Good Templars

Two days ago I talked to Bruce Lee Livingston on the phone about some of my family history, and how it might be applicable in fighting the harm alcoholism does to families and society. I told Bruce abut the Good Templars. There is a good chance I descend from the real Knight Templars via the Rougemonts, who I have proven owned the Shroud of Turin.  In 1998 I took the Vow of the Nazarite. Above is the Stuttmeister tomb in Berlin. They were Teutonic Knights.  In order to fight the plague of heroin and alcohol addiction, I am going to strengthen these orders, combine them in order to defeat the enemy.

Jon ‘The Nazarite’

Three guidelines are given to the Nazirite. Numbers 6:3-7 tells us that he/she was to abstain from wine or any fermented drink, nor was the Nazirite to drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins, not even the seeds or skins.

“Today, less political in nature, the order is known as the International Order of Good Templars or IOTG and operates worldwide in over 40 countries. As in the original organization, the IOTG admits men and women equally and promotes the ideas of temperance, peace and brotherhood. At this time it stands as the largest non-government run organization working in the field of temperance and has expanded its practice of temperance beyond mere alcohol to include narcotics and other drug dependencies.

While this modern day Templar namesake may not be similar to the originals in their consumption of alcohol, they do share the spirit of Templarism in fighting the good fight for a cause they believe in.

Alcohol Justice is the newest name of the Marin Institute, formerly known as the Marin Institute for the Prevention of Alcohol and Other Drug Problems.

In reporting its new name, the former Marin Institute finally acknowledged that “we aren’t a research organization as ‘institute’ implies.” The fact that the Marin Institute wasn’t a research organization has long been noted by observers, although the activist group has often presented itself to the public and media as engaging in research.

Alcohol Justice is a massively endowed temperance-oriented organization that has picked up the anti-alcohol banner previously carried by earlier temperance groups. It is even recognized for its activities by the Prohibition Party. 1 Yes, the Prohibition Party still exists and has thousands of members and millions of supporters.

Alcohol Justice is funded by the Buck Trust, whose founders directed that its resources be used exclusively for the good of the people of Marin County, California. 2 In spite of that mandate, Alcohol Justice now engages in nation-wide temperance activities. 3 The Buck Trust assets are reported to be about one billion dollars. 4

In addition, Alcohol Justice has received many millions of dollars of taxpayer’s money at both state and federal levels. Millions of that have been channeled through the federal Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, a very controversial agency.

Independent Order of Good Templars

One day in 1832 Joseph Livesey made a conscious decision that he wouldn’t drink any more alcohol. To make it a solemn vow he and seven fellow workmen signed a pledge to that effect and thus the temperance movement began. This act prompted many like-minded men to follow suit and by the year 1835 “The British Association for the Promotion of Temperance” was formed.

But the United Kingdom was not the only place where “spirits” of moderation, if you’ll pardon the pun, were taking root. In the United States and other countries many were making a decision to omit hard spirits from their lives and in some cases a total abstinence from alcohol was the order of the day.

As is almost always the case when three people get together with the same ideas, one will inevitably grab a gavel, another a pen and paper and the last will guard the door. Then is born a secret society or fraternal order. The temperance movement was no exception. The movement, which seems to have simultaneously popped up in the UK and North America in the 1830’s, led to the birth of many temperance fraternal societies in the early years of the 1840s.

With regard to the American ones the first seems to have been the Sons of Temperance, which began in New York City in 1842. Unlike many fraternal organizations, the “Sons” admitted men and women into its doors. There were, as with most fraternal orders and societies, secret rituals, passwords and handshakes. Members wore regalia. Although noble in its ambitions it met with some contrary thought in the growing temperance movement. Many people felt that a “Secret Society” might not be in the best interests of the movement.

Be that as it may, temperance fraternal orders grew and in the same year of 1842 the Independent Order of Rechabites was formed as an offshoot of the English order of the same name, but which had an earlier pedigree, starting in 1835. Unlike the Sons of Temperance, the Rechabites was a male only temperance society. However there was a female counterpart called the Daughters of Rechab. The Rechabites preached total abstinence and met in “tents” as opposed to lodges. This name for their gatherings was figurative and not literal and comes from the Rechabites found in the book of Jeremiah, who abstained from wine and lived in tents.

