Above is the cover of Out West magazine, of August 1911. That is a drawing of Californian seaweed, called Plocamium Coccineum. Inside we find a poem by R.R.R. in the Index. Sunset Magazine has moved to Jack London Square.
The fisherman’s Home
The twilight sad, the sea – a certain waste;
The mainsail taut, to part the jib inclines:
Faster then the breeze our hearts make haste
With fishes from the trolling lines.
Ahead the boat the gloomy island looms
In direful silence, and-to-me-
In vagueness as of aged tombs,
In awesome outline giant mystery.
Behold! Within the lea a light’s bright flash;
Then hidden in the swells-below, above:
The real, infinite and mysteries crash:
Behold a domicile of love

OAKLAND — Sunset Magazine, the iconic western lifestyle, food and travel publication, will shift its headquarters to Oakland’s Jack London Square and exit the landmark head offices it has occupied in Menlo Park for more than six decades, executives and city officials said Tuesday.
The magazine’s new headquarters will be at 55 Harrison St. in Jack London Square, the same building that will house the Water Street Market, which is expected to become a marketplace for artisan foods.
“It’s another chapter in the Oakland story,” Mayor Libby Schaaf told this newspaper in an interview. “We are emerging as a hub of innovation and creativity, but with an Oakland flavor.”
