Around 4:00 AM on February 15, 2026, I read on ]Find a Grave that my great, great grandather, Carl Janke died October 31,1881. When I found where Janke was moved into a MASS GRAVE – my nightmare of trying to put to rest deceased members of my family became a psychotic take – without end?

On the phone we talkd abouty wheter a corner had to be present when a grave was opened, so the body can be moved. In sone States this is required. In California a liscence is needed, and a form filled out. The persmission of the descendants family – is required – unless there is suspcion of foul play, and this grave diggin is part of the case. In rading this paragraphfrom Belmont History, it begins with

THE NEED FOR MORE LAND

As a Biblical Scholar I can attest the need for more (promised) is THE STORY is the history of the Jews -to this very day! No need the great American Complaint come from Indigenous Peoples who showed up at Belmont Creek to wonder if these were Tribal Bones. Was this Native murdered? I have a suspect…..McDougal, who used to own this land, then sold it to Carl Janke. This letuent Governor was trying to establish Calfornia first Captial, and is accused of murdering 40 native Americans. Did he start his kill – on his land?

Please, Ms.

Today is Sunday and I thought I would perform a service for THE DEAD AND MISSING. I feel for the parents of Ylva Hagner because they don’t know if their daughter is dead, and thus own a picture of how she died. We are in the same bnat. I do not own a icture of how my famous sister, died. Our mother said she killed herself, and there was big party planned. There was talk about a movie, and hiring CarrieFisher to write the script.

Then, I read on Facebook a message from my nieces boyfriend. Christine daughter killed herself, and was in the morgue for twenty days because no family member came forth. I communicated with this guy, and a friend. and Drew Benton quit her job saying SHE IS BEING STALKED by co-walker who went to jail for making a “kill list” with her name on the top. No one knew she had famous parents. Why? Because she was treat diffently. This is a form os stalkig.

Please Mih. I need your hekp. There are two times and places for where Drew died – and how! I cant bare to look at that. Two months after Drew’s mother was allfdly “killed by a rogue wave” I sent the coroner of Monterey Couty my sisty page report, that cause him to change his report. He was told family member “were hiker on Highway 1”. There was plans for a party. Several members nd friends were staying in Christine’s home, and at Rocky Point. To hide people, and the house, is right out of the game Clue.

Here’s where it really gets eerie! You will find now history of Rosamond at the Belmont Historical Society because she was a threat to Denny Lawhern and Cynthia McCarthy who collbprated on the History of Belmont. I suspect they founded my hsotyr – two years pior. U suspect they feared I would find out about the MASS GRAVE! But, what tops this evil, off, they feared Rosamond would put them in her shadow. There are two eivil books and a screenplay written by outsiers. There motive is money. Thus, they want more history to glom onto such as…..

The job interview of Starfish might be the most Woke work of literature – ever! With the firing of Shoshana Chatfield, The Royal Janitor becomes a art piece, a play, another book in the New Testament, because I created her as a great Biblical Scholar, and, an AAA Killer. Starfish would be a perfect person to lead a crusade – if she was a man! I was inspired by all the women and men on Facebook who claim they are Knights Templar. Turning Starfish into a Lesbian who marries a descendent of the Bond Family, was the most impossible thing, ever, except for the Commander in Chief wanting to invade two NATO Nations in the middle of the Tariff War he started. But, isn’t that the point of both Biblical books, the Children of God get in one hell of a mess, but, God wins in the end. I am not a Christian – or a Jew.

My Archived Posts – Templar de Rosemont

I posted these e-mails eighteen years ago. The Yahoogroup archives were wiped out. A gentleman saved mine. My posts went into my letter to the Judge who oversaw the probate of Christine Rosamond Benton. I claim Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle as the home of my Rosamond kin.

Sleeping Beauty is named Rosamond. Julius Evola wrote about The Grail. Dugin, Putin’s brain praises Julius. This suggests Putin is on a Holy Crusade.

Belmont History Scandal

https://rosamondpress.com/2024/07/22/the-missing-janke-gravestone/

Here is the come-on. The City of Belmont offers free membership to THE Belmont Historical Society IF POTENTIAL BUYERS ATTEND the book signing ceremony for the book CYNTHIA KARPA McCARTHY wrote 2014. Why didn’t the city, the society, and Cynthia, get on google to see if anyone had copyrighted some of this history – before they singed off on it, gave their signature and O.K.? I have every reason to suspect they went into my archives via the search, and found my copyrighted material. THEY knew what was going on, and kept me in the dark. Then THEY threatened me and GASLIGHTED me. Never in the annals of History Keeping, has such an outrage occurred. I am actively seeking an attorney. I have a right to affix my name to my family history and have it publicly displayed with other history pertinent to my family. How did McCarthy come to own – MY HISTORY? Who sold it to her?

Here is Cynthia saying my family history is not – that important. Then she says there is no competition – after I sensed there was. Finally, she mentions a copyright which causes me to google her, and discover she wrote a book on Belmont that THE CITY helped promote.

“We are related to historic people somewhere.

Maybe your friend the editor can explain copyright to you.

I just sent this to the City Council”

As of 3-23-21 I can no longer post on your Belmont History site. I want to make you aware I copyrighted the name Carl Janke and his history with my kin, the Stuttmeisters, in 2012, two years before McCarthy published her history of Belmont. I found an advertisement for my copyrighted material and family history on a Belmont City site, where if one comes to the book signing of McCarthy’s book, they get free membership in the Belmont Historical Society – that gave me a very hard time when I posted my history there – it all taken down. Has the City of Belmont captured my copyrighted history, or, are they just helping Cynthia McCarthy sell it?

Meet Snitty Cynthia Karpa McCarthy

Posted on March 1, 2021 by Royal Rosamond Press

The Jealous Historical Society | Rosamond Press

Here she is, the devil who played evil mind games with me – and dead members of my family!. She wrote a book on the City of Belmont – and did not tell me for three days. We were having a squabble over how the facebook for the Belmont Historical Society is set up. My first posts identified me as a close relative of Carl Janke. Did Snitty Miss Cynthia – jump for joy and say;

“Oh by God! I thought you were all dead. I wrote a book on your family. Have you read my book? Do you have more family photos – and history?

One of the first posts I posted was on Cipriani found La California in Italy. did she jump for joy at this news. Did she tell me this was fantastic research. This is a ex-librarian. Don’t they take a oath to respect writers of books, and the history of people – written by relatives. What gets me, she did not approve the Tiffany window in the Janke-Stuttmeister crypt with the name of Augustus Janke on it. Why would she withhold this beautiful historic image from the people of Belmont. I suspect she is a parasite and a thief who stayed up all night pouring through the blog – that she said she did not know existed1 Outrageous. I spoke about the deaths in the family and the books and movie scripts about my famous sister. Is she gong for another Rosemond Book? You think she would have said

“Your sister is Rosamond? Oh my God, I had some of her work. And her grandfather is Carl Janke? Oh my God. Lets co-author a book together!”

But, what got me, is, she took down this photo of the Janke-Stuttmeister crypt after I told her this is where my grandfather moved OUR DEAD after they were dug up from their not final resting place, the Oddfellow cemetery.

As fate would have it, I posted my video of Chuck Kesey on his brothers mural, on Davina Hurt page. Snitty Catherine falsely claimed in her history book, the Grateful Dead lived, or, practiced their music in Ralston Hall. I have been on the bus with Kesey. I believe I posted on Nancy Hamren who worked at the Kesey Creamery and made a famous a yogurt. I will be letting The Dead Family – found all over the world – know that I came upon a trap-door spider that FEEDS OFF THE DEAD. My grandparents knew Joaquin Miller, who was promoted by Ida Culbreth, the head of the Oakland Library. This is a CONSPIRACY! Snitty said she is the only one to blame. How many read my posts, and knew I was handing them a gold mine? Did they should a warning. Did thy say;

“You need to talk to Cynthia Karpa McCarthy! You two have alot in common!”

No we don’t.

Here is the Satan-Cherry atop the who stinking History Theft. I posted on the Tanforan Cottages and my theory Cipriani bought one of Janke’s homes he brought around the Cape in 1849. I said this;

“Someone needs to look at these houses to see if they are screwed together.”

I belive I posted on the dumb claim Ciriani tore down a house in Italy and had it shipped to Belmont. Miss Snitty stole that idea from aother alleged historian, Dd Snitty say;

“Wow! Fantastic theory! Can you come here! Well ut you up in a fine hotel. We can get the city to lend us some construction workers!”

We will review the content for its interest to our followers.”

How many others shared with THE REVIEWERS and got the same treatment – and walked away? I told Cynthia to let me post away, and if THE REVIWERS don’t like it, tell me, and I will take it down. How many visitors to this group – that give a rat’s ass. I will lodge a complaint with facebook.

