Neri Oxman accused of lifting from article whose plagiarism led to downfall of concussion expert
Neri Oxman’s problems may be getting worse.
The researcher, who has become embroiled in plagiarism accusations following her billionaire husband’s push to depose the president of Harvard for plagiarizing in her thesis, appears to have lifted about 100 words in her thesis from an article that has been plagiarized before.
Last week, Business Insider reported that Oxman “plagiarized multiple paragraphs of her 2010 doctoral dissertation…including at least one passage directly lifted from other writers without citation.” Oxman, who earned her PhD at MIT and was later a professor there until 2020, has since acknowledged some citation errors.

Britain’s aircraft carriers are not ready to be sent to the Red Sea because of the recruitment crisis engulfing the Armed Forces, The Telegraph can reveal.
It comes as Britain and the US launched air strikes on Thursday night against Houthi rebels over their attacks on cargo ships in the Red Sea, with Rishi Sunak warning it would “continue to take action” if the Iranian-backed rebels did not deescalate.
There have been calls to send HMS Queen Elizabeth, the UK’s £3 billion aircraft carrier to the region, as part of the Carrier Strike Group (CSG), which is made up of a ring of advanced warships, submarines, helicopters and fifth generation fighter jets.
However, The Telegraph understands that RFA Fort Victoria, the only Solid Support Ship capable of providing the CSG with the amount of ammunition, aircraft, spare equipment and food required for a full deployment, is unable to sail owing to a lack of sailors.

Harvard University is being sued by Jewish students who have accused it of allowing its campus to become a bastion of rampant anti-Semitism.
In a complaint filed on Wednesday, six students accused the US university of selectively enforcing its anti-discrimination policies to avoid protecting Jewish students from harassment, ignoring pleas for protection, and hiring professors who support anti-Jewish violence and spread anti-Semitic propaganda.
“Based on its track record, it is inconceivable that Harvard would allow any group other than Jews to be targeted for similar abuse or that it would permit, without response, students and professors to call for the annihilation of any country other than Israel,” the complaint said.
Harvard, the complaint said, treats Jews as “unworthy of the respect and protection it affords other groups”.
The students are seeking an injunction to stop Harvard’s alleged violations of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bars recipients of federal funds from allowing discrimination based on race, religion and national origin.
They sued the university eight days after Claudine Gay resigned as Harvard president after she came under fire for her handling of anti-Semitism in the wake of the Hamas attack on Oct 7 2023. She also faced plagiarism allegations.
Harvard declined to comment on the lawsuit, which was filed in Boston federal court.

A group of Jewish House Democrats pressed Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Herzog on inflammatory comments by ultranationalist Israeli ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich in a meeting on Thursday, Axios has learned.
Why it matters: Israeli and U.S. officials say the statements and actions by the extreme right-wing ministers, particularly around the war in Gaza, have created growing tension between Israel and many of its allies — especially the Biden administration and Democratic lawmakers.
- Smotrich, the minister of finance, said in a recent interview with Israeli media that Israel should take steps to encourage the emigration of the majority of the more than 2 million Palestinians in Gaza to other countries.
- Ben-Gvir, the minister of national security, also expressed support for such a move, saying it would allow Israel to rebuild Jewish settlements in Gaza.
What they’re saying: Herzog sat down with roughly 15 Jewish members, who range from staunchly pro-Israel to more critical of the Israeli government, according to a half dozen members present at the meeting.
- Disapproval of the two ministers’ comments was “unanimously expressed by members — the most progressive and also those who have been ardent supporters of Israel,” Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) told Axios, adding that some lawmakers said they “ought to be fired.”
- While the comments from the two ministers were the primary focus of the meeting, a “whole list of ill-advised statements from members of the Knesset” was brought up, said Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.).
- “We did press him on our very serious concerns about the statements from some of these right-wingers about what happens next with Gaza, as part of a series of really abhorrent statements,” said Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio).
The backdrop: Ben-Gvir and Smotrich are both ultranationalists with a long record of racist, Jewish supremacist and anti-Palestinian statements and actions.
- Both have been pressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reject the Biden administration’s requests regarding the war in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority.
The other side: The State Department has condemned the remarks, with a spokesperson calling them “inflammatory and irresponsible.”
- Netanyahu said Wednesday — the night before the International Court of Justice began hearings on South Africa’s charge that Israel is committing genocide — that Israel “has no intention of permanently occupying Gaza or displacing its civilian population.”
- A member of the Israeli war cabinet told Axios that Ben-Gvir is using the war in Gaza for an “extremist political campaign,” and, instead of reining him in, Netanyahu keeps silent most of the time for domestic political reasons.
Zoom in: At the meeting on Thursday, the lawmakers warned that the comments are damaging not only to efforts to get a hostage deal and a pause in Gaza fighting but also to U.S. public opinion towards Israel.
- “It doesn’t help Israel’s position that this [war] is not genocidal, which I don’t believe it is,” said Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), summing up the argument that was made. “What these two cabinet members have done is make it more difficult on those of us who support Israel to be 100%.”
- Cohen pointed to Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) reading into the congressional record a portion of the South Africa case that quotes Israeli ministers’ controversial statements about Palestinians.
- Landsman said the lawmakers also expressed that “anything that undermines [peace talks] and the work to rebuild Gaza is problematic, including their statements.”
What we’re hearing: A source familiar with the meeting said that in response to the concerns raised by the lawmakers, the ambassador referred them to Netanyahu’s statement that Israel does not seek to forcefully displace Palestinians or reoccupy Gaza.
- Three lawmakers told Axios that Herzog also emphasized that Ben-Gvir and Smotrich are allowed to speak freely but their remarks don’t necessarily represent the government’s official position.
- Some were unsatisfied with Herzog’s responses: Schakowsky, one of the more progressive members, said she and her colleagues “kind of hammered away at getting some sort of answer, and [got] nothing.”
- “The strongest supporters of Israel were really pressing, and he just kept shaking his head, like, ‘there’s nothing I can do,’” she added.
The Israeli Embassy told Axios that “Ambassador Herzog maintains regular communication with members of the U.S. Congress, which allows him to keep them up-to-date on official Israeli government policy. We do not comment on the content of these private discussions.”

