Florida offers new training for teachers that says it was a ‘misconception’ that ‘the Founders desired strict separation of church and state’: report (msn.com)

New civics education training for Florida teachers promotes inaccurate ideas about the separation of church and state, teachers told The Washington Post

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Education announced that they’ll host 10 regional 3-day civics professional learning training sessions for 2,500 teachers this summer to accommodate over 2,500 teachers during the summer of 2022. The training comes with a $700 stipend.

The FDOE said the training would “be aligned to the revised civics and government standards,” but some teachers have expressed concern about the instructions.

During a press conference on Thursday, DeSantis said the new civic education was pushing back on the “woke indoctrination” of children and said kids in the state were learning “real history.”

I told you so – should be the title of one of my books. This blog is a profound history of the Destruction of America by the Christian-right I warned all my Liberal friends about. They did not listen. Mark Gall and Ed Corbin got seduced by Christians. My daughter bonded with a Tea Party family.

I tried to explain to my two Harvard graduate friends that America will digress to conducting Holy Wars like the wars between the Protestants and Catholics. They thought I was pushing Keseyism on them and wanted them to take LSD. They fell into the pit of Dumb Duality that is tearing our Democracy – up! How far Christian Extremists WILL GO is illustrated below. My Bond novel begins with a Orange parade. The James Bond cote of arms contains the Red Hand of Ulster.

Putin is SHIPPING captured Ukraine Citizens into Russia where they are FORCED to attend DEPROGRAMMING classes, like Ginni Thomas attended. Clarence Thomas ESTABLISHED a Putin-like Purge of Gays and Liberal Women in order to convert more voters to the Republican Church – and put King Jesus IN CONTROL with the help of His Divine Handlers. Not able to leave a legacy amongst Black Folks, Clarence is full of glee that he FORCES White Women to do his bidding. Gay Men of all colors – is next! The Thomas’s WANT POWER OVER PEOPLE! I think Thomas wanted to be President, and, his wife would help him. But, the power of the President only last eight years. Now, millions of Americans will utter his name in adoration, or, with hate – forever!

Putin’s Anti-Gay War on Ukraine – Boston Review

“Properly speaking, the attempts to use us in their own interests never ceased until quite recently: they sought to destroy our traditional values and force on us their false values that would erode us, our people from within, the attitudes they have been aggressively imposing on their countries, attitudes that are directly leading to degradation and degeneration, because they are contrary to human nature. This is not going to happen. No one has ever succeeded in doing this, nor will they succeed now.”

Yesterday I posted on Tim Wallace-Murphy’s facebook a photograph of my good friend, Ed, whose mother was a Wallace kin to the Cavanaghs. Both families were members of the Plymouth Brethren in Dublin. I have been corresponding with Ed’s brother, Randall, who sent me a portion of his family genealogy. He just moved and is looking for the letters that go with that speak of the Brethren from which a huge Biblical prophecy has arisen, and generated millions of books authored by Tim LaHaye that have given rise to a righteous Army that has taken over the Republican Party whose candidate for President is a Mormon, who are baptizing the dead and splicing them to their massive genealogy!

The declaration reflects traditional conservative Protestantism in its rejection of the Roman Catholic Church as a legitimate church. This is mainly due to the differences expressed over the issue of Justification. These rejections of the Roman Catholic Church are found implicitly and explicitly in the text of the Declaration:

3 Anti-Catholic Parts in the Pilgrim’s Progress – ThinkingWest

Philadelphia nativist riots – Wikipedia

  • Connecticut Supreme Court Justice Andrew McDonald suggested that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was being hypocritical in calling for the reconsideration of rulings ensuring legal rights for gay people.
  • McDonald, who is gay, noted in a Facebook post that Thomas had not called for the repeal of a similar ruling that allows Thomas, who is Black, to be married to a white woman, Ginni Thomas, while living with her in Virginia.
  • “Mr. Justice Thomas had much to say today about my loving marriage. Oddly he didn’t have much to say about his ‘Loving’ marriage,” wrote McDonald.
  • Thomas in a concurring opinion on the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the federal abortion rights decision, suggested cases affecting gay rights and rights to birth control likewise should be tossed.

The Philadelphia nativist riots (also known as the Philadelphia Prayer Riots, the Bible Riots and the Native American Riots) were a series of riots that took place on May 6–8 and July 6–7, 1844, in PhiladelphiaPennsylvania, United States and the adjacent districts of Kensington and Southwark. The riots were a result of rising anti-Catholic sentiment at the growing population of Irish Catholic immigrants. The government brought in over a thousand militia—they confronted the nativist mobs and killed and wounded hundreds.

In the five months leading to the riots, nativist groups had been spreading a false rumor that Catholics were trying to remove the Bible from public schools. A nativist rally in Kensington erupted in violence on May 6 and started a deadly riot that would result in the destruction of two Catholic churches and numerous other buildings. Riots erupted again in July after it was discovered that St. Philip Neri’s Catholic Church in Southwark had armed itself for protection. Fierce fighting broke out between the nativists and the soldiers sent to protect the church, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries. Two of the 13 Catholic churches were burned. The Catholic Church sued the city and won some money for repairs. Civic leaders deplored the nativist attacks. Nationally, the riots helped fuel criticism of the nativist movement, despite denials of responsibility from nativist groups. The riots exposed deficiencies in law enforcement in Philadelphia and the surrounding districts, influencing various reforms in local police departments and the eventual consolidation of the city in 1854.[2]

John Bunyan was the Puritan writer of the famous book The Pilgrim’s Progress (late 1600s). As we all well know, the Puritans (and other Protestants) didn’t get along too well with us Catholics. Though I greatly admire Bunyan’s work and personally enjoyed the read, various parts throughout the Pilgrim’s Progress criticize the Catholic Church (to little surprise). Here are three instances where Bunyan shows his disapproval of Catholicism, both implicitly and explicitly.

