The Woodburning Mach 4

In the Gideon Computer I invoke the inventor of the Woodburning Automobile. Trump cries “Drill baby, baby!” Will we hear “Burn baby, burn!” Will Trump found a….Rake the Forest program? Will drivers have a chainsaw in the trunk, so they can poach wood along the highway?

I wrote a column in March arguing that Elon Musk’s efforts with the Department of Government Efficiency to cut federal spending would accomplish nothing as long as Congress continues to spend money we don’t have. It seems that Musk now agrees with me.

“I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk said in a recent interview, referring to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which would add $3.8 trillion to the deficit by 2034 if passed.

In my science fiction novel ‘The Gideon Computer’ Berkeley Bill becomes a Ford salesman in LA. His friend, Dexter, owned a big dealership. Bill looked and dressed like Wild Bill Cody, and would cry;

“Ride em cowboy!”

He helps design the fastest commercial vehicle ever made, and are driven from Oakland to LA by Raider fans after their move there. They go by the three mile long Gideon Institute that is the first privatized prison in the world. They look like the Amazon monoliths Jeff Bezos made, and is making in Oregon. I objected to Governor Kotek bargaining with the owner of Amazon for another billion dollar tax cut, which is ominous being what he did to the Washington Post. Add the hour long rant Trump gave at the Department of Justine. Does his loyal base see a giant prison being built to…..

“LOCK EM ALL UP!”

I began ‘The Gideon Computer’ after a punk put a gun to my head, pulled the trigger – several times – because it would not fire. Why was – I spared? I was, and still am, a terrible speller and have problems with grammar and punctuation. I got a book on how to be a writer. One section helped improve your vocabulary. I was asked to use “adroit: and “dexterous” in a sentence. These two words became two books. Dexter was born. I might have invented the RV, and the RV Nation. I might have seen a Humvee a military car. I gave it the name Mach 4, and some models came with a trailer, for added prestige. You had to feed two parking meters, which was good for The Gideon Group. Common folk complained about the lack of parking space downtown. Did I invent privatized parking meters? No longer were city governments involved. A Gideon armored vehicle would empty the meters. When I saw computerized meters near the University of Oregon. I knew the future I saw in 1986, was near.

In my blog, The Bohemian Democrat Register, I invented Downtown Begging Meters. When approached by a indigent, who says they want food, to be sure your hard-earned money is not boing for drug and booze, you go to a Generosity Meter, and tap it with your Smart Phone.

“There you go Good Chap! I just donated two bucks to the Whitebird Dining Experience. Bon Apitite!

Eureka! Got it, the solution to Homelessness. Privatize Homelessness. Put Love Meters in designated areas, and the homeless can put their tent near them, and they get a little heater and ports for charging their phone and accessing the Internet!

Whitebird is shutting down. They have stopped funding Cahoots, an Emergency Mercy Wagon for the Homeless and Insane. Many of the homeless get SSI, that is being threatened. What if you convert Cahoots wagon into Give Away Programs on wheels. the Needy cn enroll in a warm wagon with a hot cup of coffee in a earth-friendly cup – that were banned by the President. The holy stock holders take a percentage of the free Government handouts. A Finder’s Fee. Bag a Bum! Musk is on his way to privatizing the Post Office and Amtrak. Think about it.

Inside every Cahoots Wagon, visitors are tattooed with their Barcode of Love, which allows them to get a free hotdog at.a…Bunch of Weenies Wagon

New Smart Parking Meters Being Installed in Downtown Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. – The City of Eugene Parking Services is implementing a state-of the-art parking system in downtown.

280 new meters are being installed, offering additional payment options using advanced parking technology. According to city staff, the meters will accept coins, credit cards, Apple and Google pay, as well as Park Smarter mobile phone application and in-vehicle dash payment.

“We are working to give our customers the best parking experience possible,” Jeff Petry, Parking and Technology Manager for the City of Eugene said. “To make it easy to find a spot, we will soon be linking these meters to a new digital application that will indicate whether an on-street space is vacant or occupied.”

City staff said further improvements to parking are also planned in the parking garages, where sensors will determine how many spaces are available. Later this winter, the Overpark and Parcade garages will be equipped with external signs indicating real-time parking availability. Multi-space meters in the Hult Center Garage, Broadway North & South Garages, Library Garage, City Hall Surface Lot, and Train Depot Surface Lot will be replaced with meters that tie-into the street parking ecosystem and offer the same pay-by-smartphone application.

“This is the most advanced parking meter technology available right now,” Petry adds.

With the sunset of the downtown free parking pilot, the new meters will be installed in a 12-square block area of downtown, according to city staff. The meters will help increase parking access by ensuring turnover. The revenue generated from the re-installed meters will provide an important resource for this work.
