Rosamond’s California

Before me is an image of my grandfather, Roy Reuben Rosamond, published in the April 1911 issue of Charles Lummis’ ‘Out West’ magazine. I found this gem amongst the family heirlooms at my sister Victoria’s house in Bullhead City. On the cover is a schooner docked in San Pedro harbour with this caption; “The Busiest Lumber Port in the World”.

Under Roy’s photo are these words;

“Announcement: A Voice of the Mountains by Roy Reuben Rosamond

Here is a story that is all the its title suggests – a fresh and wonderfully poetic story exhaling the breath and spirit of the western hills. Here is a work apart from the beaten paths of fiction – a cowboy turned poet, appearing in our May issue, on sale at all news stands after the 26th. of the month.”
