Was the Richfield Oil Company lookin for oil up near Drake’s Bay? Edward On de Porten may be my kin. I suspect Associate Capital are Land Treasure Hunters, they pouring thru old city maps to look for abandoned property. How clever, if true! This may constitute the Last Gold and Land Rush in America!

It has been more than 60 years since Edward Von der Porten first saw the little cove just beyond a sandy Marin County beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore where Sir Francis Drake and a crew of seafarers claimed California for England.
The place, he thinks, is one of the most important historic sites in the United States. Drake’s visit to the Point Reyes area in spring 1579 happened 28 years before the first English colony in what is now the United States, and 41 years before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock.
“This is the first place the English claimed land in what is now the United States,” said Von der Porten, a teacher turned maritime scholar.