“And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine. But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever.”

Jeremiah 35: 5-6

But the reader must ask what has Temperance to do with the Knights Templar? Very little if one considers that in the later years of the original order, the Templars became so known for their drinking of alcohol that a common expression of the day for a drunkard was, “He drinks like a Templar.” It is unknown whether those in the temperance movement where aware of this old saying, but many of the orders of the 1800’s adapted the name of the Templars.

“The Marshall Temperance Fraternity” was established in 1845 and later on changed their name to “The Marshall Temple.” Still later they changed again to the “Sons of Honor” and finally settled on “The Templars of Honor and Temperance.”

They seem to have modeled themselves on the earlier Sons of Temperance and used a system of six degrees based on the legend of Damon and Pythias as well as the aforementioned Knights Templar. Like the Sons of Temperance they had traditional fraternal modes of recognition including passwords, grips and the traditional regalia such as collars and aprons. Like most of the temperance fraternities, the order is not in existence today.

There is however, one temperance order that is in existence still and that is The Independent order of Good Templars. The IOOGT was founded in Utica New York in 1851 and was originally known as the Knights of Jericho. It used a three-degree system, collars and aprons like in Freemasonry. Regalia is no longer used by the modern counterpart.

Although similar to the Sons of Temperance, which began in 1842, they claimed that their organization was superior because they weren’t bothered with selling life insurance to the membership, something their predecessors were actively engaged in.

In 1859 the Good Templars formed their platform of six items concerning their stand on the temperance movement:

“1st – Total abstinence from all intoxicating liquors as a beverage

2nd – No license in any form or under any circumstances for the sale of such liquors to be used as a beverage.

3rd – The absolute prohibition of the manufacture, importation and sale of intoxicating liquors for such purposes-prohibition by the will of the people, expressed in due form of law with the penalties descried for a crime of such enormity.

4th – The creation of a healthy public opinion upon the subject by active dissemination of truth in all the modes known to an enlightened philanthropy.

5th – The election of good, honest men to administer the laws.

6th – Persistence in efforts to save individuals and communities from so direful a scourge against all forms of opposition and difficulty until our success is complete and universal.”

The next few years of the organization would see many new members admitted to the order. In 1865 the order had 60,000 members and with the end of the Civil War behind them the order had over 400,000 members by 1869. These members seemed dissatisfied with the Republican and Democratic parties and in 1869 the Prohibition Party was formed. It attracted only a small number of voters, but occasionally, as in the case of the close political race of 1884 between Cleveland and Blaine, may well have played the spoiler in this evenly matched race. Many historians contend that this may well have been the case. In New York State the Prohibition Candidate, John P. St. John received 25,000 votes and Blaine lost the state by only 1,149 votes. Many of those voters were no doubt Good Templars casting what they felt to be the “good vote.”

Today, less political in nature, the order is known as the International Order of Good Templars or IOTG and operates worldwide in over 40 countries.

The Nazirite/Nazarite vow is taken by individuals who have voluntarily dedicated themselves to God. The vow is a decision, action, and desire on the part of people whose desire is to yield themselves to God completely. By definition, the Hebrew word nazir, simply means “to be separated or consecrated.” The Nazirite vow, which appears in Numbers 6:1-21, has five features. It is voluntary, can be done by either men or women, has a specific time frame, has specific requirements and restrictions, and at its conclusion a sacrifice is offered.

First, the individual enters into this vow voluntarily. The Bible says, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of separation to the LORD as a Nazirite’” (Numbers 6:2). This shows that it is individuals who take the initiative to consecrate themselves to the Lord. There is no divine command involved. While generally done by the individual by his own choice, two individuals in the Old Testament, and one in the New Testament, were presented to God by their parents. Samuel and Samson in the Old Testament, (1 Samuel 2:8-28; Judges 13:1-5), and John the Baptist in the New Testament received the Nazirite vow from birth (Luke 1:13-17).

