Spielberg Does Lincoln

I had considered Steven Spielberg directing the movie ‘Capturing Beauty’ that more then once I said was bigger then ‘Gone With the Wind’ because our kindred were big players in the Civil War and the European Revolution that led up to it in 1848. John and Jessie Fremont were close friends of Louis Kossuth who emancipated the Jews of Hungary. The Forty-Eighters began a Cultural Revolution that is still being waged today. Spielberg is forever looking for a Liberal and Jewish cause to put in the limelight, but, has missed the mark when it comes to his movie ‘Lincoln’ that was inspired by the novel ‘Team of Rivals’. John Fremont was Lincoln’s greatest rival, he emancipating the slaves of Missouri forcing Lincoln’s hand. Fremont was surrounded by Hungarian freedom Fighters who no doubt informed the first Republican Canidate for the Republican Party about the Socialist Revolution sweeping Europe. Socialist put Lincoln in the White House. These socialist founded the Nation of Israel.

For two weeks I have been composing a post that would expound upon this truth, that no matter who takes the White House, my family will win. Mark Presco, Bill Cornwell, and Heather Hanson appear to be neo-Confederate racists and backers of the Tea Party. However, because these three people thwarted my novels, and thus my attempt to get off SS1 and be a success – they may end up as Historical villains.

Because I admitted that I am mentally ill, and am an alcoholic, I have been disqualified in all the family rivalries. I was not qualified to write about my famous mentally ill sibling who suffered from alcoholism – because I am a “parasite” on society. This oppression of the creative mentally ill will be made famous, for it will be a comprehensive study in my book. Many famous artists and writers were, and are, mentally ill.

Here are paragraphs from the probate of the world famous artist, Christine Rosamond Benton. The court appointed executor is giving an uncreative outsider permission to author a book and make a movie about my family so that the creditors can be paid off, the foremost being Lawrence Chazen, a CEO of Nobel Oil who he helped move to the Cayman Islands so “parasites” can’t get to his money. In eleven days We the People get to vote for a winner of the cultural warfare that has divided our Nation. If Romney wins, we will see the reversal of everything the Fremonts worked for – and Lincoln.

In Mr. Sydney Morris’s Report of the Administration he says on page 4 line 10;

“Petitioner hired Stacey Pierrot, who had been assistant manager of the gallery during Decedent’s lifetime, to run the gallery and prepare and execute a marketing plan. The gallery was run by the estate until March 1996 when the gallery was sold to Ms. Pierrot through a contract approved by this Court. During the time that the estate operated the gallery, aggressive marketing efforts were made in an attempt to stir interest in Decedent’s work and increase the potential market for her work. In spite of these efforts, interest in Decedent’s work continued to wane.”

On page six, Mr. Morris explains why there was a delay in the closing of the estate;

“By September 2000, however, plans were underway for a biography of Decedent, which Petitioner hoped might create interest in her work. The book was published in 2002. Although the book did not spur the hoped-for interest in Decedent’s life and work, efforts continued to market the concept of a screenplay based upon Decedent’s life. Petitioner hoping that this might be brought to fruition, elected to keep the estate open. However, it is the Petitioner’s belief the likelihood of an increased interest in Decedents work is negligible, and the time has come to close the estate.”

Steven Spielberg’s childhood, it turns out, had as much drama as many of his movies.

In a revealing interview with “60 Minutes” Sunday night, the 65-year-old “Lincoln” director opened up on a traumatic childhood filled with anti-Semitism and bullying.

“I was a nerd in those days. Outsider,” Spielberg said. “Like the kid that played the clarinet in the band and orchestra, which I did.”

But his mother, Leah, now 92, told the CBS news magazine that the family often was the targets of vitriol as the only Jewish family in their suburban Phoenix neighborhood.

In 1992 Dr. Arnold M. Ludwig, a psychiatrist at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, published an extensive biographical survey of 1,005 famous 20th-century artists and writers, comparing their mental health with those of individuals in other, more conventional, professionals. Ludwig discovered that artists and writers experienced two to three times the rate of psychosis, suicide attempts, mood disorders, and substance abuse than did comparably successful people in business, science, and public life. Ludwig went so far as to trace various types of mental illness to different creative professions: he found that if you’re a poet you’re more likely to suffer from mania and psychoses; a musician or actor, drug abuse; a composer, artist, or non-fiction writer, alcohol dependence. In Ludwig’s analysis, those professions which rely on precision, reason, and logic have a much lower rate of mental illness than those that rely on emotive expression, personal experience, and vivid imagery as a source of inspiration.

