“I have been a James Bond fan all of my life, and when Ian Fleming’s family invited me to contribute to the 007 canon, it was quite literally a dream come true.
I was born in Camden in 1989 and grew up in London. I write at the same desk I used as a child when visiting my grandfather’s house. My grandfather, the actor George Baker, was an actor who appeared in several James Bond films, notably as Sir Hilary Bray in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

While the world waits for more news about the next major cinematic adventures of James Bond, the adventures of 007, and other Double O agents are still very much alive in the pages of new books. And now, one acclaimed series of Bond books has finally announced the conclusion of a trilogy. If you’ve slept on Kim Sherwood’s Double O novels, now is the time to catch up. The third book, which will feature James Bond as central to the plot, has just revealed its title and release date.
Hurricane Room, a James Bond novel, is coming in 2026
As revealed by author Kim Sherwood, Harper Fiction, and Ian Fleming publications on Instagram, the third book in Sherwood’s Double O series is titled Hurricane Room. This title is taken from a line from the book version of From Russia With Love, which reads: “Bond went to his hurricane room only when the situation was beyond his control and no other possible action could be taken…”
This refers to Bond’s mental state under extreme duress. The two previous books, Double or Nothing (2022) and A Spy Like Me (2024), dealt with the adventures of various other Double O agents, while James Bond was presumed missing. The cliffhanger of A Spy Like Me found agent 003, Johanna Harwood, finding Bond, who pulled a gun on her and fired.
What is the Release Date of Hurricane Room?

Kim Sherwood’s conclusion of the Double O trilogy, Hurricane Room, will be published in May 2026. This book will not only wrap up Sherwood’s impressive Double O series but also be the first book of the trilogy to feature James Bond as a main character. In the previous two books, 003, 000, 004, and 009 were all major characters. That said, Harwood’s (003) past relationship with Bond has been explored in the first two books, meaning we’ve gotten a good deal of Bond in flashback in those stories.
But this time, Bond himself will be back, front and center. For longtime Bond fans, or those who have never picked up a Bond book, the Double O novels are fantastic thrillers, and Hurricane Room is bound to be just as good, if not better.
Kim Sherwood (born October 4, 1988) is an author and creative writing lecturer. Born in Camden in 1988, she has taught at the University of Sussex, UWE, and in schools, libraries and prisons, and now lectures at the University of Edinburgh, where she lives in the city.

Background
Her first novel, Testament, was published in 2018. Inspired by the lives of her grandparents – one of whom is a Hungarian Jewish Survivor of the Holocaust, another of whom was a father-figure to her –it follows the impact of the Holocaust across three generations of a family, from 1944 to the present. Testament won the Bath Novel Award and the Harper’s Bazaar Big Book of the Year, was shortlisted for the Author’s Club Best First Novel Award, and long-listed for the Desmond Elliott Prize. In 2019, Kim was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award.
Her grandfather was George Baker, who played heraldry expert Sir Hilary Bray in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (also providing Bond’s voice while he impersonates Bray) and Captain Benson, James Bond’s ally in the film The Spy Who Loved Me.
James Bond/Double O Trilogy
Kim is currently writing a new trilogy of James Bond novels for the Ian Fleming Estate, expanding the universe with a cast of Double O agents for the 21st century. HarperCollins Publishers have acquired the UK & Commonwealth and US & Canadian rights. The first title will be released September 2022.
On her love for James Bond: “It’s rare that dreams come true, and I am grateful to the Fleming family for this incredible opportunity. I feel honoured to be the first novelist to expand the Bond universe through the Double 0-sector, bringing new life to old favourites and fresh characters to the canon.”
As for Bond she says he’s “one of the enduring loves of my life since I first watched Pierce Brosnan dive from the dam in GoldenEye.”
On October 31, 2022, she reported on social media that she had handed her draft for the second book in her Double 0 trilogy. It was released in April 2024 under the name A Spy Like Me.
On August 1, 2025, she announced on social media that her third Double 0 book would be called Hurricane Room. It is set to be released in May 2026.

About the author
Thank you so much for visiting my Author Page, it’s lovely to have you here. I am the author of Testament (2018), which was longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize, shortlisted for the Best First Novel Award, and won the Bath Novel Award and the Harper’s Bazaar Big Book Award; and Double or Nothing (2022), the first in a trilogy of Double O novels expanding the James Bond universe. My next novel will be A Wild & True Relation (2023), a historical adventure novel about smugglers, women and writing through the centuries.
I have been a James Bond fan all of my life, and when Ian Fleming’s family invited me to contribute to the 007 canon, it was quite literally a dream come true. In Double or Nothing, James Bond is missing. 007 has been captured, perhaps even killed, by a sinister private military company. His whereabouts are unknown. Meet the new generation of spies… Johanna Harwood, 003. Joseph Dryden, 004. Sid Bashir, 009. Together, they represent the very best and brightest of MI6. Skilled, determined and with a licence to kill, they will do anything to protect their country. The fate of the world rests in their hands… Tech billionaire Sir Bertram Paradise claims he can reverse the climate crisis and save the planet. But can he really? The new spies must uncover the truth, because the future of humanity hangs in the balance. Time is running out… It’s been the honour of a lifetime to write this novel, and I am so excited to introduce readers to my new Double O heroes.
A Wild & True Relation opens during the Great Storm of 1703, as smuggler Tom West confronts his lover Grace for betraying him to the Revenue. Leaving Grace’s cottage in flames, he takes her orphaned daughter Molly on board ship disguised as a boy to join his crew. But Molly, or Orlando as she must call herself, will grow up to outshine all the men of Tom’s company and seek revenge – and a legacy – all of her own. Woven into Molly’s story are the writers – from Celia Fiennes to Hester Thrale to George Eliot – who are transfixed by her myth and who, over three centuries, come together to solve the mystery of her life. The novel remakes the eighteenth-century Heroical novel and challenges women’s writing and women’s roles throughout history.
I was over the moon to receive these kind words about A Wild & True Relation from Hilary Mantel: ‘This book is a rarity – a novel as remarkable for the vigour of the storytelling as for its literary ambition. Kim Sherwood is a writer of capacity, potency and sophistication.’ I have been working on A Wild & True Relation for the past fourteen years, and this novel – and its setting of Devon – are very close to my heart. Releasing this story into the hands of readers feels particularly special.
I was very close with George and it was his loss, alongside my close relationship with my grandmother, who is a Holocaust survivor, that inspired Testament, my first novel. I now live in Edinburgh, where I am a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh. As a reader, some of my favourite authors are Hilary Mantel, Ali Smith, Zadie Smith, Deborah Levy, Virginia Woolf and Georgette Heyer; and Ian Fleming, John le Carré, Lee Child, Walter Mosley, Elmore Leonard and Raymond Chandler. I collect books, especially popular twentieth century novels, and dictionaries (I’m great fun at parties). I love meeting readers at events and hope to chat with you one day about books.
