Did Broderick Drive a Electra?

Perhaps the BIGGEST ranch in America is up for sale. The Waggoner family home in Texas was the model for the house in the movie ‘Giant’ starring my kindred, Elizabeth Rosamond Taylor. The Buick Electra was named after Electra Waggoner who was a sculptor of renown. Broderick Crawford was my grandmother’s cousin. He drove a Buick in the T.V. Show ‘Highway Patrol’. Buicks had three portals.

They made everything BIG in those days. Those Biggish Days are now gone, because these dudes got too BIG. They invaded Iraq in order to grab their oil wells, and now the world is in BIG SHIT with ISIS!

America’s age of BIG DREAMS, is over. We LITTLE people have been fooled one to many times. Many of us have returned to the days of yesterday when everything was more manageable – especially our criminals. I like watching Highway Patrol for the parade of great cars – BIG CARS!

Then, there is the landscape that is gone with the wind. And, here he come, my Broderick genetic material, lumbering along with a small gun, backed up with that stern scowl I saw on my father’s face all the time. Here come the Control Freaks, the military law and order branch that hated all traces of Royal Rosamond, the poet.

“Up against the Buick, Hippie poet-bum!”

If the truth must be known, what made Big Captain Victim unhappy, was, he could never catch enough BIG fish! It irked him that there were other men catching BIGGER fish then he. BIG OIL dudes – are the same!

Electra Waggoner Biggs was born on November 8, 1912. She was named after her late aunt, Electra Waggoner.[1] Her father, E. Paul Waggoner, was an heir to the Waggoner Ranch in Texas.[2] Her mother was Helen Waggoner, a socialite.[2]

She became a renowned sculptor.[2] Her works include a statue, Riding Into the Sunset, of actor Will Rogers on his horse Soapsuds.[1] A large collection of her works can be found at the Red River Valley Museum in Vernon, Texas.[3]

She died on April 23, 2001.

Personal life[edit]

She married twice.[2] Her second husband, John Biggs, worked for International Paper.[2] They had two daughters, Electra and Helen.[4][2] Her daughter Helen married Gene Willingham, who became a controlling shareholder of the Waggoner Ranch.[2]

Her brother-in-law, Harlow H. Curtice, President of the Buick Division of General Motors, named the Buick Electra after her.[1][2]

The moviemakers of the film “Giant” duplicated the exterior for the movie set. Thus, the Waggoner mansion is one of the foremost and striking architectural remains of the indelible marks left by the cattle empire of Victorian Texas.

If my sister had not become a famous artist, my kin would be fighting over bragging right regarding the actor, Broderick Crawford, who may be in our family tree.