“Logistics is the difference between a click and a bang”, as logisticians across the armed forces like to remind their fellow operators. It’s all good playground banter, until it isn’t. An essential part of operating a globally deployed Navy at both peace and at war is the ability to replenish fuel and stores whilst underway at sea. It keeps you “up threat” for longer and reduces reliance on other countries who, depending on the circumstances, may not want you alongside.The Royal Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) combine to do this as well as any navy in the world.
Or at least they did. The RFA have four Tide Class and two Wave Class tankers, or “oilers” as they’re colloquially known, whose principal job is providing fuel to Royal Navy and other warships at sea. However, one of the Tides is in extended maintenance and the two Waves are in a state of “extended readiness”; de-crewed and sitting alongside.
This is not the end of the RFA’s woes. Currently, Fort Victoria is the only ship able to provide solid stores support (ammunition and heavy items such as F35 engines) to our flagship aircraft carriers. She is languishing in Leith, also with minimal crew. The three Fleet Solid Support ships assigned to take this role off her are not due off the production line until 2028 to 2032, and that’s with a following sea.
If you want an example of planning incoherence at the highest level, delivering an advanced carrier capability whose support infrastructure won’t be ready for another eight to ten years is a good place to start.

- Top Biden administration officials are actively weighing options to strike back at Houthis in Yemen after the Iran-backed group launched new attacks on naval and commercial ships in the Red Sea on Saturday, according to two U.S. officials.

Victoria was about to take John’s remark under serious consideration. If he had not added “You know how women are” suggesting Miram was a slut. This bit of misogyny would change the course of human history. For indeed Miriam made a beeline for the microfish room at the library of the University of Oregon where a male hand locked the door after she entered.
Now able to carry on a adult conversation, John was able to get at the core of his theory.
“I have uncovered evidence there was a special group of people rescued somewhere on the Russian Swedish border at the beginning of the war. This group may be a cadet branch of the Romanov family, and noble Germans who were invited to settle in Russian by Catherine the great. There is a ancient Viking bloodline in the mix. It looks like another attempt to create a master race. As you know Putin wants to restore Russian nobility and the true orthodoxy. Above is the cave Keith Purvis took me to with his kin and our mutual friends. It is located a hundred feet from the rock I fell on a year later. When I was authoring my theological novel ‘Where Art Thou?” I found myself sitting in front of this cave beholding ‘The Tree of Life’ in the back of this abyss, surrounded by a hundred galaxies. I had pondered God’s first question to the man and woman he created, and believed I had come upon the answer as to why Adam and Eve became invisible.

