 15 minutes I gave up and went back to the
house to read. Only 3 people were in the bowl when christine was taken.

think I hear something (it’s windy so I think I’m hearing something). Then
I’m pretty sure I hear something so I get off the couch and look out the door.
The next thing I saw were Mom and Drew running up the hill mom crying and
saying to call 911. My whereabouts where in the guesthouse . You know
exactly where I was now. there not 4 people in the bowl.
“It was a full moon weekend with lots of tidal action. A friend told
me that five other people were swept out to sea ( from California’s
north coast) over the same period. We went to look for shells and
tide pool creatures. Christine was sure the tide was going out. Did
she know what lay a head?”
While there had been big waves visible farther along the coast, the
ocean’s surface here is calm. Though the tide may be turning, it
seems low.
Christine tells Layne that she and others are excited about exploring a small cove to search for any treasures left by the sea. That
evening, he sounds a warning;” If you go down to the ocean,” he tells Christine, “have a care.”
In the morning, under a windless sky, Christine, her daughter Drew and sister Vicki, make their way down a fence line.”
“It is nearly impossible for Vicki to believe that the jacket she has
retrieved from the iceplant is the same one Christine was wearing.
The world become bleary as Vicki tries to grasp the fact that the
ocean must have reached this far up on the slope. Un-noticed, Vicki’s
hands snap and unsnap the fastenings at the waist.” page 5

In 2018, the January 1-2 full moon closely aligned with perigee to bring forth especially high tides. As it happened, on the day after the January 1-2 supermoon, Storm Eleanor hit Europe with winds of up to 100 mph (160 km/h). The wind and extra-high tides caused flooding, hampered travel, injured and killed people, left tens of thousands of homes without power across the U.K., Ireland and other parts of Europe. Unexpected wave costs fisherman his life

SWEPT OFF the rocky shoreline by a wave near Soberanes Point in Big Sur, a fisherman drowned Dec. 28.
The man — whose identity hasn’t been released — and a friend were fishing from a rock high above the surf at about 10 a.m. when his line got snagged on a another rock below, Deputy Jesse Villasenor of the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office told The Pine Cone.
“Both went down below to unsnag the hook or line when a wave surprised them and pulled them into the ocean,” Villasenor said.
The victim’s friend managed to get out of the water and quickly called for help. But he lost sight of the other man.
Responding to the incident were State Parks lifeguards, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team, the Mid Coast Volunteer Fire Brigade, Cal Fire and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter.
It was the helicopter’s crew who finally found the man about two hours later. He was about 200 yards from shore.
“One of the lifeguards jumped in the water and got the victim,” Villasenor explained. “He was already dead.”
The man was the latest in a long line of people — many fishermen — who have drowned over the years along the coast at Garrapata State Park or at nearby Rocky Point.
Most locals know that the ocean can be deadly, and state parks tries to make it clear to everybody else that the shoreline along the North Big Sur is particularly treacherous.
“The surf is extremely dangerous,” a warning reads. “Do not swim, wade or climb on rocks.”
The day before the drowning, a man who suffered a mishap nearby was luckier. A 19-year-old from Salinas was hiking along the cliffs with two friends just south of Soberanes Point when he fell and slipped down to the surf. The incident happened just before sunset, and lifeguards, the search and rescue team, Mid-Coast volunteers and Cal Fire all responded.
The man was treated for minor scrapes and hypothermia before he was released.
Fortunately, he didn’t need an ambulance ride to town — the Carmel Highlands was experiencing a holiday season traffic jam.
“I was amazed at all the cars,” Villasenor said. “It was bumper to bumper.”
Early the next morning, the search and rescue team traveled inland to Tassajara Road, where a man from Pacific Grove was reported missing by his family after he went for a day hike along the Horse Pasture Trail near the Tassajara Zen Center the previous afternoon.
But before the team reached the trailhead, they found the man driving down Tassajara Road, and he was fine. The man, who was in his 60s, had become lost along the trail as the light faded, so he hunkered down for the night.

An aunt identified the boy as Jaime Fernandez of Marina. Fernandez was a senior at Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville and was expected to graduate in June.Advertisement
Fernandez had gone to an abandoned house south of Rocky Point that perches over a remote cliff and is a popular hangout spot for teenagers.

Someone should be there warning people that this beach is deadly. We parked our car and walked straight toward the ocean and saw no signs. I even had trouble finding the sign to get the name of the beach when I was calling 911,” Laura Arredondo said.
In the past 20 years there have been at least 18 deaths reported at this half-mile beach stretch, according to the Divers’ Alert Network medical research department and The Herald’s archives.
