I Love My Look

Carrie Fisher did a screenplay about Christine Rosamond Benton who may be kin to Carrie and Elizabeth Roseond Taylor – who loved her look! She also loved for folks to look at the jewelry she wore – like European Royalty. Because she was knighted and made a Dame of the Royal House of Britain, she, and other famous actors are in the peerage. If it is true Liz is my kin, then………..?

“All is vanity!”

LOOK AT MY JEWELRY

Liz had a famous art collection to go with her jewels. This is traditional amongst European Royalty. Liz’s uncle bid his niece to collect. Howard bought art for oil tycoons, and American billionaires. He had good taste. He married Mabel Rosemond.

Micheal Jackson was Liz’s good who also collected art, and had portraits done that all cried ‘Look at me!”

Sara South was liz’s mother’s stage name. Consider Sara Moon and his images that are rosy threads in the golden net cast into the cyber sea in order to Capture Beauty!

I bank on my looks. I am Getty Image!

Patrons of the exhibition, which runs through Dec. 12, will certainly flock to one of Taylor’s most prized possessions — a 33.19-carat, emerald cut diamond ring. The estimated worth of the gift Burton gave her in 1968 is $2.5 million to $3.5 million.

Thomas W. Burstein of Christie’s said the only time the famous ring left Taylor’s hand was when she offered it up to friends to try on. “She really had this notion that the jewelry should be shared and loved by everybody,” he said.

One of the most precious items of the collection is a 16th century pear-shaped pearl, the centerpiece of a ruby and diamond necklace designed by Cartier and Taylor herself.

“This is such a rare piece. I compare it to the Hope diamond,” Burstein said.

The necklace’s estimated worth is $2 million to $3 million.

The exhibition is also a journey through Taylor’s evolving fashion sense, from her glamorous red carpet gowns to a chorus line of colorful kaftans and a bevy of beaded Versace jackets. The second floor offers a look at Taylor’s vibrant purse and shoe collection, a sea of gold Hermes bags, sequin Chanel clutches and satin Louboutins.

Meredith Etherington-Smith, curator of Taylor’s fashion collection, called the exhibit a glimpse into Taylor’s “tempestuous, fabulous, technicolor personality that epitomizes gutsy glamour.”

The collection will be up for auction both live and online Dec. 13-17. Part of the proceeds will go to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

Francis Lenn Taylor

Francis Lenn Taylor was born 28 Dec 1897 in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois, the son of Francis Marion Taylor by his wife Elizabeth Mary Rosemond. The family is living in the town of Cherokee in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma, where his father, also named Francis “Frank” is listed in the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, as a salesman in a dry goods store. C. David Heymann in his “Liz: An Intimate Biography of Elizabeth Taylor” states that his father “operated the local general store” (p13). He there quotes Nona Smith, a classmate of Francis’ from Cherokee, as saying that all the girls thought Francis was “very handsome”. But C. David seems to confuse where Elizabeth’s parents Francis and Sarah first met, thinking it was in this town.

By 1915 the Taylors had moved to Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas, where they are all listed living together in Kansas’ Special State Census that year. His father became a traveling salesman by 1920 which was then most commonly known as a “Commercial Traveler”, which is how he is listed in the federal census that year. It’s very likely that Francis had first met his future wife Sarah Viola Warmbrodt in Arkansas City, since she was also living in that same city with her parents from 1900 to at least 1920. Since she was about fifteen months older then he, they must have gone to the same high school together. Her parents are said to have at first opposed the friendship, as she was a year ahead of him in school.

Francis next appears living in 1917/18 in St Louis, Missouri on his World War I Draft Registration Card, where he lists himself as “secretary to Howard Young”, who had married Mabel Rosemond (1880-1955), his mother’s younger sister. Francis’ uncle Howard Young (1878-1972), living in St Louis, had taken a small photography studio, and developed an art buying and selling business. He took Francis with him to be his secretary, but by 1920, Howard, Mabel and Francis had all relocated to New York City. Where that year, they are all living at 620 Fifth Avenue.

In 1922 Francis was living at 34 West 58th Street, while Howard and Mabel lived in the Carlton House. In Jul 1925 he is living at 634 Fifth Avenue. In Jul 1926 he is living at 55 55th Street. Meanwhile, Sarah, who had moved with her own parents to California, became a stage actress, using the name “Sara Sothern”. In one newspaper article from this time period it describes her as having been a resident of Lawndale, California. She played parts in various cities including extended work in New York City. Perhaps Francis and Sarah bumped into each other there again. However they managed to meet and court, they ended up getting married 23 Oct 1926 in New York City.

In Jul 1927, Francis and Sara Taylor are living at 55 55th Street. The family moved to London when Francis was transferred to manage Young’s London gallery. The exact date or even year is not yet known to me but on 4 Dec 1929, sailing from Southampton and arriving in New York City 12 Dec 1929 I find “Francis Lenn Taylor, born Springfield, Illinois 28 Dec 1897; Sara W Taylor, born Arkansas City, Kansas 21 Aug 1895; and Howard Francis Taylor, 5 months old, (birthplace not specified); Address in U.S.: Madison Hotel, New York City”

On 9 Dec 1930, sailing from Southampton and arriving in New York City, I find: “Francis Taylor, Sara, and Howard” all then living at “2 East 70th Street, New York City”. On 19 Jul 1934 sailing from Southampton, arriving in New York City, I find: “Francis Taylor, Sarah, Howard and Elizabeth” all then living at “677 5th Avenue, New York City”.

