I found a painting of John the Baptist at the Portland Museum. I was named after John because my mother believed I was born on the Day of Atonement. This painting is about folks listening to John’s (silenced) message, but, he is pointing (by mistake?)to Jesus lurking off in the shadow ready to emerge. Was Jesus John’s Muse, or the Puppet Master. Was John just a shadow where Jesus lurked? Why was John being employed in this hocus-pocus? I wondered if these questions could be answered IF I lurked about the muesum – or became the museum!

Da Vinci did several paintings of John. I began my investigation with a train ride, and, got a big clue at the Rose & Raven. Or was it the Raven and Rose?
