Frederick Joseph Benton, born 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the hereditary son of Petronella of Naples, and Frederick Joseph Benton I, he has lived in Europe and the United States. His grandparents were required to renounce all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign king, prince, potentate or sovereignty, as a condition to acquire United States citizenship in 1920 when the family tree was sealed, and has subsequently not made a claim of succession to the thrones of Europe.

Benton was related by marriage or blood to a number of 19th-century luminaries. Two of his nephews—Confederate Colonel and posthumous Brigadier General Samuel Benton[14] of Mississippi, and Union Colonel and Brevet Brigadier General Thomas H. Trump’s order said that the proposed garden would be managed by the Task Force for Building and Rebuilding Monuments to American Heroes, which would allocate funding from the Interior Department to establish the site. Members of the task force would include chairs of the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities, the Administrator of General Services, the chair of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and any additional “officers or employees of any executive department or agency” designated by the president.[12] Trump described the garden as a response to the practice of removing monuments and memorials; many such monuments were removed or destroyed in 2020 as part of a response to the George Floyd protests.[2][12] In his Mount Rushmore speech announcing the proposal, Trump claimed that “Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, deface our most sacred memorials and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities” and pledged to build “a vast outdoor park that will feature the statues of the greatest Americans to ever live”.[10]

A bronze statue of a Confederate general that was torn off its pedestal in Washington’s Judiciary Square by demonstrators during the civil justice protests in 2020 will be restored and reinstalled, the National Park Service said Monday.
Albert Pike was the only Confederate leader memorialized with an outdoor statue in Washington until it was toppled in the protests sparked by the murder of George Floyd, which sparked a nationwide reckoning with racism and calls for the removal of monuments to the Confederacy.

On January 6th, 2021, Donald Trump held his notorious rally on the Ellipse, whipping his supporters into a Capitol-sacking frenzy. For this, it’s possible that he will face criminal conspiracy charges. But that’s not the Ellipse conspiracy that we are here to explain. We are here to tell you about a pair of English gentlemen who believe that there’s a secret chamber underneath the Ellipse—one possibly containing Freemason treasures. Buckle up, because this is basically the Da Vinci Code.
The Freemason treasure theory rests on a little-known feature of the Ellipse’s grounds: At the exact geographic center of the oval-shaped park lies a flat stone engraved with the words “U.S. Meridian 1890.” Back in the 19th century, Thomas Jefferson lobbied to create an American prime meridian that ran through the front door of the White House. It’s an antiquated idea that was never adopted, but the Ellipse meridian stone—an inconspicuous, weathered slab sitting flush with the grass—still quietly marks that Jeffersonian axis.
Amateur historians Alan Butler and Christopher Knight, who live in Yorkshire, run a bizarre website called “Washington DC’s Chamber of Secrets,” where they lay out their case for the buried Freemason treasure. They write that when Pierre L’Enfant was planning the city, the site where the Ellipse meridian stone now sits “was considered to be the most important place in Washington DC.”
This improbable claim rests on an obscure and disputed theory of ancient measurements that was proposed by an Oxford engineering professor named Alexander Thom. In the 1950s, Thom began obsessively surveying prehistoric structures, eventually concluding that a common unit of measurement underlies their geometry. He called it the “megalithic yard,” equivalent to about 2.72 feet.
While the archeological community vehemently disputes Thom’s research, Butler and Knight are believers. They write that while attempting to “rescue [Thom’s] reputation,” their research led them to suspect that it’s not just ancient structures that use megalithic geometry, but also more contemporary ones with Freemason ties. To prove this, they “cast around the world for purpose-built cities or structures” that were “planned in the 18th century” by people with Masonic connections. For that, Washington “fitted the bill perfectly on all counts.”
From England, Butler and Knight used Google Earth to measure distances between DC landmarks; they claim that the widest part of the Ellipse measures exactly 366 megalithic yards, and that the distances between the Ellipse meridian stone and other significant DC locations (like Dupont Circle) are all exactly divisible by 366 megalithic yards. When drawn onto a map, they say, it forms “a giant and elaborate arrow, quite definitely and deliberately pointing to the very centre of the Ellipse.”