William Stuttmeister moved his Janke kin to Colma after the outrage of their graves being opened and evicted. I am going to bring a lawsuit against Belmont if my posts are not restored. This is very traumatic! An outrage made fresh by a jealous ingrate who complained about volunteering. I’ll run your page – all by myself!

I am third generation Oakland where Kamala was born. This morning I spent four hours posting my family history of Carl Janke, a Belmont Pioneer, and all my posts were taken down. There was confusion why my posts were not shown last night. I hope no one is playing boyscout with this very important history. I worked with the Upstairs Art Association, and Oakland Redevelopment, something I read you are interested in. Too many townfolk want to create what they read in the Sally, Dick, and Jane books thinking this is the kind of history they deserve. One of my grandfather’s is associated with Sleepy Hollow and is in Hawthorne’s ‘The Scarlet Letter’. https://rosamondpress.com/…/janke-and-turner-vigilantes/

Christine Rosamond – Wikipedia

Rosamond Publishing – About the Artist

Midway between San Francisco and San José, Belmont is where an Italian count reconstructed his villa transported from Italy, where a silver king created “the White House of the West,” and where the Warlocks, a fledgling 1960s rock band, honed the sound they would make famous under another name, the Grateful Dead. Spanish explorers called Belmont’s vales “la Cañada del Diablo,” or “the Devil’s Canyon,” either after the locally famous winds or because the native Ohlone believed the canyon to be inhabited by spirits. Belmont’s historic advantage of being on the bay side of the shortest route to the Pacific coast meant easier access to another type of spirits during Prohibition, fueling a minor red-light district across the tracks on Old County Road. A century or more ago, Belmont’s wooded hills attracted sanitariums and prep schools. Today, its woods and trails draw residents from more developed neighboring towns.

Cynthia Karpa McCarthy, a former newspaper reporter and editor, is a librarian in San Mateo County. A California native, she enjoys reading and researching California history, particularly about Leonetto Cipriani, a Corsican who briefly lived in Belmont, California.

played in–possibly both of them.

Fireside Lounge, 2322 El Camino Real, San Mateo (August 1965)

The Fireside Lounge was run more on the Las Vegas model, if without the gambling. There was dinner and drinks to go with the dancing, sometimes a floor show, or topless dancers late at night. The object for a band was to keep people dancing so that they would buy drinks. I have written about the Fireside Lounge elsewhere, albeit with respect to another band.

According to McNally and Jackson in The Illustrated Trip, The Warlocks played one or a few gigs at The Fireside Lounge in August of 1965. It was probably a sort of “audition” gig, but the band didn’t return there, to my knowledge.

The In Room, El Camino Real, Belmont (mid-September to late October 1965)

The In Room was a popular nightclub in Belmont, although I have not yet been able to identify the exact location (on the map, I located it El Camino Real and Ralston Avenue, a principal intersection the business strip, and The In Room was certainly near there). McNally describes it as

a heavy hitting divorcee’s pick-up joint, the sort of swinging bar where real-estate salesmen chased stewardesses and single women got plenty of free drinks. Dark, with red and black as the color scheme, it was the kind of place that sold almost nothing but hard liquor (p.88)

The Warlocks were booked at the In Room for six weeks, from mid-September until late October of 1965. They played five 50-minute sets a night, five nights a week. 150 sets later, The Warlocks were a real band. The first week they had backed The Coasters for a set each night, but for the balance of the run they covered the gig themselves. They would start out playing almost straight-up, but as they got higher and the night got looser, their playing got more “barbaric.” Oddly enough, they started to build their own audience of nascent freaks, who would show up for the later sets, distinctly different than the hard-drinking pick up crowd. One night, for example, a band of Tacoma transplants called The Frantics ended up hanging out there, which is how Moby Grape guitarist Jerry Miller and Jerry Garcia first met.

The In Room was in Belmont, half way between Palo Alto and San Francisco. The Warlocks had played a little further up the El Camino (The Fireside and Big Al’s), but the In Room stood for a mid-point. The Warlocks were a real band making real money (if not a lot), but they were still doing their own thing and finding their own audience, so they were half way there.

An ad for the In-Room at The Chalet, a hotel at 635 Old County Road in Belmont. This ad was from the Friday, February 12, 1966 edition of the San Mateo Times

Update: Fellow scholar Dave Sorochty tracked down a contemporary ad for The In-Room, in the San Mateo Times (from February 12, 1966). The hotel was called The Chalet (see the picture above), and the lounge was called the In-Room. The actual address was 635 Old County Road. Note in the ad that the host is Rich Romanello; about a year later, Romanello was running a nearby club called Winchester Cathedral, and he promoted the initial incarnation of the groundbreaking Sly And The Family Stone.

[There is some general talk that The Warlocks played some High School dances in the South Bay in Fall 1965. It is possible, but its important to remember that in the 60s and 70s everybody in the South Bay had a Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia story, and most of them were wishful thinking. Every High School had a story about how the Dead played there back in the day, or Jerry Garcia went there, and they can’t all of been true. Supposedly the Warlocks played Palo Alto High School on September 19, 1965, but it has been impossible to confirm this]

Pierre’s, Broadway at Columbus, San Francisco (early November 1965)

At some point, The Warlocks made Phil Lesh’s former roommate, Hank Harrison, into their manager. Harrison did very little for the group in his brief tenure. One gig he did get them was playing at a topless joint on North Beach called Pierre’s. Pierre’s, on the corner of Broadway in Columbus, the same corner as City Lights Bookstore, had been a popular Latin Jazz nightspot in the early 1960s. As topless joints took over Broadway, Pierre’s went topless as well, but the club was fading.

Cynthia Karpa McCarthy played an evil game with me and my dead. She kept removing posts, but, never told me she wrote a book on Belmont with photos of members of my family. She, and another kept threatening to take down my posts, knowing how valuable they are – especially my family photographs. This constitute Conspiracy. All evidence I exist, or posted on a site guided by the City of Belmont, is being erased. My posts on the City Managers office, are being taken down. Thank God I posted my information here – in duplicate! I also made copies of our exchange. I told Cynthia I posted here. I believe there is a Coverup! My full name is John Gregory Presco. When I reportedon the anarchist of Eugene Oregon they went after me. They filed a false abuse report. I got deaht threats. THIS is worse -by far! This FEIND has no love, or RESPECT, for my ancestors. She feeds off them. They pay her rent and buy her a new car. https://rosamondpress.com/…/meet-snitty-cynthia-karpa…/

  • Greg PrescoBelmont appears to be seen as a conservative stronghold? If true – why! The area to Santa Cruz and Big Sur has been a Mecca for Bohemian types who created a ten billion dollar a year alternative economic reality – that everyone can use due to the coronavirus. Established restaurants are closing for good. How come a group of conservatives did not save the Cliff House? You need someone like me who is not afraid to ask the hard questions. Perhaps the solutions are real easy? http://hilltromper.com/…/la-honda-creek-open-space…

William Janke on Haight St.

Posted on June 9, 2012 by Royal Rosamond Press

William August Janke, the son of Carl August Janke of Belmont, lived in a Victorian house at 320 Haight St. a a block and a half from Fillmore St. Carl founded what may be the oldest theme park in America that catered to members of the Odd Fellows who lived in San Francisco. Carl Janke hired a special train to bring people to his theme park modeled after a German folk town and beergarten. Carl owned the Belmont soda works and sold a drink that may have contained cocaine. Carl made a jail for his town because folks got out of hand. Consider the Haight-Ashbury that was the haven for the Hippie Movement, that got out of hand. It became a theme-park that attracted folks from all over the world, and was the focal point of the war on drugs.

Consider the rise of the Republican religious-right that has become very powerful by opposing and demonizing the fun time my kindred were having – before California became a state! You could say my good buds and I made them what they are to day, fake political Puritans that destroyed our economy, and spent a trillion dollar on the Bush holy war. Too bad there is no longer a land of the free to go to out west, that is not under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government of the United States, so we can do what we want – and have more fun! Making fun is a huge industry, verses making blue laws.

Google 320 Haight to see my great grandfather’s home (grey-blue) and 2795 Pine St. to see the second story apartment I lived in with Nancy Hamren, Keith Purvis, and Carrol Schurter. Two members of the Jefferson Airplane partied with us, and hung out the bay window while on acid trying to cause an accident – which they did!

Keith, Tim O’Connor, Peter Shapiro, and myself, lived in a large Victorian house in Oakland. That is us on a bridge in Venice California. Peter played with The Marbles that played at the longshoremen’s Hall, and later with the Loading Zone at the Fillmore. Zone members also lived with us in Oakland.

