In studying the origin of the Rosamond surname, Rougemont, I discovered Knights Templar of Rougemont owned the Shroud of Turin and are kin to Otto de la Roche who owned the Holy Shroud – and declared himself Duke of Athens. I believe Templars did take part in the sacking of Constantinople. Indeed, it may have been their idea. Did they believe the Byzantine Empire was not providing enough support for the Holy Crusade?
