For the last 8 hours I have been holding back tears. I kept seeing the face of a GI liberator of a death camp. They are almost all gone. Most of them knew who Tom Mix was. I saw them leaving their homes to go over there, only to witness the horror of horrors. Gary Cooper plays a sheriff who had to make a grave decision. Should he run, or stay to fight evil……..all by himself. FDR had a high noon moment almost every day. But, he didn’t see the lampshades made of the skin of Jews. An hour ago the news said this is the anniversary of the liberation of Buchenwald. “He participated in the National Public Television documentary “Living On” where he was quoted as saying, “for evil to exist it just takes good people doing nothing”. Harry also said this; “Inmates everywhere. Some dead and some alive under the dead…just lying there. I couldn’t think. No thoughts came to my head. Only horror. I had never seen anything like this before.“ As they drove into Buchenwald concentration camp in April 1945, Harry Snodgrass recalls a fellow American soldier saying to him, “There isn’t a God in heaven…no God at all.“ Too many good Americans are playing games with God, and are on the verge of joining bad Americans – who claim God is on their side. A movie needs to be made about Harry. Every ten years, our young come of age, and we think they are getting the lessons we got. https://www.scrapbookpages.com/Buchenwald/Liberation0.html