Congress and the United Nations rolling out their red carpets, nuns working overtime to bake communion hosts, prison inmates carving a walnut throne, tickets for events snapped up in seconds: America is gearing up for pope-mania.

Pope Francis is expected to be greeted with huge crowds and across-the-board reverence when he tours Washington, New York and Philadelphia during his first visit as pontiff to the United States.

The rapture, however, will not change the awkward – and largely forgotten fact – that for centuries the US discriminated against Catholics.

The land of immigrants enshrined freedom of religion in the constitution yet spent much of its history despising, harassing and marginalising Catholics.

From the first Puritan settlers to televangelists, leading political, business and religious figures lambasted followers of Rome as theological abominations and traitorous fifth columnists.

“When you look back at the true, hidden history of the United States this strand of anti-Catholicism is very powerful,” said Kenneth Davis, a prominent historian and commentator.

“We want to show this patriotic view that we were this melting pot of religious freedom. Nonsense. People wanted their own religious freedom, not freedom for others. There was a very, very deep hatred of Catholics.”

Discrimination dwindled in the 20th century, especially after John F Kennedy became the first Catholic president, bequeathing a sort of amnesia, said Davis. “It’s really astonishing how it has been swept under the rug. It’s as if with JFK all the past is forgiven.”

“We’re unabashedly promoting civics and history that is accurate and that is not trying to push an ideological agenda,” he said.

According to the Post, the training included the phrase that it is a “misconception” that “the Founders desired strict separation of church and state.”

“My takeaway from the training is that civics education in the state of Florida right now is geared toward pushing some particular points of view,” Broward County teacher Richard Judd told the Post. “The thesis they ran with is that there is no real separation of church and state.”

Judd told the Post trainers that teachers were told, “This is the way you should think.”

DeSantis has recently pushed legislation that would limit what students can learn or discuss on historyrace, and gender, and sexuality

Presentation slides from the training, which were obtained by The Miami Herald through a public records request, feature graphics that illustrate George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were opposed to slavery while neglecting to mention that they owned slaves.

Barbara Segal, a 12th-grade government teacher at Fort Lauderdale High School, told the Tampa Bay Times that the training was “very skewed.”

“There was a very strong Christian fundamentalist way toward analyzing different quotes and different documents. That was concerning,” Segal said.

Anna Fusco, president of the Broward Teachers Union, told the Post some teachers who attended told her that they were being told to present just “one side” of history.

“Then they kind of slipped in a Christian values piece, ignoring the fact that this country is made up of so many different cultures and religions,” Fusco said.

Jon ‘The Seer’ saw it coming in his Ian Fleming novel ‘The Royal Janitor. All Catholic leaders are aware of the battles between the Catholics and the Protestants. The Colonel’s Crazies dress like Scottish Warriors who followed Wallace into battle. They paint themselves half-blue and have seen Wallace and his men INTIMIDATE the enemy. When the Native American Warrior approached them, drumming, their blood boiled. They wanted – blood! How many teachers at Covington know Mel Gibson is a radical Catholic?

According to the Catholic website, Gibson’s film is important in that it taught the whole world the story of the Scottish leader who led his fellow nationals in the rebellion against English occupation. However, it missed out one fundamental fact about the figure of Braveheart: his Catholic faith.

Since his birth in 1270, the young nobleman, Wallace, received a Catholic education. His career was allegedly church oriented: he was educated by the Augustinians and the Benedictines and apart from his mother tongue, Gaelic, he also spoke English, French, German and Latin.

The actor has been very vocal about his “traditionalist” views, adhering to the Roman Catholic faith as it was understood before the “modernization” by the Second Vatican Council of 1962-1965. ‘’I go to an all-pre-Vatican II Latin mass,” he told USA Today in 2001. “There was a lot of talk, particularly in the ‘60s, of ‘Wow, we’ve got to change with the times.’ But the Creator instituted something very specific, and we can’t just go change it.’’

So in 2003 the actor decided to help change things back to the way they were, building a chapel in Malibu, Calif. — The Church of the Holy Family. Tucked away in the tree-covered mountains of Agoura Hills, 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, the rustic church, unaffiliated with the Roman Catholic archdiocese, has a foot-tall crucifix on the altar and the priest keeps his back to the parishioners as he performs mass every morning entirely in Latin. In church, women must wear head coverings.

Being  part Dutch, and able to trace her lineage to William The Silent, got Victoria Bond an invite to march in the Orange Parade. But, when she insisted she play her ‘Contraption’, some of the most diplomatic folks of the Isles slithered up to her, and, as calm as can be, tried to talk her out of it.

“There will be trouble!”

“What kind of trouble? There’s always trouble. I’m not giving up my pipes – mon! That would be like me, asking you, to give up your nuts. Coo’mon! Drop em!”