In other words, it could always be worse–you could be a poet.

Steven Spielberg in 1978 was one of the rising young lions of the Hollywood film scene.

“These people used to chant, ‘The Spielbergs are dirty Jews,’” she said. “And one night, Steve climbed out of his bedroom windows and peanut buttered their bed room windows, which I thought was marvelous.”

When told by CBS’ Leslie Stahl of his mother’s comments, Spielberg responded, “I guess right now we’re beyond the statute of limitations, so I can’t get sued for vandalism.”

For a long time as a child, he says he was embarrassed of his Jewish heritage.

“I often told people my last name was German, not Jewish,” he told Stahl. “I’m sure my grandparents are rolling over in their graves right now, hearing me say that.”

Louis Kossuth was a good friend of John and Jesse Fremont. Jesse
Benton accompanied Kossuth on his speaking tours of American. Louis
was titled the ‘Angel of Freedom’ due to his call for the true
emanncipation of humnity. In 1948, Kossuth granted complete civil
rights to the Jews of Hungary. This act may have inspired John
Fremont to emmancipate the slaves of Missouri where many Forty-
Eighters called home.

This emmancipation, born of the love of freedom, is a family
tradition that led to the foundation of the State of Israel. It is
time to step back and take a good look at who we are. It is time for
all Americans to step forth and call for peace in Lebanon until we
can discover who our real enemies are, what our real enemy, is.

1849 July 28, HUNGARY

First National Assembly, led by the revolutionary leader Kossuth,
granted complete political and civil rights to the Jews in
recognition of their loyalty. By 1848, The Austrian-Habsburg Empire
was beginning to crumble. In Bohemia and Moravia, Czech National
spirit was on the rise with the building of the Rudolphinium and the
growing hero-worship of Jan Huss, and all over the Empire,
revolutionary tensions were simmering. This was the year chosen by
the Hungarian Maygars to begin their revolt against the Habsburgs.
Whereas we would normally expect the Jews to fight for the
Habsburgs, because they were the established rulers who saved the
Jews from attack, the Jews in fact took up arms against the
Habsburgs, on the side of the Magyars without question. In fact, the
level of support was so great that the Obuda Synagogue was stripped
of every piece of metal, including the breast plates of Torah
Scrolls, all of which was donated to the war effort. In response to
this, the two major leaders of the rebellion, Lajos Kossuth and
Count Istvan Széchenyi began discussing the idea of Jewish
emancipation.

Széchenyi felt that the Jews should be given full citizenship as a
reward, but that they weren’t entirely trustworthy. He felt that
they were only claiming to be Hungarian, but were in fact ALMOST a
separate nation. Kossuth disagreed. He felt that the Magyars were
not ready for Jewish emancipation, and that they should instead give
Jews greater public rights rather than full emancipation. Whatever
the ethical decision, the truth was that Jews were taking up arms
for the Hungarians on a wide scale. Eventually the rebels recognised
this, and in July 1849, they passed the Act of Emancipation for the
Jews. Unfortunately, this was the last Act the independent Hungarian
Parliament passed.

Eventually, the rebellion was crushed by the Austrians and Kossuth
went into exile, never to return. The Jews were fined 2,300,000
guilders by the Austrians for their part in the revolt, and their
emancipation was forgotten, a thing of the past. Eventually, in
1867, the Austrians, seeing that they would never be able to put
down Hungarian nationalism, changed their Empire to the Austro-
Hungarian Empire. This meant that the Hungarians still had no
independent Hungary, but had more influence. In turn, this meant
better conditions, but still no emancipation for the Jews.

