Yesterday Eugene and Oregon conducted a Cultural Extravaganza! It was a five ring circus! While snow stole the whole show back east, and the California drought continues to be their only hot news flash, we Orgonians had a Bill Cody Wild West Show with Human Be-ins, one at the new Veterans medical center, and the other at Ken Kesey Square. Then, here come the Indians!
I wrote the above last night. I am overwhelmed. I am going to add to this post rather then blog new ones for this long adventure that begins by being approached by the Chief of Police and questioned about carrying a gun rather than my tripod. An hour ago I heard about a ‘Active Shooter’ at the VA in San Diego.
Mind you I am trying to build up courage to go downtown and mingle with homeless activists. As usual I am conducting a Bohemian Friendly test, that this VA almost flunked. The last thing a Homeless Vet, or a Vet who suffers from PTSD, wants to see, is, a Potato Bug Man in his/her face after he/she got the courage to enter the Big New Shiny Thing. This could be like entering Hell – for good!
“Welcome to the VA Voo-Doo Center. I’m Chief Rachet. Do you mind if I put you under mental duress?”
Note the folks in cowboy hats. I almost stopped, turned the camera on them, and said;
“Shoot! You Bundyites are quick on the draw. You got here before I did. Will I need a hall pass from you boys to go inside the government building.”
I restrained my self, lest I never make it to the front door. Inside, I will talk about a Stand-down and Veteran Community Garden in the old run down house five hundred yards down the street. Play both videos at same time, turning down the second one a tad.
