Capturing Beauty
by

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
On this day, July 19, 2024….I John Presco lay claim to all land described in this document signed by the Mayor of Belmont on March 8, 1975. This document has the Seal of Belmont City attached. It shows a succession of women down to Doris Vannier, who is dead. I claim this succession for myself, and my daughter. The Mayor decreed
CARL JANKE DAY
It describes the boundaries of the Janke property that he purchased from Governor McDougall. I am composing a letter to Governor Newsom wherein I bid him to investigate all archives and history for one of the First Governors of California. I bid him, and Stanford, where Jenny Newson attended, investigate all these matters, and conduct an archeological dig under the “fabulous Bay tree”. I suspect the Janke grave markers were moved in the middle of the night – but not their remains! Therefore, they were not re-interred in the Union Cemetery – where another dig should take place.
I suspect Carl Janke and a previous Mayor of Belmont dedicated the Janke graves, and chartered another Janke Day. Stanford should conduct a genealogical and DNA record – just in case!
My grandmother Melba looks like the women in the pics. They have thin hair. Now add my grandfather, Royal Rosamond, who was the father-in-law of Victor Presco, then, we own the history of Belmont – and beyond! Royal was the publisher of Gem magazine and author of several books. The Hub – fits in!

“Originally Carl and Dorthea were buried under a huge Bay tree, and their bodies later moved to the Union cemetery “during the dark of the night” as my mother used to tell us.”
Doris is my kin. Why didn’t Cathryn McCarthy, and other members of the Belmont Historical Society, tell me Doris wrote a history book, titled “Belmont” – As We Remember It. It is obvious MY FAMILY feels the oppression of OUR HISTORY and wants to make sure OUR VERSION is recorded. This is – AN OUTRAGE! My attorney is going to make this FACT very clear; Doris prayed one of her kin would take an interest in the history she compiled – and add to it! I posted on the Union Cemetery and that post was removed in a vile act of desecration and censorship. I only found Doris’s letters – yesterday! This is a COVERUP. Members of the BHS dug a fresh grave – and threw me and my history in it. They tried to bury me – alive! The trauma I feel – is extreme! I have been in therapy for the same thing being done to I and my famous sister’s history.

My grandfather, Royal Rosamond, authored several books, numerous short stories, and countless poems that were published in ‘Out West’ ‘Liberty Magazine’, and several Romance magazines. He was good friends of Dashiel Hammet according to my mother Rosemary, and my Aunt Lillian recalls falling asleep to the sound of her father, and the author Earl Stanley Gradner, typing away in their home in Ventura California, they honing up on their literary skills. Dashiel and Earl were members of the ‘Black Mask’ a society of mystery writers.
Royal was born in a log cabin on the Missouri River, the only known child of William Rosamond and Ida Louisiana Rose. He met my grandmother, Mary Magdalene Wienke while working in Brakey’s Cash Bizaar in Ojai, and would later own the first general store in Ventura. A short biography of Royal is found in my link to my newspaper ‘Royal Rosamond Press’.
Royal was a good friend of Otto Rayburn, the Ozark historian, they meeting when Royal returned to the Ozarks to become a Regional writer. Royal published in Rayburn’s ‘Arcadian Magazine’ “A Journal
of the Well-flavored Earth” printed in Eminence Missouri. Royal would later found ‘Gem Publishing’ in Oklahoma City, and publish his books ‘Bound in Clay’ and ‘Ravola of Thunder Mountain’.
I have corespondence between Royal and Otto. I wonder if he met the Regional artist, Thomas Hart Benton, who was also good friends of Otto Rayburn, there photographs of both men in Volume 1. of
Rayburn’s ‘Enchanted Ozarks’ an archives of Ozark Folk Life found at the University of Arkansas.
