I spent two hours this evening looking at actresses. I found the perfect actor to play Victoria Bond. In an interview Raffey Cassidy she says her favorited movie is ‘Hanna’. It is on my top three list. I have watched it twice because I love the rhythm of it, the charge towards the enemy. Only Victory will suffice. She flips the switch.
“Bring it on!”
The beginning of my book ‘The Royal Janitor’ depicts a young girl who befriends a tough old tugboat captain named Anna. I was having trouble with the age of Victoria and did not want to do flashbacks. At sixteen, Raffey can pass for seventeen, then eighteen. We can watch Victoria grow up before our eyes as she takes in the grave respondibility put before. From standing in the wheelhouse of a tugboat, she finds herself in the conning tower of a Royal Navy Aircraft carrier.
Raffey says another movie she likes is ‘Mad Max’. This tells me Raffey is a Survivalist. When asked what kind of per she wanted, she said;
“A wolf!”
With this scant information I can get into the head of Raffey and see HER movie flickering with an out of control energy. She needs to be out of control so she can feel who she is. While her peers are walking about like zombies looking down at her cellphones, Victoria feels the stirring of the Old Empire in the core of her being. There is a young Lord inside her that wants to go search for the source of the Nile. She is not a Tomboy. She is a Brit, the way God made them for three thousand years. She wants to paint herself blue and throw herself against Roman shields – in a fit of rage!She wants to go bezerk! She needs to destroy Britiania’s enemys.
Then, she gets the calling. She owns a high power. She gets a glimpse of immortality. Being immortal, has no age. Duty, and Destiny, pushes the British Man of War into all waters! She is Nike. Seasooned officers in the Royal Navy knows she has the sight. She can smell the ememy over the horizon.
When she gets real excited she exposes her pixkie ear. Some call it a wolf ear. Others give her a sign of prosperity. Of course she is a Vulcun. She does not fight fair. When ever danger arises, she runs away as fast as she can. Her pursuer will soon know why.
Raffey Cassidy is a combination of two movie stars of old. I see Elizabeth Taylor an Peggy Ann Garner. I would like to see Victoria Bond inspire young people to read. When I was sixteen I did a painting inspired by the clothesline scene.
Life is earnest. Live long, and proper!
