The painting, Christina’s World, by Andrew Wyeth, is probably one of the most recognized works of art in the world. It influenced my work. Christina is dominated by a overbearing landscape. The structures are from the old world. She is paralyzed. She can’t get back home. She is trapped.
Here is a modern version of Christina’s World. My old friend, Christine Wandel, is trapped in a relationship with the overbearing artist, Stefan Eins. He dominates her, and regulates her to just a corner of his world. She wants to get away from him, but, she is paralyzed. She will never get back home to Boston and her antiques. The modern world has captured this once beautiful woman. She has lost her roots. She will never return to her Wendish Ways.