Bryan McLean of Love sang at my wedding, and was good friends of the folks that began the Renaissance Fair, another theme park. Disney studied Fairyland in Oakland for his theme park. Add to this my conection to Elmer ‘Big Bones’ Remmer, gambling, and Tanforan horse racing, then you can say my kindred started the greatest party of all time!

Here is the obituary of William in the San Francisco Call.

JANKE – in this city, Nov. 22, 1902 at his residence 320 Haight St. William August Janke, beloved husband of Cornelia L. Janke, and beloved father of Mrs. W.O. Stuttmeister and Carl and W.E. Janke, a native of Hamburg Germany aged 59 years. Internment, Laurel Hill

“According to Belmont Historical Society records, Dorothea and Carl August Janke sailed around Cape Horn from Hamburg, Germany, in 1848. After landing in San Francisco, they settled in Belmont in 1860”

I found Carl and Dorothea (also and Doretta) are buried at the Union Cemetary in Redwood City.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF UNION CEMETERY
By: John G. Edmonds

Times and Gazette Building
The first entry that mentioned a cemetery in the Times and Gazette (which was the only newspaper in San Mateo County at that time) was in early January 1859. William Cary Jones had allowed 13 burials on his property, the site of today’s Sequoia High School. Now that Horace Hawes had taken over the property, he informed the county that he no longer wanted the dead to be buried on his property and he wanted all 13 bodies exhumed and moved elsewhere. This caused great anxiety in Redwood City.

Belmont park has history of sun, libations, mystery and disasters

October 22, 2001, 12:00 AM By Paul D. Buchanan Daily Journal Feature Writer

The most popular daytime excursion destination on the Peninsula during the late 19th century once occupied the area in Belmont now known as Twin Pines Park. The Belmont Picnic Grounds proved so popular, in fact, that scores of picnickers would travel regularly from San Jose and San Francisco for sun, fresh air and libations.
The size of the crowds and the fondness for libation, however, eventually led to the attraction’s demise.
According to Belmont Historical Society records, Dorothea and Carl August Janke sailed around Cape Horn from Hamburg, Germany, in 1848. After landing in San Francisco, they settled in Belmont in 1860. Industrious and entrepreneurial, Carl Janke purchased land in the vicinity of 6th and Ralston. Janke set out to create a site for leisure activities, modeled after the biergarten in his native Hamburg. His creation became Belmont Park.
Janke’s park offered all the necessary provisions for an outdoor holiday, which included a dance pavilion to accommodate 300 large glassless windows, a conical roof and a dance floor situated around a large spreading tree. The pavilion was also equipped with a bar, an ice cream parlor and a restaurant.
Outside the pavilion, the park provided a carousel for children, footpath bridges crossing the meandering of creeks, and a shooting gallery, with picnic benches and lathe houses situated about the shady grounds. Brass bands performing from bandstands could be heard all around the woodland.
In 1876, Janke opened Belmont Soda Works, located north of Ralston along Old County Road. Janke’s sons, Gus and Charlie, operated the soda works, which offered a variety of sarsaparillas. Within two years, the Soda Works produced more than 1,000 bottles a month — a large percentage of which would be sold at Belmont Park. Between the Soda Works and the several bars situated in and around the park, the liquid refreshment flowed abundantly.
Belmont Park became so popular that Southern Pacific Railroad began reserving exclusive trains for the sojourn to Belmont. Several local organizations and fraternities used the grounds for the celebrations, such as the Germania Rifles, the Apollo Verein, the Blue Bells, the Bunker Hill Association, the Ignatian Literary Society, the Hibernians and the Purple Violets. Races – foot, three-legged, and pony cart – as well as other amusements became commonplace at the gatherings.
The same year the Belmont Soda Works opened, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) hired 75 Southern Pacific railroad cars to transport 7,000 of its members from San Francisco to Belmont Park. There, 1,000 other members met them there, making the largest picnic ever held at Belmont Park.
With all the alcohol, dancing and overheated bodies gathered in a relatively small place, trouble seemed destined to follow.
In 1880, rival gangs started a small riot at Belmont Park, leaving one person dead and several injured. On another occasion, a young girl named Anne Mooney mysteriously disappeared. Authorities assumed she had been kidnaped, but a suspect was never identified. The fate of Anne Mooney remains a mystery.
By the turn of the century, the weekly treks to Belmont had become something of a nuisance. The drunken tussling would often begin at the on-board bars, continuing and intensifying by the time the passengers reached Belmont. The small communities through which the trains rumbled complained about the outsiders cavorting and otherwise disturbing their peaceful Peninsula neighborhoods. Southern Pacific, tired of the rowdies and the damage inflicted to the railroad cars, finally stopped operating the excursions in 1900.
In her book “Heritage of the Wooded Hills,” Ria Elena MacCrisken writes, “… if the railroad looked down its nose at the San Francisco picnickers, the little town of Belmont welcomed them with open arms. These early-day tourists brought lively times to Belmont and revenue to its stores…” Unfortunately for the Jankes , when the train stopped bringing carloads of revelers, much of Belmont Park’s clientele disappeared.
By 1910, the property had sold to George Center, the director of the Bank of California, who built a home on the property. Later Dr. Norbert Gottbrath opened a sanitarium called “Twin Pines,” which operated until March of 1972. The City of Belmont took over the property, dedicating Twin Pines Park in June of 1973.

About the Cemetery

Union Cemetery is the first and one of the oldest burial grounds in San Mateo County.

First opened in 1859 on a six-acre triangle of land, Union Cemetery is one of the oldest burial grounds in San Mateo County. Located on the north side of Woodside Road and just west of El Camino Real, it was originally a little over one mile outside of downtown Redwood City.

Union Cemetery was founded when Horace Hawes, who owned the land that is now the site of Sequoia High School, would no longer allow people to be buried on his property at Broadway and El Camino. A committee was formed and decided on the current location with the financial assistance of Mr. Hawes. The first burial was in March of 1859. There are plots designated for the Grand Army of the Republic, the Masons, IOOF (the Independent Order of Odd Fellows) and the Improved Order of Red Men. Over the years, Union Cemetery became the final resting place for lumbermen, merchants, shopkeepers and judges, among others. It has officially been closed for burials since 1918, unless a family already owned a plot. For years thereafter however, Redwood City administrators utilized it as a paupers’ field; those unable to afford a burial place were able to inter loved ones here.

Because Union Cemetery had been deeded to the State of California until 1926, no local organization was responsible for its care and upkeep. It fell into disrepair and became overgrown and unsightly. Vandals damaged or removed some burial markers. Many groups, including the San Mateo Historic Association, Redwood City Parks & Rec Dept., the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), and the Redwood City Council made improvements like fencing and headstone repair. Individuals compiled photographic and written records and sought designation as a historic site from California and the federal government.

Union Cemetery in Redwood City officially opened in 1859.

Very few graveyards existed when Union Cemetery opened on land arranged for by pioneer Horace Hawes (who owned more than 2,000 acres), this one was the first legitimized with official status by both county and the state. Many of the original monuments, placed when Union Cemetery opened in 1859 and in decades thereafter, have been vandalized, broken or lost. Markers, once lovingly fashioned at home out of wood, have long since deteriorated. Some original stones have been carried away to adorn home gardens or for safe keeping. Early visitors to the grounds recalled that one wood marker simply had the word “Chinaman,” scribbled on it. Another just stated: “Unknown man found hanged.” Neither still exist.

A small, faded marble marker, usually unnoticed but prominently located along the cemetery’s main axis, identifies the burial site of four-year-old Annie M. Douglass, the first of approximately 2,400 people buried here. Thirteen bodies (10 children and 3 adults), originally interred on a site owned by Horace Hawes near today’s Sequoia High School, amid considerable public indignation, were exhumed and brought to Union Cemetery for reburial in 1859.

Union Cemetery is a California Historic Landmark

Union Cemetery contains special plots for the Masonic Order, members of the International Order of Odd Fellows, the Improved Order of Red Men and the Californians who fought during the Civil War.

At the east corner of the grounds, in a small grassy plot, atop an eight-foot granite pedestal, is the statue of a Union Army soldier. There are 38 graves of veterans buried here. But while most were veterans of the Civil War, none died in combat. Some survived the war by many decades. All came to California after the war and belonged to the Peninsula Chapter of the Grand Army of the Republic. One, James Peace, not a war veteran, received acclaim in 1846, following the Americanization of California, for raising the first American flag in San Mateo County.

The Grand Army of the Republic was open to honorably discharged members on the Union side. It was created to offer political and personal support to veterans.

