Dehumanizing Human Parasites

“When the persecution of the Jews began in Nazi Germany a half-century ago, Jews were labeled a “disease” or “parasites”; Hitler talked of the “Jewish bacilli’’ and the “demon of Communism.” This metaphoric language was essential for dehumanizing the “enemy.”

When Heather Hanson and Bill Cornwell called me a “parasite” I wondered if Bill was sympathetic to the rhetoric of Neo-Nazis who use the term “upholding family values”. Bill told me he was a traditional kind of guy, he an upholder of family values. Why then was he bent on severing me from my family, and making my family – his family? This is a great sin amongst the Jews. Any man who would do such a thing, would be titled “evil” rather then “righteous”.