I had just finished reading Tolkien’s Ring Trilogy when Keith Purvis, James Taylor, and myself, set out for McClure’s Beach to drop Stanley Augustus Owsley’s latest and most powerful dose of LSD. On the beach, Keith suggested we each drop two doses. That was our first mistake. We had stopped and got some hotdogs and buns which was a cosmic joke, because you can’t eat anything – on two doses! We brought no water or soda – our second mistake. The date was February 11, 1967. It was unusually warm. However, the nights were still cold.
As we climbed the large rock at the end of the beach, I began to feel the effects of the LSD. I looked up to see Keith and James disappear into the sun that was setting atop the rock. I had a vision of us as Hobbits taking the Ring of invisibility to the mount to cast it in so we three could end the War in Vietnam.
When I stood up at the zenith, I was in a flash of bright white light. I lost my footing, and was tumbling down the rock. I put my hands out to stop my slide, and cried out as a sharp piece of rock tore into the palm of my hand. My feet were dangling over the edge. I looked down a hundred feet at the sea lions on a rock. I went into shock. I did not have the strength to pull myself up. That’s when I felt my friends grab the army shirt I was wearing, and pull me up. I looked at their eyes and they were black orbs due to the dilation of their pupils. They could barely move. We were in deep trouble for it was a treacherous climb up, and would now be a life and death struggle to get down. Keith and James had to hand me down to one another because my legs were gone. It took us a half hour to get down, and by that time, the LSD had become a monster. We had taken too much.
James tore up my army shirt to make a bandage for my wound that exposed a bone. He took me in the water to wash my wound, and we both got soaked by a wave. We had made the final mistake. The sun was setting, and it was getting cold. Then, I saw them, these beautiful white horses coming out of the waves. It was a very peaceful sight as I sat in the sand. Then, they came, with their beautiful banners flapping in the sea breeze. They contained the cote of arms of their noble families. My ancestors were amongst them. The Lords of Rougemont and Guyere, sent knights to capture Jerusalem. We were captured in battle and hung together on a gutter of a Crusader Castle we could not defend. We were left their for weeks, in our white tunics stained with blood.
Not once in my blogs have I mentioned John of Patmos. When I read Revelations many years later, I wondered. I wondered if we had fought the coming battle of Armageddon – and won! Had we prevented a worl war?
As the knights came out of the sea, row after row, I knew I was about to die. These knight meant business. All of sudden I felt and smelled their fear. People were going to die. These knights were riding into hell. Much blood would be shed. Why? I was powerless to stop them. I was wet and cold and going into shock. We had no warm blankets. And then I heard the helicopters and the tracks of the landing barges. I was in the present. I was in Vietnam.

Stanford Coming to Belmont?