Not until 1889 did the Redwood City chapter of the Grand Army of the Republic raise funds for the construction of an appropriate monument to adorn their plot. Mrs. Leland Stanford contributed $1,000 for a life-sized, gun-toting, zinc-cast figure of a Union soldier.

At least in part, that explains why Union Cemetery is a California Historic Landmark and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Click here to see History of How the Cemetery Came to Be

This was placed in the cemetery during Memorial Day observances of 1889. It was toppled and broken in 1958, 1959 and 1969. Each time the statue has been repaired or replaced.

Since 1889, Union Cemetery has been the site of the longest-lived Memorial Day observance on the Peninsula. Sponsored by the Historic Union Cemetery Association, American flags were prominent, a band played, citizens sang and children placed flowers  on the graves of veterans.

Summoning The Muse of Sir Sterling London Joaquin Lord de Rosemond

During the Summer of Love, and the renewal of Bohemian activity in the Bat Area on a grand scale, only I seemed to be aware of Sterling, London, and Joaquin ‘The Trail Blazers’ who had gone before us into the wilderness, and carved out Bohemian Sanctuaries, groves, wherein we worshipped the Queen of Druids – our Grand Bohemian Muse!

“Hail Brother Bohemians – Lovers of the Grand Beloved Muse!”

With the return of the Muse that Bill and I followed, and who rendered my late sister a world famous artist, can the re-capture of the Creative Spirit that has fallen into hands of the Un-Creative of the World – commence!

In discovering that my great grandfather, Carl Janke, was the first to build a Bohemian Community and Retreat in Belmont California – that he co-founded – put my family history next door to the Bohemian Grove in Monte Rio.

Five years ago after learning Rena Easton was married to a Commodore, and lived in the Isle of Wight, I had fantasies of what happened after we met. After my friend Bryan drops us off in Oakland – after he tried to kidnap Rena on Pismo Beach – I drive her down to the Oakland Estuary where my seventy foot yacht is moored. WE are now all alone down in the industrial train yards. There is not a soul around. I take her hand and guide her aboard. We go down below where I perform a superb removal of her apprehension. Why shouldn’t she be leery of this dark sailor man, this Hermit of the Sea.

Above is a photo of my small sailboat that I lived on. I was a tad ashamed to show it, until Rena told me in her letter about her small dwelling.

When Rosemary was showing us the family photos, her children perked up when we beheld these antique people having a picnic in the Oakland Redwoods where we used to have picnics.

“Who are these people, mother?”
“Those are your father’s people, the Bohunks.”
“Bohunks!” We exclaimed. “What’s a Bohunk?”
“Bohunks are Bohemians.” our mother answered with some concern.

What harm could it do these innocent children to know they have Bohunk blood in their veins? As long as they never learn my father was a Hillbilly, smitten by a Redneck Muse that he named ‘Ravola of Thunder Mountain’.

I am a very Lucky Man!

There were old growth redwood trees near Belmont and Redwood city that were harvested. Carl Janke built his theme park on Belmont Creek a watershed that came down from the hills. This was an ideal habitation for giant redwoods that could be seen by sailors on the bay. It must have been an incredible and beautiful sight that would have appealed to a German who traitinally love the forests.

“In the hundred years since the Huddart Park area was logged, a new forest of redwoods and other trees have grown, covering much of the evidence of this early logging activity. However, still visible are large stumps of the virgin redwoods and “skid roads” over with the teams of oxen dragged logs to the sawmills.

If Janke brought his six portable houses around the Cape on a Clipper in 1848, instead of 1849 as some say, then Carl did not do so to sell them to gold miners who struck it rich, but to create a utopian city and haven for people all over the world who would come to behold these giant redwoods. Were the founders of Bohemian Grove inspired by Janke’s Turnverien free-thinker dream? Jack London, George Sterling, and Joaquin Miller, were members of the Bohemian Grove. Miller knew the Stuttmeisters who had a farm down the hill from ‘The Heights’ where artists and poets met. Miller wrote ‘City Beautiful’ . Above are photos of the Stuttmeisters and Brodericks having a picnic in the redwoods. Miller planted trees all over the Oakland Hills. The Stuttmeisters built forty home in Fruit Vale on streets they named after trees. Here are your Hobbits, your Gandalf’s, your Magical Men that made California a Mecca for those who use their mind, believe thinking is the best way to travel.

Months after my sister’s death I went to the Sacramento Library and looked at microfish about a legal battle between the heirs of Carl Janke’s estate in Belmont that appeared in the San Francisco Call. I lost the copy I made of that article that I am certain mentioned William O. Stuttmeister, and the sisters of Augusta Stuttmeister-Janke. Carl’s sons did not want Minni and Cornillia, to have anything, and one brother (or cousin) took their side, and was cut out. This has to be William, or W. JANKE. “The bride was attended by Miss Alice Stuttmeister, a sister of the groom, and Miss Minnie Janke, a sister of the bride, as bridesmaids, and Dr. Muldownado and Wm. Janke, a cousin of the bride, were groomsmen.” When Victor Presco turned twenty-one, the the Janke spinsters offered him a moving company in San Francesco. Apparently they saw him as the heir to the Stuttmiester legacy, and the Hope of a return to former glory because they had no children. How about their brother, William? Rosemary said this; “Your father was a made man.” Two days ago, in an e-mail, my cousin Daryl Bulkley confirmed my suspicions that ‘Stuttmeister’ was not the original name of the folks from Berlin. I suspect they were a branch of the Glucksburg family who became Calvinist Evangelicals, and perhaps Rosicrucians. In the top photo we see Minni and Corniallia Janke in the family vault that William Stuttmeister purchased for $10,000 dollars to put the reains of the Jankes and Stuttmeisters in after they were evicted from the Oddfellow cemetery. That William Ralston was a Oddfellow that put up a large sum of money to establish the Oddfellows in Germany – and perhaps elsewhere – makes me wonder about his alleged suicide by plunging into the bay. I am reading articles on the internet about the Oddfellows being the founders of the Welfare State in America, where being charitable to the poor, the infirmed, and the widows, was paramount. They also paid much attention to burying their dead, which suggests they believed in a different hereafter. As a theologian I have pointed out the strange raising of the dead in Matthew 27:53 at the very moment of Jesus’ alleged death.

I suspect Judas was given thirty pieces of silver to purchase Jesus’ tomb, and Jesus was about to practice the ancient Judaic ritual called of the RESUSCITATION, where the soul of the diseased enters the body of another. I believe this is why those who take the Nazarite Vow are bid to keep their distance from the dead. That the Oddfellows titled women as Rebekahs, suggests they are Rechabites, who have been associated with the Nazarites who composed the first Christian church called “The Church of God”. That Jesus came to be seen as God “the Father” is a usurption that began with Paul of Tarsus. That the fall of the Oddfellows in the Bay Area happened overnight, and all traces of their demise, all but disappeared, tells me there was a real Judas and purge. That Daryl pointed out in her research that we knew next to nothing about the Stuttmeisters, whose tomb was lost until seven years ago, tells me William Stuttmeister retired to the Geronimo Valley a disillusioned man, who played a rare violin, and left his Stuttmeister-Janke legacy to his housekeeper. And then he is dead, his remains put in the vault that I went to visit with my daughter and grandson. Before I left for California I told my friend Joy Gall, that I wanted a AA coin to put in this tomb in honor of Christine Rosamond Benton whose funeral fell on he first sober birthday in AA. As I lined up to view my sister in her casket, I did consider the Nazarite Vow I took in 1989. As fate would have it, I ended up putting this coin in William Oltman Stuttmeisters crypt because there was an opening made by the earthquake of 1989.

