Rosemondt and Erasmus
My ancestor a good friend of a Pope, and he was a friend of the Great Erasmus – whom he defended! Pope Adrien’s papal papers were probably thrown out in the trash by the Medici, along with Gottschalk’s papers? They were at the cusp of the Reformation and, and the center of Dutch Renaissance.
Here is my great grandfather defending Erasmus, who some theologians believe, prepared the way for Martin Luther. Gottschalk Rosemondt was the Master of Louvain. The Rosemondts built Janskirk Church that you see in the background of Bosch’s painting of John the author of Revelations. This is a Pre-Rapture and Triblation work of art – if you are a believer in these things. Ghijsbrecht Rosemond lived in Maurick Castle, and was the High Sheriff.