Did you know Ursula von der Layen attended Stanford University and born her children while getting a degree? Stanford is looking at buying the Norte Dame de Namur in Belmont where I was snubbed and ridiculed by the Historic Society after I showed them proof I am descended from Carl Janke who brought six portable houses around the Cape in 1848. These are Prussians, who offered by purchase California for seven million dollars. My kin may have been agents for this purchase – that was nixed when gold was discovered. In 2021 I suggested a School of Espionage move in to Namur. Yesterday in search of historians at Stanford – I find you! You, Ms. Zegart – are up! If you are drinking coffee right now, put that cup down, and look around at the way your reality – used to be! You have passed between the Two Pine Trees of Belmont, and the bronze doors to the Janke-Stuttmeister crypt in Colma. Carl Janke and his wife were dug up from their graves in the middle of the night, and ended up in the Union graveyard in Redwood City. If Dr. Stuttmeister knew where they were, he would have interred them in our crypt, where he put Carl’s bloodline – after they were evicted from the Oddfellow’s cemetery! I am claiming Twn Pines Park, because in looking at you – and all of this intrigue – I saw The Light shining through. The Truth came in between the two trees, and falling upon my beloved ancestors.
In 2018, after discovering I am kin to Ian Fleming, via Liz Taylor, I began my own Bond novel ‘The Royal Janitor. I researched what spies do. They look at a lot of data, and analyze it. In your book, you attest to this, and then say spy novels, and fake spies, ruin the real work.. I had the stars of my Bond book become lovers, and then get married after seeing a video of Putin’s Cossacks whipping members of Pussy Riot. I knew I was throwing away an opportunity to have a pay day, but I am driven to do the right thing. I suspect you are too.
I suggest you approach the President of Sandford and ask for the funds to conduct a investigation – that will include us meeting in Belmont to look for evidence I am the rightful Heir of Twin Pines Park. I believe we are destined to author a book, or two. I see your husband is a screenwriter. I suggest you both take good notes. I was poised to send Vice President Kamala Harris the second part of my message – that will now include this e-mail. Stanford University is exploring the possibility of purchasing the Notre Dame de Namur University campus with a goal of continuing the property’s nearly 100-year history of academic use by creating a vision for a future Stanford campus in Belmont.
For fans of spy movies and television shows, a visit to CIA headquarters will be disappointing. The visitor center looks nothing like the high-tech offices of Jason Bourne and Carrie Mathison. Instead, the entry to America’s best-known intelligence agency has more of a shabby post-office feel. There are teller windows with bulletproof glass, soda machines, and an old-fashioned black landline phone mounted on the back wall. Once cleared by security, visitors head back outside, where they can walk down a winding road or take the rambling shuttle bus to the old headquarters building. There, lobby security has no retina scanners or fancy fingerprint devices, just a few turnstiles and a friendly security guard who takes cellphones and hands out paper claim checks.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will pledge to “keep Kyiv in the fight” against Russia by providing military support focused on naval assets, as well as financial aid and intelligence sharing.
It will also contain promises of a post-war security guarantee to ward off Moscow should it consider attacking again, including stepping up weapons deliveries and reimposing sanctions.
British officials have told their Ukrainian counterparts the country will focus on bolstering Kyiv’s maritime capabilities as part of the planned MoU, The Telegraph can disclose.
Military leaders have been impressed with Ukraine’s performance in the Black Sea, where it has forced Russia’s navy to retreat from its traditional stronghold in occupied Crimea.
Some of its weaponry – including Brimstone missiles – have come from Britain, which still has one of the world’s most powerful navies.
The new deal will build on a recent announcement that the UK will lead a “Maritime Capability Coalition” alongside Norway to deliver two Royal Navy mine-hunting ships to Ukraine.
“[The deal] demonstrates our commitment to keep Ukraine in the fight,” a source close to the talks said.
“They are also about providing assurances in a post-hostilities world to provide assistance should Russian then attack again.”
The anticipated deal comes after G7 countries signed a declaration on long-term protections for Ukraine in lieu of Nato membership on the sidelines of a summit of the military alliance’s leaders in Vilnius, Lithuania, earlier this year.
Some 30 countries, as well as the European Union, are now negotiating individual, long-term security pledges for Ukraine using the framework agreed in July.
Britain is hoping to use its maritime strength and knowledge to help further build up Ukrainian naval power.
The Royal Navy has already been training Ukrainian de-mining specialists on crew-less submarines to disarm, defuse Russian bombs, booby traps and mines in its deep-water shipping lanes and prepare for amphibious raids.
Last year, Britain started providing ship-based versions of the Brimstone missile to Ukrainian forces, which Russian war bloggers have credited for attacks on air-defence systems in occupied Crimea.
Land and air assets
Defence sources declined to share any further details at this stage of the weapons that could be sent to Kyiv, other than confirming they would also include land and air assets.
Sir Tim Barrow, the national security adviser, recently held secretive talks with Andriy Yermak, Volodymyr Zelensky’s top aide, in Brussels on the British pact.
Last week, the Telegraph revealed that European leaders had privately urged Rishi Sunak to channel Winston Churchill and reclaim Britain’s role in leading Western support for Ukraine as Germany, France and the US struggle to maintain their backing for Kyiv.
The focus of arms deliveries will be on ensuring Ukraine’s forces become more “interoperable” with Nato to act as a long-term deterrent against future attacks.
Britain has donated £2.3 billion in military aid annually to Kyiv since Russia launched its full-scale invasion and is expected to match that against in 2024.
A key pillar of the 10-year pact is aimed at further formalising intelligence sharing between London and Kyiv.
Britain was one of the few nations to predict Vladimir Putin’s invasion in February last year, while European intelligence agencies conceded they failed to accurately assess the situation.
The country’s armed forces will also promise to maintain its Operation Interflex training programme, which has drilled more than 30,000 Ukrainian recruits, the largest military scheme on British soil since the Second World War, as part of the deal.
Post-war Ukraine
The dossier also sets out plans for protecting post-war Ukraine, including a promise to step up weapons deliveries and financial support in case of another Russian attack.
Any sanctions, which Western officials say have dealt a £350 billion blow to Moscow’s economy, dropped after the current conflict will be reintroduced.
A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: “At Vilnius in July 2023, the UK, Ukraine, and other members of the G7 issued a joint declaration, stating our aim to formalise our enduring support to Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity, rebuilds its economy, protects its citizens, and pursues integration into the Euro-Atlantic community.
“We continue to work closely with Ukraine to provide it with the military, diplomatic and economic support it needs until the end of this war and beyond,” the spokesperson added.
The Telegraph can also reveal details of the EU’s offer to Ukraine for a long-term security package, which was discussed by the bloc’s leaders at a Brussels summit last week.
A source close to the negotiations over the nine-point plan said Kyiv had been promised further weapons deliveries as part of a €20 billion deal over the next four years.
The bloc will aim to “enhance cooperation between the European and Ukrainian defence industries”, with the aim of helping Kyiv produce more Nato-standard weapons domestically.
It will also prolong its training programme for Ukrainian troops and commit to “continuous sharing of intelligence from member states and satellite imagery”, as well as dispatch an “advisory mission” to the country to prevent small arms illegally seeping out.
Brussels will also commit to funding de-mining efforts once the war draws to an end.
In return, Ukraine has promised its international partners it will reform military transparency, modernise its military and implement law enforcement, judicial and anti-corruption measures.

