President Donald Trump announced Friday that White House chief of staff Susie Wiles will step down this week, with Stephen Miller replacing her.
“I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Trump said Wiles has “done an outstanding job” and “will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!”
Moments later, Wiles wrote in a post on X that Friday would be her last day as chief of staff.
“Serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime. I’m so proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together from securing our border and cutting taxes to strengthening our economy and putting America First,” she wrote. “While my role may be changing, my commitment to the President and the mission never will.”
In mid-October, Trump said there was “zero chance” he was considering a replacement for Wiles, following reports from Politico and The Washington Post that she might step down after the election and that a handful of aides — all men — were jostling for the position.
Until now, Miller has served as White House deputy chief of staff for policy and as a homeland security adviser. He’s played an integral role to the Trump administration, especially its hard-line immigration and deportation policies. Miller previously served as an adviser and director of speechwriting during Trump’s first term as president and spent years on Capitol Hill as an aide to Republican lawmakers.

Toth defeated Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) in the GOP primary back in March, winning 55.79 percent of the vote to Crenshaw’s 40.69 percent.
President Trump endorsed Toth, making Crenshaw the only House Republican on the ballot in Texas without backing from the president.
Some conservatives, including Toth, characterized the former Navy SEAL’s voting record as insufficiently MAGA. Crenshaw also faced backlash within the parts of the conservative movement for not echoing the president’s unsubstantiated claims of election fraud in the 2020 election.
