This morning I became a member of Alcohol Justice. I will share my story of how family members who hated Christine’s and my Twelve Step Program, and our sobriety, approved the publishing of a book by an outsider, that demonized us – for profit! I sent an e-mail to Gavin Newsom back in 1998, imploring him to help save our family Recovery. 2007-02-05 17:49:00 PST SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom said today that he will seek treatment for alcohol abuse.
“Upon reflection with friends and family this weekend, I have come to the conclusion that I will be a better person without alcohol in my life,” Newsom said in a written statement. “I take full responsibility for my personal mistakes and my problems with alcohol are not an excuse for my personal lapses in judgment.”
Friday I saw on the news Shaqqueal O’Neal spoke before Congress about binge drinking that is sweeping our Nation’s campuses like the plague. I lived a block from the University of Oregon and was alarmed for years at what I saw. This prompted me to call Congressman Lynn Woolsey. I talked to a gentleman in her office about my concerns for my grandson Tyler Hunt, who was encouraged to form a close bond with Bill Cornwell, a binge drinker who bragged about his out of control drunks on his Facebook that has been removed, along with my daughter’s Facebook that contained dozens of photos of my grandson with adults who are drunk. There is a remaining Facebook for Heather, but no one posts on it. I threatened to show these photos to Child Protective Sevices. Bill and Heather may have been banned from Facebook.