Even though the provisional authorities who came to power in March
deferred complete emancipation of Jews until constitutional
assemblies were elected, restrictions against Jews ceased to be
enforced. On April 25, the government offered civil rights to all
religions with the stipulation that the provision dealing with Jews
would be reviewed. After renewed violence in May, Jews were given
full rights. Both Fischhof and a Viennese student Joseph Goldmark
played important roles in bringing about full emancipation.
Moreover, several Jews sat in the Vienna Reichstag in July. In
October, after a rousing speech by Mannheimer, the Austrian
parliament, just before its members fled to Moravia, voted to
abolish the remaining taxes on Jews. Likewise, the last act of the
revolutionary Hungarian government lifted the final barriers to
emancipation.

Yet, when the Austrian monarchy recaptured the city, the new
emperor, Franz Joseph, dissolved the Reichstag and nullified
the “Basic Laws.” Many revolutionaries were arrested including
Fischhof who was sentenced to nine months, and Goldmark who was
sentenced to death. Goldmark, like many other Jewish and non-Jewish
revolutionaries, managed to escape to the United States. In
addition, the radical publicist, Hermann Jellinek, was caught and
shot. Jellinek’s death reminds us that while most Jews were not
political radicals, some prominent people of Jewish origin emerged
as leaders of the nascent socialist movement.

Part of the reason that Jewish emancipation became a major issue in
many of the deliberations was that Jews themselves participated in
the overthrowing of the monarchies as well as the writing of the new
constitutions. In August, 1848, Riesser, who was elected Vice
President of the National Assembly in Frankfurt, countered demands
that Jews be placed under separate legislation because they were not
Germans by declaring that: “under just laws, Jews would be the most
ardent patriots of Germany; they will become Germans along with, as
well as among, Germans. Do not presume that discriminatory laws can
be tolerated without dealing a disastrous blow to the entire system
of freedom, and without introducing demoralization into it!”

Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln is a book by historian Doris Kearns Goodwin published in 2005. The book is a biographical portrait of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln and some of the men who served with him in his Cabinet from 1861 to 1865. Three of his Cabinet members had previously run against Lincoln in the 1860 election: Attorney General Edward Bates, Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase and Secretary of State William H. Seward. The book focuses on Lincoln’s mostly successful attempts to reconcile conflicting personalities and political factions on the path to abolition and victory in the US Civil War.

While consulting on a Steven Spielberg project in 1999, Goodwin told Spielberg she was planning to write Team of Rivals, and Spielberg immediately told her he wanted the film rights.[1] DreamWorks finalized the deal in 2001[2] and the film has been in pre-production since. Daniel Day-Lewis agreed to play Abraham Lincoln after Liam Neeson withdrew from the project in 2010 after being attached from the start; with Sally Field playing Mary Todd Lincoln.[3] The screenplay was written by Tony Kushner.[4] Filming began on October 17, 2011,[5] and ended on December 19, 2011.[6] The film will be released nationwide on November 16, 2012.[7]

Filming began Monday, October 17, 2011[4] and ended on December 19, 2011.[5] The film is scheduled for wide release on November 9, 2012, by DreamWorks Studios through Disney’s Touchstone distribution label in the U.S.[6] and internationally by 20th Century Fox.[7] The timing of the film’s release coincides with 150th anniversary of the days leading to, and the issuance of, the Emancipation Proclamation.[citation needed

[edit] Plot summary
DreamWorks has announced that the film “will focus on the political collision of Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the Civil War.”[8] According to Spielberg, Doris Kearns Goodwin’s entire book about Lincoln’s presidency is “much too big” for a film, and said that the film will focus on the last few months of Lincoln’s life, the ending of slavery and the Union victory in the Civil War. Spielberg said that “what permanently ended slavery was the very close vote in the House of Representatives over the Thirteenth Amendment – that story I’m excited to tell.” Spielberg plans to show “Lincoln at work, not just Lincoln standing around posing for the history books…arguably the greatest working President in American history doing some of the greatest work for the world.”[9]
Screenwriter Tony Kushner has said that he worked on the script for six years and that he was very interested in “the relationship of Lincoln to the abolitionist GOP” and that Lincoln’s “incredible ability to finesse very, very treacherous political circumstances and continue to move the country forward, I mean, to lead the country forward in the midst of the most horrendously difficult period in its history, I think, is breathtaking and awe-inspiring.”[10]