Evidently their oldest child Howard was born in London, and this is how their daughter Elizabeth Taylor came to be born in London a few years after Howard.

On 20 Nov 1936, sailing from Southampton, arriving in New York City : “Francis Taylor, Sarah, Howard born 27 Jun 1929 London, and Elizabeth born 27 Feb 1932 London” then living at “2 E 70th Street, New York City”. On 21 Oct 1939, sailing from Southampton, arriving in New York City, Francis Taylor, born in Springfield 1897, living at 1 E 57th St, New York City”.

Just before the start of World War II, they moved again to Los Angeles, California in or around 1939, where Francis ran an art gallery in Beverly Hills. In the 1946 California Voter’s Registration in Beverly Hills I find : “Francis L Taylor, Mrs Sara S Taylor, 703 N Elm Dr” both listed as Republican. They are still listed there through 1954, still both listed as Republican. In Apr 1958, Francis and Sara went together to London for a month. Francis died in his sleep, 20 Nov 1968 “at his Bel Air home” and is buried in Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery, Westwood, California.

Howard Young starting out with a photography studio, became a wealthy art dealer, hobnobbing with the rich and famous. Today he is forgotten except for his minor claim to fame of being the great-uncle of Elizabeth Taylor

Stephen Howard Young, who sometimes went by S Howard Young, or just Howard Young, was born in Belle Center, Ohio, on 22 May 1878 the eldest child of Philip Young and his wife Mary Funk. A late biography or perhaps obituary states that he “left his home at the age of 10 to make his way in the world” which of course is nonsense. It is true however, that he started young in the art of photography. However the idea that he amassed a fortune of $400,000 and then lost it, is again nonsense.

He married Mabel Rosemond in 1900, whose sister had married Francis Taylor. Francis Taylor and Elizabeth Rosemond, had a son also called Francis Taylor who was the father of the actress Elizabeth Taylor. Thus Howard Young and Mabel Rosemond, were her great-uncle and great-aunt. They moved to St Louis, Missouri where in the World War I Draft Registration of Francis Taylor we find that he lists himself as “secretary to Howard Young”.

[Edit]
By 1920 the Youngs, with Francis Taylor had relocated to New York City where Howard opened the Howard Young Galleries showcasing work of various artists of the United States and eventually Europe as well. He and Francis went on art buying expeditions as well.

Howard was class conscious, when Francis Taylor wanted to marry the actress Sarah Viola Warmbrodt known on the stage as “Sara Sothern”, Young opposed the match, until Sarah informed him that she intended to quit the stage. Francis and Sarah located in London, to start that cities branch of the Howard Young Galleries, and it was here that they had their two children Howard Taylor, named for his uncle, and Elizabeth Taylor the actress.

Howard worth several million dollars, had a penthouse in New York City overlooking Central Park, as well as a home in Wisconsin, one in Florida, and one in Connecticut. Howard was a friend of President Eisenhower. When Elizabeth Taylor’s boyfriend Glenn Davis was going to be shipped to the war in Korea, she tried to get her uncle to talk to Ike, to let Glenn out of the Army.

According to Jimmy Rosamond, the late actress, Elizabeth Rosemond Tyalor, is my kin. Dame Elizabeth is in the Peerage. Over ten years ago Elizabeth put a short biography, along with the top photo, on the Rosamond geneaology website. Then it was gone. She may now be kin to the Stewarts, and her children may want to take the DNA test so we may gather our roses, bring them into the Rose of the World Garden.

I am looking for descendants of Philip Rosemond and Moses Morton Rosemond
who lived in Guernsey County, OH in the mid-1800s. This family descended
from a James Rosemond who lived in County Leitrim, Ireland in the early
1700s. Other members of this same family settled in Lanark, Ontario, Canada.
The southern Rosamond family is also said to be descended from this same
family, as are the Rosamond families in Australia and New Zealand. I am
trying to tie all the branches of the family together. The information on
the family in Guernsey County, OH is shown below. I’d appreciate hearing
from anyone who has any information regarding this family.
The reference for the earlier generations of this family is the booklet “The
History of the Rosemond Family” by Leland Eugene Rosemond, 1939.
Thanks.

I am kin to all members of the Getty family via my cousin, Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor. With this attack on my kin, by Alcohol Justice, who is in a massive conflict of interested with Wells Fargo Bank, it is time to assess the damage. What bank had the Getty family used for their enterprises? Is this bank, or, banks in competition with Wells Fargo – who is the real owner of the wineries and breweries they have invested in. I gave branded the name ROSAMOND via my famous sister and grandfather, the writer who knew Black Mask authors. For The Love of Art | Rosamond Press
