outwest3The story of Christine Rosamond Benton and her brother, Jon Presco, deserves to be told in a movie about California in the 60s and 70s that begins with the poets and artists in Joaquin Miller’s ‘The Heights’ and in the campers at Lake Temescal which includes Ralph Stackpole who did the giant statue of Pacfica that was used for target practice by the Navy.

Above is a photo of Mary Magdalene Rosamond camping on Anacapa Island. Her ancestors owned the most prized vineyards in Europe. This history means nothing to my daughter who grew up in Sonoma and is obsessed with impressing her rich girlfriends who parents moved to California’s Wine Country in order to own High Status. The psuedo rich destroyed California that was founded by our kindred John Fremont and Jessie Benton.