On this coin is an Angel. In 1992 I began a biography of my family called ‘Bonds With Angels’. It begins with an account of the Blue Angel that appear at the foot of Christine’s bed that woke her and Vicki, who crawled into Christine’s bed and beheld her. Vicki was six years of age, and is clean and sober this day. The Nazarite Vow bids one to not ingest alcohol, not get drunk, so that the Holy Spirit may speak through you, use you as a Horn of Power to broadcast the Word of God. When I entered the tomb of my ancestors and sat down on the marble bench, I noticed the letter A made of brass lying behind the faux fern plant. I picked it up. It was the A in JANKE that had come lose in the earthquake. I looked up at the stained glass window and read; “In loving memory of my beloved wife, Augusta Stutteister,” Was Augusta the Angel that came to visit my sisters? May our bonds with Angels continue – forever more! Amen! Jon Presco Daily Alta California, Volume 42, Number 14175, 24 June 1888 STUTTMEISTER-JANKE. One of the most enjoyable weddings of the past week took place at Belmont, Wednesday morning last, the contracting parties being Miss Augusta Janke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Janke of Belmont,
and Dr. Wm. Stuttmeister of San Francisco. The house was handsomely decorated with a rich profusion of ferns and flowers, and at the appointed hour was filled with the relatives and intimate friends
of the contracting parties. At 11 o’clock the wedding march was played and the bridal party entered the parlor. The bride was attended by Miss Alice Stuttmeister, a sister of the groom, and Miss Minnie Janke, a sister of the bride, as bridesmaids, and Dr. Muldownado and Wm. Janke, a cousin of the bride, were groomsmen. The Rev. A. L. Brewer
of San Mateo performed the beautiful and impressive ceremony under an arch composed of flowers and greens very prettily arranged, after which the guests pressed forward and offered their congratulations. The bride was attired in a very pretty and becoming costume of the crushed strawberry shade, and wore a corsage bouquet of orange
blossoms. She carried a handsome bouquet of white flowers. After the guests had paid their compliments the bride and groom led the way to the dining-room, where the wedding dinner was served and the health
of the newly married pair was pledged. The feast over, the guests joined in the dance, and the hours sped right merrily, interspersed with music singing and recitations, until the bride and groom took their departure amid a shower of rice and good wishes. Many beautiful presents were received. Dr. and Mrs. Stuttmeister left Thursday morning for Santa Cruz and Monterey, where they will spend the honeymoon. On their return they will make their home in Belmont. 1911: Dr. Willian O. Stuttmeister was practicing dentistry in Redwood City, CA. (Reference: University of California, Directory of Graduates,

Editor’s Note: On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, FBI and local police descended on a home in Redwood City looking for clues related to the disappearance of Ylva Hagner.

On the 25th of September 1996, the fifth class of the Master of Liberal Arts Program met in the History Building on the Main Quad at Stanford University. We were a disparate group; there was a physician, a librarian, a biology teacher and a few stay-at-home moms like myself, all eager to return to school as adults purely for the joy of learning. We ranged in age from mid-20s to the 70s, and many of us had not entered a classroom in decades.

The introductory class for the program was, for a number of years, “The Plague: An Introduction to Interdisciplinary Graduate Study,” taught by Dr. Linda Paulson. While it might seem like a strange and unusual topic, the study of the plague (in many forms, places and eras) lent itself well to the theme of interdisciplinary study.

In addition to the many books written on the subject, the class syllabus also included guest speakers from a wide range of disciplines: medicine, literature, art history, theology and philosophy.

As we went around the room that night introducing ourselves, our nervousness was apparent, except for one person who could barely contain her enthusiasm. Her name was Ylva Hagner, in her early 40s with gorgeous red hair and blue eyes. Ylva was Swedish, lived in Palo Alto and worked at a software company in Belmont. She had a lilting laugh and was clearly enjoying herself.

In the third week of class, Ylva was absent. She had last been seen just before our class at her office. The weeks went by, and it was clear that something terrible had happened. Like many missing person cases, there was an initial flurry of interest in finding her that then lapsed into a cold case.

Our class moved on, with most of us finishing the program in four or five years. Ylva’s disappearance cast a pall upon our Stanford experience, even though we got to spend so little time with her. Over the years, as we met at social gatherings or Continuing Studies classes, the question often arose – “How could someone just disappear without a trace?”

September 2021 marked 25 years since that first class, and I found myself thinking more and more about Ylva. Recent developments in DNA technology had brought closure to several highly publicized murder cases that had occurred near or on campus. Will we be around if, and when, Ylva’s case is solved?

The Plague class brilliantly illustrated the many facets of a sweeping pandemic: we laughed at Boccaccio’s characters, telling humorous tales to distract from the fear of illness, and the crazy bird-like masks worn by plague doctors (not realizing we would all, one day, be masked).

We were awed by the sheer numbers of people who died as The Black Death raged through Europe and how one type of plague was caused by the fleas on rats. We could not imagine people finding scapegoats to blame for a deadly virus or those who felt it was an angry retribution from God.

We learned all these things, in the abstract, from our readings and lectures – but the random, unfair and illogical specter of death was brought home to us, in reality, by Ylva Hagner.

FBI, police search for evidence, remains in Redwood City in Ylva Hagner case, Stanford student missing since 1996

BELMONT — Authorities were conducting a search for evidence and possible remains in Redwood City related to the disappearance of Ylva Hagner, a Palo Alto resident and Stanford student missing since 1996.

Belmont Police said the activity was happening at Stulsaft Park on the 3700 Block of Farm Hill Blvd. in Redwood City. The park was closed during the activity and police said it would be re-opened later Wednesday morning.

Adjacent to the park, FBI agents and evidence technicians were seen removing paving stones from a yard at a home on Farm Hill Blvd. and it appeared a digging operation was set to begin.

The San Mateo District Attorney’s Office and the Belmont Police Department have confirmed that the search is connected to Hagner’s disappearance.

“The case has been refocused and we are conducting an investigation in Redwood City into the whereabouts of Ylva Hagner,” said Belmont Police Lt. Pete Lotti. “In the hopes of bringing some closure in the case.”

Lotti didn’t say what clues led them to this area or why this house is connected to the case, but he confirmed that the investigation was ongoing.

Property records show the Farm Hill Blvd. house was purchased by Thomas Pressburger in March of 1996, about seven months before Hagner disappeared. The San Francisco Chronicle named Pressburger as Hagner’s boyfriend at the time. He is still listed as the property’s owner.

The 42-year-old Hagner was last seen on Oct. 14, 1996 at her place of employment, IXOS Software, a software firm located in Belmont at the time.  The last person known to see Hagner was an executive of the company, who departed from the office at 9:30 p.m., leaving Hagner alone to finish her shift and lock up.

“Ylva was working Silicon Valley type hours, coming in late, working late,” Mike Speak, a Belmont Police Detective who was assigned to the case, told the San Mateo Daily Journal in 2017.  “So it was not unusual for her to be working that late.”

Her black 1992 Honda Civic with the California license plate number 2BBS966 was discovered abandoned on October 17, 1996, three days after she initially disappeared.  The car was unlocked and the keys were still in the ignition.

Her disappearance set off a massive effort to locate her.  Missing person flyers were distributed around the Bay Area.

Originally from Sweden, Hagner was unmarried and renting a house in Palo Alto with two roommates at the time of her disappearance. She was studying for a master’s degree in liberal arts at Stanford.

Wednesday’s search happened blocks away from where Carolina Aburto works as a babysitter.

Aburto, who is originally from Mexico, expressed her concern about safety in the country and how the thought of anything happening worries her, especially because she has two children.

Aburto feels connected to Hagner’s story because Hagner was also an immigrant from Sweden. Despite the 27 years since Hagner’s disappearance, Aburto hopes this new search can bring some closure to the family.

“Why does it take so much time to find a body?” Aburto said. “It’s too long without knowing what happened to this woman.”

Jon- I began working on  that   connection  which  will be in  my book.  This connection takes careful documentation and a lot of research.  The time period fits. There is material on this and its true.

What documentary is the History Channel making ?   Why are they asking this ?

The  History Channel’s documentary “Holy Grail in America” came from a geologist Scott Wolter who found  this odd mark called a Hooked X on several stones in 5 sites here.   He claimed that the Templars/Cistercians carved the runic mark -the hooked X.  He’s wrong but they made the documentary.

This is the guy who is trying to steal my work.

Dear Zena;

I too enjoyed our talk on the phone. I watched your presentation. Here is the suggestion that the Hambley’s descend from the Phoenicians. I wonder if there is a Hambely DNA project? I know I can get my friend, Virginia Hambley, to take a test. She has a classic hooked nose that Phoenician royalty had, a kingly nose. Also, witches in Egnland had this nose. Were they priestesses of Baal? Her English grandmother was a Craven.

If you can do a DNA test on several Hambleys in Cornwall for your book, and establish there origin, this will blow the Sinclair claims out of the water! A real lineage of ancient sailors and tin miners who are kin to Hiram.

Also, Bathsheba was a Hittite and King David’s wife. The Hittles went with Alexander the Great into India. The High Priest at Jeruaslem gave Alexander the Nehushtan ‘brazen serpent ‘ to ward off snakes in India. The name Alexander means “elixir” a potion against poison. Consider the snake mound in the Americas.Aaron made a brazen serpent to go before the multitude in the wilderness to ward off posoness snakes..

On the Nunez family crest you find three fleurs-de-lis that are also found on the crest of Doctor Mendes da Costa. I have traced his lineage to Narbonne France where for a little while a Judaic Kingdom existed.