Second World War[edit]
Von Rosen’s happiness with his second wife, Hanny, ended with the outbreak of World War II. She joined the resistance, was arrested by the Gestapo and sent to Dachau in Germany. After the war, she committed suicide[citation needed] in 1949.
When the Soviet Union attacked Finland in 1939 in the Winter War, von Rosen quit his job to fly bombing missions for the Finns. He purchased a KLM Douglas DC-2, had it converted to a bomber in Sweden, and made one operational mission in March 1940 against the Soviet Union with it.[4] Later the same year, as the Germans attacked the Netherlands, von Rosen with a Dutch KLM-crew flew a DC-3 with Dutch government documents to England and applied for service with the RAF but was turned down, on account of his family relation to Hermann Göring. Carl Gustaf von Rosen went on flying for the Swedish airline AB Aerotransport (ABA) from August 1940 until the end of the war.
After joining the Royal Air Force, he wanted to fly but wasn’t allowed to because of an optic nerve problem. He, therefore, ended up becoming an intelligence officer, a forerunner for the SAS. He fought the Nazis and prevented a mutiny among his troops.
In his 2003 biography ‘Lord of Misrule: The Autobiography of Christopher Lee’ the star describes a period in the late ’50s when he was engaged to Henriette von Rosen after meeting her at a nightclub in Stockholm. Von Rosen’s father, Count Fritz von Rosen, disapproved of the union and had them delay the wedding for a year and asked his friends in London to interview Lee.
The Count even hired private investigators to investigate the actor and asked his future son-in-law to give him references which Lee provided. Finally, according to Giz Modo, the Count demanded that Lee ask for permission from the King of Sweden to marry von Rosen.
Lee had met the King before, and the King gave him his blessing. However, he ended the engagement because he thought von Rosen “deserved better.” In 1960 he met his future wife Birgit Kroncke and had a daughter Christina Erika Carandini Lee.

His most notable contribution, however, was the peace plan he worked on during the summer of 1948, following his appointment as UN mediator, in which he first called for the establishment of a union between Transjordan (currently Jordan) and British Mandatory Palestine, operating with certain areas allocated to Jews or Palestinians.
Examples of that plan included Palestinians controlling territories in the Naqab – or Negev – desert, while the Galilee area would be controlled by the Jews. Some areas were to be freely accessible to both, such as Haifa and its port and the airport at Lod, now called Ben-Gurion Airport. As for Jerusalem, it would be an international city controlled by the UN.
This was rejected by all sides and prompted the conflict to resume once the truce’s validity ceased.
His second proposal was more of a complex and reconciliatory one, however, affirming the existence of the state of Israel while at the same time firmly supporting the Palestinian right of return, advocating that Palestinians expelled from their lands and properties during the Nakba should be allowed to return and reclaim them. Those who did not return, he said, should be repatriated, resettled and financially compensated.
“It would be an offence against the principles of elemental justice if these innocent victims of the conflict were denied the right to return to their homes while Jewish immigrants flow into Palestine, and, indeed, at least offer the threat of permanent replacement of the Arab refugees who have been rooted in the land for centuries,” he is quoted as stating in his proposal.

As attention continues to shift towards IDF violence in the Occupied West Bank, the international community has done nothing but express alleged concern and horror over the killings of Palestinian civilians by Israeli soldiers and police officers. The IDFs head of the Military Intelligence Research Department, Brigadier-General Amit Saar, placed the blame on Palestinians. “I see young people who get up at 4 a.m. just to throw stones at IDF armoured vehicles entering the village. It’s alarming to think how much anger is needed for this,” Saar stated. Of course, Palestinians don’t just get up to throw stones – the colonial context is eliminated in its entirety, while Palestinians are falsely depicted as spewing hatred which the military is unable to grapple with.
But decades of Israeli colonial violence, more recently in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority, have wrought a change in Palestinian society. If its leaders are willing to “wait”, as the PA’s Foreign Minister, Riad Al-Maliki is fond of stating on occasions, Palestinians are waiting no longer and their anti-colonial resistance is legitimate, even within the parameters of international law. On the contrary, Israel’s endorsed colonial violence through the IDF holds no moral ground to justify its brutal approach.
