she2I had read ‘She’ just before I died – and came back. When I wrote most of ‘Golden Girls of the Corn Cob’ I do not think Rosamond was that well known. She had not yet married into the Benton family. Rena was somewhat based on She “the one who must be obeyed” because everyone of her wishes, was my command. I worshipped the ground SHE walked on. The idea there was a alien stowaway onboard ‘President Eisenhower’ (name of my Dodge) as we made our way over the mountain, is eerie. James Harkins was a great believer in aliens. Members of our household went up to the Lyman commune all the time. I went up there after the first snow and encountered a Family Guard packing a piece.

I think Jessie Benton was the real force to be reckoned with.