NUNES/NUNEZ

The story has been told that all Nunes/Nunez families were originally Jewish from Israel who escaped from the Assyrians when they captured the city of Jerusalem . They scattered to the ends of the earth; some made their way to Spain and Portugal , and still others to Europe . In the late 1500’s there was the Inquisition that forced all Jews to convert to Roman-Catholicism or die, many of them converted, many died and many ran away to Hawaii or the Caribbean. Most converted to whatever religion they felt met their needs and many went back to their Jewish heritage.

The NUNES family is a direct descendent of the royal house of King DAVID of ISRAEL . The Nunes family went to Spain about 2000 years ago, during the time of King Nebuchanezer (king of Assyria ). He conquered Israel and “kicked” out the royal family. From there the Nunes family (formerly known as Ben-Nun) went to Greece to Italy to Spain and Portugal . They lived there in peace and equality under the Moorish-Muslim Empire of the Al-Andalucians and the Al-Mohads, then came the Christians (Roman Catholics) and conquered the land from the Moors. For about 500 years there was no problem but in the 1800s Spain began eliminating the Jewish and Muslim families because they wanted to make Spain an all Catholic country so the Jewish people ran to Portugal and the Muslims ran to Morroco. Spain threathened Portugal to do the same, which Portugal did. It was the first Holocaust, it was the Inquisition. Portugal and Spain forced all Jews (Nunes, Pereira, Lopes, Rodrigues, Fernandes, Torres, etc…..) to convert to Roman Catholicism and if they didn’t convert they would be killed in the AUTOS DE FE in Lisbon . Many Jewish people did convert so they wouldn’t die but a few ran away to Brazil , Eastern Europe, and the Carribean Islands . In the early 1900s Portugal and Spain became “RELIGIOUS FREEDOM” nations. This movement helped many of the Jewish descendents to return to their faith. There are now about 200,000 Jews and Muslims in Portugal . It has been said that ALL NUNES FAMILIES ARE JEWISH ANCESTRY. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS….

DR. SAMUEL NUNES, a former court physician in Spain was a practicing Catholic; however, in secret he was a SEPHARDIC JEW. When things got to bad in Spain , Dr. Nunez organized a plan to take his family away to London , England . One night they had a party and in the attendees was a ship captain. The party toured the ship and set sail for London , England that night. In 1732 there were 6,000 Jews living in London . All but eight of the original forty-two Jewish colonists were Spanish/Portuguese Jews who had arrived in London ten years earlier, having lived as Crypto-Jews, publicly practicing Roman Catholicism and secretly preserving their Jewish heritage, prior to their departure from Portugal. Among these sephardic Jews was Dr. Samuel Nunes Ribiero, a physician who had been imprisoned during the Inquisition for his successful efforts to convert New Christians back to the Jewish faith. It was in England that SAMUEL and his wife REBECCA were remarried in a Jewish ceremony. Rebecca gave birth to a son whom both died afterwards in England . Samuel with his mother, ZIPPORAH NUNES, and grown children set sail to America with other Jewish families on the WILLIAM and SARAH. Forty-two brave pioneering Jews, the “largest group of Jews to land in North America in Colonial days” arrived in SAVANNAH on July 11, 1733, just five months after General James Edward Oglethorpe established the colony of Georgia

Jon-  I’ve been studying  the LOS LUNAS DECALOGUE STONE FOR 20 YEARS!    IVE. BEEN THERE 3 X’S- IV’E WRITTEN ABOUT IT.  CYRUS GORDON THE GREAT BIBLICAL SCHOLAR AND SEMITICIST HAS WRITTEN ABOUT IT.  THAT STONE IS SIMPLY A FORM OF PALEO HEBREW . GORDON SUGGESTED IT WAS SAMARITAN.  I HAVE A TON OF RESEARCH ON IT.  IT IS OF COURSE EVIDENCE OF ANCIENT VOYAGERS TO THE SOUTHWEST. I HAVE DOCUMENTED WHAT IS ON THE TOP OF THE MESA AND THE CONNECTION TO MINING FOR TURQUOISE IN THE PUERCO VALLEY CA. 4TH CENTURY BCE
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ZIONISM—

The Los Lunas Decalogue Stone bears a very regular inscription carved into the flat face of a large boulder on the side of Hidden Mountain, near Los Lunas, New Mexico, about 35 miles south of Albuquerque. The inscription is interpreted by some to be an abridged version of the Decalogue or Ten Commandments in a form of Paleo-Hebrew. A letter group resembling the tetragrammaton YHWH, or “Yahweh,” makes four appearances. The stone is controversial in that some claim the inscription is Pre-Columbian, and therefore proof of early Semitic contact with the Americas.

“At the time of the American Revolution the East India Company flag would have been identical to the Grand Union Flag. The flag probably inspired the Stars and Stripes (as argued by Sir Charles Fawcett in 1937). [10] Comparisons between the Stars and Stripes and the Company’s flag from historical records present some convincing arguments.”

Christian authors in England and Europe were indentifying 1666 as an appocolyptic year. No doubt this was due to the numbers 666 which denotes ‘The Beast’ in Revelations. It is suggested the Sephardic Messiah, Sabbatai, believed in this prophecy, or, if he was a false-Messiah, exploited it. History tells us Mennesseh ben Israel exploited English Millenarianism when he appealed to Cromwell to let the Sepharid Jews return to England. Ben Israel (son of Israel) dedicated his book ‘The Hope of Israel’ to Cromwell. In this work of prophecy Ben Israel claims Messianic redemption would come to the Jewish people only when they are scattered to all the corners of the world, and especially England from where they were bannished. Did some Christian leaders believe this Jewish Messiah would be the second coming of Jesus?

The Puritans subscribed to what is called Judeo-centrism that considered the prophecies of Ben Israel and the Sepharid Messiah, Sabbatai. Cromwell was a Puiitan who let the Jews back into England at Ben Israel’s urging. However, there was another motive, Cromwell wanted the backing of the Sephardic Jewish bankers. He got it. These bankers produced large sums of money to put down the Jacobites in 1748.

Ben Israel believed some North American Indians were of the Lost Tribes of Israel. A week ago I discovered the Los Lunas Decalogue Stone. At first I believed it was the work of a Sephardic Kabbalists that accompnaied Coronado, but, this stone might be the work of Sephardic Jews from Brazil who were searcing for the a lost tribe of Israel, and had folowed Ben Israel and Sebbatai.

Yesterday I discovered that Diego Teixeira Sampayo (Abraham Senior Teixeira) is a descendant of Don Abraham Senior the Nasi Prince Exilarch descended from King David.

“Don Manuel’s father, Diego Teixeira Sampayo (Abraham Senior Teixeira), a descendant of Don Abraham Senior in the female line, was ennobled at Anvers (Antwerp) in 1643 (Rietstap, Armorial Général, Precedé d’un Dictionnaire des Termes du Blason, 2nd ed., 2 vols. Gouda, 1887, vol. ii, p. 891; Rietstap, Wapenboek van den Nederlandschen Adel, vol. ii, p. 87). He later settled in Hamburg, where he was known simply as the ‘rich Jew’. He rode in an ornate carriage upholstered with velvet, had liveried servants, and kept a princely house, which, in 1654, was for some time the residence of Queen Christina of Sweden, to whom Diego had been recommended by the Spanish ambassador”

William of Orange and his Glorious Revolution, was backed by Sephardic Bankers. It is suggested Nassau Thomas Senior took the name Nassau from John Maurice of Nassau who was close kin of William of Orange. He was the head of the Order of St. John. John Maurice took back Sephardic Brazil from the Catholics. I suspect John Maurice was the head of the West Indies Trading Company whose flag looks very similar to the first flag of the United States, called the flag of the Grand Union. This flag was flown by the American ship the Andrea Doria when it sailed into the harbor of St. Eustatius that was owned by the East Indies Trading Company. The commander of Fort Orange returned the salute made by the captain of the Andrea Doria that consisted of thirteen vollies from the ships cannons. I suspect these thirteen shots were sounded for the thirteen red and white stripes on the new flag of the American Revolution that I suspect was a continuation of the Glorious Revolution of the House of Orange/Nassau. However, this Revolution was enjoined by the Sephardic Jews who followed the Judaic Messiah, Sabbatai, and thus these thirteen stribes may have also stood for for the red and white rose of Zohar.

The commander of Fort Orange was Abraham Raven. He is a relative of Nassau Thomas Senior and the Exilarch Prince, Don Abraham Senior. The blazon of Diego Teixeira Sampayo Senior depicts five eagles. I suspect this eagle is the source of America’s Eagle, our National Ebblem and Ensign. I suspect the the red cross in the Grand Flag is not the red cross of Saint George, but the red cross of the Knights Templar. I suspect John Maurice Nassau was a Master Mason who introduced the Templar rank. I suspect the first Freemasons were Sephardic stone masons who came to build a new Zion in Brazil.