Second, both men and women could participate in this vow, as Numbers 6:2 indicates, “a man or woman.” The Nazirite vow was often taken by men and women alike purely for personal reasons, such as thanksgiving for recovery from illness or for the birth of a child. However, under the Mosaic law, the vow or oath of a single woman could be rescinded by her father, and that of a married woman by her husband (Numbers 30).

Third, the vow had a specific time frame, a beginning and an end as these two statements indicate: “Throughout the period of his separation he is consecrated to the LORD… Now this is the law for the Nazirite when the period of his separation is over” (Numbers 6:8, 13a). So, the Nazirite vow usually had both a beginning and an end.

Fourth, there were specific guidelines and restrictions involved with the Nazirite vow. Three guidelines are given to the Nazirite. Numbers 6:3-7 tells us that he/she was to abstain from wine or any fermented drink, nor was the Nazirite to drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins, not even the seeds or skins. Next, the Nazirite was not to cut his hair for the length of the vow. Last, he was not to go near a dead body, because that would make him ceremonially unclean. Even if a member of his immediate family died, he was not to go near the corpse.

Numbers 6:13-20 shows the procedure to follow to complete the vow. A sacrifice was made (vv.13-17), the candidate’s hair was cut and put on the altar, and the priest did the final task of completing the sacrificial process, which ended the vow (v. 20). This section concludes with the statement, “This is the law of the Nazirite who vows his offering to the LORD in accordance with his separation, in addition to whatever else he can afford. He must fulfill the vow he has made, according to the law of the Nazirite”(6:21).

Although the Nazirite vow is an Old Testament concept, there is a New Testament parallel to the Nazirite vow. In Romans 12:1-2 Paul states, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” For Christians, the ancient Nazirite vow symbolizes the need to be separate from this world, a holy people consecrated to God (2 Timothy 1:9; 1 Peter 1:15).

“U.S. authorities warn that IS poses the greatest threat in years with its “apocalyptic” vision.”

How many of my readers thought I had really flipped when I saw the awakening of a apocalyptic nightmare in the artwork of my ex-wife, Mary Ann Tharaldsen?

Pope Francis has called for a new crusade, but stops short of bidding Christians to take up arms. Instead, he called upon the secular United Nations to intervene on the behalf of religious people.

For over a month, I have been seeking a way to found a secular state, or cyber-nation, that would be a sanctuary to secular peoples such as my Jewish mathematician friends. I call upon Francis to call for a world-wide truce, and bid all Christian sects to end their long holy crusade against secular non-believers that are being targeted by ISIS. I am poised to found a new Knight Templar Order that will be secular in nature, but will contain a religious branch.

I am going to do a mock-up of a modern day secular I-Ching based upon the novels of Thomas Pynchon, where the literary genius crowd can consult the Pyhng-Ching using 49 of the 50 yarrow sticks in order to grasp what kind of secular day they can look forward to, or, own another clue who Tom was, and where he is at. He is the Liberal Confucius of our day.

ISIS has called my President a “crusader” who is spreading Freemasonry. The Templars have been associated with the Masons. This suggests ISIS was born on the World Wide Web spun by a rose-colored spider up in her high tower. Since June 30th, when I posted my apocolyptic vision, the whole world has had to bring out its weaving spider in order to repair the rents made my ISIS. They have put the world on the defense, which gives them the upper hand. This is why God born prophets to be warning sirens. The Benton family were Freemasons.

When the Pope called for the last crusade, there was no democracy in the world. The Papacy controlled the royalty of the world, and defended the divine right of kings. The Protestant religion did not exist. My ancestors were there at its inception. Pope Adrien came up with his own Reformation, and rescued the Knights of Saint John from Malta. Adrien also had Rosemondt found the Pope’s college for poor students.

