A CNN reporter asked a top FBI guy if he knew another incident where firemen were ambushed. He said “No”. He could have used Google. In 2018 I covered a shooting a hundred yards away. Thank God no firemen were killed.

0:33Watch: Procession honours firefighters killed in Idaho ambush shooting
Two US firefighters have been killed and a third wounded after a man intentionally started a fire and began shooting at first responders in a “total ambush” which lasted several hours, authorities said.
The gunman, who investigators said acted alone, began shooting after crews responded to a fire at Canfield Mountain, just north of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Sunday afternoon.
Law enforcement officers and firefighters came under sniper fire during the incident and a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team later “located a deceased male” close to where the attack took place.
Fire and Shooting on Oakdale

This morning, my fire alarm woke me around 5:30 A.M. It was just beeping. I smelled smoke and turned on my computer to learn there was a fire down Oakdale St. between S. Cloverleaf Loop, and Pheasant in Springfield. There was also a shooter who took his own life. According to an eyewitness, his body is in the bushes outside what I assume is his home. Shots were fired, and the Springfield Fire Department was forced to retreat and let his home burn, and the one next to it. Three homes and a car were destroyed.
In the second video a fireman is asked if any firefighters got hit by gunfire.
“Yeah they did.”
This has not been confirmed. (This is incorrect – thank God!)
Thank you to Springfield Fire and Police.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A 60-year-old man shot and killed himself on Wednesday morning after fire destroyed three homes and damaged a fourth, according to authorities.
Flames broke out in the 500 block of Oakdale Avenue just before 4 a.m. Officials say when first responders arrived on scene they came under gunfire from a shooter who was walking through the area with a rifle.
Lt. Scott McKee of Springfield police said the shooter lived in the neighborhood and acted alone.
McKee said it appears the fires were set as a way to lure targets into the area.
“We believe that that was an intentionally set fire with the intent of ambushing (first responders),” McKee said.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
“We just came out and heard some noises,” Donald Chamberlain, a neighbor, said. “We came out to see a huge fire and then the cops came out screaming for everybody to get back in the house because ammos going off.”
As of 6 a.m. the firest were under control, but the neighborhood streets were closed as part of a larger crime scene.
Insanity On Oakdale

I knew the couple that lived in this house on Oakdale. I made a point to talk to the wife about her garden when I passed her coming from my community garden. She had wonderful roses and a dry-stone creek that ran to the sidewalk. The husband did woodwork and tuned pianos. He lost his craft and tools. These were the nicest neighbors one could hope for. You could tell they were retired liberals living in harmony. They will spend the rest of their life wondering;
“Why us?”
I talked to Lieutenant McKee of the Springfield Police about the shooter and his mental state. He told me the next of kin have not been notified. This tells me he lived alone. I told him I wanted to do a follow up and find out what his mental state – was! McGee said that is what remains – motive!
The gentleman in the video below was working at Riverbend when he got a call from his hysterical wife who were huddled in a backroom as the shooter when up and down the street with a rifle. She thought he had come in their backyard. He rushed home!
