The White House took aggressive aim at Amazon, with President Donald Trump putting in a call to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos Tuesday morning, after the company considered displaying the added cost of tariffs on certain items.
Trump called Bezos to complain about reports that Amazon was considering displaying the cost of US tariffs next to prices for certain products on the company’s website, two senior White House officials told CNN. Trump latersaid it was a “good call.”
“Jeff Bezos was very nice. He was terrific,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday. “He solved the problem very quickly. Good guy.”
A second boycott against Amazon and its affiliated businesses will be held from May 6 through May 12 as some shoppers protest what they call corporate greed, companies that have rolled back their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and President Donald Trump‘s efforts to eliminate federal DEI programs since taking office.
The boycott includes Amazon and its affiliates, including Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh, Amazon Prime Video, Audible, Twitch, Ring, Zappos and Kindle. The People’s Union has had several weekly boycotts of various businesses and retailers since Feb. 28, including Walmart and General Mills. The group also had a second three-day economic blackout in April.

The left and right have been fairly stable and evenly matched over the past decade, a picture that looks a lot like American politics (we exclude Scotland and Northern Ireland, which make up less than 10 percent of Britain’s population).
But what has changed for each bloc is the social and ideological composition. The data shows us that Britain is now in the grip of a profound and long-term realignment.
The Brexit culture wars have not only shaken up Britain’s political map but are now pushing the country into a more polarized state. From 2010 to 2019, the districts that favored Brexit shifted further to the right, supporting the Conservatives or the populist right, while places that were more likely to vote to remain in the European Union moved decisively left, becoming more likely to vote for Labour, the firmly anti-Brexit Liberal Democrats and the Greens.
This drift helps to explain how as part of their victory in the general election this month Boris Johnson and the Conservatives were able to capture “red wall” districts — the coal and factory towns in the Midlands and north of England that until now voted as reliably for the Labour Party as blue-collar precincts in the American Midwest once voted for the Democrats.
Why is this happening? The popular answer on the left is that this is about economic insecurity, economic globalization and imports from China. But when you zoom in to look not just at areas but individual voters, attitudes toward immigration are in fact the strongest predictor of support for Brexit.

The Three Percenters’ Oregon chapter has gotten involved in the Oregon standoff between Republican state senators, who fled the state to avoid the passage of cap-and-trade legislation, and the Democratic majority who wanted to put the measure to a vote. The paramilitary group, known for anti-government and pro-gun sentiment, said in a Thursday night Facebook post, “We will stand together with unwavering resolve, doing whatever it takes to keep these Senators safe,” pledging to provide “security, transportation, and refuge” for Republican lawmakers.
As my colleague Shane Bauer wrote in 2016, “the three percenter philosophy” had “quickly grown into a grassroots, national movement, part of a resurgence of right-wing militia activity following Obama’s election in 2008.”
This is the most recent escalation of the conflict that began when the Oregon House of Representatives passed a bill Monday that would impose a declining limit on the amount of CO2 emissions Oregon’s manufacturing, utility, and transportation industries can produce. But when Senate president Peter Courtney was ready to begin Thursday’s session, Oregon’s Republican senators fled the Capitol to make a vote impossible to hold.
The Three Percenters (also styled 3%ers and III%ers) is an American militia organization whose members pledge protest and armed resistance against attempts to curtail constitutional rights.[1] The organization’s credo cautions against a potentially tyrannical US Federal Government, and has been characterized as being ideologically similar to the Oath Keepers.[2]
The Southern Poverty Law Center categorizes the 3 Percenters group as “anti-government” group.[3] Some Canadian experts consider the group the “most dangerous extremist group” in Canada.[4]
The movement was started in 2008. The movement was co-founded by Michael “Mike” Brian Vanderboegh[5] from Alabama, a member of the Oath Keepers, a group with whom the Three Percenters remain loosely allied and are often compared to.[6][7] Vanderboegh claims to have formerly been a member of Students for a Democratic Society and the Socialist Workers Party, but abandoned left-wing politics and politics in general in 1977 after being introduced to libertarianism.[8] Beginning in November 2008, Vanderboegh began promoting the movement on his blog “Sipsey Street Irregulars”.
Vanderboegh self-published a serial novel online, Absolved, in 2008, which he called “a cautionary tale for the out-of-control gun cops of the ATF“.[9]
Vanderboegh and his novel Absolved first received wider media attention in 2011, when four suspected militia members in Georgia were arrested for an alleged plan for a biological attack that had supposedly been inspired by the novel.[10][11] Vanderboegh distanced himself from the alleged plot.[12]
In 2013, Christian Allen Kerodin and associates were working on construction of a walled compound in Benewah County, Idaho “for Three Percenters”, designed to house 7,000 people following a major disaster, an initiative which local law enforcement has described as a “scam”.[13]
In April 2013, a group of Jersey City police officers were disciplined for wearing patches reading “ONE OF THE 3%”.[14][15]
Following the 2015 Chattanooga shootings at a strip mall military recruitment center and a Navy Operational Support Center in Tennessee, Three Percenters, Oath Keepers, and other militia groups began organizing armed gatherings outside of recruiting centers in several states, with the stated objective of providing protection to service members, who were barred from carrying weapons while on duty in civilian recruitment centers.[16] In response, the Army Command Operations Center Security Division issued a letter ordering soldiers not to interact with or acknowledge armed civilians outside of recruitment centers, and that “If questioned by these alleged concerned citizens, be polite, professional and terminate the conversation immediately and report the incident to local law enforcement”, noting that the issuing officer is “sure the citizens mean well, but we cannot assume this in every case and we do not want to advocate this behavior”.[16]
On January 8, 2016, the “3 Percenters of Idaho” group announced it was sending some of its members in support of the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon, allegedly in order to “secure the perimeter” and to prevent a “Waco-style situation“.[17] They left several hours later after being told their assistance was not needed.[18] Two days previously, Vanderboegh had described the occupiers as “a collection of fruits and nuts”.[19] “What Bundy and this collection of fruits and nuts has done is give the feds the perfect opportunity to advance their agenda to discredit us”, he said.[19] They have provided security for the Patriot Prayer rally, “Rally for Trump and Freedom”.[20][21] Several III%ers were also present and providing security for the Charlottesville Unite the Right rally in August 2017.[22] After the events at Charlottesville, the National Three Percenters Council issued a “stand down order” for 3 Percenters, asking members to temporarily refrain from participating in any marches or protests in light of the recent violence at Charlottesville. The statement also asked members to refrain from protesting against Black Lives Matter and Antifa events over concerns that the media would associate them with white nationalist groups.[23]
I know what Mr. Trumpidity is up to. he’s using Nancy to rile up the Bundy Boys again, and have him go squat on some federal land as compensation for the 20 billion dollars the farmers and ranchers lost due to the stupid trade wars.