The Rosamonds were in Basle when the weavers had their reformation that called for the world’s first democracy. This is key, for ISIS is first a threat to Democracy, then Religion. Sectarian Warfare has torn the world apart. Consider Ghandi and India and the rise of the neo-Confederate evangelical Red State Doomsayers who took over our Congress claiming their brand of Jesus founded a Democracy. Prove it!

But for John the Baptist, when Jesus rose from the water of his baptism, not one believer did he behold, Everyman was his potential friend. Jesus has evolved in to a simple Man of Democracy. What banner does he wave?
God has His own banner. It is not red, white, and blue!

The Catholic Church has engaged in forceful conversions, and ISIS is a Deadly Ghost from that Papal history. Denis de Rougemont co-founded the United Nations, and may be kin to the Rougemont Knights Templar who I proved owned the Shroud of Turin. For this reason I claim rightful ownership of the Linen Shroud in the name of my Rosamond Family Weavers who belonged to the Linen Weavers Guilds of Basle, and fought in the American Revolution under the “Don’t Tread On Me” flag in South Carolina.

I declare the image on this linen to be a Democratic Man born in America in 1776, and was crucified for wanting to free the slaves and for wanting women to won the right to vote. He is our Democratic Liberator and Gonfalon. As I see it, President Barack Obama, has come to the aid of those in dire stress, employing our Democratic Armed Forces against real Evil.

Our President is much more than a Crusader. The long silenced voices of the Knights Templar of Fontenette, salute our Commander in Chief.

In an apparent reference to the United States, Francis said “one nation alone cannot judge” the best means of stopping groups like ISIS, which calls itself the Islamic State. Those decisions should be made collectively by the United Nations, the pontiff said.

The Ark upon the mountain
The Dove and Branch upon the sea
The hammers of iniquity
beat upon my forgotten tomb
I am awake upon the turbulant waters
My enemies cast lots
and blame me for their sins
while God’s friends
read me on the Day of Atonement
so all will be saved
so all will be united in peace
The sun went down on me
so long ago
The vine that grew over my head
has wilted in the desert of forgetfulness
But, there on a mountian
a purple haze
a rosy afterglow
in a King’s rosegarden atop a mount
that bid noble knights to climb hither
that beckon knights to sever a thread
and once again
be brave

“Senior Pentagon officials described the Islamic State (Isis) militant group as an “apocalyptic” organization that posed an “imminent threat” on Thursday, yet the highest-ranking officer in the US military said that in the short term, it was sufficient for the United States to “contain” the group that has reshaped the map of Iraq and Syria.”

I wrote about Thomas Pynchon’s apocalyptic visions. In the painting he refers to, I see the eight beauties weaving the Holy Shroud of Turin.

European leaders face calls to take direct action against the Islamic State including in Syria after the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley, but politicians are reluctant to take the lead after previous missteps in the region.

Bennett Rosamond and I look alike. At the Mill I asked our guide, Bill, about a “weaver’s needle”. He showed me an object that could not have been what the Rougemonts wore on Crusade. We talked to five elderly women in the weaving room, and they concluded the needle was a spindle. I found myself in a living Fairy Tale, and Templar Legend.
On the floor of the mill was wool. We were given a sample to touch. The woman next to me asked if we could keep it, and gave half to me. See photo above of my piece of yarn.

Here is a post made October 3, 2011

The Rosenmund cote of arms contains a cross. Only a family that went on crusade can put a cross on their shield. This cross is made up of a weaving hook, according to the Rosamond family genealogists, and was worn as a tunic pin by the Rougemont Crusaders. What this cross is, is a spindle. The Knights Templar of Fontenotte had a spindle on the marker outside their chapel where in the place of roses, they have two camels that represent the Outremer, the Kingdom of God that was lost to Islam. It is time to awaken that kingdom from a long sleep.

The Templar cross is a spindle viewed from the top. We see it laid down on the monument. This is my revelation after attending a weavers convention at the Lane County fairgrounds where I saw a spindle that looked like a cross. I talked to an expert who was present, and he said this cross design had been around before the Crusades. This is evidence my Rosamond/Rougemont ancestors were Knights Templar.

