Also, there is another photo taken in the Oakland Hills – I assume! The little girl is dressed like the one in the other (picnic) photo. The gentleman on the left may be the photographer of the picnic pic, and has taken a turn to pose. He has features like my father and myself. Is this a Stuttmeister?
Here is Murray Oltman’s translation of letter.
Murray wrote: “Here is my take on the wording. Berlin 2.13.93 My Dear Neice, I feel much with for you for the loss of your brother Victor, he was the only acquainted member of the family of my brother Ralph and quite a time given to my care in Berlin. So much the more it may be founded in human ?, to participate especially with persons known to us, and undergo once more all the time we were together. Deeply I regret the loss of your departed brother, my dear Bertha, and although you have a husband, it is never the less comfort, to have also a grown up brother as a second protecting ? (staff?) in the whirlpool of life. Heaven has acted otherwise, we mus undergo, what he sends. The best comfort is time. Now beg you dear niece, to give greetings to your brother Willy and sister Alice. May heaven protect you and your whole family and send comfort in your heart. Death is common to us all and takes from us all soon. Your loving aunt, Bertha”
