As the only reporter for my small town newspaper I have resorted to tricks in order to get attention. Some times my tricks worked, and sometimes my pranks got me in a world of trouble. On Thursday I read there was going to be a company from New York taking our free opinions and selling them to the city. I thought it is best to gather these opinions and present them for free!
“I like to do weird portraits of animals,” Levy, who typically paints, said. “I once did our dog as Marie Antoinette.”
Artists from across the area flocked to a half-acre lot across Fifth Street from city hall and the Springfield Public Library Saturday, drawing dragons, mermaids, angels, Pokémon characters, rivers and more.
The event, put on by the Eugene Springfield Art Project, gave each entrant a square of space up to 6 feet long by 6 feet wide to spend the day drawing on. Winners in youth and adult categories won prizes from $100 to $600.
“It’s just about the art-making community wanting to make art accessible to everyone, bring the community together to explore different mediums of art,” said Mija Andrade, event coordinator with Eugene Springfield Art Project.