This New Glorious Revolution was UNITED with the Puritan Exodus in the North. The Puritans showed great respect for the Indians. Did they also believe they were of the Lost Tribes of Israel? Did they believe the OLD world was going to end in 1666, and thus God had brought them to a NEW world?

“Flying the flag of Grand Union on its stern flagstaff the Andrea Doria entered the harbor of St. Eustatius on 16 November 1776. As the Andrea Doria backed its topsails to slow its headway in preparation for dropping anchor, Captain Isaac Robinson the vessel’s commander decided to make a conspicuous entry into port. Robinson ordered the striped Grand Union of the Republic flag, the recently adopted American banner, dipped and a cannon salute fired from the vessel’s deck. According to maritime custom, a returned salute was the appropriate response of their host state.

Abraham Raven, the commander of the Orange fort, assumed that the unfamiliar flag might be that of a rebel American warship and realized that returning a salute would offend the British. Raven sent a message for instructions to Johannes de Graaff, the island’s governor and was ordered to answer the salute. After some minutes passed, nine puffs of gun gray-white smoke arose from the walls of the fort followed by a salute of muffled thumps in cadence.[iv] An historic moment transpired; the American colors had been publicly recognized by a European power.[v] These brief cannon reports also turned out to be an expression of diplomatic indiscretion. This seemingly minor form of acknowledgment was contrary to the foreign policy of the Dutch government.

When news of the incident reached the neighboring island of St. Christopher (St. Kitts), its British governor, Craister Greathead, sent a vehement protest to Governor de Graaff saying that “this Port always made and still makes distinction between Merchant or Private Vessells and the Ships of War belonging to Sovereign States”

“The name ‘Nassau’, which was borne first by Nassau Thomas Senior (d 1786), elder son of (Moses) Aaron Senior (d 1736), may have originally been adopted in honour of John Maurice of Nassau (1604-1679), Prince of Nassau-Siegen and Governor of the Dutch territories in Brazil, prior to the reconquest of these territories by the Portuguese in 1654, when over 5,000 Jews fled that country. One ship carrying 23 Jewish refugees from Brazil went to New Amsterdam (New York), where they formed the nucleus of the Sephardic Jewish community in the USA. Joseph Senior Saraiva’s uncle, David Senior (who was born in about 1575 in Amarante, Portugal, and who died in Recife, Brazil, in 1650) was one of the leading members of the Jewish community in Recife. A more probable alternative is that the name ‘Nassau’ was adopted in honour of William of Orange-Nassau (1650-1702), that is William III, whose seizure of the throne of England in 1688 was financed by Jews, possibly including the Senior family. Jews also financed William III’s later wars against Louis XIV and did much to help London replace Amsterdam as the centre of European finance, a position it holds to this day. It is a curious fact that, on this basis, the famous Bill of Rights of 1689, one of the cornerstones of British democracy, was largely made possible by Jewish finance.”

Don Manuel’s father, Diego Teixeira Sampayo

Influence of English Millenarianism

During the first half of the 17th century, millenarian ideas of the approach of the Messianic time, and more especially of the redemption of the Jews and their return to the land of Israel, with their own independent sovereignty, were popular. The apocalyptic year was identified by Christian authors as 1666. This belief was so dominant that Manasseh ben Israel, in his letter to Oliver Cromwell and the Rump Parliament, did not hesitate to use it as a motive for his plea for the readmission of the Jews into England, remarking “the opinions of many Christians and mine do concur herein, that we both believe that the restoring time of our Nation into their native country is very near at hand”.

Sabbatai’s father, who as the agent of an English house was in constant touch with English people, must frequently have heard of these expectations and, being strongly inclined to believe them, must have communicated them to his son, whom he almost deified because of his piety and kabbalistic wisdom.

The Top 21 Theories About Oak Island

For the better part of two centuries, treasure hunters have been trying, and failing, to extract purported hidden treasure from the bottom of the Money Pit on Canada’s Oak Island. And though the prospect of finding millions of dollars’ worth of buried treasure is exciting enough, there are also dozens of theories attached to the island and its supposed riches. They range from the island being the home of Captain Kidd’s buried treasure to the land’s supposed connection to ancient secret societies such as the Freemasons and Knights Templar—and everything in between.
Here are the top 21 theories about the mystery of Oak Island.
The Captain Kidd Theory
This theory, floated in Season 1: Episode 1 (“What Lies Below”), when the Lagina brothers first took over ownership of the island, holds that Captain Kidd buried his treasure on the island and then cursed it and booby-trapped it, thwarting centuries of treasure hunters. The team explored the matter further in Season 4: Episode 7 (“All That Glitters”), talking things over with author Randall Sullivan.

The Sir Francis Drake Theory
In Season 5: Episode 7 (“The Lot Thickens”), historian Paul Speed suggested that a scrap of leather, purportedly used in the bookbinding process, is tied to the 16th-century privateer and his looting of hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of treasure from a Spanish galleon. This theory further suggests that Drake himself is buried on the island. “When you hit metal, you might have hit his coffin,” said Speed.
The Cathar Theory
The Cathars were a Christian sect active in Europe during the early Middle Ages. In Season 2: Episode 6 (“Seven Must Dye”), the team explored the possibility that the group had access to many of Christendom’s greatest treasures, including the Holy Grail and the Ark of the Covenant. This theory holds that Cathar monks handed off some, if not all, their treasures to the Knights Templar, another medieval Christian sect, for safekeeping. When the Templars were disbanded, their treasures were supposedly secretly removed from Europe—possibly to Oak Island.
The Marie Antoinette Theory
Marie Antoinette was the Queen of France who lost her head in the French Revolution. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the United States. So what is the connection between the two, and what do they have to do with Oak Island? In Season 4: Episode 11 (“Presidential Secrets”), the team spoke with a historian who discussed Roosevelt’s belief that the lost crown jewels of France wound up buried on Oak Island. This theory holds that Marie Antoinette’s gems were given to a servant who spirited them away, possibly to wind up on the island.

The Shakespeare Theory
In Season 1: Episode 4 (“The Secret of Solomon’s Temple”), the brothers met with Petter Amundsen, a Freemason who claims that Shakespeare wrote a coded map that leads to Nova Scotia, not far from Oak Island. He suggested that seemingly random capitalization in Shakespeare’s works, misspelled words and out-of-sequence page numbering might be the code that leads to the treasure—a trove containing not only priceless gold, silver and jewels, but even some lost Shakespeare manuscripts.
The South Shore Theory
According to this theory, 16th-century philosopher and statesman Sir Francis Bacon buried “something incredible” on the island and enacted booby traps above it. In Season 6: Episode 13 (“The Paper Chase”), the brothers met with author Randall Sullivan, who speculated that a book of Bacon’s philosophical writings, published after his death, references the seas, pits, water and shafts—all bearing similarities to the booby traps in the Money Pit.
The Dual Cipher Theory
In Season 2: Episode 5 (“The 90-Foot Stone”), Rick and Marty met with Daniel Ronnstam, a cryptographer who believes that a slab of stone found at a depth of 90 feet holds a different set of clues to the treasure than previously thought. In 1949, Reverend A.T. Kempton, using a simple substitution, determined that the stone reads, “FORTY FEET BELOW TWO MILLION POUNDS ARE BURIED.” Ronnstam, however, believes that the cipher is actually two codes in one, including both the original English reading and a Spanish version that, when translated into English, reads, “AT 80FT GUIDE CORN LONG NARROW SEA INLET DRAIN”—supposed instructions on how to beat the booby traps that flood the pit.

The Money Pit Is Just A Decoy Theory
In Season 3: Episode 11 (“Sword Play”), Rick and Marty met with Mike and Sean Herold, a team of engineers who believe, based on the research of a distant relative who explored the island decades ago, that the Money Pit was a red herring, intended to lead treasure-hunters away from the actual site of the booty. They suggest the real site is just adjacent to the Money Pit, based on the placement of stones. Unfortunately, since those stones were destroyed by earlier expeditions, Rick and Marty had to approximate where to look, and came up empty.
The Star Map Theory
In Season 6: Episode 7 (“Rock Solid”), astrophysicist Dr. Travis Taylor met with the team. Taylor believes that symbols used by Freemasons, as well as a map of the constellation Taurus, overlaid onto a map of Oak Island, reveal that the treasure is on the western side of the island. A brief expedition to some locations suggested in Dr. Taylor’s research failed to turn up anything conclusive.
The Nolan Theory
Fred Nolan, who explored the island and its mysteries for a few decades beginning in the 1950s, believed the man-made carvings and other markings on the island formed a perfectly symmetrical cross, believed to have originated with the Knights Templar, the Christian warrior monks who amassed huge wealth while serving as bankers to Europe’s most powerful medieval kings. In Season 3: Episode 7 (“The Missing Peace”), the team got permission from Mr. Nolan to investigate areas he believed could hold clues to the treasure. A core sample taken at the site revealed a possible void beneath the surface, a find that energized the elderly Mr. Nolan, but failed to yield treasure.

