Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born in South Africa ‘The Land of She’ where the author Henry Rider Haggard fought the Boars, and where he placed his famous heroine. Tolkien was inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite author and artist, William Morris who was my hero in 1969 a year before I met Rena Easton who was my model for my Pre-Raphaelite Revival painting that inspired Rosamond to take up art.
