If my daughter and her mother had been on my side, then you would be reading a minor miracle. Instead, they acted out how Paul took over the church of Jesus and John, and corrupted their teaching.
What if, Jesus appear in a cloud over the Vatican and ordered the Catholics to let Charlie Manson out of jail – and make him the Vicar of Christ so he could prepare the way for the third coming? Would you be afraid if Pope Charlie pointed you out as a trouble maker, someone who could not go along with his new improved program? Paul had armed killers at his disposal – for how long?
This is a young church that is struggling for its life! Why throw Paul into the mix, an act that no doubt drove many from this first church. If Paul tortured and killed members of my family, I would never walk into any church that had anything to do with Paul. Why would God, or Jesus, put believers to such a test?