The Sunken Ship Theory
Is it possible that a merchant or pirate ship was deliberately sunk, then buried in quicksand on Oak Island? It’s a prospect explored in Season 3, when Fred Nolan, who believes this theory, presented Rick with evidence of a sunken ship in a swamp on the island. He also believed that the swamp was man-made, deliberately built to obscure a ship buried beneath its depths. In Season 4: Episode 3 (“Swamp Things”), the team went out into the swamp with a professional diver, and found a plank of wood with knots in it, suggesting it had come from a ship. The theory will likely be explored further in Season 7.
The Little Mash Theory
Treasure hunter Gary Clayton met with Rick and Marty in Season 4: Episode 13 (“One of Seven”). Gary owns Little Mash Island, a tiny spit of land a few hundred yards north of Oak Island, which he believes was man-made, possibly by Lord George Anson, an 18th-century British naval commander. Clayton believes there’s a tunnel between his island and Oak Island—with a possible connection to where the purported treasure was buried.
The Portuguese Templar Theory
Several theories suggest that the treasure is tied, in one way or another, to the wealthy and secretive Knights Templar. In Season 3: Episode 4 (“The Overton Stone”), the team traveled to the nearby town of Overton and met with historian Terry Deveau, who believes that a large carved boulder known as “The Overton Stone” commemorates a friendship between Europeans and a local tribe known as the Miꞌkmaq. Deveau thinks the stone carvings were made by a group of Templars who came to the region from Portugal—and who possibly hid treasure on Oak Island.

The Havana Theory
Metal-detection expert Gary Drayton, while exploring Lot 24 in Season 4: Episode 8 (“The Mystery of Samuel Ball”), found a button, coins and a chunk of lead, all believed to date from the 1700s. According to Oak Island historian Charles Barkhouse, the items suggest evidence of a British encampment on the island, possibly following the 1762 British siege of Havana, Cuba, then an important Spanish naval base. The theory goes like this: During the siege, the British looted untold millions in gold from the Spanish, who had themselves stolen it from indigenous Cubans. Then, as the precious cargo was transported north to Halifax, “rogue British naval officers” ordered the ship to Oak Island, where they had the treasure buried.
The Aztec Gold Theory
Author and historian John O’Brien met with the team in Season 3: Episode 6 (“Carved in Stone”), raising the intriguing possibility that Mesoamericans made their way north to Oak Island and buried some of their mythic gold and silver treasure there—to keep it from being stolen by the Spanish.
The Christopher Columbus Theory
Researcher Jeff Irving met with the team during Season 3: Episode 9 (“Columbus Day”), suggesting that the Oak Island treasure may in fact be the Ark of the Covenant, the Old Testament artifact that supposedly contains the stone tablets on which the Bible’s Ten Commandments were written. Irving believes Columbus was connected to the Templars, who ordered the Ark smuggled out of Jerusalem, and that the explorer may have somehow been involved in their efforts to spirit it away to the New World—Oak Island specifically.

The Knights Baronet Theory
In another variation on the Knights Templar theory, Scottish author and historian James McQuiston in Season 6: Episode 20 (“Short Days and Tall Knights”) laid out evidence for the idea that North American descendants of Scottish-based Templars, whose sect went by the name “Knights Baronet,” were among those depositing treasure on the island over the centuries.
The Enochian Chamber Theory
In the Old Testament, Enoch was the great-grandfather of Noah, the man who built the Ark on God’s command. An ancient series of texts used by Freemasons, known as “The Legend of Enoch,” claims that he built an underground chamber to save all the world’s knowledge and treasures from the coming Great Flood. Author Alan Butler met with the team in Scotland, in Season 6: Episode 6 (“Precious Metal”), to explain this belief that the Knights Templar followed Enoch’s lead and built the Money Pit to hold great treasure. In Season 7, the team promises to look more closely at the island’s swamp for possible clues to an Enochian Chamber beneath.
The Zena Halpern Theory
Zena Halpern, one of the myriad authors, treasure hunters, researchers and theorists who have lent expertise to the Lagina brothers’ team, spoke in Season 4: Episode 1 (“Going for Broke”) about a book she’d written, which details supposed 12th-century voyages made to the island by the Templars. In Season 5: Episode 10 (“The Signs of a Cross”), Rick found a lead cross with a loop at the top, like those used by the Templars—purportedly the first physical evidence of Templar activity on the island.

Season 6, Episode 20: Short Days and Tall Knights

The Rochefoucauld Theory
According to this theory, a French nobleman and naval captain named Jean-Baptiste Louis Frederic de La Rochefoucauld, whose family had historic ties to the Knights Templar, was reportedly dispatched with the French Armada to Nova Scotia in the 1700s. In Season 5: Episode 10 (“The Sign of the Cross”), historian Doug Crowell explained to the team that he found evidence in a library that the fleet, led by Rochefoucauld, was carrying treasure. Zena Halpern’s map mentions Rochefoucauld, and a ship’s log purportedly mentioned burying the vessel’s treasure in a pit.
The Founding Fathers Theory
This theory also references Zena Halpern’s map and the name “Rochefoucauld.” As researcher Bruce Lindahl and treasure hunter Justin Cannady explained to the team in Season 6: Episode 22 (“Lost and Founding”), American founding fathers Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson both had connections to Rochefoucauld’s son, Louis Alexander Rochefoucauld. Lindahl and Cannady raise the possibility that Louis Alexander told the prominent colonists about the treasure, so they could finance their war efforts against Great Britain. And in an intriguing twist, the researchers suggest that all the families, both French and American, had ties to the Freemasons and Templars.

Knights Templar and Zena Halpern

Posted on March 13, 2023 by Royal Rosamond Press

“This text is her life’s work. Some believe the story uncovered by her research to be a hoax. If so, it would be the most elaborate hoax in the history of hoaxes.”

Zena Halpern and I exchanged e-mails. I do not recall the year. I believe it was around the time the rival biographer of my family stories, Tom Snyder, tried to get me to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Halpern also wanted me to sing a NDA, before she showed me some amazing information. I was leery, and did not sign any NDAs. At the time it looked like I was the next author due for a book on he Templar-Grail Magdalene subject matter. I believe Halpern wanted to be in my book. Now, she will be.

Yesterday, I discovered for the first time Halpern published a book on the Templars in regards to the Oak Island series. I was researching the fictional genealogy of Victoria Rosemond Bond, when a Templar name came up in regards to the Oak Island Mystery – that I recognized! Zena and Rick Lagina missed it! they failed to strike – pay dirt! I will contact Rick. I believe Zena and I found each other on one of the Templar-Magdalene groups. I started Rennes-le-Hoax because some of the research was questionable – and any conflicting information was being oppressed.

I have not read Halpern’s book. I am willing to read exerts of this book – on television! I will answer questions. They say “Truth is Stanger than fiction”. In this case “Fiction is stranger than the truth – when it becomes – the truth. I have been saying my book ‘The Royal Janitor’ is writing itself – and is coming true. What if Victoria Rosemond Bond, and Miriam Starfish Christling were Goddesses in their past life, and….they meet again! A Viking and Phoenician Goddess – meet on the High Sea! This meeting – rocks half the world! If they unite, they will be a threat to controlling men. They would be forced to created a man-god to walk the earth and out an end to this heavenly duo.

Oak Island’s Mysteries of the Map, House of Rochefoucauld: the Templar Statue and Royston Cave [Print Replica] Kindle Edition

by Gretchen Cornwall (Author)  Format: Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars    5 ratings

Did the Templars bury a treasure of spiritual significance on the Island? With the discovery of the stone road and wharf of 1200 AD, the answer is YES! Oak Island has been in use as a depository for centuries, starting with the visitation of the Vikings who transmitted the information to their descendants, the Templars.

I have travelled to see the castles on Zena Halpern’s Map of Oak Island. Castle Rochefoucauld revealed greater secrets of a dangerous Biblical past. I found the Young Lion of Talmont and visited his Castle.

One of the more memorable theorists on Oak Island is the irrepressible Zena Halpern. She reminded me so much of the fierce intelligent and caring energy of my own parents. We were introduced to Zena during Seasons 4 and 5. Everyone ran to buy her book on the Cremona Documents which included a controversial map of Oak Island.