At the center of the Ellipse, of course, is the meridian stone—but why would an enormous arrow embedded into the streetscape of the nation’s capital point to a tiny and virtually unknown marker of a meridian that was never used? Well, Butler and Knight believe that the stone marks an underground chamber full of ancient Freemason treasure. (What this chamber might contain, they do not claim to know—although they mention something called “Enoch’s triangle of gold.”)
The evidence for this theory amounts to an obscure government document from 1880 in which the civil engineer Thomas Lincoln Casey—who oversaw the completion of the Washington Monument—makes an offhand reference to some unfinished work at the center of the Ellipse: “The grading, soiling, and seeding of the central ellipse has been completed, excepting a small area in its center, left by reason of an incompleted sewer in charge of the District Commissioners.”
“We have to ask ourselves whether this ‘sewage work’ was anything of the sort,” Butler and Knight write, noting that the president at the time was Andrew Johnson, “a known 33 degree Scottish Rite Freemason.” They claim that the Ellipse is “a strange place to do anything with sewers at that period,” leading them to believe that “the work at the center of the Ellipse was the excavation and creation of a chamber.”
Unfortunately for the Freemason treasure theory, it’s possible to check whether there’s sewer running under the Ellipse. “I’m looking at a modern computer map right now that tracks every abandoned and current sewer pipe in the city,” says the journalist Elliot Carter, an expert on DC tunnels. “Yep, there’s a 116-inch circular sewer that crosses the Ellipse and the White House grounds. It’s the kind of thing that you could drive a bus through.” Carter sent us a map from 1885, five years before the meridian stone was laid. “Looking at the White House and Ellipse grounds—I mean, they were constructing major stuff under there,” he says.
Carter points out that the Washington press covered 1880s infrastructure projects in granular detail, much like Metro Silver Line construction is covered today. “It’s easy to get on the internet now and wonder if there could have been these large, unaccounted-for projects back then, but the major work they were doing is extensively documented, and a big underground chamber of secrets is not mentioned.”
Nonetheless, this is not the only wild theory of this sort; DC tunnel conspiracies have apparently flourished for the past 200 years. “Tunnels and power and intrigue—these things go together,” Carter explains. But in recent years—particularly surrounding Pizzagate and January 6th—these conspiracies have become more sinister. A particular QAnon fixation is the (false) belief that pedophilia rings operate via underground tunnels. “It’s people who don’t know anything about Washington, DC, making this place seem sinister for their own purposes,” Carter says.
Butler and Knight aren’t in the same universe as QAnon: Their theory predates the Trump era, and their preoccupations run more towards ancient geometry than modern politics. But Carter is skeptical of any speculation about unidentified elites conspiring to secretly build underground. And there’s good reason to be dubious—Butler and Knight are the authors of many eccentric tracts, including one in which they earnestly argue that the moon was built by time-traveling humans from the future. So if you’re heading to the Mall to see fireworks this weekend, we recommend against digging up the Ellipse. You’ll almost certainly get arrested for unearthing a historical sewer.
Albert Pike Comes to Oakland