Grimms named Briar Rose, Rosamond. She is pricked by a spindle and falls asleep. Her father’s kingdom falls asleep with her.

My grandfather, Royal Rosamond, was born of two roses, William Thomas Rosamond, and Ida Louisiana Rose. My mother was Rosemary Rosamond. Her mother was Mary Magdalene Rosamond. My late sister was Christine Rosamond Benton.

Gottschalk Rosemont gifted the Vatican with a large building that contained the weavers guilds of the Netherlands. This became Leuvain College where his grandson was master. Gottschalk Rosemont was the master of Falcom Art College, and wrote a book ‘Confessionals’ that he signed with the image of a rose, that is the same rose the Royal Family of Holland wear, but, in full bloom. This is the emblem of the Swan Brethren.

Above is the Rosamond cote of arms that has a cross made of a weavers needle on a mount with two flowers. You can not have a cross in your cote of arms unless your kindred went on crusade. Did the Lords of Rougemont and Florimont go on Crusade? I believe they went as Knights Templar.

The Rosamond family were weavers for countless generations. Surely we took interest in the story of Sleeping Beauty. Perhaps, it is a family yarn whose woof and weave connects us to the bloodline of the Swan Knight? Hans Ulrich Rosemond was a weaver. Ulrich means “wolf ruler’, and Hans is John.

A month into World War Two, German troops entered the city of Louvain and utterly destroyed it because freedom fighter were allegedly sniping at the Kaizer’s men. Atrocities were committed. Nuns were stripped naked in search of weapons. Citizens were herded off to concecration camps. Louvain College was burned to the ground along with four Art Colleges. One of them was the Falcon Art College of which my ancestor Godeschald Rosemondt was the Master. Was his artwork lost in the flames?
Above is a photo of Rosemondt’s book that he signs with a Rose and Mont. There is a Habsburg cote of arms and a emplem for the Falcon College. The Rosemondts were members of the Swan Brethren who wore a pen of a closed rose surrounded by thorns.

Here is the story of the Sleeping Beauty Princess named Rosamond and a beautiful city full of Artists and Thinkers that is destroyed because of the Kulturekumpf (cutlure war) The Kaizer is waging against Catholics. Louvain is a famous Cathlic University that was established in a Weaver’s Hall donated by another Godeschalk Rosemondt. Losing a Weaver’s Rebellion, many weaver families fled to England.

I just found out about the destruction of Louvain this morning. I believe much of the Rosemondt Family history was lost. I believe I was born to raise it from the ashes. I am The Rose of the World.
The cote of arms of Louvain depicts a open book with empty pages. Consider the Faun showing Ofelia the book of the Crossroads – the Rose Crossroads. The Louvain atrocity preceeds the atrocities of Franco against the Freedom Fighters of Spain, and the Jews of Germany. Louvain was a portal into the future, a bell that sounded a warning.

A Seer said I go each knight to a place the Rosicrucians discovered called ‘The Catherdral of the Souls’ where I have a reserved seat at a great wooden table. There is a hood figure standing behind because I am……..The One.

Awake and rise my dear Roses! Arise!

“Peter Rosemond further reported information from the Records Office in Basle that “before Basle the family resided in Holland up to 1338, and it is said they descended from the estate Rosemont, near Belfort, in France, where also the village Rougemont is found.”

A family coat-of-arms was registered in Basle about 1537 when the first Hans became a resident there. A reproduction of this coat-of-arms in the writer’s possession shows a weaver’s crook conspicuously, and it will be remembered that in Ireland our people were linen weavers and farmers, and that Edward, the elder, was a weaver in this country. Peter Rosemond had seen in print the letters from Erasmus to Gotschalk Rosemondt. He noticed that a seal used by a Rosemont in Holland, bearing a jumping fox,
was like an emblem he had noticed in a wall of the house Rebleuten-
Zunft in Basle. This seal dated back to 1430, whereas the coat-of-
arms above mentioned dates from 1534, it seems.

Their backing of Trump is an abomination. I will restore the hidden cultural Rennasiance that came to America with the Dutch.