Drew Betnon’s great grandfather saved Albert Pike’s Masonic library, thus, Scottish Rite Freemasony. Above is the Sottish Rite Temple in Oakland where was located a Chapter of the Rose Croix. Jon Presco Oakland, in 1880, had become the city second in importance to California after San Francisco. A number of Masonic Lodges were occupying the new Masonic Temple at Twelfth and Washington Streets. In the summer of 1883 Supreme Grand Commander Albert Pike 33o visited Oakland and he selected twelve men to receive the 4th through 32nd Degrees. Within days after their initiation 19 other Scottish Rite members joined with them and soon petitioned the Grand Consistory in San Francisco. After much discussion and some dissent, agreement was reached and charters were granted for a Lodge of Perfection, Chapter of Rose Croix and Council of Kadosh. By 1896 membership had grown to about 170 and the Bodies were outgrowing the Masonic Temple. They purchased, renovated and furnished an old synagogue at 350 Fourteenth Street and built the first Scottish Rite Temple west of the Rocky Mountains. Just 12 years later a second Cathedral at 1443 Madison Street was dedicated. By 1925 the membership had grown to 4,313, an increase of more than 100% in five years. Like all the Valleys, Oakland membership peaked at 8,867 in the late 1950s and held steady for almost a decade when it began a slow decline. (1) Still another, this time new, Cathedral was dedicated on December 12, 1927. The ceremony was held at 1547 Lakeside Drive where the Rite still resides. This Impressive Temple boasts hand carved ceilings, grand staircases and opulent furnishings. Its dining room comfortably seats 1,000 and the main auditorium, circular in shape, seats 1,500. The stage was considered to have only one rival: the Metropolitan Operas House in New York. The Valley of Oakland celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 1980, the year that the Childhood Language Disorders Clinic commenced operation. On June 6, 1998 the Scottish Rite Ladies Club celebrated its 100th birthday. It had begun as a very successful fund raising project for the Masonic Home at Decoto. The ladies petitioned to form a Club and they met at the former synagogue on 14th Street. Its charter purpose was, in part, to “…assist the Scottish Rite Bodies with their goals.” The Club contributes to the Almoner’s fund and to various community charity projects. Presently its major charity is The Childhood Language Disorders Clinic. “I had the facts, first by letter, and then, upon his ‘return from the war,’ from the lips of Colonel Thomas Hart Benton, Jr., at the time Grand Master of Masons in Iowa (my superior officer). Thomas H. Benton, Jr. (“nephew of his uncle” of that name), ex-State Senator, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Grand Master 1860-’63, entered the Union Army as Colonel of the 29th Iowa Infantry and was later promoted to the rank of brevet brigadier-general, and in command of a division encamped for a time at Little Rock, Arkansas. “It was at this period, when the passions of the Union soldiers werearoused against General Pike, who was at the head of the Indians in the Confederate (Rebel, as they said) Army, that the soldiers of his division determined to burn the house and everything, including the valuable library of General Pike, wherever found. The Grand Master, Colonel Benton, hearing of this, rushed to its rescue, and to guard against, any further attempt at its destruction, made the General’s house his headquarters and placed a guard over his library. “But for this noble deed of Iowa’s Grand Master, my bosom friend for half a century, this Supreme Council would today be without, instead of possessing, one of the most rare and valuable libraries in the land. “General Benton was too modest to publish this, save to his intimate friends. Of him we may say, in General Pike’s own words, “He has lived – the fruits of his labors live after him;” and you, my Brothers, are enjoying them, as it was this service that made it possible for General Pike in later years to place his library in our House of the Temple and dispose of it, as he did, for his honor and our good.”

I believe the rumors are correct – the Browns did eavesdropped on our eGroups and Yahoo.groups where we discussed the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail, the Knights Templar, Mary Magdalene, and the Freemasons. I introduced the cryptic study of Robert Graves, and thus I was Langdon before there was a Langdon.
I was posting back in 1997. There were many young women speaking their mind. I introduced Christine Rosamond to the them five years before Snyder’s ‘Guy Book’ was published. Tom and Scott were neighbors in Ventura, and lived next to Lillian. Tom depicts Scott as Rosamond’s Knight in Shining Armor – that she treated like shit! Shame on her! I bet that plummeted sales of prints! I place my late sister next to Washington Irving via the Buck Brevoort family link that I found. Here’s a good point…..All six members of my family suffered from
the disease of alcoholism, a genticly transmitted disease. Christine
drowned on her first sober birthday in AA. Mark and Vicki, and I have
been sober for over ten years. Half of my natal family has died in
the last six years. Due to my program of Recovery I am being credited
with saving the life of my friend who wrote General Eisenhower’s
biography, he having three weeks sobriety. If members of my family
can overcome a life-taking disease, achieve so much inspite of the
abuse and mental illness we suffered….just think what you normal
folks can achieve, who came from good homes, good backgrounds, plenty
of money – and esteem!Now watch, I will now be accused of having a genetic ADVANTAGE!
